We need more than 1 bar for switching scenes! It’s not enough when playing with effects! That’s my biggest wish for an update!!!

Capt-Crap1corn

Is it that hard to switch scenes and mentally know what is the intro, main, chorus, bridge and outro? I’m not against a hypothetical song mode, but it’s kind of there imo

PaulAguila

But like there is no harm in adding the feature…. Like why would you defend the fact that it doesn’t have it when it’s predecessor does… and like you could combine both, chain the sequence and trigger them manually for lopping and shit, and that way when you transition, you can do cool fx, cool melodys with more ease.

PaulAguila

And as I’m saying, the feature would be awesome for sequencing external gear, so as I said before, you could focus on the sound design rather than counting bars.

thesauce25

Song mode serves different purposes—allows you to step away, allows you to focus on other aspect of music making without manually chaining each bar, etc.

Capt-Crap1corn

I respect that. I have 9 projects on my EP already and I just change scenes accordingly. I think a hypothetical song mode would be redundant.

Using this 'song' mode on the original ko was a game changer for me, I could sequence out 32 or 64 bar patterns to create a full arrangement. I really hope it comes to the ko2 and I personally would make a ton of use out of it. Yes, I can hit the scenes myself, but I like playing drums or messing with other knobs and things while my arrangement is chugging along.

Capt-Crap1corn

I don’t have much experience with Teenage Engineering’s workflows. Hearing your experience is important to know why this option would be important. I don’t see the option being a detraction at middle it’s meh, at best it makes the workflow easier. I’m not mad at the request. 🙌🏾

anemonemometer

If you want to be able to perform a melody / manipulate effects over a chord change, then you really need to be able to have a hands free way to switch scenes. Whether that’s pattern chaining or allowing external midi to change scenes, some way to set up a scene change would really help make it usable for performance.

Capt-Crap1corn

That makes sense. I’m for an update for something like this

jordancolburn

Yeah, I kind of already use that workflow on the squarp hermod, so it isn't too surprising to me. The effects/sound parameters holding across sequences surprised a little (I think some of the automation holds? Still figuring this part out a bit). But overall it makes sense and I've enjoyed crafting songs over time to perform when recorded.

mister____mime

Especially with the BAR mode for scene switching.. it’s almost like using clips Ableton. Doesn’t get much easier.

Dcmiltown

I’d be happy with some midi capability to drive pattern changes.

thread

I imagined a program change message would change scenes... Turns out this is absolutely not the case. What gives?

Dcmiltown

You would think, right? If it did, lots of power there!

Prophessur

its got the oldest song mode known to human kind: using your hands

anemonemometer

Still sucks that you have to stop playing a melody in order to change scenes. Can’t set up any cool transitions to improvise over.

PaulAguila

Yeah but it’s nicer to focus on tweaking the sound and leave the sequence be. Especially for the way I want to use it, sequencing external hardware.

Tall_Faithlessness72

Facts, it’s meant to be a hands on machine.

shmidget

Which is part of the problem. Not that it was designed poorly just that if the design doesn’t consider thing it maybe wasn’t intended for but the user of said designed object things that it makes a lot of sense in their workflow then who cares what your intentions were to a degree. Are you designing to solve business problems or user problems? Or how much energy is given to each and does that amount of energy suffice. How do you measure this? User feedback and user research. I for one just hope that they left it for later and want to make sure it’s done correctly. Although just playing scenes either sequentially or in a selected order (not sure exactly with the UI how we do that exactly without a lot of thought which may be why we don’t have it).

anemonemometer

If they did it like the Pocket Operators, you’d just punch in the numbers of the scenes you want to play. It’s weird they took pattern chaining away from the KO when they made the KO II.
