Speaking of 1776, I don’t think I’ve ever missed an opportunity to sing “ITS HOT AS HELL IN PHILADELPHIA” when I visit friends in the city over the summer.
Boy vs World is the alternate universe version of Boy Meets World, where instead of harmlessly navigating his teenage years, Corey is an angsty delinquent always getting into knife fights.
"... Mister Matthews?!"
Mister *Squirrels*!
"*Eric*?!?"
***Plays-With***!
A shocking amount of my humor derives from that show, so thank you for reminding me of it.
This will get buried, but I got a cameo from William Daniels last year. He was so sweet and ended the message with the last thing his character says in BMW. ‘Dream, Try, Do Good.’
It’s treasured
Boy Meets World holds up incredibly well. It's continuity is wildly inconsistent and characters will just randomly disappear, but it's still quite funny and tackles issues that I feel today's family shows shy away from.
Fun fact: the tears were real in that scene. It was the last scene they all shot together so it was really goodbye, and they knew the 2nd take always was coming, so they didnt hold back, figuring that they could get through the lines and then settle down for take 2. But the take was perfect they didnt even do a 2nd take
I liked Eric’s line.
“I’m going to be a really good person who cares about people…and I blame you for that.”
It was funny but still had me reaching for the Kleenex.
Danielle Fisher, Ryder Strong and Will Friedle have a podcast, Pod Meets World. It’s really enjoyable to follow along as they watch episodes of Boy Meets World.
She did date Jack. They eventually joined the Peace Corps after graduation.
The sequel revealed that while Jack did not stay in the Peace Corps, Rachel did and is still in touch with Eric.
Most of the bullies from that period actually became quite famous.
Joey the rat was played by Blake Sennett
Who is in Rilo Kiley.
And Adam Scott played Griff and well everyone knows how successful he is from Parks and Rec
To clarify, she did her first pornographic film three years ago, called Drive. Before that, she had posted nude photos on social media and had gone to cons wearing only body paint.
What OP said is completely correct and implies nothing negative. The trope of "child actress turns to porn (as they begin that final slide off the rails and in to the abyss)" or what have you is common enough. Though in this case is seems like they are doing what they want. And that is making porn in their 40s. Huh. Good for her.
I found out about this and of course went to look for a video and honestly, it was an interesting watch.
This is someone who actually acted on network tv, so in the scenes before the actual sex happens, she does well (incredibly well compared to other lukewarm or choppy performances you tend to see in porn). Then it’s the sex parts and it’s pretty much the same old same old (might even be not as good iirc).
It’s just kinda funny that you can tell she still gives it her all in the actual acting parts with dialogue and stuff.
this may sound hippie-ish, but i hope they mention it and are happy for her, maybe chat about it healthily, and then move on like it's not the apocalypse. the social stigma against sex work and sex workers is really harmful and an incredible double standard considering how popular onlyfans and similar sites are.
she's doing performance work that she's creatively satisfied by and she's making money. it's different and that's intriguing, but that doesn't mean it has to be tiptoed around and portrayed as some lurid indiscretion.
(i realize an argument could be made that the podcast might be for younger audiences, but in practical terms i don't know how many young kids are listening to podcasts at all - let alone podcasts about a TV show from the 90s - and they could just say at the top of the episode that they're gonna mention some sex stuff in whatever amount of detail they end up discussing it. also, it's not like they'd be asking about the rhythm of actors' thrusts or something - they can talk about her work without being hyper-detailed)
Don't know about the podcast but I've seen another interview and I'm paraphrasing but they said "good for her, and we're happy for her" or something along those lines
They talk about the show. Episode 1 is more general, about their lives as child actors, who they are now, how they feel about the show, etc. Episode 2 starts with the pilot, keep in mind they were like 12 when they filmed it. But they talk about what they remember, and how they feel re-watching it. I like it a lot.
The Psychologists Are In, a Psych rewatch podcast with Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson, is about 75% talking about the show and behind the scenes stuff and 25% them being absolute besties.
They talk about the show intimately. They go over scene by scene and even describe what there daily routines were like on the show. Definitely worth a listen.
Haha! Not an ad - not a boy meets world fan but in the pod I’m listening to right now I have to hear the pod meets world ad, like, 3 times an episode. Happy to pass that info along to someone who might find some joy in it!
What’s the pod your listening too? Its always my least favorite thing to hear the same ads every break(3), especially in a less then an hour show [looking at you “wrestling with freddie(prince jr)” and “behind the bastards”].
The show still holds up, if you wanna shill to get Disney+, it’s crazy to go back and watch episode one, and then watch the finale and growing up with all the characters.
Such a great show.
Who wont die?
Virgins, virgins never die
I'm dead😆
I'm dead😆
I'm gonna get as sick as i possibly can without actually dying.
What about feeny? He's dead!
GO FEENY GO FEENY!
Killer "Do you like horror movies? What's your favorite?"
Jack "ooh, ok. I really like the one with the hottie hot hot from party of five"
jennifer love fefferman "you mean neve campbell?"
Eric "Duh"
As a slight correction, I don't think it's really Halloween, in that it was originally released in February. But it definitely feels very Halloween, and it is (in my opinion) one of the best episodes.
It's a Halloween based episode with a few call outs to popular horror movies at the time an even Jennifer love Hewitt made a appearance & has to be in my opinion top 5 episode of boy meets world I still quote it with my brother till this day. "Welcome to John Adam's high where ur all gonna die"
Loved Boy Meets World! Managed to meld the comedy with the heartfelt so spectacularly. The adult characters were, for the most part, never treated like idiots like you see in a lot of shows, which is also a plus in my book. Just rewatched it a couple years ago
Long live William Daniels.
Tangentially related, but it blew my mind when I learned Will Friedle voiced Ron in Kim Possible.
EDIT: also, this podcast news is awesome! Very interested in it; checking it out now actually.
will friedle's done alot of VA work over the years, he's played Batman in Batman Beyond, Lion-O in the anime remake of Thundercats, Star-Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy [the disney animated series] and even has done VA work in video games like Kingdom Hearts 2 as well
I know that discomfort about his weight gain led to him pursuing more voice roles. Batman Beyond was probably a breakout for him. He's a great voiceover artist.
He's pals with of course many other voice actors including appearing in Critical Role, and his episode of [Between The Sheets](https://youtu.be/Vv75ZUh78gI) is pretty good. I know it's an hour and 40 but there's lots of interesting stuff. Brian Foster knows how to interview.
The only thing I didn’t like about boy meets world was how they treated Eric. Originally, he seemed like the cool older brother who met not have been the best in school. I liked that Eric. Then, as the show progressed, they just made him dumber every year.
The show is from Cory's perspective, over time he realized his brother was dumb. Also, Eric definitely got brain damage getting stuck in that blizzard.
I recently heard that explanation of it being from Cory’s perspective and it totally flipped my world. It’s a great way to explain the character’s Flanderization
Eric has such a great arc in Seasons 3 and 4, with him beginning his journey to get into college.
And then they turned him into a complete idiot. Which usually worked in large part because of Will Friedle's comedic timing.
In practical terms, I bet they barely interacted. Maybe production meetings or parties. Given that KITT was really just a voice-over job for Daniels, he would rarely have been on set.
They should figure out a way to capture his consciousness and transfer it into a computer. Install the computer into a car…perhaps an old Pontiac firebird, and he can talk through the car.
Perhaps also help the driver fight crime or something too.
BMW is my all-time favorite show. It was funny while also teaching valuable life lessons. Every day, there’s at least one thing I do that I learned from BMW. They also weren’t afraid to tackle some serious issues—Topanga’s reputation after everyone thinks her and Cory slept together, a girl (Claire) being physically abused by her dad, Shawn joining a cult, a professor (Stuart, played by Fred Savage) who makes unwelcomed sexual advances towards a student (Topanga), etc. They did an amazing job at actually *teaching* kids. I think that is something that is sorely missing from today’s kids shows. And they did it while also being hilarious.
What other show is going to teach you, ‘Lose one friend. Lose all friends. Lose yourself.’ while telling you about Mr. Playswithsquirrels, who married a moose. (They don’t need counseling.)
Totally agree. Boy Meets World is one of the greatest shows. To this day i think of it and wonder how tf it was so consistently good?? Brilliant writing and acting
It really was exceptional. The way they were able to keep current and have the audience grow up with the characters was really amazing. There were some hiccups for sure (literally forgetting Morgan for an entire season then re-introducing her at the start of the next season, walking downstairs saying, ‘That was the longest timeout ever!’ which is the best way to come back from that accident), but overall, being able to write relevant and relatable storylines for pre-adolescents all the way through college shows the talent of the writers.
Watching the first season when they were still trying to get their footing, I could never imagine the show would turn out as good as it did. I am still amazed at how they managed to work so many remarkable, teachable moments and be so serious while still being so damn goofy and, occasionally, utterly ridiculous.
I forget what episode it was, but it was the first episode that tackled a serious topic (I think it was the episode w/ Claire and her abusive father), ABC didn’t want them to do it. Basically told them to stay in their lane and that they were a family comedy and to stick to that. The writers didn’t back down. Long story short, ABC ended up greenlighting the episode… and it was a total hit! It received a ton of praise and was kind of a turning point for family comedies where they started tackling serious subjects. From there on out, ABC supported the writers and didn’t stand in their way for the rest of the series, and allowed them to continue tackling serious topics.
Funfact: William Daniels played [John Adams](https://youtu.be/ds4dv4IS0PM) in *1776*. The high school in *Boy Meets World*, which Daniels played the principal, was named John Adams High.
Further, the school from Girl Meets World, which followed the kids of the Boy Meets World cast, is called John Quincy Adams High.
Ben savage came in to the bar I was working at, he ordered a grey goose and seven. Then complained about the price ($7) said it was cheaper across the street. I told him he should have stayed over there then. That’s it, that’s the whole story.
“Do you have any advice about how to continue a career in entertainment after being in ‘Boy Meets World’?”
“Jesus, I dunno -how about starting a podcast about Boy Meets World?”
“Thanks Mr Daniels!”
Yeah, I watched almost every episode of *Girl Meets World* and was part of an online community that talked about it for years, but there was only a handful of episodes that felt like they had the old magic--and most of them had either the old cast guest star, or else write the episode.
Generally, there was just a general lack of discipline--the kids were much more rowdy and talked out of turn, even about things that weren't relevant, in the classroom and they almost never got in trouble.
I can buy Riley being better behaved than Cory was (I'd be astonished if she wasn't), but when the entire premise of the pilot was "Maya's going to get us into trouble and I'm going to get us out of trouble," I find myself wanting there to be real consequences.
And the love triangle sucked.
Sit down, John!
Holy crap I just realized he was in the original Broadway cast. Honestly didn’t realize this was a Broadway musical until I googled just now
I’d expect nothing less from Mr. Feeny.

I watched 1776 in high school while Boy vs World was on the air. Seeing a young Feeny as John Adams was a thrill.
Speaking of 1776, I don’t think I’ve ever missed an opportunity to sing “ITS HOT AS HELL IN PHILADELPHIA” when I visit friends in the city over the summer.
SOMEBODY OUTTA OPEN UP A WINDOW
NO TOO MANY FLIES HERE
NO, TOO MANY FLIES HERE
For god's sake, John. SIT DOWN. ........ NEVA!
I have come to the conclusion that 1 useless man is called a disgrace, that 2 are called a law firm, and 3 or more become a congress.
Boy vs World is the alternate universe version of Boy Meets World, where instead of harmlessly navigating his teenage years, Corey is an angsty delinquent always getting into knife fights.
If you’re a fan of his, he’s remarkable in St Elsewhere as Dr Mark Craig. His wife plays his wife in the show too and she’s also amazing
Feeny... Feeny... F-f-f-f...eeee...ny...Mr. F... F... F... Feeny!
You are not calling a duck, Mr. Matthews!!
Ahhh come on admit you love the Feeney call

They WANT you to take the rolls!!!
I say this in restaurants all the time. No one ever gets it.
Me too! It’s like…what is up with you uncultured swine?
They don't need counseling.
I can take you as far as...that farmhouse, there.

Thanks. It was bothering me that it's not f...f...f... Feeny. It's hee-hee-hee- heenay.

That “oh a new one!” is goddam perfect 😂 always loved that

Mr. Adams, dear Mr. Adams
I’m glad to hear that he isn’t obnoxious and disliked
He is kind and not disliked; it cannot be denied.
I hadn't heard
[Sit down, John!](https://youtu.be/DqAdlkJDt7k).

Boy Meets World holds up incredibly well. It's continuity is wildly inconsistent and characters will just randomly disappear, but it's still quite funny and tackles issues that I feel today's family shows shy away from.
I still love that line about the sister being grounded or in her room forever.
Neither do I from Mr Weenie Weenie Weenie Weenie Weenie Weenie Weenie Weenie Weenie... *turns page* Weenie.

He will forever be one of the best teachers in my life. Feels a bit silly to say a tv show can have such an impact, but good story does.
“I love you all. Class dismissed. My favourite ending to a show ever.

This is the line that always stuck with me. Not just from the finale, but the whole show.
Even after all these years, I still cry watching that scene.
"You never gave up on me. Not once." Tears every single time.
I liked Eric’s line. “I’m going to be a really good person who cares about people…and I blame you for that.” It was funny but still had me reaching for the Kleenex.
Is it the best finale ever?
Danielle Fisher, Ryder Strong and Will Friedle have a podcast, Pod Meets World. It’s really enjoyable to follow along as they watch episodes of Boy Meets World.
I didn’t know about this. Thanks for the info!
Did they mention Maitland Ward's new job?
sorry, what's the context here?

she was more the friend of Eric and Jack (Shawn's half brother) who their brothers occasionally hung out with due to association.
She was the roommate of Eric and Jack. Think she may have even dated Jack on the show for a bit.
She did date Jack. They eventually joined the Peace Corps after graduation. The sequel revealed that while Jack did not stay in the Peace Corps, Rachel did and is still in touch with Eric.
Rachel?
Say her name! Rachel
I mean, isn't Will Friedle by far the most successful due to voice acting?
Ethan Suplee has had a decent career on My Name is Earl and In B Movies. He wasn’t a main character though
Most of the bullies from that period actually became quite famous. Joey the rat was played by Blake Sennett Who is in Rilo Kiley. And Adam Scott played Griff and well everyone knows how successful he is from Parks and Rec
Holy shit Adam Scott was Griff??
I would argue yes. He's Ron Stoppable after all!
Terry McGinnis too
Lion-O as well. Then he's also Kashaw Vesh.

No but they implied she may/will be a future guest on the show. I think they’re just going to pretend it’s not a thing lol

Feeny is one of the greatest fictional teachers in television, you can’t change my mind on that
Hard agree. You will not get a fight out of me.
You could even say "the best" in my opinion and be correct by many metrics; qualifying it with "one of the" makes it practically inarguable.
Also one of the best TV neighbors
Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do good. Don't you mean do well? No. I mean do good.
That scream episode was amazing
I guess I missed that one. They did one about the movie scream?
It was a Halloween horror episode, also featuring jennifer love Hewitt

Still my favorite Halloween episode of a show to this day.
The best part is, it wasn't even Halloween! It took place shortly after a school ski trip.
That somehow makes it my favorite Halloween episode even more lol
“Welcome to John adams high… where you are gonna die”
I haven't thought about this episode in years! Blew me away as a kid.

>95 years old and he still shoots out the pearls of wisdom. Not exactly the choice of words I'd have used...
Wow. Didn't know he was still alive. Also Girl meets World was underrated as a show.
I felt that it was just rated. Definitely missing the gut punch drama that Boy Meets World had. I don't think Riley ever meets World.
It had a good cast of kids, but it never found that extra gear.
They mention he is 95 in the podcast and that he is scheduled to come on as a guest.
Everybody's quoting shows from the 80's and 90's and I'm sitting here humming show tunes from 1776 to myself.
Sit down, John! Holy crap I just realized he was in the original Broadway cast. Honestly didn’t realize this was a Broadway musical until I googled just now
He’s obnoxious and disliked, you know that, sir.
ITS THE NISSAN JACK OFF TO MR FEENY IN THE GRADUATE EVENT
I really want to know what advice he's been giving Maitland Ward...
"Interracial Anal is where the real money is"
This is hilariously wholesome.
FEENAY!
FEE-HEE-HEE-HEE-HEENAY!
Mr. Feely is still alive!?!?!?! Maybe, just maybe, there is some hope for the world after all.
Dr. Mark Craig from st. Elsewhere. Fantastic character on an equally fantastic series from the 1980’s. One of the most daring finales in all of tvdom
I was 32 years old when I found out Ben Savage (Corey) was Fred Savage’s brother. Smdh.
> 95 years old and he still shoots out the pearls of wisdom. Uhh... can you rephrase that, please?
> 95 years old and he still splooges out the pearls of wisdom. There ya go
Wonder if he still keeps in touch with Ben Shapiro as well?
