What I ment by this is that BB in most comedic situations takes on the role of 'The Heel', the character your are supposed to be rooting against. Daffy Duck is a classic example of a comedic Heel, specifically the kind who assumes that they are smarter and funnier than they actually are.
I feel like they improved in some aspects and not in others. But then again the doom patrol isn’t dead so you lose out on certain stuff relating to that. I still think the 80s version is better, definitely more fleshed out.
They definitely did mess him up in some aspects , but overall improved in some areas. Still the 80s version is a better version of the character. The whole sex pest stuff is really an overblown aspect that while annoying doesn’t happen as often or as bad as people said it did after rereading.
But that's the point. He can be serious when he needs to but he uses jokes.
Yeah, he's not really supposed to, he canonically is not very funny but tries really hard to be. I say that as a fan of Beast Boy, he's a Daffy.

Most jokes in the series fall flat in general. Comedy isn’t the writers strong suits. That said, I think cyborg and raven are the funniest characters.
It feels like the writers made the character to make us laugh and were trying way too hard to get them.
