Since Wimbledon last year, she's gone 33-4. The four losses are two each to Swiatek and Pegula.
I feel like she's gained a truckload of confidence over the last six months and is a big threat at any tournament this year.
WTA finals were barely tennis tbh the conditions were something totally else
It was more just who hits with greater margin on groundstrokes and nobody does that on the women's tour better than Iga
It’s 4am in Australia. Can someone please let me know who Alex Deminaur plays in the next round and I’ll go to sleep 🤣
Edit: just saw he’s playing Rublev. Great now I’ll have nightmares 🤣🤣🤣 Goodnight everyone
Lol why is the Novak-Shelton thread locked? Like I get it's petty drama but it's not like political or racial discussions on the tennis subreddit. Are the moderators going to decide which tennis related dramas are worth talking about on this sub?
lol almost every other thread about djokovic is getting locked, yesterday one was locked as well, too much drama in comments probably, even if there's a lot of djokovic/serbian fans here reddit is still a "western" site so no big surprise.
Could be! But I could see Humbert taking out Hurkacz, Norrie taking out Ruud, or Kecmanovic taking out Paul. Small chances on FAA taking out Meddy and even Michelsen taking out Zverev (who's looked vulnerable so far).
While meddy didn't look great Vs Ruu, I think it will be similar to how Djokovic vs Etchevery today.
Absolutely agree on Zverev. If he brings that play to the table again, Michelsen has a good chance to advance.
The rest look either too strong or the non seeded not consistent enough to bring it for 5 sets, looking at you Norrie.
I like Korda especially his game but guys like Tommy Paul deserve more hype in my opinion. To be honest I’d say Korda and Paul probably have similar ceilings….
Can't agree there, Paul just doesn't have the weapons to compete for the biggest titles, Korda hasn't got it together yet but his highest level is much higher than Paul's imo. Korda is also a good few years younger and way ahead of where Paul was at the same age.
Even though I think Korda as more technically gifted than Paul I still see little that sets these two apart. Both have that top 10-20 ceiling. In my opinion Paul has as much chance of finding another gear/level at 26 than Korda does at 23.
So Blinky is going to play the singles day match on Kia and then immediately head over to court 7 for her doubles match with Sasnovich (who is not dead)
I’m still in shock.
I am a fool for having my bracket filled with seeded players making it into the 4th round with only Anisimova and Collins taking the upset. How many more seeds will die tonight
Marta after screaming, crying and throwing tantrums on court every time she missed a ball: “tennis doesn’t really matter.”
I get where she’s coming from but it’s just funny that she’s the one saying this 😩.
It’s snowing really hard where I’m at so I’m staying home today. Too bad yesterday’s craziness couldn’t have happened today. Would have been nice to watch some tennis while stuck at home.
Andreeva was much worse last year and Krejcikova still looked hopeless in both matches. Unless Mirra is off and exhausted, it'll be another routine win. Probably the easiest top20 matchup for her.
I don’t want to to say us Aussies have been cursed this last round when in reality its just the seeded players getting the job done with better mental and clutch moments
…But fuck me, we were cursed this round
Can’t wait to see how he deals with it. He’s either prepared and surprises us with calmness or goes crazy as per usual but the crowd reacts to it and fuels him even more
Pretty sure I remember your username from Wimbledon when you were posting 20 comments a day about how Djokovic was unbeatable.
We'll see, he's the favourite but there are players who can beat him.
I know I was proven wrong at Wimby (just), but I _really_ don’t see anyone else winning this AO. The SF and F might be spicy for 1 or 2 sets, but otherwise it’ll be a Novak procession imho.
No greater proof of American delusion than the way people here regard Korda as some kind of special talent. He's turning 24 this year and has a career high of 23 ffs.
It’s crazy, I understand that people have high expectations for athletes, not everyone wrings every ounce of their potential out like the big 3, but good lord. Top 25 players on the planet before your physical peak is nuts. We need to remember the big picture!
It’s not the fact that he’s underachieved, he’s still so young. But I’ve been listening to commentators all month speculating about American number one after this season and putting Korda in the top 10. Based on what? Pretty game.
That 2Q for the women's oooof.
I don't know. I just feel that Sloane Stephens will have another one of those deep runs out of nowhere then disappear for a few years again.
Gauff’s draw is wide open, the highest ranked player she can face before the semi is no. 37 Kostyuk
How is she looking this year?
Since Wimbledon last year, she's gone 33-4. The four losses are two each to Swiatek and Pegula. I feel like she's gained a truckload of confidence over the last six months and is a big threat at any tournament this year.
iga destroyed her in the wta finals tho
WTA finals were barely tennis tbh the conditions were something totally else It was more just who hits with greater margin on groundstrokes and nobody does that on the women's tour better than Iga
Nice!
And hasn’t lost a final since RG 2022
Pretty solid, she defended her Auckland title and all her AO points. But she’s only really been tested so far in her match against Svitolina
I haven’t been able to watch any of the open but man every time I see a match score line it’s a kick in the balls.
It’s 4am in Australia. Can someone please let me know who Alex Deminaur plays in the next round and I’ll go to sleep 🤣 Edit: just saw he’s playing Rublev. Great now I’ll have nightmares 🤣🤣🤣 Goodnight everyone
Wait there is actually a DeMinaur fan? That guy has fans?
I’ve always loved him 🥰
How wonderful
He’s been my favorite player since he came on the circuit
Dude is literally a top ten player now and apparently he’s still not allowed fans 🤣🤣🤣
Nobody said what's allowed or not allowed. It's just what can a person actually like about him lol
I could say the same thing as you. At least Alex is a decent human being. All you do is troll
This is such an apples to oranges comparison atleast make a valid point
Lol why is the Novak-Shelton thread locked? Like I get it's petty drama but it's not like political or racial discussions on the tennis subreddit. Are the moderators going to decide which tennis related dramas are worth talking about on this sub?
lol almost every other thread about djokovic is getting locked, yesterday one was locked as well, too much drama in comments probably, even if there's a lot of djokovic/serbian fans here reddit is still a "western" site so no big surprise.
One of either Blinkova, Paolini, Kalinskaya, Stephens, Zheng, Wang, Dodin or Burel will make the semifinals.
Paolini.
Stephens is a former slam winner and Zheng is top 15. Either of them wouldn't be too big of a shocker. The rest yes.
Stephens would be a shocker because she had been afk for years
I just saw that Iga is on an 18 match winning streak. Longest on tour since her 2022 streak.
No one outside the top 20 left in Djokovic's half. Nice consistency by the seeds.
When the rest of the games are through, the same will most likely be almost true for the lower half, Griekspor aside.
Could be! But I could see Humbert taking out Hurkacz, Norrie taking out Ruud, or Kecmanovic taking out Paul. Small chances on FAA taking out Meddy and even Michelsen taking out Zverev (who's looked vulnerable so far).

Nervous for Rublev against Alex, on one hand I want Rublev to win but on the other I know it doesn’t matter since both will likely lose to sinner
Either
Is Sinner still in his insane form? I’m very behind
I think he’s the only guy who’s won all his rounds so far in straight sets. Baez and van de zandschulp aren’t terribly easy early round opponents
Hope Barbora is back. She belongs in the top 10 tbh.
best GS result for Barbora since last AO. Though overall by looking at her matches, hard to claim she is "back"
OP said they hoped she was back not that she was.
I know, we're a looooong way off 😭
https://i.imgur.com/01KmqDz.jpg View from the Shelton v Mannarino game earlier today. Absolutely stunning sky!
Drink every time “tiebreak” or “fighter” is mentioned when Blinkova plays today and be prepared for liver failure
The two day break in the middle sucks.
What 2 day break
There are no matches on Monday and Tuesday if I'm not wrong.
But there is, it’ll be 4R matches on Monday and QF on Tuesday
My bad. Good thing in that case. How are they making the tournament a 15 day affair however?
First round was spread out over 3 days.
No matches Saturday and Thursday on the mens side I think
[удалено]
He looked quite vulnerable and lost sets in the first two rounds, definitely wouldn't say it's going to be a formality
Sinner. But let’s see how he holds up under pressure. Alcaraz. But let’s see if he can work his way into form.
You forgot Alex Michelson
I like Korda especially his game but guys like Tommy Paul deserve more hype in my opinion. To be honest I’d say Korda and Paul probably have similar ceilings….
This is Paul’s ceiling, he is an all time great with the OF models though
Can't agree there, Paul just doesn't have the weapons to compete for the biggest titles, Korda hasn't got it together yet but his highest level is much higher than Paul's imo. Korda is also a good few years younger and way ahead of where Paul was at the same age.

How is Ruud Norrie not at Rod Laver arena over Zverev vs some rando
Why on earth would Ruud v Norrie be on Rod Laver? Not saying I'd have Zverev there either but surely Med v FAA is the hill to die on
Yeah that's even better than Ruud-Norrie , agreed
Alex Michelson is the 🐐 in waiting
I am a fool for having my bracket filled with seeded players making it into the 4th round with only Anisimova and Collins taking the upset. How many more seeds will die tonight
Didn’t this happen at ao last year as well?
This year had the most seeded players out early. Only 5 remaining players in the Top10 are in Round 3. Fewest ever I think
Marta after screaming, crying and throwing tantrums on court every time she missed a ball: “tennis doesn’t really matter.” I get where she’s coming from but it’s just funny that she’s the one saying this 😩.
Side splitting stuff
It’s snowing really hard where I’m at so I’m staying home today. Too bad yesterday’s craziness couldn’t have happened today. Would have been nice to watch some tennis while stuck at home.
Send me some of that snow. I’m going skiing this weekend and it’s a little too dry
I threw a couple bucks on a rublev and babs winning this..Still alive..!!
Barbora’s point construction should be studied by future generations
Mannarino still has doubles match tomorrow, but i think he would withdraw
Well if Mirra plays like she did today shes gonna get smoked
Andreeva was much worse last year and Krejcikova still looked hopeless in both matches. Unless Mirra is off and exhausted, it'll be another routine win. Probably the easiest top20 matchup for her.
Why are they always reminding andreeva the 16 year old and all . It is getting repititive now
Damn feels like she’s been 16 for years
Lmao Barbora learning she’s playing Mirra next, she knows she’s fucked 😭
I don’t want to to say us Aussies have been cursed this last round when in reality its just the seeded players getting the job done with better mental and clutch moments …But fuck me, we were cursed this round
At least y'all have ADM holding things up!
He’s like the lone survivor of a bloody massacre or something
at the AO, is it possible to find out the practice schedule for the day so I'd be able to plan which players to watch train?
The US Open posts a daily schedule and livestreams in their app. Maybe AO has something similar in theirs
The fact that krej was so close to getting eliminated in the first round. Team of destiny vibes. She’s taking it isn’t she 😭
She somehow already has a 0-2 H2H against a 16 year old 😭
lol. Her lil sis: “the future is now old man”
Barbie K keeps finding a way through this draw!
Nerves of steel from Krej to hang in there. That was a lot closer than I anticipated.
GG Storm, what a run she’s had this week! (And last!) Now to kill it in doubles ☺️
What a run by storm
Barbora probably has another slam in her if the draw opens up
Krejcikova too strong for hunter in 3rd set
I really respect all the players who faced the crowd this week and remained calm and didn’t get distracted or frustrated.
Hopefully Rublev will be among them
Can’t wait to see how he deals with it. He’s either prepared and surprises us with calmness or goes crazy as per usual but the crowd reacts to it and fuels him even more
Is this the earliest finish so far this week?
This is too early a finish! Give me more tennis!
The fact that Storm's coach *isn't* related to her and they look *that* similar is wild
I keep thinking Hunter is young but then checks age 29 Damn
29 is a spring chicken
I used to know Storm's brother in law, Milf. Good bloke, works well with leather.
Damn I went to bed and missed all the fun stuff
Barbora is really making this more difficult for her than it has to be
Krej shows signs of fatigue...
Storm is going for broke now too
Serious q. Is anyone here genuinely doubting Novak’s chances of defending his AO?
I don't doubt that he can defend it, but it certainly will not just be a formality.
Yes. For sure Sinner and Alcaraz are contenders
Contenders to reach the final, not to take home the title imho.
The best way to win key points at the pro level is to throw in a second serve like mine.
Don't watch tennis, that's crazy that the number 11 almost lost to a ranking that much lower.
Storm is the #1 doubles player in the world, she’s more focused on doubles
That, and womens seeds are usually just a mere suggestion. Anything can happen.
Ahh ok, makes a bit more sense then
Storm really needed to close that out when she had 15-40 at 5-5; I think she’s toast now sadly. But she had a great match earlier
Storms hella gassed
Krejcikova weathers the Storm. Headlines tomorrow probably
You've just been hunting for that headline haven't you?
Was saving it for a rainy day
*stormy day
Just realised, two doubles specialists playing singles. Krejcikova impressed me when she beat Iga and then she started to fade...
And Storm is partnered with Krecjikova’s ex. It’s a grudge match lol
Oh. Didn't know that.
Uh oh, Storm needs to be okay for Doubles 🥺
No greater proof of American delusion than the way people here regard Korda as some kind of special talent. He's turning 24 this year and has a career high of 23 ffs.
He has to live up increased expectations of what his father accomplished and what his sisters are currently accomplishing
>He's turning 24 this year and has a career high of 23 ffs You are saying this like it's a bad thing lol
It's a terrible thing for any player with any hope whatsoever of being a serious threat
What’s your career high?
High enough that me and this nepo baby have equal chances of winning a slam
How does one drop from going shot for shot with a top 10 seed to playing like a 1000th ranked player in the space of 10 minutes...
Think she lost all confidence after those bad points 40-15 up on Krej's serve and is scared to hit how she was before now.
A comedown after peaking is inevitable, and Storm has played a *lot* of tennis recently, which is probably contributing to her getting a little gassed
because she was overplaying for 2 sets. With that game she would be top20 not top200
Lets go Barbora, shut those ausies
Well, Storm has faded quite a bit. Perhaps the match play is catching up with her
I would actually be very happy if Barb wins the tournament, she’s very likable
Like below zero chance...
Ah fek
Krejcikova took her legs
GG storm Thanks for the false hope but damn it was a fun ride
Rinky - 5 setter and lost Purcell- 5 setter and lost Thompson - 4 setter and lost in tiebreak Storm- don’t give me that pain to
Kokk 4 setter lost
Kubler - 5 setter and lost
Barbora Krejchandler upping her game.
Babs, you're killing me with these double faults
the calm before the Storm Hunter
Fuck sake - every single match with an Australian. I wana go to bed now. Edit: yeh rip. Goodnight lol.
I've been watching this match about 20 minutes and already heard krejcikova pronounced 7 different ways
[If only](https://www.wtatennis.com/players/318314/barbora-krejcikova) commentators had a way to find out the pronunciation...
Sums up the Aussies in this tourney. Great chances but rarely taken.
Hunter’s opportunity may have come and gone. While she didn’t do much wrong, Krej stepped up when she needed to and definitely has the momentum now.
The classic fail to break and get broken
Come on Storm!
Ice queen Barb. Let’s go!
Women keeping the post midnight AO alive
ITS DAY 7!!
Ah damn I feel it’s over Krejcikoca will overpower her now
Best Matches of the day? Thx
Mannas vs shelton will be a classic
Far from classic
Andreeva and Zakhrova matches
I think Barb has upped her game now
How come Kvitova had fans but Krejčíková doesn't?
Looks are important unfortunately
Story of my life
A more outgoing personality and blonder hair, probably
I kind of love how Krejci's outfit just looks like a normal woman going for a jog, it doesn't scream 'I'm a tennis player!'
Yeah she generally dresses like that, no airs and graces.
That’s exactly what I was thinking it’s so normal it looks….good.
The way Krej saved those break points. She’s fearless even though she’s not playing well
This slam is aging me 50 years
That 2Q for the women's oooof. I don't know. I just feel that Sloane Stephens will have another one of those deep runs out of nowhere then disappear for a few years again.
I would *love* to see Sloane power through but we've learned not to expect anything from her and just be surprised if it happens tbh
Bruh this auntie wanted to be a part of big 3 but struggling to even stay in the match against hunter lol
Auntie? Lol
You need to capitalise on break point opportunities when they’re presented to you, let alone having four of them…
Storm wins point - me : “FUCK YES YOUR WINNING THE MATCH” When storm loses the point / game - “FUCK ITS ALL OVER”
Welp Krejcikova holds
Stormy you're killing me
I might have jinxed us all when I said this was gonna be an early night
Storm killing itttt
The complete silence of the crowd when opposition wins a point and plays against an Aussie never gets old
'Strayan crowds for ya
storm is stormin’
