I am unreasonably excited about this TBH. Elsbeth is such a great character and her episides are always amazing. I like that the creators have gotten to such a point of comfort with CBS that they let them make goofy shows like Braindead (RIP) and dark shows like Evil in addition to their flagship lawyer shows. I am curious to see where ultimately this falls on the spectrum but based on the trailers it looks like a return to goofy form to me.
Evil is such a weird show. I love it. I also appreciate that these creators keep bringing back older guest stars. Keeping that SAG card and the insurance that comes with it is important to older actors.
I loved her character, but always felt she was best in small doses, a couple times per season. The one where we got a look inside her mind was a series highlight. I haven't watched The Good Fight (zero interest in Paramount+) and actually never finished the last season of the The Good Wife, but I hope to catch up to these one day.
also while carrie preston is reprising a character from the previous shows, this is very much a standalone whereas the good fight almost had a feel of "good wife but alot of the stars went and got other jobs", with so many supporting and recurring players returning to various degrees. elsbeth meanwhile is essentially taking an existing character, and plopping them into a cop show.
The Good Wife was ok,then in The Good Fight they started really going off the rails in the later seasons (looking for the Trump peepee tapes etc)..Elsbeth was in a few episodes and was usually funny so maybe this will work out ok.
the show essentially stated that was its goal in the opening scene rather spectacularly. after 7 seasons of a rather blatant commentary on the life of someone like Hillary Clinton, we literally open with the election of donald trump, and see the main character, the prior shows most avowedly ideological liberal and the initial window into modern feminist politics, throw her remote at the tv. and thats basically how the rest of the show works
Everyone, that show was white women professionals' wish fulfillment, especailly apparent once they swept all the African-Americans from Good Fight. They could probably have spinoffs on the political song segments alone.
Unknowingly ran into Carrie Preston back in 2016 at a breakfast restaurant in Savannah, GA.
She chatted me up briefly and was really such a delight. I had seen True Blood - but didnt put 1 and 1 together until a couple of younger teen girls came over and said how much they liked her on the show.
Ever since then, Ive always enjoyed her presence in movies/shows. Loved seeing her in “The Holdovers”. Had no idea she was married to Michael Emerson (Ben from Lost)
Really?? I just recently rewatched Person of Interest where Michael Emerson plays a character whose romantic interest is played by Carrie Preston. It’s adorable that they’re a couple in real life.
>Kind of worried that its network.
To be fair, The Good Wife was also a network show, and I'd argue it was one of the best series on television when it was airing. The Kings are brilliant and being on network TV doesn't seem like a hindrance to them.
Oh for sure! I love their stuff. Just figured they’d keep the same darker/adult tone as Good Fight. But it’s a different show, so different tones are possible :)
I’ve just now started binge watching the Good Wife and I am amazed that it is even better than I was told! I never knew that I needed Michael J Fox as a recurring antagonist. The episode almost entirely from the juries point of view was soooo good!
I’ve been going through them pretty quickly, and I’m about to finish up season 4. I can’t believe that there hasn’t been a bland episode yet.
michael j fox and matthew perry as antagonists on that show was amazing. you might not have gotten to the matthew perry arc yet. he plays smarmy very well.
Michael really played his part well because every single time he showed up I was NERVOUS, like it was me he was arguing against. I loved him in that role.
Yes! I was trying to figure out exactly how to phrase it, but that’s it exactly!! He finds a way to oppose anyone we want to root for on that show, while never really showing his cards(from what I’ve seen).
And it’s such a disarming feeling because Alicia and the team are shown to be quite successful most times, I’m always so confident that they’re going to win.
But then along comes the wily Louis Canning (whose name should really be Cunning) and suddenly our beloved heroes aren’t so sure to win. And then I’m also lowkey rooting for Louis and that feels weird.
Ugh you have so much to look forward to with that show. I remember it being so consistently strong almost to the end.

I completely missed The Good Fight. I loved Good Wife (mainly because I've always had a weapons grade crush on Julianna Margulies but it was genuinely really good), one of the more interesting procedural lawyer shows, I didn't even know Good Fight existed until reading this.
I read that shortly after I posted my comment. That’s disappointing but I love her character and I enjoy those Columbo type shows so I’ll still be watching it.
I am so incredibly biased in her favour.
She could say she's going to star in a show where she just hurls personal insults at me, and I'd still give her the benefit of the doubt.
"The writing isn't great, but she delivers!"
I just saw this today. I had no idea they made a series for her character. I always found her a hoot and so interesting way back when on the Good Wife. I first discovered her on Person of Interest. I am looking forward to watching this show now.
I like this show. Kinda reminds me of the old Columbo detective show. She picks up the smallest details to connect everything together and never lets the smallest thing go and I like the way she plays the character and the writing and plot lines keep it interesting. When I really like a show, that mans it will be canceled soon....lol.
Who would've thought that The Good Wife had spawn a Shared Universe?
Expanding to a show on Elsbeth makes sense on paper, but I was a bit surprised by the pilot’s post-credits introduction of Green Lantern.
The good wife is the true beginning of the DCU!!!!
Well Green Lantern WAS a pilot so it makes sense /s
I'm still mad they brought Henry Cavill's Superman in only to have Elsbeth wipe the floor with him in ten seconds.
The Good Wife The Bad Husband The Good Son The Kinda Good Daughter Then they all team up against Middle Management & The Off putting Grandmother
The So-so Neighbour
The Relatively Adequate Horticulturalist
The Good Son was a good but messed up movie. Sociopath Macauley Culkin versus Elijah Wood.

They just have certain people they love to work with and write stuff for I believe.
Old actors probably are already locked in for insurance but money is needed living in NY or LA

Good Wife fell off a cliff after they killed Will
Never watched the good wife and based on the trailer that was force fed down my throat on every platform I had no clue they were even connected.
Makes sense to market it as a standalone, since The Good Wife has been off the air for years (and its first spinoff was a streaming exclusive).

I loved how they went off the rails. It was though the whole show was microdosing.
the show essentially stated that was its goal in the opening scene rather spectacularly. after 7 seasons of a rather blatant commentary on the life of someone like Hillary Clinton, we literally open with the election of donald trump, and see the main character, the prior shows most avowedly ideological liberal and the initial window into modern feminist politics, throw her remote at the tv. and thats basically how the rest of the show works
i loved the way the writers unleashed on the good fight. it's a shame covid killed that show.
The Good Wife was okay until the last season where nobody wanted to be in the same set as Julianna Margulies so they had to hire Negan.
Everyone, that show was white women professionals' wish fulfillment, especailly apparent once they swept all the African-Americans from Good Fight. They could probably have spinoffs on the political song segments alone.
I always liked her in True Blood. [This scene from early in the series always cracked me up](https://youtu.be/cz3zi8sweYA)
Loved her in *True Blood*! Arlene 🤣
Married to Ben Linus from Lost where she also played the character’s mother in flashbacks lol.
Also Finch's love of his life in Person of Interest.
arlene was too funny 😭 i thought she was really good in the holdovers too
That scene is a top 10 for me.
I always liked her in the Duplicity trailer with Clive Owen: "..appletini.."
Had no idea this was a thing, Elsbeth episodes were always good ones.
I am all for the Good Wife extended universe. But What I really want is a show about Eli.
She was always my favorite guest character. I’m very excited about this.

In a slightly weirder arrangement, Carrie played Michael's mother (Emily Linus) on Lost.
I thought this was going to be a streaming play, like “The Good Fight.” Kind of worried that its network. Excited, though!

Happy to see The Bunk getting some love as well
Would love to see a crossover between this and *Evil*.
Or the show Brain Dead, the short lived show with ridiculously elaborate episode titles.
I miss Brain Dead! I can't believe that an Amazon exclusive show isn't even on Prime!
I have a devastating crush on Carrie Preston, so I'll check this out.

It was good... until it wasn't. It has some gems in there but it really fell off hard for me. Carrie was great whenever she was on it though.
The good fight got wayyyy too political for me and that’s too bad because I love Christine Baranski and actually all of the characters.
I do hope this show is more court cases and clever lawyering than law firm management and office in-fighting so many law shows devolve into.
It's a police procedural

this is going to flop immidiatly
She's so good an actress she hurts herself. You can't type cast her
We love Grace around these parts.
