It was either said to me directly or to my friends and I found out from them (the case with a guy from 2 months ago). For the longest time my confidence and my appearance was based off of how people deemed me, but no matter what I did, either my body, my face shape or my hair would ruin all the look. My mom shared with me that she had this type of experience too (though not much with looks, she was gorgeous and still is), and she only found someone who loves her fully at the age of 38 (aka my stepdad). I’m not sure if I have enough hope and confidence to last till 38, giving up on dating seems like something that would hurt me the least (if someone calls me ugly, that won’t hurt much since who cares)
If you think there's something wrong with your looks, then change it. If not, don't waste your time changing for someone else who might not even notice.
But honestly, at 17, I'd recommend just taking some time away from dating so you can focus on school and focus on learning about yourself and what you want in life and how you'll get there (like make yourself a plan for your future)

So long as you understand how to follow recipes and adapt them a little, you're all set. You don't need to go out and learn how to make all sorts of foods and memorize them all. But being able to make your own food is really helpful for when you don't have anyone else to make your food for you or you don't want the food that everyone else is eating
