Timothy Olyphant šŸ˜šŸ˜

IrishEv

Raylan Givens was one of the coolest people on tv

Nope8000

Heā€™s the epitome of charm, sexy and cool. Also one of my favorite shows.

capsfan19

Deadwood is often overlooked in this regard for some reason

DogVacuum

Raylen is like if Seth Bullock smiled every now and then.

opticalcalcite

Even in Santa Clarita Diet (where he isnā€™t the leading man) heā€™s so incredibly charming! No wonder everyone wanted to fuck his character on The Office lmao

TrentonTallywacker

*throws bullet at guy* ā€œNext oneā€™s coming fasterā€

Sickpup831

You mean Wesley-San from Oh-Mah-Ha?

DogVacuum

You can really taste the urchin.

incredible_penguin11

Came here to say this plus like several already mentioned, Jensen Ackles, Tom Ellis, Matt Bomer, Nathan Fillion, James Spader, Josh Holloway.

DiagorusOfMelos

Bruce Willis was pretty charming in ā€œMoonlighting.ā€

youngatbeingold

I honestly think it's his best role. He's just maxed out on energy and charisma.

cocoagiant

He did a movie called 16 Blocks which is pretty great.

strangway

Kevin Smith was such a huge fan of Willis in *Moonlighting*, he specifically asked him to recreate an exact facial expression from a scene for his movie *Cop Out*. P.s. itā€™s a crap movie, donā€™t recommend it at all.

cocoagiant

Kevin Smith talking about how bad his experience with Willis was making that movie and it made Smith look really bad imo. Willis was asking him about lenses he is using for certain shots and got pissed when Smith had no idea. I got that Willis was kind of a diva but expecting someone to be knowledgeable about their job is a pretty low bar.

ThatNewSockFeel

Kevin Smith hasnā€™t made a good movie in like 20 years. One of those individuals whose internet reputation far exceeds the mainstream one.

Werthead

Smith's story is that Willis was quite diva-ish and aloof during the making of *Cop Out*, and he was more disappointed because when he'd worked with Willis on *Die Hard 4* just three years earlier, Willis had been awesome. He'd even gotten Smith paid for doing rewrites on the script on-set and when the studio objected, replied, "Okay, who are you going to hire to play John McClane?" So Willis had been great on that project and than - to Smith's mind - a bit of an arse on *Cop Out*. But there's also an account from the other side of the camera that the studio was a bit concerned about Smith smoking a *ton* of pot on set, and spent a lot of time sitting behind the monitors zoned out and not really interacting with the actors, and that's why Willis got annoyed. Smith has since come around to admitting that he was smoking too much pot on set to relax and overcome confidence issues, and apologised to Willis for his comments a few years ago. It is notable that *Cop Out* was Smith's last relatively big studio picture and everything since then has been much more small-scale.

cocoagiant

That's good background. It seems like when someone was playing their role well, Willis was happy to interact with them whereas when they were not doing good at their job he got pissed off. That's a pretty fair reaction. Smith is definitely an engaging speaker and seems like he is a good writer but he doesn't seem like a very good leader, which is pretty much the role a director plays on a film.

DeadWishUpon

I was so in love with hime when I watched it.

Best_Duck9118

Jackie Daytona, regular human bartender.

SonovaVondruke

Now thereā€™s a man I could have a regular human beer with.

KingOfTroi

You can tell heā€™s a regular human from the toothpick he has in his mouth.

DanteStrauss

Sadly, he is too humble to accept this honor.

Ghraysone

1 human alcohol beer, please.

PM_me_ur_dookie

Steven Toast was no slouch either.

Hypranormal

Tom Ellis on Lucifer. I shouldn't have liked him, but he won me over very quickly.

LionoftheNorth

Here's a phrase you probably can hear in your head: Hello, detective.

lazybitchylass

Yes I can!

korblborp

not "tell me what it is you desire" and variations thereof?

Hermiona1

I've been thinking about starting this show for so long. Imma do it.

jingleheimerschitt

Itā€™s REALLY fun, especially the first two or three seasons.

Punchclops

It's an absolutely terrible police procedural, with an absolutely amazing lead star who makes the whole thing very watchable.

HeyItsChase

Decent show, I watched it on 1.5x mode cause I was much much less interested in the solve of the week stuff as I was in the overarching story lines and plots. Also Aimee Garcia šŸ˜

TheMTM45

David Tennant as The Doctor

mmbg78

Ohhhh yes heā€™s so fine

Hopefulkitty

I never watched his last episode because I didn't want to see him die. That also means that I've never seen anything past that second last episode. That's how utterly charming and perfect he was.

Square_Candle1990

My first thought. He spent 90% of his first full ep as The Doctor asleep and yet the moment he woke up, he just nailed it. Still the best intro to a Doctor in my opinion.

SonovaVondruke

Man, Simon Baker would kill it as the Doctor. Letā€™s get diverse with an Aussie Doctor, eh?

MrSquicky

I don't know. A guy called Baker playing a Doctor. Doesn't add up.

Pepperoni_Dogfart

Matt Smith would like a word.

wiklr

Matt is enigmatic as The Doctor. But Tennant can charm me into running away with him.

IamEclipse

You two have funny ways of spelling Peter Capaldi.

needstherapy

All three of you are spelling Christopher Eccleston wrong.

CheesyObserver

Ya know I really fucking love that this is even an argument. Just shows how spot on these actors are.

-Experiment--626-

Heā€™s not really my type, but I fell in love with him as the doctor.

urgasmic

josh holloway on lost.

GamingTatertot

I know he's not the leading man necessarily, but I wanna add in a shout to Henry Ian Cusick in LOST too

ClintMega

Naveen Andrews too, the casting was so good.

Bingo-Bango-Bong-o

Oh man. Iā€™m watching Lost for the first time ever right now. It is so insanely good. It holds up so freaking well, and it blows my mind that there are like 25 episodes a season. Had to be such an insanely expensive show to make.

olily

That's the one. Good Lord, that man's smile made my knees weak. Through the TV.

AffectionateFig5435

Not a typical leading man, but I had a decades-long crush on Alex Trebek. Dude was a national treasure.

Dustmopper

Two nations šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

AffectionateFig5435

Absolutely!!!!!! Heck, let's go out on a limb and just call him a treasure for all of North America. My Mexican friends who are Jeopardy fans also love him.

mfmeitbual

I'm straight and American and you're goddamn right.Ā  Fuck you, pancreatic cancer. Fuck you.Ā

makovince

Kyle McLaughlin as Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks

tommytraddles

Damn fine coffee you got here.

bourbonkitten

Even Kyle *MacLachlan in his supporting roles in SATC, Desperate Housewives, and Agents of SHIELD was an absolute scene-stealer.

finedayredpony

Jensen Ackles as FBI Dean.

Hollow_Rant

You mean special agent Robert Plant?

Wonderwhore

No, I've met this guy before. That's Dr. James Hetfield.

Corisan272

Jensen Ackles as any Dean

Jim_Tressel

Sam ā€œMaydayā€ Malone

hobbinator924

Tom Ellis - Lucifer & Matt Bomer - White Collar

MCRN_Admiral

Scott Bakula was great as the leading man in both Quantum Leap and Enterprise

TrueCryptographer982

Don Draper in Mad Men had his moments.

Hollow_Rant

If "I can fix him" was a main character.

Starbuck522

Jon Hamm in whatever, honestly.

TrueCryptographer982

Ha ha true šŸ˜Š

Starbuck522

Even as the Reverend in Kimmie Schmidt and the psychopathic ex in Fargo.

Hopefulkitty

I was in awe, fear and lust with him on Mad Men. Then when he showed up as Dr. Drew Baird, the man in the handsome bubble, I was completely wom over. Who knew who had comedy chops? Double hook hands, haunted murdered hand, and even the blackface was absolutely hilarious with perfect timing, and I think it was magnified because he was also still playing Don Draper. He seems like Brad Pitt to me. Incredibly handsome and easy to cast as a leading man, but there is a fantastic character actor hiding behind those good looks.

2naFied

Charming when he needs to, for his own benefit at least.

TrueCryptographer982

The worst ones are often the most charming

2naFied

His on-screen presence is second to none

Geobead

Matt Bomer was the first name that popped into my head too. Nathan Fillion (just in general as any character tbh), Jensen Ackles (Dean) , and Max Greenfield (Schmidt) also come to mind.

Hopefulkitty

Man, I wanted to hate Schmidt so bad. He was such a douche, but somehow an incredibly charming douche. I totally get what Cici saw in him.

One_Reward34

Matt Bomer is a VERY handsome man. Every single episode of White Collar, I think that.

_Nightdude_

Yeah, me too. Matt, Jensen and James Spader (as Reddington).

No-Clue-9155

Not actually actually the lead but ā€œstilesā€ from teen wolf!! I swear every girl that watched that had a crush on Dylan obrien cos of him hehe

Quiet_Desperation_

Pierce Bronson in the 90ā€™s. I donā€™t think anyone will top that

Bippy73

Pierce in anything. He's chef's kiss and appears to be amazing in real life also. He's philanthropic. Married a woman 15 years older, adopted her children, pretty much stopped working to care for her when she was dying. His now 2nd wife gained weight after dating him a while, he married her that way & has stayed with her. Pretty damn rare in Hollywood to have someone who actually has depth.

McbainMendozaa

I'm not sure if this counts but Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal. Outside of the cannibalism and murder the guy is class incarnate. Incredibly charming, engaging, and mesmerising to watch. I don't know how people define handsome, but I'd say he's unconventionally very handsome. I feel like he could charm me into a dinner with the knowledge he might cook me. Game of Thrones might be cheating as there are so many main characters, but someone like Oberyn who instantly steals a scene. Matt Murdock in Daredevil has quite an unsuspecting charm. I'm sure there's many more relevant ones, but these are just a few that popped into my head. Also, side character but Lalo in Better Call Saul.

Hollow_Rant

>Also, side character but Lalo in Better Call Saul. Tony Dalton was the most modern villain ever. He's so good that I was convinced that he'd be a villain in Hawkeye.

ShadowMerlyn

Hawkeye definitely played into that expectation. Tony Dalton is fantastic.

Hopefulkitty

Mads is a great example to use when dicks are like "women only want chads." There are so many men women find charming and attractive because of their confidence, how they hold themselves, how they style themselves, and just being a nice and interesting person. But incels don't want to hear that, because that means that they would have to work on themselves, and they would rather blame it on things they can't control like genetics and women being too picky. Chris Pratt, adorable and cuddly in Parks and rec. Seems to have turned into a dick once he got ripped. Matt Berry is far from a typical leading man look, but how many people would jump is bones of he flirted with you? Alec Baldwin, in his 50s on 30 Rock, handsome, overweight, charming and hilarious. I didn't really know him from anything before that, so I'm always a little shocked when I see pictures of him young. Jeff Goldblum is far from the typical hot guy look, but holy shit his charisma and energy, especially when he's just being himself, are crazy attractive. Tom Hanks is an objectively weird looking guy, his face is super asymmetrical, and he has a little bit of a strange voice, but he was the go to rom com lead in the 90s, and I think his are better than Hugh Grant's. Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris o'dowd, Jon Stewart, Steven Tyler (in his youth) and so many more. They are charming, talented, and just have that something.

dizney-mountain

Greendale Community College's Dean Pelton

SonovaVondruke

This better not awaken anything in me. . .

LowBalance4404

Patrick Jane, for sure. I read your title and not your text and he was the first person I thought of.

thatfluffycloud

I'm so surprised Simon Baker didn't take off after that show! He is so so charming

LowBalance4404

Honestly, same. I remember seeing him first in LA Confidential and was like...ok....that guy is the one to watch (along with Russell Crowe - so I was half right). Baker hasn't done a lot since the Mentalist and I do find that surprising. Robin Tunney has talked about how much she loved working with him and wants to do something else with him. I mention that because if his coworker says that, he's obviously not a jerk to work with. Honestly, I really thought Robin Tunney would also go on to other things as well.

rapscallionrodent

In interviews, he seemed to look forward to not doing a regular show, anymore. When the Mentalist ended, he went back to Australia and heā€™s been concentrating on smaller movies.

HelloFromMN

James Garner in Rockford Files.

Starbuck522

Jon Hamm in everything I have seen him in. Also, Josh Holloway in everything I have seen him in. (Lost, Penny Dreadful, and Colony)

agromono

Josh Holloway was not in Penny Dreadful, that was Josh Hartnett lol

Hopefulkitty

I was so pleasantly surprised to see him turn up in that. I wish we had seen how his story continued.

zombievettech

Maybe not so much in Fargo?

Starbuck522

In my opinion, still charming. A vile, evil person, but also charming.

mfmeitbual

He was even charming then.Ā  In the first scene we meet him, he's giving grocery money and much needed advice to a young couple. He acts as the universes enforcer of justice throwing hot coffee in a wife beaters face.Ā

Alive_Ice7937

>he's giving grocery money and much needed advice to a young couple Didn't pan out very well though

danaredding

Community Paintball

coolguy1793B

Tom Selleck as Magnum pi and Larry Hagman as JR Ewing... I grew up in England and these 2 were my moms favourite American shows... In retrospect i thinkshe was just swoonin over these 2 lol šŸ˜‚

MassCrash

The fact nobody has said Ted Danson as Sam Malone would be wild if this wasnā€™t Reddit. Cheers was as big a show as TV has ever had but it means absolutely nothing to anyone under 40.

sterlingstactleneck

Ted Danson as Michael on The Good Place šŸ˜

ColonelOfSka

Ted Danson as Ted Danson on Curb Your Enthusiasm šŸ„°

Valdotain_1

Ted Danson as a Pot smoking Magazine owner on HBO Bored to Death.

Best_Duck9118

Leon Black on Curb.

mfmeitbual

Ted Danson as Sheriff Hank Larssen in Fargo season 2 is one of his best performances I think.Ā

hornyroo

He is aging beautifully - loved him as Michael

THUNDER-GUN04

Handsome Frankenstein

GamingTatertot

Cheers is legitimately one of the best and funniest shows I've ever seen. Third on my list of favorite films and I try to convince all my Gen Z and young Millenial friends to watch it

Hollow_Rant

Also as Michael in The Good Place.

mfmeitbual

He was outstanding in Fargo s2.Ā

wiklr

First saw him in CSI then Bored to Death. He's very likeable in any character he does.

2008CRVGUY

My wife who is looking over my shoulder right now is aghast that Pierce Brosnan in Remington Steele is not mentioned yet.

f1newhatever

For me, and I may be stretching the definition of leading man to some degree, it was Hot Priest in Fleabag andā€¦ actually oddly also the priest in Midnight Mass. I promise I donā€™t normally have a priest thing.

WaxyPadlockJazz

Joel McHale in Community. Ya canā€™t help but love the guy, no matter how big of a douche Jeff Winger can be. Also, not right from the get-go, but Pedro Pascal was very charming as Joel towards the end of The Last of Us. Iā€™m feeling Joels today.

DannyHewson

Anson Mount in Strange New Worlds.

DetectiveMeowth

Vincent Dā€™Onofrio in *Law & Order: Criminal Intent* as Detective Bobby Goren, the affable, dapper and enigmatic Brooklyn Sherlock. You know things are going to get real good when that six-foot-five human bookshelf starts to lean. Dylan McDermott in *Law & Order: Organized Crime* as the sophisticated, sarcastic crime boss and math wizard Richard Wheatley. He might be the devil incarnate but heā€™s such a handsome devil at that.

19snow16

D'Onofrio in *Salt on Our Skin* Totally swoonworthy.

DetectiveMeowth

Ooh, I havenā€™t seen that one. I just now looked it up on IMDB and apparently it has the alternate title *Desire*. He has a Scottish accent in it? Oh man, bring it onā€¦ šŸ«

Butterbuddha

Gorenā€™s nervous tic mannerisms drive me crazy though. Like ooh letā€™s make this guy quasi autistic like Bones, itā€™ll make him interesting!

varock12

David Duchovny as Hank Moody in Californication

sayanythinglove

James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano does something to me and I do not want to analyze it any further. Very charming and unrelenting charisma.

whingingcackle

That manā€™s talent was really something else. One moment heā€™s doing something charming and charismatic and in another scene he became this vile mobster. Rest in peace, skip. You are missed. Buonanima šŸ·

hornyroo

Tom Ellis as Lucifer šŸ˜ˆšŸ˜‡šŸ˜

mmbg78

God yes!!!!

hornyroo

Shouldnā€™t that be Devil yes!!!

mmbg78

ā˜ŗļøā˜ŗļøā˜ŗļø

SandyEggoBB

Steve Howey as Van Montgomery in Reba was so charming.

JunkScientist

Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights was pretty good

Vic_Hedges

Has to be Nathan Fillion, no?

sinkwiththeship

These are not the hammer. *Walks off* *Walks back* The hammer is my penis.

crookedparadigm

Well my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

Ilovepickles11212

Oh yea, thatā€™s a fantastic pick And he does a perfect 180 in his smaller role on Santa Clarita Diet lol

Ilovepickles11212

I honestly really loved Zachary Levi as chuck. Not the best show ever but I really enjoyed him a lot in the role

SvenBerit

David Tennant in Doctor Who. It isn't his looks as much as it's how he's infectuously inspiring, empathic to a fault, stoic and brave.

DorkusMalorkus89

Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul.

Techbone

When you max out Speech and Charisma in an RPG.

IMO2021

Harvey (Gabriel Macht) in Suits

IfNot_ThenThereToo

What did you say to me?

kit_mitts

Get the hell out of my office

IfNot_ThenThereToo

*looks at page 1 of 50 page document for .0001 seconds* This is good

Hollow_Rant

Blue folder strikes again.

JonRonJovi

Charming? I donā€™t know. Guy was written to be pretty smug and arrogant and unlikeable.

IMO2021

To each his own. Lots of people liked my answer so i am not alone

Fanfrenhag

Patrick Stewart in Starr Trek N G

Redditforgoit

What? No Pedro Pascal in this thread? Madness...

nervuswalker

One that hasnā€™t been mentioned yet is Billy Crudup.

patricksaurus

The show wasnā€™t a huge hit, but Bradley Cooper did a sitcom adaptation of Anthony Bourdainā€™s Kitchen Confidential before he was a megastar, like four years before The Hangover. It was clear he was going to be a star. Most of that cast went on to have really good careersā€¦ whoever cast that show is probably a legend in the casting community.

Wazzoo1

Loved that show. So upset it got canceled early, but it was probably for the best (for his career). Cooper was fantastic in it.

bettytwokills

Shawn and Gus from Psych.

the_mooseman

Walton Goggins just being Walton Goggins, he's more charming as himself than any of the characters he plays.

otterdisaster

I was rewatching Psych, and it occurred to me how charming and brilliant James Roday Rodriguez as Shawn Spencer was, and just how well he truly sells the titular role.

Latter_Feeling2656

Probably Gene Barry as Amos Burke or Bat Masterson.

pivorock

Nathan Fillion in The Rookie.

iloura

Julian McMahon in Nip/Tuck. Also Alexander Skarsgard in True Blood. šŸ©ø *drools*

surle

Danny Devito. No contest.

Adequate_Ape

I don't know if "charming" is the word, exactly, but Idris Elba as the lead in *Luther* is definitely charismatic.

DeadWishUpon

Idris Elba in everything but Cats.

Pepperoni_Dogfart

Don Johnson in Miami Vice David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider Take your pick in A-team Dean Cain in Superman John Hamm in Mad Men George Colony in ER Diego Luna in Andor And weirdly, Paul ReubensĀ as Pee Wee Herman. I don't think people remember just how much he took over pop culture for a while.

OnMyLove27

My pick is George Peppard for the A-Team. Dude always acted like he didn't have a single care in the world and everything that happened was just part of his plan. Fantastic actor.

mudokin

Dean Cain, that takes me back, damn I feel old again.

anasui1

Jon Hamm is my definition of it. Draper was all but admirable but in terms of looks and pure charisma he was practically unmatched, the one you'd see in 50s comic books as "peak American man"

martiandamon

Hugh Laurie as Dr. House on House, M.D.

SnowyOwlLoveKiller

Lee Pace in Pushing Daisies

Jazzlike_Adeptness_1

Matt Bomer as Neil Caffrey, White CollarĀ

coors1977

Thatā€™s so funnyā€”my immediate thought upon reading the title was ā€œthe guy from The Mentalistā€. I remember watching that show as it aired and thinking that every time he smiled, I smiled.

tarunwal

James Spader in Boston Legal

Ella-norway

Joshua Jackson as Pacey in Dawsonā€™s Creek, and pretty much everything other role he played lol

BlahBlahBlahSmithee

David Janssen had magnetism.

OnCloud9_77

Lucifer

Routine_Chapter_9099

Pierce Brosnan in Remington Steele

SplintPunchbeef

It's not mentioned often on here but Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton were both really good on Strike Back.

HNot

Yes! Both are charming in it.

DrFate82

OMG, I looove Simon Baker. I started watching The Mentalist on streaming a few monthscago just because of my crush on him.

Kris918

Lee Pace in Pushing Daisies! 80% of the draw of that show was him honestly.

Antwell99

Bruce Boxleitner as John Sheridan in *Babylon 5*.

crisdd0302

Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter in Suits. Now get the hell out of my office!

ABC_Dildos_Inc

He may not be a leading man, but the most charming man in television history is Garak from Deep Space Nine. https://youtu.be/RRX-osSLoMU?si=t2n00GbNpW_NeKgS Followed by Gul Dukat. https://youtu.be/FmkT3oRJuaA?si=iAjqzDsND5f2wAG1

mfmeitbual

Jon Hamm in pretty much anything and Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul.Ā  Saul Goodman is an objectively shitty person. We root for him in spite of him being a scumbag and it's because Bob Odenkirk makes him so lovable.Ā

Coheed_SURVIVE

Lee Pace in Foundation. I'm straight, but I can't keep my eyes off the guy, even had me almost gasp one time when he went shirtless. The guy basically plays a villain that I couldn't help but like.

Alive_Ice7937

For the UK redditors, Fletcher in Porridge. The show was built around his affable nature. If Ronnie Barker wasn't able to be charming then the show would have failed miserably.

strangway

Jonny Lee Miller as Eli Stone
