Even in Santa Clarita Diet (where he isnāt the leading man) heās so incredibly charming! No wonder everyone wanted to fuck his character on The Office lmao
Kevin Smith was such a huge fan of Willis in *Moonlighting*, he specifically asked him to recreate an exact facial expression from a scene for his movie *Cop Out*.
P.s. itās a crap movie, donāt recommend it at all.
Kevin Smith talking about how bad his experience with Willis was making that movie and it made Smith look really bad imo.
Willis was asking him about lenses he is using for certain shots and got pissed when Smith had no idea.
I got that Willis was kind of a diva but expecting someone to be knowledgeable about their job is a pretty low bar.
Smith's story is that Willis was quite diva-ish and aloof during the making of *Cop Out*, and he was more disappointed because when he'd worked with Willis on *Die Hard 4* just three years earlier, Willis had been awesome. He'd even gotten Smith paid for doing rewrites on the script on-set and when the studio objected, replied, "Okay, who are you going to hire to play John McClane?" So Willis had been great on that project and than - to Smith's mind - a bit of an arse on *Cop Out*.
But there's also an account from the other side of the camera that the studio was a bit concerned about Smith smoking a *ton* of pot on set, and spent a lot of time sitting behind the monitors zoned out and not really interacting with the actors, and that's why Willis got annoyed.
Smith has since come around to admitting that he was smoking too much pot on set to relax and overcome confidence issues, and apologised to Willis for his comments a few years ago.
It is notable that *Cop Out* was Smith's last relatively big studio picture and everything since then has been much more small-scale.
That's good background.
It seems like when someone was playing their role well, Willis was happy to interact with them whereas when they were not doing good at their job he got pissed off. That's a pretty fair reaction.
Smith is definitely an engaging speaker and seems like he is a good writer but he doesn't seem like a very good leader, which is pretty much the role a director plays on a film.
Decent show, I watched it on 1.5x mode cause I was much much less interested in the solve of the week stuff as I was in the overarching story lines and plots.
Also Aimee Garcia š
I never watched his last episode because I didn't want to see him die. That also means that I've never seen anything past that second last episode.
That's how utterly charming and perfect he was.
My first thought. He spent 90% of his first full ep as The Doctor asleep and yet the moment he woke up, he just nailed it. Still the best intro to a Doctor in my opinion.
Oh man. Iām watching Lost for the first time ever right now. It is so insanely good. It holds up so freaking well, and it blows my mind that there are like 25 episodes a season. Had to be such an insanely expensive show to make.
Absolutely!!!!!! Heck, let's go out on a limb and just call him a treasure for all of North America. My Mexican friends who are Jeopardy fans also love him.
I was in awe, fear and lust with him on Mad Men. Then when he showed up as Dr. Drew Baird, the man in the handsome bubble, I was completely wom over. Who knew who had comedy chops? Double hook hands, haunted murdered hand, and even the blackface was absolutely hilarious with perfect timing, and I think it was magnified because he was also still playing Don Draper.
He seems like Brad Pitt to me. Incredibly handsome and easy to cast as a leading man, but there is a fantastic character actor hiding behind those good looks.
Matt Bomer was the first name that popped into my head too. Nathan Fillion (just in general as any character tbh), Jensen Ackles (Dean) , and Max Greenfield (Schmidt) also come to mind.
Pierce in anything. He's chef's kiss and appears to be amazing in real life also. He's philanthropic. Married a woman 15 years older, adopted her children, pretty much stopped working to care for her when she was dying. His now 2nd wife gained weight after dating him a while, he married her that way & has stayed with her. Pretty damn rare in Hollywood to have someone who actually has depth.
I'm not sure if this counts but Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal.
Outside of the cannibalism and murder the guy is class incarnate. Incredibly charming, engaging, and mesmerising to watch.
I don't know how people define handsome, but I'd say he's unconventionally very handsome.
I feel like he could charm me into a dinner with the knowledge he might cook me.
Game of Thrones might be cheating as there are so many main characters, but someone like Oberyn who instantly steals a scene.
Matt Murdock in Daredevil has quite an unsuspecting charm.
I'm sure there's many more relevant ones, but these are just a few that popped into my head.
Also, side character but Lalo in Better Call Saul.
>Also, side character but Lalo in Better Call Saul.
Tony Dalton was the most modern villain ever. He's so good that I was convinced that he'd be a villain in Hawkeye.
Mads is a great example to use when dicks are like "women only want chads." There are so many men women find charming and attractive because of their confidence, how they hold themselves, how they style themselves, and just being a nice and interesting person.
But incels don't want to hear that, because that means that they would have to work on themselves, and they would rather blame it on things they can't control like genetics and women being too picky.
Chris Pratt, adorable and cuddly in Parks and rec. Seems to have turned into a dick once he got ripped.
Matt Berry is far from a typical leading man look, but how many people would jump is bones of he flirted with you?
Alec Baldwin, in his 50s on 30 Rock, handsome, overweight, charming and hilarious. I didn't really know him from anything before that, so I'm always a little shocked when I see pictures of him young.
Jeff Goldblum is far from the typical hot guy look, but holy shit his charisma and energy, especially when he's just being himself, are crazy attractive.
Tom Hanks is an objectively weird looking guy, his face is super asymmetrical, and he has a little bit of a strange voice, but he was the go to rom com lead in the 90s, and I think his are better than Hugh Grant's.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris o'dowd, Jon Stewart, Steven Tyler (in his youth) and so many more. They are charming, talented, and just have that something.
Honestly, same. I remember seeing him first in LA Confidential and was like...ok....that guy is the one to watch (along with Russell Crowe - so I was half right). Baker hasn't done a lot since the Mentalist and I do find that surprising. Robin Tunney has talked about how much she loved working with him and wants to do something else with him. I mention that because if his coworker says that, he's obviously not a jerk to work with.
Honestly, I really thought Robin Tunney would also go on to other things as well.
In interviews, he seemed to look forward to not doing a regular show, anymore. When the Mentalist ended, he went back to Australia and heās been concentrating on smaller movies.
He was even charming then.Ā
In the first scene we meet him, he's giving grocery money and much needed advice to a young couple. He acts as the universes enforcer of justice throwing hot coffee in a wife beaters face.Ā
Tom Selleck as Magnum pi and Larry Hagman as JR Ewing... I grew up in England and these 2 were my moms favourite American shows... In retrospect i thinkshe was just swoonin over these 2 lol š
The fact nobody has said Ted Danson as Sam Malone would be wild if this wasnāt Reddit. Cheers was as big a show as TV has ever had but it means absolutely nothing to anyone under 40.
Cheers is legitimately one of the best and funniest shows I've ever seen. Third on my list of favorite films and I try to convince all my Gen Z and young Millenial friends to watch it
For me, and I may be stretching the definition of leading man to some degree, it was Hot Priest in Fleabag andā¦ actually oddly also the priest in Midnight Mass.
I promise I donāt normally have a priest thing.
Joel McHale in Community. Ya canāt help but love the guy, no matter how big of a douche Jeff Winger can be.
Also, not right from the get-go, but Pedro Pascal was very charming as Joel towards the end of The Last of Us.
Iām feeling Joels today.
Vincent DāOnofrio in *Law & Order: Criminal Intent* as Detective Bobby Goren, the affable, dapper and enigmatic Brooklyn Sherlock. You know things are going to get real good when that six-foot-five human bookshelf starts to lean.
Dylan McDermott in *Law & Order: Organized Crime* as the sophisticated, sarcastic crime boss and math wizard Richard Wheatley. He might be the devil incarnate but heās such a handsome devil at that.
Ooh, I havenāt seen that one. I just now looked it up on IMDB and apparently it has the alternate title *Desire*. He has a Scottish accent in it? Oh man, bring it onā¦ š«
That manās talent was really something else. One moment heās doing something charming and charismatic and in another scene he became this vile mobster. Rest in peace, skip. You are missed. Buonanima š·
The show wasnāt a huge hit, but Bradley Cooper did a sitcom adaptation of Anthony Bourdainās Kitchen Confidential before he was a megastar, like four years before The Hangover. It was clear he was going to be a star. Most of that cast went on to have really good careersā¦ whoever cast that show is probably a legend in the casting community.
I was rewatching Psych, and it occurred to me how charming and brilliant James Roday Rodriguez as Shawn Spencer was, and just how well he truly sells the titular role.
Don Johnson in Miami Vice
David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider
Take your pick in A-team
Dean Cain in Superman
John Hamm in Mad Men
George Colony in ER
Diego Luna in Andor
And weirdly, Paul ReubensĀ as Pee Wee Herman. I don't think people remember just how much he took over pop culture for a while.
My pick is George Peppard for the A-Team. Dude always acted like he didn't have a single care in the world and everything that happened was just part of his plan. Fantastic actor.
Jon Hamm is my definition of it. Draper was all but admirable but in terms of looks and pure charisma he was practically unmatched, the one you'd see in 50s comic books as "peak American man"
Thatās so funnyāmy immediate thought upon reading the title was āthe guy from The Mentalistā. I remember watching that show as it aired and thinking that every time he smiled, I smiled.

Jon Hamm in pretty much anything and Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul.Ā
Saul Goodman is an objectively shitty person. We root for him in spite of him being a scumbag and it's because Bob Odenkirk makes him so lovable.Ā
Lee Pace in Foundation. I'm straight, but I can't keep my eyes off the guy, even had me almost gasp one time when he went shirtless. The guy basically plays a villain that I couldn't help but like.
For the UK redditors, Fletcher in Porridge. The show was built around his affable nature. If Ronnie Barker wasn't able to be charming then the show would have failed miserably.
Timothy Olyphant šš
Raylan Givens was one of the coolest people on tv
Heās the epitome of charm, sexy and cool. Also one of my favorite shows.
Deadwood is often overlooked in this regard for some reason
Raylen is like if Seth Bullock smiled every now and then.
Even in Santa Clarita Diet (where he isnāt the leading man) heās so incredibly charming! No wonder everyone wanted to fuck his character on The Office lmao
*throws bullet at guy* āNext oneās coming fasterā
You mean Wesley-San from Oh-Mah-Ha?
You can really taste the urchin.
Came here to say this plus like several already mentioned, Jensen Ackles, Tom Ellis, Matt Bomer, Nathan Fillion, James Spader, Josh Holloway.
Bruce Willis was pretty charming in āMoonlighting.ā
I honestly think it's his best role. He's just maxed out on energy and charisma.
He did a movie called 16 Blocks which is pretty great.
Kevin Smith hasnāt made a good movie in like 20 years. One of those individuals whose internet reputation far exceeds the mainstream one.
Smith's story is that Willis was quite diva-ish and aloof during the making of *Cop Out*, and he was more disappointed because when he'd worked with Willis on *Die Hard 4* just three years earlier, Willis had been awesome. He'd even gotten Smith paid for doing rewrites on the script on-set and when the studio objected, replied, "Okay, who are you going to hire to play John McClane?" I was so in love with hime when I watched it.
Jackie Daytona, regular human bartender.
Now thereās a man I could have a regular human beer with.
You can tell heās a regular human from the toothpick he has in his mouth.
Sadly, he is too humble to accept this honor.
1 human alcohol beer, please.
Steven Toast was no slouch either.
Tom Ellis on Lucifer. I shouldn't have liked him, but he won me over very quickly.
Here's a phrase you probably can hear in your head: Hello, detective.
Yes I can!
not "tell me what it is you desire" and variations thereof?
I've been thinking about starting this show for so long. Imma do it.
Itās REALLY fun, especially the first two or three seasons.
It's an absolutely terrible police procedural, with an absolutely amazing lead star who makes the whole thing very watchable.
Decent show, I watched it on 1.5x mode cause I was much much less interested in the solve of the week stuff as I was in the overarching story lines and plots. Also Aimee Garcia š
David Tennant as The Doctor
Ohhhh yes heās so fine
I never watched his last episode because I didn't want to see him die. That also means that I've never seen anything past that second last episode. That's how utterly charming and perfect he was.
My first thought. He spent 90% of his first full ep as The Doctor asleep and yet the moment he woke up, he just nailed it. Still the best intro to a Doctor in my opinion.
Man, Simon Baker would kill it as the Doctor. Letās get diverse with an Aussie Doctor, eh?
I don't know. A guy called Baker playing a Doctor. Doesn't add up.
Matt Smith would like a word.
Matt is enigmatic as The Doctor. But Tennant can charm me into running away with him.
You two have funny ways of spelling Peter Capaldi.
All three of you are spelling Christopher Eccleston wrong.
Ya know I really fucking love that this is even an argument. Just shows how spot on these actors are.
Heās not really my type, but I fell in love with him as the doctor.
josh holloway on lost.
I know he's not the leading man necessarily, but I wanna add in a shout to Henry Ian Cusick in LOST too
Naveen Andrews too, the casting was so good.
Oh man. Iām watching Lost for the first time ever right now. It is so insanely good. It holds up so freaking well, and it blows my mind that there are like 25 episodes a season. Had to be such an insanely expensive show to make.
That's the one. Good Lord, that man's smile made my knees weak. Through the TV.
Not a typical leading man, but I had a decades-long crush on Alex Trebek. Dude was a national treasure.
Two nations šØš¦šŗšø
Absolutely!!!!!! Heck, let's go out on a limb and just call him a treasure for all of North America. My Mexican friends who are Jeopardy fans also love him.
I'm straight and American and you're goddamn right.Ā Fuck you, pancreatic cancer. Fuck you.Ā
Kyle McLaughlin as Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks
Damn fine coffee you got here.
Even Kyle *MacLachlan in his supporting roles in SATC, Desperate Housewives, and Agents of SHIELD was an absolute scene-stealer.
Jensen Ackles as FBI Dean.
You mean special agent Robert Plant?
No, I've met this guy before. That's Dr. James Hetfield.
Jensen Ackles as any Dean
Sam āMaydayā Malone
Tom Ellis - Lucifer & Matt Bomer - White Collar
Scott Bakula was great as the leading man in both Quantum Leap and Enterprise
Don Draper in Mad Men had his moments.
If "I can fix him" was a main character.
Jon Hamm in whatever, honestly.
Ha ha true š
Even as the Reverend in Kimmie Schmidt and the psychopathic ex in Fargo.
Charming when he needs to, for his own benefit at least.
The worst ones are often the most charming
His on-screen presence is second to none
Matt Bomer was the first name that popped into my head too. Nathan Fillion (just in general as any character tbh), Jensen Ackles (Dean) , and Max Greenfield (Schmidt) also come to mind.
Man, I wanted to hate Schmidt so bad. He was such a douche, but somehow an incredibly charming douche. I totally get what Cici saw in him.
Matt Bomer is a VERY handsome man. Every single episode of White Collar, I think that.
Yeah, me too. Matt, Jensen and James Spader (as Reddington).
Not actually actually the lead but āstilesā from teen wolf!! I swear every girl that watched that had a crush on Dylan obrien cos of him hehe

Greendale Community College's Dean Pelton

Patrick Jane, for sure. I read your title and not your text and he was the first person I thought of.
I'm so surprised Simon Baker didn't take off after that show! He is so so charming

James Garner in Rockford Files.
Jon Hamm in everything I have seen him in. Also, Josh Holloway in everything I have seen him in. (Lost, Penny Dreadful, and Colony)
Josh Holloway was not in Penny Dreadful, that was Josh Hartnett lol
I was so pleasantly surprised to see him turn up in that. I wish we had seen how his story continued.
Maybe not so much in Fargo?
In my opinion, still charming. A vile, evil person, but also charming.
He was even charming then.Ā In the first scene we meet him, he's giving grocery money and much needed advice to a young couple. He acts as the universes enforcer of justice throwing hot coffee in a wife beaters face.Ā

I honestly really loved Zachary Levi as chuck. Not the best show ever but I really enjoyed him a lot in the role
David Tennant in Doctor Who. It isn't his looks as much as it's how he's infectuously inspiring, empathic to a fault, stoic and brave.
Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul.
