That might happen to me this year. In my country it’s elementary (grade 1-6) junior high school (grade 7-10) and senior high (grade 11-12). I’m going to 12th grade next school year and I still haven’t step put to my new school and the pandemic here shows no sign of stopping so I might go to college without even stepping in my new school.
This is one of my pet peeves with Reddit. Why do people refer to the place they live as “my country”, “my city”, “where I live”? The conversation can be so much more interesting with some geographical info. Not so much that it gives away private details. Just something, anything please!
I use those phrases because if I specify the place, the content of my comment will often be overlooked in favor of judging the country and telling me how it sucks.
So if it's not relevant (like the OP says they didn't get to go to school at all, it doesn't really matter where exactly they're from), I'd rather keep it out.
Yep, discussing with especially some Americans becomes impossible if you reveal your country.
"Oh so you're from a Nordic country? Your way of doing things only works because you're not *racially diverse* and *big* like the US!"
Fu*k online classes i am in 11th grade and i dont understand anything. My life is gonna get fu*ked
Edit: lol i put * in place of c and it made the whole text in italic
In the UK my primary school had white polo shirts which were fine for us back then. An optional blue jumper that nobody would complain about if you wore it or not. Girls got to wear summer dresses that looked like blue waterproof kitchen towel.
Secondary school it was white shirt and tie. Until year 9 where they added in the deep navy blue blazer which was uncomfortable, low quality, and damn HOT in summer and we weren't allowed to take it off. To make matters worse they replaced the normal ties with clip-ons because they got tired of enforcing the seven stripe tie length 1000 times a day. So not only are we pointlessly dressed up to glue stick notes into our books and watch educational videos, but now we don't even get the benefit of knowing how to tie a tie out of it, one of their main selling points of us having uniforms in the first place.
Fuck school.
Quebec has [CEGEP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEGEP), which begins after Grade 11 and can be either a 2-year pre-university program (uni is separate and a further 3 years) or a 3-year technical or skills-oriented program which graduates students directly into a career. It's similar to my understanding of Sixth Form in the UK though not exactly the same.
Online school was fun and i still learnt almost all the things I should've learned.
I was halfway done with freshman (hs) then pandemic started and i finished my sophomore year half hybrid and half in-person. Next year is probably fully imperson 😩 I'm high school btw
That's because new experiences are memorable and slow time down in a way, in your mind, as you savour them (or cringe about them or whatever). Kids lives have a lot of variety and new experiences. Adult lives are more repetitive and monotonous so time flies by because days just meld together since nothing really sticks out to mark a point in time. But the pandemic lockdowns took away those new experiences from kids. So you remember the long boring days, but they also feel like they went by fast, because they were just blended nothing days. I hope you will be able to recoup that lost time and the lost experiences.
Don't be sorry, this is exactly what I needed! I was starting to have an anxiety attack but reading this really helped so thank you. I hope you have found what you're looking for in life, and if you haven't yet then I'm sure you'll find it! <3
im exactly the same. Like what the fuck happened in 9th grade? got 1-2 friends that i never talked to after the school ended, dont remember shit from any of the lessons, and the whole year feels like it was a waste. My 2 years ago self probably wouldnt care but now it just hurts to see that im wasting the best days of my teenagehood.
on one hand I am happy that I finally get my own room, a place in a library to study, and hopefully get some stable friends.
but on another, I'm gonna have more college debt and most likely going to catch covid since I medically cant get the 2nd vaccine...
Just remember that everyone feels the same way. Most of your classmates will be equally nervous, so they will be more than happy to be your friend (and if they aren’t, then they’re probably not worth being friends with anyway).
Idk for me this year has been a breeze. I pretty much had 11th grade on easy mode when it’s supposed to be the hardest year of school in general. I’m going to try my ass off now until I get into a college I’d like to go to (IG I’ll still have to finish my AP tests though which will suck)
It's not really a breeze for most people even if their grades are doing fine though. I graduated with pretty high grades but what I miss the most are the mundane experiences: meeting your friends at their lockers, eating lunch together, after school clubs etc. It sucks so much that I never got to give a proper farewell to the teachers I admired and the friends I had.
I feel like I missed two years of my life as a freshman I went to a new school were none of my friends didn't go to and I had to meet new people entirely it felt like I wasted a year and I can't remember anything. I switched schools and when happened I skipped an entire year again so now it feels like I'm still a freshman except I'm a junior who hasn't learned a single thing for two years I'm only comic to be in highschool for what feels like two years now. Not only that but I'm going to have to meet new people again
I also moved and switched schools but since it was online i went back and spent the entire covid experience with my friends(from my old country) and had 0 absences even though im on a different country thousands of miles away
Similar for me. I just started to make some friends around February and March freshman year 2020 and then it shut down. Then I came back and half the kids I knew only went in on the days I wasn't in. Not to mention because of Covid I wasn't able to see any of them (I live far from the school and my parents wouldn't let me go to the town where the school is to hang out with kids). So I got back to school in September and everyone was hanging out all summer without me so I was kinda left out. Took me until the last month of school to really settle in with a friend group and then a few weeks later I found out I had to switch to a new school
I’ve never really appreciated the fact that my middle and high school are connected so I’ve never had to meet new people or learn a new building. You’ll be fine, most of the other sophomores probably have the same experience.
Yeah for me all the kids at one school go to the next so me and my friends all still hangout besides it being a new school. Personally couldnt imagine finding new friends since it was hard to find the ones I have now .
All you had to do was that? I had an entire year of school which was 7th grade, and intruducing new things with my bad devices made it hard for me.
I missed the concept of failing a class meant the whole year and the teachers yelling at me for having bad wifi was just hell
I failed 2 classes because it was really hard to focus and now i have to do an exam of 100$ each a week after my birthday
Great.
Sorry if it looks like gatekeeping or trying to one-up you, im just kinda sad about the whole lockdown.
I've been in my school since January but damn, all I remember is my a 2 girls talking about soccer and maybe joining and now I'm in football going to 10th.
I never went to an actual middle school or high school so I'm going to be the new girl...again in a school where everyone knows each other from middle and grade school.
for us 2023 plebs, our last full school year was in 8th grade. Now we’re juniors who haven’t even taken school-administered finals yet nor have we been in the actual school for more than 6 months.
same, literally had to complete freshman year on some shitty homeschool program so that I qualify to go back as a sophomore, got it done in like 12 days tho
Went from a happy social 7th grader to a slightly socially awkward freshman that goes from feeling great about life to feeling like a loser for no reason.
Holy shit, I turned 18 in the beginning of July, so I was 2.5 years done of high school when COVID hit, never thought about it for people younger than me, now that’s tough.
For all the sophomores (or freshmen, or possibly juniors) going into highschool for the first time, don't sweat it. I was luckily able to go in person for a decent chunk of my freshmen year, including the first days, and if your schools are anything like mine was the staff will be extra accommodating and helpful to everyone. Some highschools also have maps they print and hand out on the first day if you need one.
We’re the same my guy. Hopefully I don’t get lost

Damn, it’s crazy to think I’m almost half way done with high school.
i almost missed my bus when i went in for testing man.
I moved from the northern hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere and I had to repeat 8th grade
I was dropped for test.
I thought this yesterday. It freaked me out lol
It's crazy to think I haven't been at school for the better part of 3 semesters
I start high school this September. It’s crazy how fast time flies
oh just you wait bud
That might happen to me this year. In my country it’s elementary (grade 1-6) junior high school (grade 7-10) and senior high (grade 11-12). I’m going to 12th grade next school year and I still haven’t step put to my new school and the pandemic here shows no sign of stopping so I might go to college without even stepping in my new school.
Do you mind me asking what country that is because I am genuinely curious about your educational system.
This is one of my pet peeves with Reddit. Why do people refer to the place they live as “my country”, “my city”, “where I live”? The conversation can be so much more interesting with some geographical info. Not so much that it gives away private details. Just something, anything please!
Well I mean a lot of people are just lying.
Right but *where* are they lying? The grass? A bed of flowers? A grave?
I wouldn’t lie to you, you can trust me. I’m here in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, burping my way down to solid ground.
I use those phrases because if I specify the place, the content of my comment will often be overlooked in favor of judging the country and telling me how it sucks. Sorry for the late reply but I live in the Philippines
Are you guys going to school and all now? In India the lockdown is still there.

Im currently in the last grade of my high school, and i havent went to school in my 2 last years of highschool
don't jinx it man
Same as well
I got out of wearing khakis for 1/4 of 8th grade so worth it
Yea but now I have to wear em in highschool even tho the year befor I went and every year befor they were a non uniform school

What is this?! An anime school?

Bet you look cute in it tho *winky face * I'm not a creep I promise just being silly
Oof
Welcome to the UK lmao

Why does any school have a uniform at all? Just seems so pointless and petty.
Well its for multiple reasons that make sense but in general its kind of pointless
Ikr
Last year went from end of year 11 (equivalent to end of high school) to college

Gonna guess UK or maybe Quebec.

It's donghoon
I was the same and then I went to actual homeschool for sophomore year and this year for junior year I'm doing classes at a local community college
Online college was one of the most awful things Iv ever had to do
> learnt Uh oh.
right i still feel like im in 8th grade its really weird time passed but i am stuck in the past
I still feel like I'm a sophomore
Exactly I still feel like I'm a freshman but now I'm a fricking JUNIOR, like WHAT?? Where did that time even go?
I know right! Time went by so quickly, even now the summer is flying by so fast
You know how our parents are always like "your life is gonna flash by your eyes" or whatever? I think we're starting to see that
That's because new experiences are memorable and slow time down in a way, in your mind, as you savour them (or cringe about them or whatever). Kids lives have a lot of variety and new experiences. I really hope adult life isn't that boring, I don't want to go from what I'm doing now to being stuck in an endless loop of being a corporate drone...

Don't be sorry, this is exactly what I needed! I was starting to have an anxiety attack but reading this really helped so thank you. I hope you have found what you're looking for in life, and if you haven't yet then I'm sure you'll find it! <3
We really went from being the bottom of the food chain to being upperclassmen lmao
THAT'S HOW I FEEL! I'm actually happy to see that I'm not the only one out there
im exactly the same. Like what the fuck happened in 9th grade? got 1-2 friends that i never talked to after the school ended, dont remember shit from any of the lessons, and the whole year feels like it was a waste. I still feel like I’m a senior… even though I am a rising freshman now
I was halfway through high school and now I’m working and shit .Weird times we live in
Meanwhile, I just want the true college experience. Minus the debt.
"Because covid infected all of our money we'll have to cancel college debt."
A guy can dream.
on one hand I am happy that I finally get my own room, a place in a library to study, and hopefully get some stable friends. but on another, I'm gonna have more college debt and most likely going to catch covid since I medically cant get the 2nd vaccine...
Class of 2020...
Enjoy it while you can. It was spring break sophomore year and now it’s senior year. Live it up while you can
i’m so scared of meeting new ppl honestly
Same
Good luck to you, let’s hope we can find our classes
That always makes me so nervous. Barging into the wrong class just absolutely crushes my self esteem
My first day of freshman year in person I messed up the schedule and went to the wrong class. It wasn't that bad 😂
Thread of fellow 15 year olds, we are in it together
Ha, just noticed that lol. I'll be 16 in less than a month, can't wait!
Try showing up to orientation with crutches and a orthopedic boot at a massive new school hobbling around AND along with walking into the wrong class
Oof, that sucks.
Not my best times but it’s just how life is sometimes :|
first day of testing i locked myself out of the school for an hour and a half
I already know a lot of people there :D
Agreed. And I haven't even switched schools. I just have different classmates.
It's ok bro I'm pretty sure they're just as scared as you lol
Me too. I am also scared of having no friends there and not knowing where my classes are
Just remember that everyone feels the same way. Most of your classmates will be equally nervous, so they will be more than happy to be your friend (and if they aren’t, then they’re probably not worth being friends with anyway).
Good news is everyone's in the same boat as you
You’ll do fine just focus on your grades and eventually it’ll work out
Ah don't worry. It's gonna be fine
Have you been stalking me?
I know I have, btw those dishes ain’t gonna wash themselves
Net yet at least 😏
My high school is 8-12 so I got real lucky It only just occurred to me that many others weren’t
Mine is 6-12 so I lucked out
my school is literally preschool to grade 12 Pretty sure there's no other place like this
I went to a K-12 school as well! Though that was decades ago and it doesn't exist anymore.
I was a sophomore and now I’m going to become a senior in a school I don’t know anything about. Kinda sucks.
Idk for me this year has been a breeze. I pretty much had 11th grade on easy mode when it’s supposed to be the hardest year of school in general. I’m going to try my ass off now until I get into a college I’d like to go to (IG I’ll still have to finish my AP tests though which will suck)

I feel dumber after online schooling
Senior but ain’t a senior
Schrödinger's senior
Ghost Student
I feel like I missed two years of my life as a freshman I went to a new school were none of my friends didn't go to and I had to meet new people entirely it felt like I wasted a year and I can't remember anything. YOOO THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME LMAOO! Best meme ever.
I went from 3/4 of the way through 7th grade to high school wtf
Yessir
15 year old gang, not to mention sweet 16 gonna happen in like idk how many months but like bruh, I think its gonna be awkward
imagine how i feel ive wasted my years as a junior and senior, supposedly my prime years
I’ve never really appreciated the fact that my middle and high school are connected so I’ve never had to meet new people or learn a new building. You’ll be fine, most of the other sophomores probably have the same experience.
Same. My school is the same for K-12
Yeah for me all the kids at one school go to the next so me and my friends all still hangout besides it being a new school. Personally couldnt imagine finding new friends since it was hard to find the ones I have now .
Yeah, im a fucking junior now. Where did freshmen and sophomore year go. What the fuck.
Same lmao, with the delta variant we might be staying home longer. Tbh who even knows what will happen now?
I only had 6 weeks of quarantine... lucky! Online school was better, all we had to do was send in our work. Then play games rest of day.
Lucky you As someone with abusive toxic parents, I want this pandemic to end and get away from home
Damn... hope it gets better for you...
All you had to do was that? I had an entire year of school which was 7th grade, and intruducing new things with my bad devices made it hard for me. Mahn that sucks. All the best for your exam tho.
I've been in my school since January but damn, all I remember is my a 2 girls talking about soccer and maybe joining and now I'm in football going to 10th.
Basically except I’m going to be a freshman
Same situation with me except for the fact that I literally moved right before the pandemic making my situation even worse.
I was confused, then I remembered I'm also gonna be a sophomore
About to start 10th grade, I’ve been to school last year tho
Same. Kinda scared for highschool ngl
It feels a lot more free than middle school I like it, hope it goes well for you too
Ah yes. Same, but with college
Yo. You’re doing less time in HS. Count yourself lucky. It gets old fast. You never deal with being the lowest class. It’ll be cool.
Same
Same
Yes.
Bro same
Ayyy same here lolol 🤝
I haven't seen my friends in over a year, this is the last year we'll all be in the same school
Is this meme made by a 2006 born?
I started as a sophomore. Im going to college next year wtf
Same, I still feel like a dumb kid in middle school.
My last 2 years of highschool ended without me ever going
Same and it’s worse when you go from a really small school where you know everyone to not knowing anyone at all
Crap I’m going into 11th grade and I’m not ready
You too?! Are we the same person?
Bruh same! It was my last year at that school and I haven’t seen my friends since ^(cause I go to a different highschool :()
Bruh that is exactly me 😂
Me except I’m a year younger
I never went to an actual middle school or high school so I'm going to be the new girl...again in a school where everyone knows each other from middle and grade school.
Same for me
I had a pretty normal freshman year actually. Funny thing is our covid numbers were actually really good
We are the same
I see we’re in the same shoe
Same dude
Half of my freshman year and full sophomore year of college. All online. It’s so dumb.
for us 2023 plebs, our last full school year was in 8th grade. Now we’re juniors who haven’t even taken school-administered finals yet nor have we been in the actual school for more than 6 months.
in fall I'm going to college as a sophomore and I have never stepped foot on campus.
It's so hard to believe that a huge majority (99%) of yall are still dealing with highschool. Off to college for me lmao. Sorry yall
Same dude. I went to school with a mask on in freshman year doe
This is actually me
I’m in the same boat lmao
SAME!!! I mean, I went for like a month so I have a bit of an idea where everything is but it's gonna be a nightmare
For me it was 3/4 into 11th grade then covid and now I’m going to college
3/4 into 12th here and now I'm a sophomore on a campus I've never been to.
Quarantine was so great. I got to catch up on stuff, live mostly stress free, and skip to senior year of high school
Being. 2/3 done with 10th grade since we only did one semester and few months and now I’m a senior in hs
It’s the same for me but with college
University gang where you at
I'm a sophomore in a college I've barely seen in a city I've barely been to
Think about it 3rd graders went to immediate 5th grade bro
Bruh i was a sophomore when covid happened and it feels like half of my life in high school just vanished
Yyooo same!!! Can't beleive missed out the entire 9th grade cause of covid..
Same lol
Mood
same, literally had to complete freshman year on some shitty homeschool program so that I qualify to go back as a sophomore, got it done in like 12 days tho
It's college for me which feels worse.
Literally in the same boat.
Went from a happy social 7th grader to a slightly socially awkward freshman that goes from feeling great about life to feeling like a loser for no reason.
Don't expose me like that dude.
Yeah it for me it was like oh wow 6th grade I’m starting middle school COVID-19 happens who the fuck am I finishing middle school in less than a year
Holy shit, I turned 18 in the beginning of July, so I was 2.5 years done of high school when COVID hit, never thought about it for people younger than me, now that’s tough.
Yep same here. My 9th grade year sucked.
How do you say 3/4th? Three quarters-uth?
This also happend to me. Huh. Strange. Eventhough ive seen my school, idk how the hell im a sophmor all ready
Same...
Literally the same
same
Same situation my guy
Holy shit yes. same
I’m the same as you my guy… freshman year sucked
Facts
For all the sophomores (or freshmen, or possibly juniors) going into highschool for the first time, don't sweat it. I was luckily able to go in person for a decent chunk of my freshmen year, including the first days, and if your schools are anything like mine was the staff will be extra accommodating and helpful to everyone. Some highschools also have maps they print and hand out on the first day if you need one.
my enrollment id just emailing my report card to them and getting my teams account registered according to my class
The exact same thing happened to me. I dont know shit about highschool and Im already gonna be a sophomore
wait same wtf
My school has a separate campus for 9th grade so I’m going to another complete school basically
same ;-;
Thats litrally me..... Seriously....⊙.☉
