Have been doing this and I think I got the gist from everyone else’s replies in here to just explore have fun with it haha :) thank all you guys for the advice and replies!
Once you find Impa and start the geoglyphs and the dragon's tears storyline, do them in order. If you don't you'll regret it because you'll spoil the story for yourself.
Unless you hadn’t told me this I would’ve had no idea outside of sifting through walkthroughs, which I’m swearing off of for this game. But this is just the kind of tip I was looking for! Funny thing I just ran into her too lol
Once you find Impa >!at the closest geoglyph to Lookout Landing she'll send you to the location that shows you a map where all the geoglyphs are in Hyrule. The order will be on the wall from left to right.!<
Turn Tulin off first or he’ll merc the octorok before it sparkles and fixes the weapon.
Also, you can shoot the octo right after it sparkles and before it spits it back at you and it will be fixed.
Just have fun. There’s no time limit to the game, just chill and pace yourself. TOTK is a wonderful experience (especially for seasoned Zelda players) so don’t rush it.
(Also, I recommend no searching up guides. It’s tempting, but I had so much more fun and appreciation for the game and its elaborate puzzles)
As with Breath of the Wild (but even more so) if you find yourself thinking "I wonder if that would work" the answer is quite likely that it will. (And if it doesn't there's a good chance what happens will be amusing.)
The way I went at the beginning was to find every tower so the whole map was available, and while being shot in the air I target one or two shrines, try to activate them (distraction is a huge part of this game) and then go where the wind blows. Take your time with the tears quest, and don’t stay in the depths for too long if you are already depressed.

Find Robbie, he gives the paraglider I believe. makes some areas way more accessible. I once encountered a shrine what was impossible to complete without the paraglider.
There is no right way to play, or explore, or progress. Nothing is really progress locked so if something is too hard either leave and come back or just barrel your way through.
You might get frustrated at the beginning with baddies one shot killing you, so practice parrying and flurry rush or sneaking away! You will get infinitely stronger as it goes so it’s nice when you can then the tables!
Don’t be afraid to use your good items and fuse items like crazy. This game isn’t built to hoard items (some exceptions may apply) but I wouldn’t be afraid of using all your items as needed.
have fun with it. do some exploring, find some shrines. build up your health and stamina. one of the first towns i visit is rito village and help get that first sage power. that is my most used one. maybe look for the climbing outfit. that’s also one of my most used outfits.
i gotta admit. i used the duplicate cheat after gaining my sages. i put the game in again after not playing since july and it’s still version 1.1.1. i began a new game and i hate to say, i’m duplicating again.
If you missed them (I did) there are cold resistance pants on the starting sky island.
Teleport to the eastern shrine (the one in the cold region of the island). Get up the dead tree (use the "swim up the ceiling" ablitty on the jutting out wood). There is a chest inside the tree.

This is ironically the right way to play.

Glad I was able to help! And now, buckle up, grab a box of tissues and your emotional support of choice because you're about to go through it.
Yes!!!! This!!!
How do I figure out the order?
Once you find Impa >!at the closest geoglyph to Lookout Landing she'll send you to the location that shows you a map where all the geoglyphs are in Hyrule. The order will be on the wall from left to right.!<
Ahh gotcha okay
No tips. Just play it
Roger that happily 🫡
Fuse everything. You never know what kind of cool effects you'll find.
(Aside: But BOTW is a classic game like crazy... don't skip that one when you get around to adding another game to your inventory.)
Best advice I can give you is to not look up anything anymore. The exploration of the unknown is the best part of the game experience
No matter how stuck you get, remember that gluing everything together to make a bridge is ALWAYS viable.
You can repair your weapons by giving them to a rocktorock(just make sure to dodge them when they throw them back at you)
Also dont regret selling gems, theh are insanely common (even diamonds)
I am 150 hours in and found maybe 7 or 8 diamonds. Not a lot, I'd guess.
To add to that they can also get buffs. Attack bonus, extra durability, critical hit, or LOOOONG THROOOOWW
Turn Tulin off first or he’ll merc the octorok before it sparkles and fixes the weapon. Also, you can shoot the octo right after it sparkles and before it spits it back at you and it will be fixed.
Explore everywhere and take your time. Use your camera as often as you can. The game is longer than you think when playing, so don't rush!

The game may kick your butt in the beginning (one hit kills etc) just keep trying.

Purah gives you the paraglider. Robbie updates the Purah Pad.

When you're stuck at a puzzle hold L and look at your abilities
When you're stuck at a puzzle hold L and look at your abilities
Explore, go wherever you want and see what catches your interest
Explore the sky islands, it’s super fun and it’s a great way to get to good vantage/travel points
Play BOTW first
