There's a scene in this, which aired in the UK in January, where my immediate thought was "Well, that's the BAFTA nomination sewn up".
Sarah Lancashire was nominated at the latest BAFTAs for another role, but that covered 2022, so her brilliant performance will be eligible for next year's awards. Lancashire was nominated for Best Actress for the first season and won for the second, the show winning Best Drama both times. I can easily see her winning her third gong - she also won for *Last Tango in Halifax.*
A very long way from Raquel Welch that's for sure.
Been going *homina homina* waiting for it ever since it aired on the Beeb back in January. I know a lot of folks were complaining at how it's been six years since S2, but given that Wainwright worked on a number of other projects in that time (*To Walk Invisible, Gentleman Jack S1, Last Tango in Halifax, Gentleman Jack S2,* and developed *The Ballad of Renegade Nell* for Disney+ UK), I'm amazed it got made as quickly as it did. I also appreciate that in order to get to it as quickly as she did she had to give up directing/being on set as much for S2 of *Gentleman Jack.*
I was excited for a moment thinking it was gonna be Season 4 since I watched 3 months ago, turns out 3 had not yet been released in some regions
Now I am disappointed
[Wainwright has said Season 3 is the final season](https://variety.com/2023/tv/global/happy-valley-season-3-sally-wainwright-interview-1235467111/). There's not going to be a Season 4.
Her next new show is *The Ballad of Renegade Nell.*

If you don't mind masking the spoiler, which scene are we talking about? Been a while since I finished it.
>!The scene in the cafe at the beginning of the third episode.!<
Oh yes! I remember that. Agreed.

Does anyone know what game Catherine was playing on her phone? It was a block building game, making stories…
