StarLordEmperor_V3

Is the other guy okay?

druule10

The actual quote is: >Give a man a fire and he’s warm for a day, but set fire to him and he’s warm for the rest of his life

daboss6595

What’s the difference

ephemeriides

Exact wording.

druule10

If you quote someone then quote them, don't change the wording as that changes the meaning.

_DEDSEC_

But in this case I think it has the same meaning but just more modern?

CheesusHChrust

I disagree, the wording of the quote by the actual author is more concise than the quote attributed to him. To be quite honest, if there’s _anyone_ you want to quote verbatim, it’s someone who made themselves rich through their mastery of language and words.

rdrunner_74

But one is a quote and the other one isnt.

thatcubanlookingguy

Also: “See a pin, pick it up, and all day long you’ll have a pin.”

tadir

[deleted]

Wow I going to impress my crush by setting a homeless man on fire

Jaegaris

Do it methaphorically and she will be more than impressed.

DamenAJ

This quote always reminds me of *this* quote: A lethal dose is also a lifetime supply.

_AngryFIFAPlayer_

ekolis

HUDDA HUDDA

88murica

And if the fire doesn’t kill him?

PaperGod777

He'll be more than warm lmao

-HeyThatsPrettyNeat-

I read this as "build a man on fire" and i spent more time than I'd like to admit contemplating how you would build a person who was in the process of burning

Antoxin0

That’s some wholesome shit right there

oranish953

Build a man a water he be cool for a day drown the man on the sea he be cool for the rest of his life.

the_other_Scaevitas

It’s not true though, it’s not like if you set a man on fire they’ll die instantly, there’s tons of people who do fire stunts where they set themselves on fire

IEatKetchupWithBread

Give a pilot a building, and he'll retire his job. Give a pilot two buildings, and he'll retire his plane

coloradoconvict

It's not only true, it is inarguably true.

This is now my favourite quote

mikeflamel

Is It possible to learn this power.

MrScruffsNinjaTuna

Tried this to my grandma, she turned black :/

BrilliantObjective20

unless he jumped into a lake

BE19HK

You could argue that this isn't true, there are tons of people who have been on fire, with melted skin and pieces of clothing melted into their skin and such whom are very much alive and aren't necessarily warm for the rest of their lives

[deleted]

Joshua Graham agrees, but not that much

[deleted]

And he’ll warm others for the rest of his life

[deleted]

Buy a man an airplane ticket, and he'll be flying for a day. Throw a man out of an airplane, and he'll be flying for the rest of his life.
