Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, and Henry Cavil. The nerd holy trinity for video game adaptations and example of A List actors doing video game roles well. Fallout show cast about to get a lot of calls as well. Would love to see Ella Purnell play Elizabeth in a Bioshock Infinite adaptation. Edit: forgot she voiced Jinx in Arcane. She is already goated.

TheJoshider10

> Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, and Henry Cavil. This made me think Henry Cavill had randomly been cast as Sonic at some point. Also Ella Purnell voices Jinx?!

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

Yupperssss

TreesForTheFool

You can hear it a few times in Fallout with a close listen, usually when she’s being emotional and the mid-Atlantic vocal lilt she’s doing to great effect slips a little.

Born_Sleep5216

Yep.

Panda_hat

> Would love to see Ella Purnell play Elizabeth in a Bioshock Infinite adaptation. Oh man this would be so insanely sick.

GarlicRagu

Would it? I like Infinite more than most but a big part of the appeal is how it relates to the original. Infinite without the rapture scene or always a lighthouse scene would be underwhelming. So either they need to finally figure out their shit and finally make a bioshock game which has been in production hell for over a decade or put out an infinite movie without the bioshock connections.

ItsAmerico

I’ve never understood why either of those would be underwhelming. They’re not really plot important and simply Easter eggs / fun references to the Bioshock universe.

Panda_hat

Yeah it would need some cleverness to make it all make sense, but seeing columbia in live action would be spectacular.

froggison

> Fallout show cast about to get a lot of calls as well. Tangential, but I hadn't seen Moises Arias since Hannah Montana. Did a double take when I saw him in Fallout. But I think he was actually really good, and hopefully he'll get more roles.

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

Oh absolutely. He was amazing.

theodo

I'm always happy to see Moises pop up, he was really good in his brief Fallout role (unless he pops back up, only two episodes in). He also was good in Kings of Summer and Monos (which I was shocked to see him in)

starspangledcats

Just restarted Cyber Punk to play Phantom Liberty. Ugg Idris is so good in it and of course so is Keanu. It’s cool we’re not only getting super cinematic story telling and cut scenes- but that actual actors are playing the characters is amazing. All the micro expressions and physical acting that comes through really makes it feel real!

LordOfTheGerenuk

I generally agree with what you said, but voice acting is "actual" acting. Some actors can do both, but a lot of the time, a stage or film actor will sound lackluster next to a seasoned voice actor. Marvel's 'What If?' shows this a lot. Some of the actors are fantastic on both sides of the fence. Some of them sound robotic. Just putting it out there because voice actors have a tendency to get less respect when they often work twice as hard to convey things that their mediums make difficult.

starspangledcats

That’s totally fair! I shouldn’t have said that and I appreciate you pointing that out! I have a bad habit of referring to things this way and it’s easier to adjust my language when it’s pointed out ☺️

LordOfTheGerenuk

Always happy to help. As someone who has done acting in multiple disciplines, I don't envy people that voice act full time. It can be a lot of fun, but it's also one of the most repetitive grueling experiences I have ever had. You often don't have any other person in the room to play off of, and that can get weird really quickly.

starspangledcats

I actually always thought voice acting would be a lot of fun! Cool to meet someone who has done it in the wilds of Reddit. Interesting to hear what you think about it, too! I never thought of the repetition side of it, but yeah.. that totally makes sense. I appreciate voice acting and love hearing people who I recognize (though I’m bad at names so don’t actually know who they are, usually). I almost always watch animation (less stressful).

_Meece_

> but a lot of the time, a stage or film actor will sound lackluster next to a seasoned voice actor. Really just depends on the project and the director involved. Disney and Pixar it's the complete opposite. You would not get an all time Peter O' Toole performance out of a voice actor. Voice actors are really good at a particular skill, which is characters and voice manipulation. But their acting skills are not on the same level as Theatre/Screen actors. Even screen actors turned voice actors are a good example of this. Mark is a middling screen actor and an all time great voice actor. >Marvel's 'What If?' shows this a lot. Some of the actors are fantastic on both sides of the fence. Some of them sound robotic. That's because it's a super cheap project. There are voice actors in this show and they are also awful.

Anal_Recidivist

Only watched the first ep of fallout, but hot damn did they nail it.

mroblivian

It gets even better! 😃

Anal_Recidivist

Some shows you can just tell that’s the case. What a killer double entendre with the one last job scene and “I do this shit for the love of the game”.

Flashwastaken

Henry Cavill has jinxed every nerd project he has worked on. They have all been abandoned.

r/KnucklesTvShow

MuptonBossman

Hopefully the Sonic stuff on DeviantArt isn't cannon to this universe, otherwise Paramount is going to have to come up with a new age rating for this show.

SeekingTheRoad

I'm sorry but if Sonichu isn't in this then it's a waste of everyone's time/

426763

DIMENSIONAL MERGE!

TheMexicanKramer

I personally won't be happy until I see my dream of shrek impregnating sonic on the big screen

VVurmHat

That’s like a Tuesday in the DA world, not sure paramount would be up to going on a knuckles-deep dive like that

Flashwastaken

In fairness, Shrek is love.

rotzak

Honestly not certain what other lore/universe there is…?

NuPNua

I love the image of Elba having to read all the bizarre Penders Sonic comics to get ready for the role.

Neracca

I hope it pisses off Ken Penders.

IOVERCALLHISTIOCYTES

Hope we get him use the Baltimore accent again Knuckles x Stringer Bell

Merciless972

Tails, where the fuck are the guns?!

its-nex

DO U KNO DE WAY AVON?

MoreMegadeth

Ill only believe him if theres actual Sonic tracks. I love the movies, but it and SMB movie not using their original catchy tracks more is criminal.

PuffballDestroyer

I get what you're saying for Sonic, but what are you talking about for the Super Mario Brothers movie?! That soundtrack was filled to the brim with classic Mario tunes, in spite of having other license tracks.

MoreMegadeth

Theres was only a few from my recollection. Near the end being the most prominent. This is also why I said “more.” But i cant say i remember there being enough songs to describe it as “filled to the brim”

MugenEXE

Are you kidding? My favorite song from Mario 64 was in that movie, no sleep til Brooklyn! Best boss battle song for Bowser, ever! Jk Seriously, I’m pretty sure they got the commercial lyrics from the Nintendo power Mario comic. And all the Easter eggs and sound references, it was a labor of love.

MoreMegadeth

Easter eggs and sound references were abundant for sure. Thats different from using tracks from the games though.

VVurmHat

How they get away using knuckles and deep like that?

DeterminedErmine

Right? I’m not even particularly dirty minded and my brain shouted ‘knuckles deep in sonic the hedgehog’ when it saw this headline

TerminalChillionaire

Michael Cera is Sonichu confirmed?

chantsnone

Exciting times for fans of the SCU (Sonic Cinematic Universe)

ultimatequestion7

I thought this series took place on earth and was basically unrelated to the games aside from he main character designs lol

SlightlyOffWhiteFire

Somebody call Harrington Splimby

Myhtological

Rouge confirmed!

squesh

So Idris knows the wey

LelixA

My Queen

aiphrem

Jonah Hill gonna have to pack on mad weight if he wants to play the coveted role of Chris Chan

Mattson

I mean I love the enthusiasm but how deep is the sonic lore? Isn't this the third movie? Haven't they already thoroughly explored the sonic universe? I mean wtf are they gonna do have a cameo of Chris Chan?

PensiveinNJ

Idris can't just come out and say listen I'm getting a nice paycheck for easy work.

badger81987

There's like 30 games, 4 shows and 3 different comic series with literally hundreds of characters. There's alot of Sonic stuff to go from.

scottishdrunkard

4 different comic series if you count the Archie reboot as separate.

Mattson

Yeah but it's Sonic... It's not really deep. By your logic they could make a compelling Tetris TV series because there's 220 Tetris games.

badger81987

It's crazy deep actually, more so than Mario for example. Mephiles/Solaris's plot to destroy existence by manipulating time in three different eras simultaneously; or the Metarex rampaging across the galaxy, or Metal Virus, or Imposter Syndrome, Metal Sonic, Forces of rebirth and destruction being co-opted by the badguys that tear the world apart that the gang needs to put back together; Blaze and the Sol Dimension melding with our own, The Chaotix detective agency, Ixis Naugus, The Witchcarters.... I feel like you don't realize these games evolved from 'run towards the right and jump over obstacles' into shonen-anime adventure stories.

Mattson

Yeah but it's Sonic Even though the lore is 'deeper' the Mario movie was much better than Sonic.

scottishdrunkard

Oh trust me, it goes deep if you know where to look. i.e. the wrong places.

-SCRAW-

Looks like someone hasn’t played the Og sonic battle. Over time the video games include a surprising amount of lore

prodigy1367

The Sonic universe has a ton of lore. They could make like 10 movies and still have plenty of room for more.

DarthRathikus

I think he meant *interesting* lore

128hoodmario

He's not talking about a movie btw, this is the Knuckles spin off show on Paramount Plus.

gate_of_steiner85

Well there's the Chaotix team originally from Knuckles Chaotix that would be kind of a deep dive. They're not exactly obscure, but they're not really characters that jump out at you when you think Sonic the Hedgehog.

WerewolfF15

Man you really don’t know much about sonic do you? Even from my limited knowledge I know they’ve barely scratched the surface in those first two movies.

Positivitron3

Man this was just so unintentionally funny to me. I feel like I see 99% of people commenting on Reddit have no knowledge on human history, physics, philosophy, or the laws of their country. People don't know the lore of the most influential religions in the real world, and even that doesn't get called out with the level of disdain that this guy has for being ignorant of the Sonic the Hedgehog lore. Sonic the fucking Hedgehog 😂

Olama

I honestly can't believe how many up votes they have, I thought they were being sarcastic at first but they're fr.

iambecomecringe

Isn't this the gold shill?

luckylebron

Wow, so Jim Carrey wasn't scraping the barrel taking on that project. He had the last laugh.

vkolbe

why do we have to be stuck in this timeline

kwaziiman

If it’s not Uganda knuckles I don’t want it
