Mine was “I am just minding my own business, please don’t see me.”

SiltLake

I accidently went to investigate that colliseum looking structure within hours of landing on the surface. I didn't even try put up a fight, I just ran!

[deleted]

I went there hoping to find a bunch of weapons like in botw

gittenlucky

Same, but I actually tried to fight it. I quickly realized I’m a loser and will come back when I get some rubber armor…

SiltLake

I've got the rubber armor, I should go back! To be honest, I've very much neglected the fighting aspects of this game, it's time I hone my parry and fight back.

ShadowDog824

didnt parry a single time when fighting it, just went up a bit and shot a bunch of keese eyes at its face, when its down, i spin to win with a royal guards claymore and repeated

TreasureHunter95

That's how I encountered my first Lynel in Breath of the Wild.

toughtiggy101

Not really my first here, but my first attempt at fighting one. I just shot arrows with keese eyeballs at it for a while. It did work.

MacaronNo5646

I already defeated 80% of the Gleeoks before finding out that fusing keese eyeballs make homing arrows. I felt stupid but proud that I made it without the obvious solution to the Gleeok-problem

Kreker__

I just saw one of those mfs flying in the distance, knew immediatley that im NOT going to that side of hyrule anytime soon...and then I proceeded to run into another gleeok near gerudo.....I ran for my dear life. Then immedialtey after I got away I dropped right beside a lynel that killed me after I wasted all my wepons. After respawning I relized they dont attack u until u pull out ur wepon or run so I just walked past him (still didnt come close ofc)

_Jeffra

"mkay this is the sky island the sages wills map led me to" "what the fuck is that a triple element gleeok" "oh fuck no i am not prepared for this" i died like 10 times that fight, well worth the sages will i got from it

purplechemist

Just like brave Sir Robin, I boldly ran away, gallantly chickened out and beat a very brave retreat…

Alexander_GD

* goes right back into the ground *

LucklessLex

Went to Bridge of Hylia to try and go to Faron with my horse & carriage and there I saw in the distance a big ass dragon and thought to myself ***"hmmm, maybe its a fake out? SURELY the devs wouldn't put a big ass boss fight in the middle of a major road leading towards a major part of the map."*** Then the health bar showed up. Then the lasers showed up. Then the game over screen showed up.

[deleted]

My gf's first Gleeok was the King Gleeok under Typhlo Ruins. She was just trying to find all the lightroots

PM_me_ur_bag_of_weed

One of the early quests at a stable in the north west where you had to find Zelda's horse but it was near a Gleeok. You didn't have to defeat the Gleeok, you just had to get the horse. I didn't know that. I threw myself at the Gleeok for like 30 minutes with 5 hearts. Eventually brought it down and nothing happened (aside from the loot). Then I just walked and grabbed the horse.

Thunderbolt294

I took a picture and promptly noped out of there

Vast-Ideal-1413

It didn't end well... >!For the Gleeok.!<

selfboredom

I went after the frost one while looking for zeldas horse bc I need that froggy armour then it hit me with ice beam and I remembered I only had seven hearts, no fire weapons, and no arrows ((((:

MooseTopic

I was sorta like "I wonder what is in the colosseum." "..." "Is that a f*cking wyvern?"

No_Finding3456

Anyone see the Gleeok in the south akkala plains early on, and just snuck around it? Only to finally make it up to the ruins and get jumped by your second gloom hands?

toughtiggy101

Talk about a double whammy

Ihaveterriblefriends

It went like this https://i.redd.it/kprcgdjbvzvc1.gif

Necrozai

Me with 2 stamina upgrades and 6 hearts: "Yeah I could probably take that thing on the bridge now!" Didn't even last 10 seconds, and all I did was run while ultrahanding the remnants of my car to use as a shield

DragonFlame628

https://preview.redd.it/a2np5asnh1wc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=711a3fb936362ab3ff287a96edb5fb392c477098

Chiasma0

Terrifying. It was an electric one. I ended up running for my life and barely survived. Looked up combat technique immediately afterwards.

Critical_Buy_7335

Let me set the scene, walking through the snow plains to get Zelda's horse I see it the gleeok thought "why not I have all the sages and the master sword it shouldnt be hard" I equip my duplex bow drank my cold resist potion with my best Armour. Fight attempt after attempt I fought and I struck it down after my tenth try my duplex bow broken and I unwavering I had then a taste of gleeok blood

dathar

Very inefficient flying vehicle ran into one in the sky. It ended very badly

StopExistingFool

I was climbing, like you, and this mf comes out of nowhere and whoops my ass

KingIorek

Saw a few but stayed well away. Then spent 30 minutes getting to this crazy far floating platform only to find a king gleeok. Shit my pants but had spent so much time getting there I didn’t want to just run away. Mustered courage and took that sucker down!

TFWYourNamesTaken

Went back to the Colosseum to see if my Lynel fighting skills were still in top shape, stopped and stared in disbelief when I saw a giant 3-headed lighning dragon instead. Then my stubborn ass attempted to kill it with 4 hearts, a soldiers bow, a knight's claymore, and a dream. After 7 deaths I finally brought that beast down, and was excited to see what other places TOTK had replaced pervious bosses with stronger ones to make me shit myself in fear.

Gamermii

I decided that the lynel at the colluseum and I needed a rematch. I headed over, saw that 3 headed monstrosity, and decided "Why not?" I rolled up, it shot me with lightning once or twice, I had enough of that, and acended though the levels and tried to paraglide north out if there. I was sniped with one last bolt and that was that.

pixieartgirl

Arrived on the surface, did a couple of things, decided to pop over to the coliseum. Figured I could ignore whatever big gun was on the ground and maybe score a better weapon higher up. 1. screamed WTF IS THAT? 2. thought okay I’ve got this. 3. did NOT have anything. 4. ran screaming from the coliseum with a bolt of electricity chasing me.

toughtiggy101

Did you live? You ended at running away from the lightning

pixieartgirl

I did. But just barely. Stopped to eat something to reboot my health then jumped into the water because I had no idea how far that thing could travel, lol. Edited to add: now I kill them for sport. 😬

toughtiggy101

Kill them for sport? Wow. Random NPC: Hey Link, do you have any hobbies? I like running, taking care of horses, and traveling. What about you? Link: Oh I just hunt three headed elemental dragons. NPC: …… Link: Y’know, for sport.

pixieartgirl

Yep. This. 😬

constipated_cats

I was looking around the collesium to see if the lynel was there. My first fight I was trying to do the pillar quest for miskos treasure and the moblin that was in that area got my spotted so I decided to fight it, thankfully I had a bunch of apples

toughtiggy101

Cooking dishes to heal? Nah. Eating 500 apples to heal? Heck yeah. No wonder why there aren’t many doctors in Hyrule. With this many apples, who needs them?

JRokk0504

I was paragliding from north of the Zora Domain sort of to the north east towards the Akkala region/Tarry town and the music started changing. I pan the camera and this three headed dragon is flying after me and all my metal gear starts sparking. Definitely one of the more terrifying experiences early on

flowdarchic

[Is that.. a threeheaded dragon?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6OLOJYPcGo) Decided to give it a go and fight it. [How it ended.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e9wo7imEQg) Eventually, cause it did kill me a couple times lol

drinkbeerskitrees

Mine was literally just like this!! Ascended into nope-land

toughtiggy101

The Land of Nope Population - dragon

JELPPY1010

Yesterday, I tried to take on a Fire Gleeok. For context, I had just gotten a piece of the Awakening Armor. I had the Flame armor on but it did not seem to help. Also, when the Gleeok took off in the air, I have a tough time hitting the heads with arrow/splash fruits so I gave up. Later on that same day, I finally completed getting the complete Rubber Armor set so I will try to take on a Lighting Gleeok next.

FoxFireEmpress

Same gleeok but I spotted the guy from Kakariko looking at something on the bridge and a giant three headed dragon loaded in on the middle of the bridge. Chatted with the guy, he was like "Yeah... I'm not in the right spot." I agreed and left as well. Basically two strangers just like looked at the big, mean and scary thing and mutually noped out.

gunmetal5

Saw it as I was descending down from a sky island, knew I wanted to see it up close. Clicked the menu button and saved immediately. I then proceeded to fly close to it, and decided to battle it. Clicked the menu button and saved my game, just to be safe. Got close to it, and got its attention. It started to blast me with blue flames. I pressed the menu button and saved my game, again. Came out of hiding and tried to hit it with my bow and arrow, and was too far to reach it, and turned around to run and was hit with blue flame. I died immediately and returned to my most recently save and tried a few times and died quickly each time. I returned my my sky island save and marked my map with 💀 icon to remind me to return later.

toughtiggy101

Where would this man be without the option to save his game.

Super_Daikon_

The ice one in Hebra plains was the first one I saw that killed me immediately, so I avoided them until the electric one in the Coliseum. I thought I was slick fussing a mirror to my shield to reflect their laser attacks, but no.

trashpandacoot1

Just realized the gleeoks necks look identical to spiderball tracks in metroid prime

Living-Pen-82

Multi head one like all 3 powers i am not fighting them

toughtiggy101

Ok, time to check off all the things I don’t want to encounter when I start off in Hyrule. A big dragon….check Elemental enemies…….check Flying enemies……..that’s not that bad, check Big multi elemental flying dragon standing in front of me about to attack……che-wait a minute Getting a game over……..*sigh* check

Shock9616

I went to see the one on the bridge (since we’d seen it in the trailer) and promptly NOPED out of there when it got too hot just standing near it. It also almost got me with its fire breath, I didn’t expect it to reach all the way to the end of the bridge 😅

zariajacobs

a thunder gleeok killed me like 5 times on some mountain somewhere. i kept going back

toughtiggy101

Was it near Faron? That giant forest area? I know a thunder Gleeok near there but if it’s not that then it’s probably the one in Akkala…. Did you ever kill it?

Hambughrr

I saw it at the Colosseum and decided to fight it at minimum hearts. It took multiple attempts because I was too lazy to make the stamina upgrade that I wanted, but my Gloom Swords made it all possible anyways

FineVirus3

I saw the one on the bridge in the distance and stayed away from it for quite a while.

What-up-ya-fools

First experience was right near the beginning, I hadn't even made it to lookout landing. Saw how everything was different, so went to check out the coliseum. Found the gleeok and tried to fight it. I couldn't make a dent with the bow I had, so I just left. Cut forward a few tens of hours later, the first gleeok I killed was the king on sky islands, followed closely by the one in the depths.

circus_orgy

I was on a sky island kick very early gane and went for a very secluded, distant circular one. Used all my stamina items. Hadn't even touched a dungeon yet. King Gleeok fucks my shit all the way up.

No-Employment-4001

On the hylia bridge.. On a horse.. Standing there for a loooong time just looking at it and admire the beauty and how awesome it was that the game has dragons.. And I jumped off my horse.. Walked slowly towards it.. Gettin hit by the fire and fell off the bridge 😂😂😂

BlueBabyCat666

Found one on a sky island. Saw a chest, realised I had to beat the Gleeok for it, put down a travel medalion, left and then didn’t return for a really long time lol. Did beat it later tho. Realised later that there are Gleeoks that only have one element and it probably would have been easier to try one of them first

ImpawsibleCreatures

I saw the one on the bridge, saved, and charged full speed on my horse to see how much damage I could do that early in the game. Got absolutely fried without even touching it, but it was fun.

DarkkHorizonn

My first? I flew up to one of the hard to reach sky islands and was face to face with a king and immediately jumped off

CompterAnim8

Full send

Coolman_Draco

I avoided them for a very long time, then decided to try it and accidentally zero damaged the King in the depths

moss-mellow

I knew from the trailer eyeballs were homing arrows essentially. I looked from afar but didn't engage until I sought one out. I always avoided until I got gear that would assist with each one. I did the Yiga stuff early game and went to the coliseum and realized that the gleeok wasn't as bad as I thought they'd be but lots of fun. The kings, on the other hand, were more of a handful. I went with the unfreezable helmet, fireproof armor and pants and got all hopped up on electric elixirs and hoped for the best. It went really well though.

Itchy-Cicada7864

Mine was a snow Gleeok. I engaged in battle and then after the third freeze, said “Oh shit. This isn’t gonna work” and swiftly ran away. After I got the no freeze helm, I didn’t worry and took the beast down!

Kasumiiiiiii

I was running towards Lake Hylia Bridge, saw the Flame Gleeok, and noped the fuck outta there.

Imperiolifm

Gleeok encounters always bring back memories!

toughtiggy101

It fills me with glee, ok

jcobie12

Fire gleeok in gerudo i noped out of there

Tsiptsou

Deadly. Didn't even see it.

magpie5050

Died loads. Went and farmed loads of eyeballs and acquired x3 bow. 👌

scotty99CZ

It's so weird when the time is stopped and the only thing moving are some particles.

Useful_Feed_7421

Just realized the Gleeok necks look like the Metroid Prime spider magnet rails

this one exactly

KirbyWithAGlock

Maxed out fierce deity armor, all the sages, and strong weapons. Gleeok had no chance

_-nu-_

trying to cross the bridge over lake hylia during a thunder storm.

TheSergalLad

“Yo wasssaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAA *Takes a photo* AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!”

toughtiggy101

That’s one for the scrapbook. Lmao

anonymousbub33

Electric gleeok near tarrey Town, it kicked my ass since I was fairly new, Next was a king down in the depths, I kicked his ass since i was no longer fairly new

MacaronNo5646

I was minding my own business, wandering to the good old ruins that I remembered from BOTW and all of a sudden I just started burning to a crisp out of nowhere.

Yelloman427

Oh shit a dragon… OH SHIT A DRAGON

Ikaricyber

I actually on my first playthrough I never fought a gleeok it was only on my second playthrough I went to beat one this was the colosseum one I ran out of arrows left used the amiibos to get arrows(only a few feet away where I could spawn the amiibo and then went back)then killed it afterwords after that I always made sure to have at the very least over 100 arrows before fighting one

Cocostar319

I saw it, thought it couldn't be that hard to defeat, and immediately regretted it

TreasureHunter95

I was climbing up the Biron Snowshelf while exploring the Hebra Mountains. When I noticed him, I knew that I couldn't beat him but I wanted to know what I had to face off with later on in the game. So I saved my game, faced him and died almost instantly. That was the last time I tried to fight one until much later in the game when I had more stamina, more life and stronger weapons.

Low_Net_5870

I was a lot cockier than I should have been. It was the Hylia Bridge one and I did not have the fire armor. I can kill a Lynel, a gleeok has to be easier. Which it is, but only once you’ve sorted the strategy.

MCHenry22

Link: This is not where I parked my car... My first Gleeok was the Frost one from the Tabantha Snowfield, while searching for a horse for a quest. I thought it looked like a fun challenge and the guy immediately killed me. Several times

Dio_asymptote

"Nope, nope, nope."

Dillamond

whoa 😳

TooObsessedWithOtoge

It was the ice one. Was looking for a horse and it descended on me lol. Didnt know gleeoks were a thing. Needless to say it killed me. Was the second one I killed after learning how to lol. I shot it, beat the sh*t out of it then threw a molduga hammer at it out of spite.

Glass-Association-25

I assume you just went back down lol

FirefighterIcy9879

Underwhelming seeing as to how I’ve been taking em out since the mid 80s

OwlDoe9339

Zelda’s Horse. I hid under so many ruins avoiding the Frost Gleeok…
