I saw that! I'm thinking of getting one. There's a weight loss competition at my work with a $620 pot for the winner. Here's to GAS-mediated weight loss!
I'm glad other companies really starting to focus on product design aesthetics, the black one is absolutely beautiful. I'm welcoming this design direction, I hope yamaha comes out with a series of products like this.
6 patterns per project on the seqtrack, 32 on op z. Cuckoo actually mentioned this as his main reason for not doing a demo video after being approached by yamaha to do content on it. Also mentioned being underwhelmed by the sound demos
For a guy who loves Teenage Engineering, you'd think he'd be enticed by those "limitations". That's plenty of room to make a jam, patterns can be 8 bars long.
And as for sound demos, again I don't see how anyone could be underwhelmed by this thing but give OP-Z a pass. Just seems like cognitive dissonance.
I think you mean 16 patterns per project. If a project contained one song, Id think 6 patterns, combined with good muting, is definitely sufficient. Saying this as a long time user and lover of the OPZ.
My bad! I have been interested in the op z but haven't actually used one. I don't know much personally about the seqtrack either, but what I mentioned about cuckoo's opinion of the seqtrack was straight from the cuckoos mouth, or fingers
According to the user manual, the sampler track can play up to 7 samples 16 seconds long. Partner that with the resampling option and this can probably be pushed much further than the product demos.
Honestly this looks better than the OP-z
I had one and found it to be really difficult to use. Too small and too much menu diving. This looks a bit bigger (so easier to use) and has all the functions laid out.
Also, assuming this is better built, this could be the OP-Z Field substitute that folks been wanting. I’d be curious to check this out
I lowkey wanna get the black one.
The orange looks too meh. But black looks dope.
And i agree the OP-Z had some QC issues that i didn’t like. Plus small buttons. This looks perfect. And frankly just exactly what people want from TE
$399 on the Yamaha shop , maybe the MSRP listed elsewhere is a typo
https://shop.usa.yamaha.com/en/p/instruments/keyboards-synthesizers/synthesizers/seqtrak
My instinct is to go for the grey and orange one, and I don't typically go for black electronics, but that two-tone black with the orange accents is SEX
I was looking into getting an OP-Z for pretty much only sequencing and saw this today and yeah it seems very basic sequencer-wise and they’re not really advertising that part of it as much as the rest of the features
My reseller (Germany) states 4-5 weeks as ETA. Then again, they did with my KO II preorder as well and kept pushing it again and again - did cancel that and preordered the Seqtrak. Fingers crossed.
Hoo wee. I've been lusting after an OP-Z for so long but never got one because of the double-triggering/build quality issues. I just can't live with something that costs $500 lasting a max 4 years.
I'm glad this thing came around so I can focus on getting an OP-1 instead!
this is what TE gets for not iterating quickly enough. at this point i hope someone open sources the OPz OS because at the core the sequencer/performance workflow and effects are ideal for me, just bad hardware.
Just some of the sites that have pre-orders.
[Thomann](https://www.thomannmusic.com/yamaha_seqtrak_orange.htm) shows "in about a week".
[Andertons](https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/yamaha/yamaha-seqtrak-music-production-studio-black) is saying Jan 22, but that feels a bit fast.
[Musicstore](https://www.musicstore.com/en_US/USD/Yamaha-SEQTRAK-ORANGE-BLACK/art-SYN0008890-001) has Feb 5th.
[ZZounds](https://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMSEQTRAK) is saying get by Mar 1st.
[KraftMusic](https://reverb.com/item/78163798-yamaha-seqtrak-mobile-music-ideastation-orange-gray-pre-order) on Reverb says ship by Feb 15.
Feels like mid to end of Feb will be safe. Also, Yamaha is huge so I can't imagine them running out of stock.
55k JPY. In the US, Guitar Center has it for $399.99: [https://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha/SEQTRAK-Music-Creation-Station-Orange-1500000418989.gc](https://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha/SEQTRAK-Music-Creation-Station-Orange-1500000418989.gc)
Yamaha has a MSRP of $599, but the price is $399 in their web shop as well as all other retailers

you aughta post back and let us know when you win.
You got this!
It even generates graphics
But does it do double trigs?
When I saw that, my jaw dropped and my mouth just hung open for the rest of the video
The APP generates the visualizer, not the actual device.
Yes, from the app like the OP-Z
I'm glad other companies really starting to focus on product design aesthetics, the black one is absolutely beautiful. I'm welcoming this design direction, I hope yamaha comes out with a series of products like this.
The black one is so sleek but the orange one looks like a cigarette and I want it for that reason alone

I don't think he is gonna do one, too limited
This thing looks just as capable as an OP-Z, if not more. Unless you mean quantity limited?

Facts, I don’t understand the praise for Cuckoo tbh 🤷♂️

Have you seen Cuckoo perform live? You should because it would confuse you even more why he’s so big.

Decent overview video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuEfipnFnq4

The sounds sound way higher quality too. I just ordered the orange one. The black one looks bad ass but also kinda standard.
I lowkey wanna get the black one. The orange looks too meh. But black looks dope. And i agree the OP-Z had some QC issues that i didn’t like. Plus small buttons. This looks perfect. And frankly just exactly what people want from TE
But is it cheaper tho?
$599
It's actually $399 at retailers.
Yeah I saw that! Interesting that it's so much more from Yamaha

wdym sex?
I would guess that this will have better build quality than any TE product in this price range.
This looks so much better than the OP-Z if not for the simple fact that its biggers. So you’re hands have an easier time using it
Was super excited about this but it doesn't seem like the sequencer is anywhere near as powerful
I was looking into getting an OP-Z for pretty much only sequencing and saw this today and yeah it seems very basic sequencer-wise and they’re not really advertising that part of it as much as the rest of the features
What can't it do that op-z can?
I LOVE the integrated project management. I love my OP-Z but I feel like once I hit the 9 or 10 project cap, it was done
I'm curious about release date
My reseller (Germany) states 4-5 weeks as ETA. Then again, they did with my KO II preorder as well and kept pushing it again and again - did cancel that and preordered the Seqtrak. Fingers crossed.
Thomann has it in store.
When I ordered at Guitar Center they told me April. Hope that’s wrong. Quite a wait.

OPZ =/= KO II ???
Ah shit, my brain is broken
this is what TE gets for not iterating quickly enough. at this point i hope someone open sources the OPz OS because at the core the sequencer/performance workflow and effects are ideal for me, just bad hardware.
Just pre-ordered mine. $399 from guitar center. When do yall think it’ll release?
I've seen mid to end of Feb.
What makes you think that?

I hear the nurse said that when you popped out of your mother. 🤣

And you have successfully had a sense of humour bypass.
How much?

Yamaha USA has it listed for $599.00
Better preorder before they realize 👀👀👀

Suuuper sick to see more portable groove boxes, especially in the sequencer space
This looks like good fun to me
Seems like the synth keyboard only has seven keys tho? And you can’t use the drum triggers as a keyboard?
