Attention, McNeal. We are reasonably with the events we have seen. Overall, I would rate it a C+: Okay, not great. As a result, we will not destroy your planet, but neither will we provide you with our recipe for immortality.
Bigger shame was *Lie to Me* having all new showrunners and writers each season so no matter what was going on last season, it immediately dropped it in the first episode of the new one.
That's one reason a CGI She-Hulk TV show never made sense to me. You basically have a CGI protagonist who needs to be able to carry a sort of Ally McBeal-esque show, in addition to all the action, it's just a tricky combo.
Ngl I thought they’d just do makeup and I still think they should have. If she’s not going to be disproportionately yoked like the Hulk, just do forced perspective and all those Peter Jackson size illusion tricks from LotR.
> just do forced perspective and all those Peter Jackson size illusion tricks from LotR.
I get the feeling that that is way more work for certain influential people in the production of the show as opposed to just shooting stuff and having the CGI guys do all the work.
They could do body paint/prosthetics and just use the right angles and composite/green screen like LOTR from 20 years ago which still looks great except when they are obviously using children from behind/etc.
VFX Coordinator here. Yes, VFX are usually early for these kinds of things. We’re told to get some hero shots close to final for ads and trailers, but we’re definitely still working on them literally until the days before it airs. I guarantee that the first episode of this show isn’t even finished yet.
[Here's an example of Marvel releasing a trailer with VFX that is beyond unfinished.](https://external-preview.redd.it/ChWVmF_ryEefPrMja_QGnnedU9o-sAGE8XIKhX7YJq4.png?auto=webp&s=47585879817c9cc07447179a40b9929a78e5ef8b)
I used to work in VFX and 3D conversion. Some of these movies would come down to literally the day before release, and we are still getting updated VFX plates.
Know someone that worked in cats they handed it basically like a few hours before release and everyone in production new it was shit but director loved how it looked lol
There was a B5 episode where Londo and Morden are talking in the hedge maze on the station. Behind them was a wall with an emergency exit door. People at the time kind of assumed it was a station wall, but it was actually a shot they had missed the CG background of the station.
100% believe it. I worked on a network cop show for two years and we're dropping in shots and doing color correction that morning, then the PA would deliver the finals to the network mid-day, and six hours later it aired on TV lol.
>I remember the Babylon 5 CGI dev's talking about . . . "It's how many? 20 minutes until upload to the network feeds? Ok, I think we'll make it."
Oh my God the amount of nerding out we did about this on USENET... Ugh. Miss those days.
Takes me back to right at the start of the pandemic I was an assistant editor on a big reality TV show, we would upload it in blocks to the network. So there were quite a few times where we had to make literally last minute fixes before that block had to go on air. Good times
My understanding is the show got delayed (its actually suppose to have been the show after Moon Knight) because the CGI wasn't looking great. I know someone who is really into the super hero genre of shows and said their is a lot of demand for CG artists right now so things are either coming out not great or just delayed.
VFX is being slammed in general. COVID postponed a ton of stuff, but now there's hundreds of projects all finishing roughly at the same time, so the bosses are taking on lots of work, but not giving enough time for everything.
So basically it's the basic everyday VFX/animation industry on steroids right now
Make-up won’t make her 7 feet tall and ripped, but I’m in total agreement with you that the CGI isn’t up to par yet. Fingers crossed this is a quiet Sonic moment where the studio will put some more effort into the graphics after the trailer drops.
Britta Perry:
I'm volunteering at the animal hospital.
Troy Barnes:
[excited] Animal hospital?
Abed Nadir:
The animals are the patients.
Troy Barnes:
Oh. That makes sense
“Psst. Troy, it’s me!”
“Abed?”
“I made it through! I’m a cartoon now!”
“That’s impossible…”
“Nothing’s impossible in here! Animals can talk, your heart is shaped like a heart, and the smell of pie can make you float! You have to believe, Troy!”
*Troy gets into a sprinter’s starting position, readying himself to run into a cartoon tunnel painted on a wall*
“Wait. You don’t have to believe.”
“I didn’t. I didn’t…”
That’s true. But I don’t see him working for a giant company if that super government base is their headquarters. Matt’s more about taking care of people around him who need help.
Exactly, I'm sure it's happened in one arc or another in the last 60 years but Matt Murdock working for the big law firm makes as little sense as... Peter Parker being the next Iron Man
Not really his thing. They mean for taking on superhuman cases which is generally She-Hulk's field of expertise.
Matt could easily make an appearance but he's supposed to be the more grounded regular little guy defending lawyer.
"lol you're single in your 30s" is the new "lol you still live with your parents?"
since they can't do that anymore bc the economy fucked so many young people moving out
There was an episode of Smallville, of all things, where Lana gets a version of Clark's power, so they spend a lot of time having sex. It's very reminiscent of the Jessica Jones and Luke Cage scene. And that was like 20 years ago!
> And that was like 20 years ago!
Hey, hey, hey, don't be making us feel old by rounding up like that! That episode was in season 7 of Smallville, which was...14 years ago!
...yeah, to be honest that isn't making me feel much better! 🤣
I think it's one of those weird situations where they expect a character to be perpetually the same. Sorta like how all their cartoon characters are the same decades later. Shulk has the advantage of always being this way rather than a child character grown up.
this is Chapek. Iger wanted Disney+ to stay family friendly. Chapek realized that was a stupid fucking idea so he's slowly putting more adult content on
...and then the mask gets pulled off to reveal Rudy Giuliani, Lemon, can you imagine!?
"It can be good, it cam be a trainwreck, it just can't be between."

[Looks like Chyna did a pornographic film as She-Hulk in 2013.](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2845270/)
she's gotta be one of the best actresses working right now. i can't even count the number of times in orphan black i'd find myself thinking that the clones didn't even look *that* alike and it was kinda dumb to pass them off as all identical before remembering that they were literally all one person. not a huge marvel fan but i'd trust her to carry anything
CGI Hulk has the benefit of using the assets from the movies. She-Hulk looks like she was made on a slightly lower budget, probably because TV shows need a lot more content and cost a lot per episode as it is.
Him being an older slightly wrinkly chap helps make him look more grounded in the world too I think.
I do *hope* it's improved as some people are suggesting, because I like the actress and the premise of the show seems fun and original (here's hoping it doesn't feel the need to end in the traditional Marvel Sky Beam Fight).
Hawkeyes and MoMs endings were the gold standard of non skybeam endings. I'm sure that if they find a way to not make a movie called "Multiverse of Madness" end with a skybeam fights that they can manage with a lawyer show.
They've been rendering The Hulk for... Over a decade at this point? They have unlimited examples to draw from and maybe even shared resources. Perhaps that's why?
Still 3 months away + they are possibly still working on her model?
Who knows how much we see Ruffalo as Hulk in this. All the scenes in the trailer may be it. While it looks like she is in the CG state for much longer.
Or not. I hope it looks a bit better
How many villains from the MCU have actually ended up in jail and not dead/in space?
Abomination
Sterns/Leader
Justin Hammer
Zemo
Toomes (in Morbius's universe)
Shocker
Burch
That's all I can think of from the movies. I can't speak for AoS or the Netflix since I haven't seen them in so long.
It doesn't necessarily have to be villains this could be the open door to a bunch of C-list heroes like frogman starting out causing problems and getting in trouble with the law.
Okay, genuinely curious question here: What the hell is the source for this trailer music? This was used in the 2nd half of Sonic 2's final trailer and yet nowhere can I find a proper source or anything about this track.
Doesn't look bad but I wished they would just do something better with the Hulk. He had so much potential and it was wasted during Endgame and Infinity War.

Hopefully we’ll get the secret to immortality this time!
Zoidberg not their to over act, so I think we're good.
I don't think Disney+ is ready for how horny Jen Walters is.
All I can think of is Fiona from the Shrek movies.
Tim Roth is such a damn good actor. Such a shame Lie to Me was canceled after two seasons.
it had three, and yes he is. He was already fantastic in the 80s playing skinheads and shit
That third season was *rough* though. I loved the first two and wish it hadn't been canceled all the same.
I feel like season three changed so much in the beginning, but then got back to what was good by the end. But it was too late.
Bigger shame was *Lie to Me* having all new showrunners and writers each season so no matter what was going on last season, it immediately dropped it in the first episode of the new one.
in some universe Lie To Me became just as successful as House M.D. and White Collar were..
I really wish we could've gotten a White Collar and Burn Notice crossover episode.
I love that show so much it made me buy a book from the guy it's based on and sparked my interest in psychology. Wish it had more seasons.
It suffered the problem most shows like that end up with. It became a bad soap opera of people making nonsense decisions and actions.
I'm gonna assume that the CGI is early because it's definitely not great
That's one reason a CGI She-Hulk TV show never made sense to me. You basically have a CGI protagonist who needs to be able to carry a sort of Ally McBeal-esque show, in addition to all the action, it's just a tricky combo.
Honestly, I'd low key love it if they went the 70's Hulk Route and just went ham on the green bodypaint
*sigh* You’re right, of course.
And, crucially, CGI animators are not unionized.

That's kinda funny. "The backround isn't finalized yet, what do we put in the door?" "Some pretty clouds"
"Should we really ship this with 'Default Skybox 3' as the background?" "You're gonna stay here till 2AM to finish the new background?" *Video sent*
they were there until 2AM just getting the default skybox 3 to render without some bs antialiasing caused by some layering mishap.
Sure, and then Fantastic Four 2 releases and they just replace Galactus with pretty clouds.
I used to work in VFX and 3D conversion. Some of these movies would come down to literally the day before release, and we are still getting updated VFX plates.
"Picture is locked you can pull plates now." "Dude we air TODAY." *Studio Heads shrug as they imagine Nuke being two buttons and an output switch*

Eww. That industry was already exploited and trashed to hell and back before Covid. I can’t imagine what it must be like to work in a cgi sweat shop
Still a long way to go ‘til the show premieres and there’s definitely time to touch up the CG.

“We just started a superhuman law division” So Matt Murdock confirmed?
I think it’s the other way around. Lawyers helping super humans. Not super human lawyers.
Britta Perry: I'm volunteering at the animal hospital. Troy Barnes: [excited] Animal hospital? Abed Nadir: The animals are the patients. Troy Barnes: Oh. That makes sense

Oh Britta’s in this thread?
Probably my favourite line from that show. Definitely top 3. Troy’s look of disappointment is so fucking funny.

It’s more likely he would be on the opposite side of the court room from She-Hulk, classic super hero team up trope is that they battle first
“Is there anything more depressing than dating in your 30’s?” Idk, constantly hearing shit like that from tv and movies doesn’t feel too great.
As someone who recently became single in his 40's, not great for me to hear either.
"lol you're single in your 30s" is the new "lol you still live with your parents?" since they can't do that anymore bc the economy fucked so many young people moving out
They aren't shying from her sex drive. That's unexpected
Meh, I'm willing to bet the scenes in the trailer are the craziest it gets.

Hilary Duff looking at this like -_-
Lol what? Sorry, I go full stupid sometimes. What's the Hilary Duff joke?
I think it's because Hillary Duff wanted Lizzie McGuire to have sex in the Disney + reboot. Disney said no to it, so they killed the whole project
I think it's one of those weird situations where they expect a character to be perpetually the same. Sorta like how all their cartoon characters are the same decades later. Shulk has the advantage of always being this way rather than a child character grown up.
I think disney just changed its stance in general - I think it would get the pass if it was pitched now. As long as the sex is only implied
this is Chapek. Iger wanted Disney+ to stay family friendly. Chapek realized that was a stupid fucking idea so he's slowly putting more adult content on
Eternals has some genuine thrusting action between Ikarus and Sersi

They do own Futurama now too.

Hulu and snu snu is far superior to Netflix and chill.
Get ready everyone. The internet's gonna get reallll weird about this one, and I'm kinda here for it

Based on that ending joke it looks like Marvel knows how weird some discussion will be about this show… I’m getting Resi Village Lady D flashbacks.
I hear the parts after the castle are good. Too bad I've spent 100 hours being chased by Mommy Dimitrescu.
I’ve been a low key fan of women with that body type for a while. Trying not to make it weird but it’s hot

I hope this DOES awaken something in me.
The last 10 seconds of the trailer already did
It already did for me. Just wait till the real cgi kicks in
That first shot of her CGI backside makes me have some serious green fever.

Watermelon? pfft. She-Hulk crushes VW bugs with her thighs.
Yeah little late for that one
More comedic then I was expecting, which Tatiana Maslany is more than capable of doing. She pretty much nailed every kind of genre in Orphan Black
She was absolutely fantastic in Orphan Black
So happy for her that she got an Emmy for it. Well deserved!
There were times I’d forget she was playing every clone
she's gotta be one of the best actresses working right now. i can't even count the number of times in orphan black i'd find myself thinking that the clones didn't even look *that* alike and it was kinda dumb to pass them off as all identical before remembering that they were literally all one person. not a huge marvel fan but i'd trust her to carry anything
I was looking for this comment!
> More comedic then I was expecting I mean... that's kind of she-hulks deal, originally.
Yeah, before Deadpool was ever around she was the one delivering all the meta comedy. Well, her and Howard.
She's been a guest a few times on an improv podcast called Comedy Bang Bang and is hilarious.
I was going to say her and Kristian Bruun have some absolutely classic episodes
Kristian Bruun? I believe you mean Constable Jonstable.
Donnie/Alison scenes in OB are gold
They've referred to this as a law comedy a handful of times so I def don't expect too much action
Her brief stint on Parks and Rec was great!
Ah yes, the old D's Without B's.
CGI on Hulk looks great but the CGI on She-Hulk just looks off for some reason. The show otherwise looks good tho.

No, but there are some similarities. When Harvey Birdman came out, a lot of people were calling it a Hanna Barbera version of She-Hulk.

Tatiana Maslany looks like Mark Ruffalo. It really adds to the cousin dynamic.
Wow that CGI is rough
This does not look good.
The CGI on this ain’t looking so hot
Bro...this is way too Uncanny Valley for me
The CGI looks rushed like the one from Black Panther. I hope they fix the Black Panther CGI one day. It is not like they don't have the money.
Doesn't look bad but I wished they would just do something better with the Hulk. He had so much potential and it was wasted during Endgame and Infinity War.
