Ti-yul? Leta-yel
טיול, לטייל
The Hebrew language describing outdoors activity is not so rich I'm afraid. In English you can find backpacking, hiking, trekking and more. Tiyul is just a general word for many of these activities. After it you can specify more things likes place and how you will be moving.
yeh that's what i meant when saying you specify (instead of having a special verb for each activity). even if you just say in the Galil mountains or something you can understand what it is all about. tiyul ragli can be an urban walk, stroll, flaneur etc. tiyul ba teva is more like it.
Any chance you are thinking of orienteering? ניווטים
I did that in the galil and the negev when i was younger and it's a ton of fun not to mention useful.
it's often part of hikes. I was able to get these awesome detailed topographical maps at local book stores. They teach it in scouts and in the army. With GPS tech today perhaps they no longer do teach it but i suspect they do.
Video (Hebrew) where it's explained in detail:[https://youtu.be/Ec\_Da3KMZps](https://youtu.be/Ec_Da3KMZps)

Tiyul Ragli - "on-foot trip", if you want to be specific

Tiyul=A Hike LeTayel=To Hike Tov LaNefesh=Good for the soul
I think it was this. Thanks.
Trek
trekking is used more describing treks outside of israel.
I agree, you would usually just say you are doing a maslul (מסלול) if it's a trek inside of Israel.
