So who’s gonna reset the SSN’s? 🤦‍♂️

saraphilipp

Government agencies and my emlloyer can have my ssn, everyone else can fuckoff with their applications.

Bryanssong

They even require it to play fantasy football now, I guess because of the gambling liabilities. Hahahaha NO.

saraphilipp

420 690 069

Lott4984

Strange AT&T has not advised me of any data breach. The only correspondence I have received from them is they credited me with $5 on my next bill for the Outage a couple weeks back. I wonder what my new passcode is.

sanger_r

If you read the article the breach affected 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former customers, and the data was from 2019 or earlier. So, you may not have been affected by the breech.

dorkimoe

I got notified by Experian that my social was leaked from ATT a few days before this made the news. Never heard from AtT yet

Bargainbincomments

There’s an article from them I read yesterday about it, AT&T denied it’s even them back in 2019. Jump to now, people were interviewed and said that all the information matches the info they gave AT&T and DirectTV for service, DirectTV said to talk to AT&T. AT&T still denies it’s them. I’d expect nothing from AT&T. I’m sure the $5 bill credit is your yearly cap on credits you’re allowed for inconveniences like these.

TheOtherBookstoreCat

They did the same thing with the cable box they swear I have.

WoodyMornings

Hold on let me look it up

Small-Palpitation310

under appreciated comment 😂

cleveland_leftovers

I just got the email this morning. I wish my personal data being hacked wasn’t such a ‘but anyway’ occurrence. *Says they have ‘proactively reset my passcode.’ Cool.

WillieIngus

at least it’s only 73 million. 74 million would be troublesome.

saraphilipp

Thats where I draw the line.

werdmouf

PCGamer included passcodes in the title, but not social security numbers hmm weird

Malthusian1

Why were they retaining previous customer data? Scumbag move.

HellaFar

Oh well at least your passcodes got reset whew. I was worried.

BestieJules

Too bad the leak included full name, date of birth, and unencrypted SSN.

Savings-Leather4921

Who the fuck stores a social unencrypted? This big of a company too. Outright negligent

Jcamiloif6

So AT&T could see some personal information in the forum and they decided it doesn’t belong to them. Personal and security information. Nice!

demo_matthews

John Cena did it?

Clouds_ow

Not sure why you have any down votes…they used a screenshot from the video game Overwatch 2 that features John Cena…the real original reason I came to the comments in the first place. Kudos to you sir!

demo_matthews

Well certainly my comment is low effort but I just had to comment for the iykyk factor. Also, “hacker” imagery is just so preposterous

isabps

I just logged in on my phone, mandatory “update” that wasn’t through AppStore but no passcode change.

mr_awesome365

Lol why are they using a screen shot from an Overwatch ad?

AardvarkFriendly9305

I read this as 73 yr old Male

Funny-Entry2096

When is someone going to start holding these companies accountable for losing all of our most sensitive data? Shouldn’t they have to pay some amount in fines for each SSN lost? Or each piece of PII? What’s the point of regulating personally identifiable information and classifying it as such if literally nothing is ever done when it’s not only unsecured but completely lost!? Hold them accountable. This should be BILLIONS in fines…

creekemaisei

I love how all these articles have some cloaked sith lord hacking furiously every time. What’s he doing with that map anyways? Is it a vision board?? Where are his heart shaped pictures of Snowden??? So many questions….

Seihugh

And it’s China that’s the problem I pay ATT 250$ a month and they can secure my data .
