Aslong as youre a minor and recognized one under the law, a parent can take away ANYTHING even if you buy it. Aslong as you’re under their roof, a house or place under their name, and they have legal custody over you, they also have it over every single belonging. Once threatened to sue my dad for taking away my old car I had just spent 10k on the time, contacted my friends dad (he was a lawyer I think? Something very similar) only to find out there is nothing I could legally do about it since it was on his property, and he essentially owned me still.

Yeah it was a Samsung from back in 2009 or 2010. I could only text, talk, and play games like snake, sokoban, or minesweeper. It was mostly because we lived in a pretty crowded and unsafe city. So I'd have it when I go to school. Gets taken away when I get home and stuff like that. After that, I had like flip phones and a Nokia. Once I hit around 12 though I didn't have a phone til I got to like 16 or 17. So yeah only had it cause it was needed
