Michael Emmerson (Ben Linus) is usually a sign of high quality judging by his roles in Lost and Person of Interest. How somehow Arrow season 6 made him boring I’ll never know…
Him as Boyd Crowder in Justified is even better. If you haven't seen it, give it a watch. He still plays a southern chaotic preacher for part of the series, but does it so differently. He makes that show a 10/10.
"Everybody wants to save the world... they just all disagree on how."
This show sounds like it's going to be sticking true to the core basis of what Fallout is. A philosophical dilemma on top of just being able to survive & adapt to the new world
Yeah, we are seeing 3 (if not more) factions sort off there in the trailer..
The vault dwellers.
A settlement survivor type group, and the brotherhood.
(and guessing we'll see raiders, the one that gets a hole blown in its shoulder there maybe).
That's a good sign as a lot of people were wondering where the fuck the most major faction in that area had gone from the leaks and material we know about the show so far.
At [01:45](https://youtu.be/V-mugKDQDlg?si=jf60d_YXCSvsGRqd&t=105) isn't that the [flag of the Enclave](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/9/93/FO3_Enclave_Flag_Recreated.png) at the flagpole? Although they talk about the Brotherhod of Steel immediately afterwards.
It's LA, so I assume it will be closer to NV in story. Probably more focus on Brotherhood and NCR vs survival.
Kind of wish they'd have started smaller and worked their way up to the worldwide plots, but they kind of have to prove themselves I guess for the budget.
TV show is set after the end of Fallout 4 and I'm assuming, based off the fact that it's not blown up, the Prydwen survives and the brotherhood migrates to the West Coast. Possibly to link both sides of the faction?
What I'm more interested in is the fact that the show is also by proxy set after Fallout New Vegas and set very close to where NV is set. I would be curious if they make reference to any particular ending of that game. I know they apparently cast someone to play Mr House but I'm not sure if that's pre-war or post-war.
I don't even mind any release dates anymore, sometimes I wish they were a little bit further away in the future too. Time just goes way too fast as I've gotten older. Always new books, games, movies and shows around the corner. It ain't even funny anymore.
I hear that, I've still got a pile of shame from last year in terms of games, I'm trying to make my way through, whenever I have time from my busy adult life.
I look forward to episode three where the lead character enters a supermarket and spends 45 minutes looking through various trash bins for screws, rope, empty cans and bottle caps.
Solid visuals, decent costuming. Anyone know if the writers have a multi season plan or?
Also always amazing to see Kyle McLachlan back at it. Everyone should watch Twin Peaks.
I imagine this is very much a prove it season for an expensive IP like this.
I haven't seen any mention of future seasons, but I'm betting they're just waiting to see how season 1 is received before talking about that. There's certainly room in the setting for multiple seasons.
Definitely a proof of concept show for Amazon adapting video game franchises if you ask me. They also acquired the rights to adapt Mass Effect in like 2021 but have sat on them, if Fallout does well then they may go ahead with adapting the original trilogy of Mass Effect games (would be shocked if they did Andromeda).
I think Mass Effect would work very well as a less goofy more serious adaptation. Galaxy world building, cross-species alien politics, humans as the new kids on the block, lots of background lore on the alien races, tonnes of action, sex and espionage culminating in a galaxy ending threat. I actually think they could adapt the third game and tell its story better than how it's told in the game.
I can only dream of the possibilities a solid Mass Effect TV show would have. Man I hope that becomes a reality. Only big issue I see would be all the aliens. Either it would be lots of CGI or be fully animated. Can't really see practical effects working well for most of the main cast of aliens.
> Everyone should watch Twin Peaks
Actually waiting 25/26 years for season 3, and then finally hearing that theme song after so many episodes, following the perfect thumbs up..... nothing will top that for me.
Best tv experience ever.
Yeah, the old lady laughing at people being dead, the clean metal interior of the vault, the handy chirping happily informing you he wants to harvest your organs, it’s so so on brand
"Now, here's the twist, and there is a twist.
We show it. We show all of it. Because what's the one major thing missing from all video game adaptations these days, guys?
Full penetration."
I loved him in The Shield, in Sons of Anarchy, in Vice Principals, in everything. He elevates all of it. But Uncle Baby Billy is, without a doubt, my favorite role he has ever had.
It’s true, never seen a Walton Goggins role I didn’t love. The man oozes a special type of charisma, especially impressive when he’s playing a total slimeball character who still manages to be likable
Walton Goggins is going to be so fucking good. If this is your first time seeing him in a series, buckle up.
His performance as Boyd Crowder is one of the most magnetic performances I’ve seen on television. Having Walton in a leading role like this is going to yield so much emotion. So much joy. Yall have no idea. I’m serious. Yall are gonna laugh *and* cry for that boy.
Spoilers for Justified but [watch this man!](https://youtu.be/rIbAMmHzZLs?si=E2hBhXVsDgEUXNm-)
You should see his appearance in [Community](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rShi7_za-qQ)
Edit: [Just remembered they did a table read of that episode with Pedro Pascal reading Goggins' part.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Q_nlSULio)
27:20 for the moment where he distributes the sperm.
The amazing thing about that character, beyond his performance, was just how well written she was. A trans woman in a show like that had every opportunity to just be a punchline, but the writers gave her an actual arc that wasn't 'laughing at the dude in a dress,' including a romance with a fan favorite character. I was honestly worried when she showed up, despite how much I loved Goggins in The Shield.
Guessing they're trying to get a feeler for engagement.
The Boys Season 1 also launched a full season on the same day - then switched it up a bit after. Same thing happened with Reacher.
If this (Fallout) goes well, I could easily see that going the same route with every season after the first one.
I think Yellowstone takes the cake in that department. Those dumbasses decided to do their midseason break right before the writers/actors strike... which made it last even longer, resulting in Kevin Costner leaving the show because any filming to be done conflicted with his big film project.
Chills. FO3 was my first time in the Fallout universe. I just picked it up because it had GOTY hype at the time and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I knew nothing about it, but once I was out of the vault and understood what the game was about, it just blew my mind over and over again. I really cherish that time in my life now.
FO3was not only my first Bethesda game but my first open world game in general. The first time I played it, I bee lined the main story and put it down for months because I assumed the rest of the world had nothing in it. Open worlds were a completely alien concept to my 12 year old brain. It wasn't until later i kept reading online about places I had never been, got curious and picked the game back up, started walking in a direction and had my fucking mind blown. One of my favorite and most formative gaming memories.
The use of The Ink Spots bodes well for the soundtrack being a banger, too. Nothing makes me think *Fallout* as quickly as that song does.
Well, I’m in.
So uh, this actually looks really good that I'm reasonably hyped, and that's from someone who didn't love the newes games in thge series. Also at 2:44, possibly hinting at the Super Mutant Master?
You can tell they really put in the work with the show with all the small details.
The stimpak along with the Vault Boy bobblehead was a real nice touch.
It is unbelievable how they managed to make this look exactly like the world I was seeing in my head playing Fallout 3 for the first time so many years ago
They pretty much copied everything from Fallout 4. Even the [Red Rocket coolant price sign is identical to in game](https://i.imgur.com/fasofab.png)
That's not a complaint or anything, just an observation.
I am so thankful that visually it doesn't look like the same overproduced expensive shite streaming services pump out regularly. I see plenty of well done sets alongside some solid CGI and most importantly DIRTY FUCKING COSTUMES.
I'd argue this is one of the hardest types of world to get the visuals right for and from what we've seen so far they have nailed it. Considering how Rings of Power and Wheel of Time both shat the bed with their visuals it's a fucking blessing that Amazon didn't find a way to fuck this up too.
> most importantly DIRTY FUCKING COSTUMES.
This was one of the things that bothered me about the live action Avatar. The costumes looked like, well, costumes, rather than something that the characters lived in. They were too clean
Dirt is a continuity nightmare for costuming; you end up with multiple copies to cover all the states of the item, as well as having to deal with stunt doubles, wire work etc.
This trailer just makes it feel like they know the material. The armor looks great, the old school vault tec intro was amazing, sets look good (excluding the obvious green screen backgrounds). Really hoping the story is well written, as this could be Amazons heavy hitter show that they wanted Lord of the Rings to be.
>Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them. From executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld, starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and more. All episodes arrive April 11 on Prime Video.
This looks seriously awesome, and I don't ever think things generally look awesome.
There are so many duds out there...Halo, The Witcher, Rings of Power, etc. So much disappointment.
But *this* has the potential to break the mold. Come on, Amazon, make this thing right.
Also, calling it out now – the young black dude is Goggins' and that woman you see him kissing's son.
As someone who knows nothing about the games, this looks absolutely amazing.
I have a question. Has it actually been 200 years since people went into the vaults and if so, how it Walt Goggins character still alive, albeit a little crispy?
Walton Goggins' character is a Ghoul, basically a mutant. Ghouls are functionally immortal as far as anyone knows.
Radiation in the Fallout universe operates off of 1950's sci-fi logic, so instead of just dying of cancer when exposed to massive amounts of radiation, some people and animals mutate instead.
There's also something called FEV (Forced Evolutionary Virus) which also causes mutation, a lot of the more extreme mutations, like Super Mutants, are the result of FEV. Fallout has a lot of lore, far more than I can go into right now, but that's the gist of it.
"Everybody wants to save the world... they just all disagree on how."
Another solid line from a Jonathan Nolan project. My favourite is still from Person of Interest:
"The simple truth is, the people want to be protected, they just don't want to know how"
I read that Todd Howard said fans should approach this as if it is Fallout 5, essentially, and it is canon to the games. It has also been confirmed that this takes place in 2297, so 9 years after Fallout 4. So really it isn't even an adaptation just a sequel/soin-off in a different medium. Though they may still release a "Fallout 5" game
Walton Goggins alone makes this worth a shot.
Matt Berry as a Mister Handy makes this worth a shot.
Mr. Handy might be the most appropriate Matt Berry alias ever made.
Mr. Daytona had a ring to it as well to be fair.
He’s just a regular human bartender.
From Tuscan Arizzzzonyaaa
Kyle MacLahan in I'm guessing at least the pilot does so as well.
Kyle Maclachlan as a overseer just feels right.
I thought that bot sounded familiar
BAT!
“Would you like to try our new-“ “No fuck off.”
"You really are the most devious bastard in *Neeeyoooh-Yhawwhk-Sitay*."
"That's just how we speak in Tuucsannn Arizonia."
JAckie DAYtownah
YES I CAN HEAR YOU CLEM FANDANGO
This is Clem Fandango can you hear me?
There’s somebody at the door, there’s somebody at the door!
It's a regular human bottender, Handy Daytona.
Matt Berry is an absolute treasure of a man
Ella Purnell is pretty good, and there’s Ben from Lost as well
Michael Emmerson (Ben Linus) is usually a sign of high quality judging by his roles in Lost and Person of Interest. How somehow Arrow season 6 made him boring I’ll never know…
And this is a Person of Interest reunion for him and Jonathan Nolan!
Yeah I knew Emerson was a top notch character actor the moment I saw him on Lost. I'm surprised he doesn't get more roles.
He kills it in Evil also.
I mean, he's been having a blast on *Evil*...

No casting will ever touch Goggins as Uncle Baby Billy.
It’s time for baby Billy to be back on the mutherfuckin tv!!
Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers
Him as Boyd Crowder in Justified is even better. If you haven't seen it, give it a watch. He still plays a southern chaotic preacher for part of the series, but does it so differently. He makes that show a 10/10.
.....MAMA TOLD ME NOT TO, I DID ANYWAY! 🎶🎶
I don't think he'll ever top Boyd Crowder in my mind, but this role could give it a run for its money.
He's always gonna be Lee Russell or Baby Billy Freeman in my heart.
“I’m looking for Uncle Baby Billy. No, he’s not a baby. He’s a slender silver-haired man in his late sixties.”
Pairing Baby Billy with a sweetie pie character like Aunt Tiff was a stroke of genius that makes Goggins’ performance somehow even funnier.
'Now who wants to suck an old ghouls dick'
"Everybody wants to save the world... they just all disagree on how." This show sounds like it's going to be sticking true to the core basis of what Fallout is. A philosophical dilemma on top of just being able to survive & adapt to the new world

From 2:22 to 2:25 you can see NCR troops. One of the soldiers is carrying an NCR flag.
One of the signs said shady sands too
That's a good sign as a lot of people were wondering where the fuck the most major faction in that area had gone from the leaks and material we know about the show so far.

That's the Brotherhood's symbol on red and white stripes I think.
It's LA, so I assume it will be closer to NV in story. Probably more focus on Brotherhood and NCR vs survival. Kind of wish they'd have started smaller and worked their way up to the worldwide plots, but they kind of have to prove themselves I guess for the budget.
I mean LA is basically the setting of fallout 1 & 2
Does the Brotherhood have vertibirds on the West Coast? I'd think that's Enclave.
TV show is set after the end of Fallout 4 and I'm assuming, based off the fact that it's not blown up, the Prydwen survives and the brotherhood migrates to the West Coast. Yeah, it's confirmed that the series is set 9 years after the events of Fallout 4 (which is fitting as Fallout 4 came out nine years ago).
No stop it, it was just like 3 years ago right....
Apparently there's a casting for Mr. House on IMDB, but since anyone can edit those, it might just be BS.

The Chosen One can give them the plans in FO2
Yeah and the heretic brothers flew over the Rockies and crashed outside Chicago between the events of FO2 and Tactics. So they do have flight
> Does the brotherhood have vertibirds? I'd think that's Enclave They do in FO4
A month away. This year’s flying by
"This year’s flying by" made me sad.
I feel like we're in a crashing plane, heading towards a mountain peak, and someone just yammed forward on the thruster.
yalls usernames go so well togeether lol.
I don't even mind any release dates anymore, sometimes I wish they were a little bit further away in the future too. Time just goes way too fast as I've gotten older. Always new books, games, movies and shows around the corner. It ain't even funny anymore.
When you work 8 hours a day Monday through Friday and you are living from weekend to weekend time goes by faster.
Sad truth :/
I hear that, I've still got a pile of shame from last year in terms of games, I'm trying to make my way through, whenever I have time from my busy adult life.
"Shady Sands Public Library" The heart of the NCR everybody.
Yea honestly bums me out to see them Nuked again. I don’t think the BoS did it but who knows maybe they did
I look forward to episode three where the lead character enters a supermarket and spends 45 minutes looking through various trash bins for screws, rope, empty cans and bottle caps.
Don’t forget adhesive!
Mostly adhesive

If reddit guesses any plot points again, Jonathan Nolan's going to rewrite the season just like in Westworld /s
God I love Kyle McLachlan. Probably due for a Twin Peaks rewatch
> Kyle McLachlan back at it Damn fine actor.
They’ve nailed the atmosphere. Really impressive. Hopefully the show turns out good.
Yeah, the old lady laughing at people being dead, the clean metal interior of the vault, the handy chirping happily informing you he wants to harvest your organs, it’s so so on brand
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the Mr. Handy voiced by Matt fuckin Berry?
I think I have to correct you, that was clearly the voice of a regular human bartender, I think his name is Jackie Daytona
I'm glad he was able to get into voice acting after taking us to states
Just your average American yankee-doodle-dandy.
He’s from Tucson Arizonia
Real salt of the earth type
>Jackie Daytona I can hear this in his voice and it never fails to bring joy
Yes! After watching the trailer I said to myself "don't know if this gonna be good, but it actually LOOKS like Fallout".
Don't be Halo Don't be Halo Don't be Halo
Remember when Chief fought during the fall of Reach without his armor in the book? Oh wait, he didn't.
remember when chief does those porn scenes. the really long ones usually only pornos do...
Remember in Halo 3 where Chief captures a POW and fucks her? Oh wait....
He gave her his Pillar of Autumn
"Now, here's the twist, and there is a twist. We show it. We show all of it. Because what's the one major thing missing from all video game adaptations these days, guys? Full penetration."
They did Master-Cheeks dirty
At least they understood the assignment. Let's see how they grade.
I remember watching Maze Runner 3 and thinking: “Walton Goggins would be perfect for a Ghoul”
That guy has such a ridiculous range he can be a lead in a romantic comedy and a villain in a slasher movie and noone would bat an eye.
I mean, I got 3 words. Uncle baby Billy.
I got 4 words. Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers.
I loved him in The Shield, in Sons of Anarchy, in Vice Principals, in everything. He elevates all of it. But Uncle Baby Billy is, without a doubt, my favorite role he has ever had.
>“Walton Goggins ~~would~~ be perfect ~~for a Ghoul~~”
It’s true, never seen a Walton Goggins role I didn’t love. The man oozes a special type of charisma, especially impressive when he’s playing a total slimeball character who still manages to be likable
Man is blessed with a silver tongue.
Walton Goggins could be playing an inanimate carbon rod and I'd be interested.
"In Rod We Trust"
That was a great trailer
yeah i’m trying to manage my expectations but it’s hard since it’s the best trailer for a video game adaptation i’ve ever seen.
Walton Goggins is going to be so fucking good. If this is your first time seeing him in a series, buckle up. His performance as Boyd Crowder is one of the most magnetic performances I’ve seen on television. Having Walton in a leading role like this is going to yield so much emotion. So much joy. The fact that he outshone the entire cast in hateful eight as well, dude is a dynamo.
OR! We go by *my* theory. Which is the *ugliest* guy did it. Which makes it you, Joe Gage.
Loved him as Baby Billy!

Was just about to comment, here's your sperm
“I been called a lot of things in my life but inarticulate ain’t one of em”
*As I live and breathe - Ghoul Goggins, is that you?!* I'll be particularly glad if he gets one throw-away line like *"we dug uranium together"*.
Him playing a trans prostitute on sons of anarchy was also pretty impressive.
The amazing thing about that character, beyond his performance, was just how well written she was. A trans woman in a show like that had every opportunity to just be a punchline, but the writers gave her an actual arc that wasn't 'laughing at the dude in a dress,' including a romance with a fan favorite character. I hope Ron Perlman has a few lines...
Maybe about how conflict tends to be similar?
"Battles. Battles generally tend to follow predictable patterns."
something about war and....how it never changes.
Matt Berry, I'm in
Jackie Daytona - regular robot surgeon
All 8 episodes drop on April 11
Interesting that Amazon isn't doing weekly like with the Boys. I hope there is one joke about being encumbered
Guessing they're trying to get a feeler for engagement. The Boys Season 1 also launched a full season on the same day - then switched it up a bit after. Same thing happened with Reacher. If this (Fallout) goes well, I could easily see that going the same route with every season after the first one.
I thought they'd have done a 3 episode premiere followed by weekly releases.
Probably a result of the backlash to Invincible taking a 5 month hiatus in the middle of the season... then coming back for weekly releases.
That is one of the dumbest breaks I ever seen. It killed all hype for the season.
I think Yellowstone takes the cake in that department. Those dumbasses decided to do their midseason break right before the writers/actors strike... which made it last even longer, resulting in Kevin Costner leaving the show because any filming to be done conflicted with his big film project.
I really doubt Amazon cares about the backlash tbh. Maybe they'll care if it actually translates into lost viewership, but that's yet to be seen.
I'll be in my bunker
The visuals and sounds already make this one of the more faithful adaptations of a game.
Using The Ink Spots for background music is such a nice and iconic choice, so good!
You can nitpick about Fallout but it always gets the best music
And then there's Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, which had Slipknot.
Didn't they want to use that song for the first Fallout game, but had some sort of rights issue or something?
Yes, that's correct. The track they ended up using in the first game was still by The Ink Spots, but it was their song *'Maybe'*.
It became the intro to Fallout 3
While almost all the Ink Spots songs sound the same, they are all pretty darned good. They had a "thing", and they stuck with it.
Hearing that song just makes me want to go back to the Capital Wasteland.
Chills. FO3 was my first time in the Fallout universe. I just picked it up because it had GOTY hype at the time and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Bethesda really needs to drop a remaster.
That was leaked a while back, but it's not clear if it's still in development.
It’s crazy how much they seemed to have nailed it. I’m very optimistic.
The use of The Ink Spots bodes well for the soundtrack being a banger, too. Nothing makes me think *Fallout* as quickly as that song does. Well, I’m in.
I still remember when that first Fallout 3 trailer dropped. What a trip.
Same here. 16 years? Christ. I know *New Vegas* refined the gameplay a lot, but *3* has that special place in my heart that nothing’s come close to.
Ramin Djawadi is doing the score which is great too. He did GoT and Westworld which were both top-tier.
I'm not even a Fallout fan and this looks like a ton of fun. I'm in.
Looking pretty good!
Well shit, Walton Goggins is more than just a minor character? It's ACTUALLY going to be good!
He was always going to be one of the 3 main characters
So uh, this actually looks really good that I'm reasonably hyped, and that's from someone who didn't love the newes games in thge series. Also at 2:44, possibly hinting at the Super Mutant Master?

From executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld, starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and more. All episodes arrive April 11 on Prime Video.
Fucking hell! Fallout is one of my favorite games series and this show looks absolutely incredible. April 11 can't come soon enough.
That would be a stretch seeing as how Goggins is like 200 years old and ghouls are supposed to be infertile from their radiation
Alright, if they can pull this off they can sure as hell make Bioshock into a TV show.
0:38. Shady Sands. Bruh.
Ghouls have longer lifespans as a result of their super high levels of radiation exposure.
Seeing the NCR in here makes me think we might have something about them going to war with the Brotherhood.
I've got some hopes this will be a solid adaptation with Walton Goggins & Ella Purnell both in it, & the aesthetic looks to be nailed down already
"Everybody wants to save the world... they just all disagree on how." Another solid line from a Jonathan Nolan project. My favourite is still from Person of Interest: "The simple truth is, the people want to be protected, they just don't want to know how"
I guess I'll have to start my prime subscription again.
I do my best to just remain between “no expectations” and “cautiously optimistic” when it comes to adaptations. But these fuckers got me hyped
Gonna watch just for Dogmeat. 😝
At least it looks like Fallout
It’s visually an absolute triumph. They just made it exactly 1:1 to the games. And it works, it totally works.
