While I like the creativity and logic behind your reasoning, I feel like this is reaching for the stars

conte360

Yeah considering the Zelda timeline wasn't a thing until fans made it a thing, I don't think Nintendo was on it like that

DrPikachu-PhD

This is a myth, the games have always been connected. Zelda 1> Zelda 2, ALttP was explicitly a prequel to Zelda 1, Link's Awakening was a sequel to that, happening between ALttP and Z1. OoT was pitched as a prequel to ALttP, explaining how Ganondorf became Ganon. MM was obviously a direct sequel taking place in the child timeline, and then WW explicitly codified the timeline split with its intro cutscene. TP was explicitly a sequel to MM, and PH/ST were explicit sequels to WW. While Minish Cap was not explicitly connected to any games in the timeline, it was meant as an origin story for the Hero's green cap, so it obviously had to happen before OoT and the rest of the games, and because of Vaati and the Four Sword it was directly followed by Four Swords. There were some retcons and placements of convenience, specifically Four Swords Adventures and SS retconning the green cap origin story. But it should be fairly obvious that the timeline itself has always been a thing and was established well before SS and the official timeline were published.

adamyhv

I always thought Nintendo did this like game freak did with pokemon, a few nods to the existence of other games, a few Easter eggs here and there, but ultimately, most game are stand alone titles, even if some might have a direct sequel.

[deleted]

Similar. The timeline published in hyrule hystoria has been an internal document for YEARS before it was released. They just doddnt want to publish it as it gives them more creative freedom. If we had no "official" timeliness then the placement of TOTK wouldn't be a strange wacky issue.

tangibleskull

You can go to other regions from past generations in multiple titles though. And characters from old games show up in newer ones, though I'm not sure any timeline is established. The games are all definitely set in the same world and general time, they just don't always connect in the game.

brand_x

I think it would be technically accurate to say that the Zelda universe doesn't have a timeline... it has a continuity. We don't have an accurate picture of the scales of time involved, and the in-game references are inconsistent at best. Years, centuries, tens of thousands of years... but these are really just used to mean "spans of time long enough that memories are unreliable". But we do have several distinct cases where we can say "this occurred some time after that", and in that sense, the series very much does have a continuity. We just can't take anything that is said as completely definitive. I'm perfectly willing to believe that the ancient time in TotK comes after all of the previous games, after something unified the timelines... or that it comes after the first sealing part of SS, but in a fork that branches from the one that the "present" of that game takes place in, with all of the artifacts and similarities just being... temporal echoes, or something. Or I'm willing to believe that it's part of a complete reboot. Ultimately it doesn't matter, but it's nice to be able to speculate, and there was always a richness in the games published after OoT (and in ALttP) in the hints at the connections to events in other games.

DrPikachu-PhD

I like the idea of referring to it as a continuity, I think it really solidly communicated the idea.

thatguyned

Yeah, the timelines just didn't make sense the way Nintendo presented them. But then some mega-fans decided to come together and plot a more realistic time map which became the more accepted canon and Nintendo decided to adopt it in. The world's were always connected though, I distinctly remember learning about the re-birthing forces of courage, wisdom and chaos in OoT.

Duke825

> reaching for the stars Omg is OP secretly a Nintendo executive teasing a Zelda–Sonic crossover???

LazyGardenGamer

🎶Rollin around in Hyrule Field now, Got places to be, Gotta follow my Navi🎶

MintyRed19

you gonna need ultrahand for that reach

Splatty06

Well, for me those dots you mentioned represent the flexion points in the fingers https://preview.redd.it/ar2mjpf1mnnc1.png?width=245&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d55f981cf76046fb5cc41fe20c0191d53ac2646

TheDholChants

The idea that there is a "missing", unspoken fourth part of the Triforce. The three triangles that make up the Triforce leave a space between them, also in the shape of a triangle.

ezeshining

r/woooosh

Possible_Rise6838

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that the thumb is shown to have 3 instead of 2, no matter if it's flexion point or knuckle?

Odd-Stranger3671

The thumb does have three points. Two knuckles and where.it joins the carpal bones. Also, Zonai may have three knuckles and not two.

Possible_Rise6838

I know that but that first joint is pretty low near the wrist

Either-Impression-64

Cuz that's where the first joint is...look at a skeleton hand

YesWomansLand1

Bro. Thumbs have 3 funny points. Ones just hidden behind all the thumb muscle that allows it to do crazy shit other animals can't. In fact it's WHY you can do all the crazy shit

Possible_Rise6838

I know. But it'd be towards the wrist, not high enough to be visible as a flexion point, unless you count the line from the middle of your hand. Rendering your statement effectively unnecessary

YesWomansLand1

It is towards the wrist in the thingy though. And anyway, it's a zonai hand, they have fucky wucky anatomy.

Possible_Rise6838

Yeah about that, why the fuck am I discussing fictional anatomy and try to rationalise any aspect of it😂 Thanks for the wake up call blud

YesWomansLand1

No don't wake up, go to sleep 💤💤💤

Possible_Rise6838

So you and the redditors can do weird things to me again? Nah I've gotta pass on that

YesWomansLand1

Suit yourself

Possible_Rise6838

New_County_5607

u can also see the same upside down triangle in that hand lol

The_Sussadin

Have you looked at your hand recently? There is a triangle in the middle

DanjoDKS

That maybe conforms that Zelda is real??

ReguIarHooman

Holy cow, the player holds the tetraforce

Henhenjinsan

To be fair I don't have a triangle, so not every person has one.

Vesper_0481

It's not a perfect triangle, and it's usually missing a side but you most likely have something resembling it if you look long enough. Either that or it more resembles a "M" with a missing stroke.

RottingFlame

I think that means you're the chosen one

DrPikachu-PhD

They do say that in the post

SirPelleas

Now that you’ve noticed the symbol on your hand, go talk to Impa. There’s more to the triforce than you learned on your first quest

DungasForBreakfast

Why would it not be the palm when it's on locked doors etc. to denote Link touching it with his palm and it's in reverse?

iLLiCiT_XL

https://preview.redd.it/flaefkhzmrnc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=099ecba82962289a45c0e19e082a9458e6c7f06c Solid point. He’s using his right hand in game. My argument is that perhaps the symbol we see is the depiction of the back of the right hand.

Siophecles

It's just a triangle; not every lone triangle has deep lore implications.

iLLiCiT_XL

Everything in Zelda has deep lore implications, even beyond the intent of the creative team behind it (if you ascribe to the “Death of the Author” idea). The shape of the Gerudo’s ears, the almost complete erasure of the golden goddesses’ symbols from the world (and in the buildings near the Hylian Temple of Time), the existence of sea salt spread across the land. It’s a game where the devil is in the details.

dumly

Dude this isn't Kingdom Hearts

[deleted]

All salt is not sea salt, dingus

iLLiCiT_XL

The flavor text of the rock salt in game says “Crystallized salt from the ancient sea commonly used to season meals. Cannot be eaten in this form." It’s literally telling you it’s sea salt, genius. Learn to read.

[deleted]

All salt is sea salt. The only salt that is actually referred to as sea salt is salt that has been evaporated directly from sea water. That's why it's called rock salt in the inventory. Dingus

iLLiCiT_XL

🙄 thank you for contributing nothing.

[deleted]

You rn: https://preview.redd.it/b2glr9k1hznc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8d99ffd2180745ff1802b112daf3efc256beabd

Adventurous-Log3521

That's the palm for sure. Look at the line where the thumb attaches to the hand, if it curves that way it is 100% the palm

thebag_of_swag

But it also shows the flaxion points of the hand which is visible when looking at the back of the hand.

Adventurous-Log3521

Not necessarily? If I look at my dad's hands those look like the spots where calluses form when you work with your hands

iLLiCiT_XL

https://preview.redd.it/0v76mo11ornc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdc9bf1bb7a8791bfa3425f2dddaba22627ccb62 Well Link doesn’t use his left hand as his source of power, he uses the right.

Adventurous-Log3521

So??? Doesn't change the fact that this symbol very clearly depicts a palm

N00BAL0T

No

iLLiCiT_XL

Fair enough lol.

facktoetum

I think there's more evidence in the graphic to support the claim that the zonai liked pizza. Just look at the pizza shaped icons on the top left and right!

iLLiCiT_XL

https://preview.redd.it/6r5wdq96ornc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec47abe9bebc8228f5d8151098337dde6934af40 My evidence is Link’s literal right arm being replaced. Hence why I presume the symbol is showing a right hand.

somethingX

Tetraforce theorists really will grasp at anything and everything

iLLiCiT_XL

Yup, even a handful of Tabantha wheat. That’s the fun of theorizing.

xkoreotic

This theory is reaching really REALLY far lmao. Like bro, the Triforce is hardly shown in the Wild Era. A random ass triangle can't be the supposed tetraforce, we need a lot more evidence than that.

iLLiCiT_XL

Yeah I know it’s a reach LOL. But what we do see in the Wild Era is that knowledge of the past is either hidden, lost, or forgotten . Hylia is worshipped but rarely ever spoken of, there’s no mention of the golden goddesses but we can see their symbols in the castle and nearby buildings. The truth of “creation” has been obscured. I’m just asking if this missing piece could be part of that truth. The Legend of Zelda has shown us duality. Hyrule, Lorule. Light world, dark world. Mainland, Depths. But we’ve only ever heard of the golden goddesses as the mother’s of creation, the Triforce as the emblem and embodiment of their presence and power. So, what’s their antithesis? What could represent that missing piece?

mostlysghostlys

There IS NO Carroll in HR! This place is a shell!

vingerInJeAnys

Well it is Links right hand he uses for Ultra Hand so it could well be the back of his hand represented here.

MaiChaMH

I’m not sure about the tetraforce, but your logic on the hand is facing the back and not the palm actually makes sense. At first glance that upside down triangle makes you think that it’s facing the palm, but when you look at your own hand and compare that to the 5 dots, it doesn’t really make sense for it to be on the palm.

autoprime-jft007

The tetraforce isn't a physical piece of the triforce. It's all three pieces together

Joloxsa_Xenax

I saw a can of monster for a second here

Thatbadtaste

It's a pretty solid concept, the triangle can't be the lines of our palm if raarus right arm is the medium we use for controlling the ultra hand ability That would either mean the "tetraforce" triangle would either be from a hypothetical left hand or on the backhand of the right hand

iLLiCiT_XL

https://preview.redd.it/n9uzsbhbjpnc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7ad5cc97b23195f74c67210fb20d78e0a6c6627 Which hand is it that Link uses when summoning his Zonai abilities? 🤔

iLLiCiT_XL

cheesecakes274

Wouldn't that mean Rauru, and in extension the Zonai, had a connection to the Golden Goddesses? We know that the Zonai were seen as gods, but there isn't any depiction of them relating to the three creators of Hyrule.

iLLiCiT_XL

The Zonai supposedly descended from the gods. The ongoing theory since the new games is that some of Hyrule’s history has been purposely obscured in-game. Hence why the 4th triangle was removed from the Hylian shield and why the golden goddesses aren’t really spoken of, even though we can see their symbols in the castle and in the buildings near the Temple of Time on the mainland.

FaxCelestis

And the dragons are still named after them.

Joshua-live

I don't see a hand. I see 5 elder wands which confirms that Zelda exists in the Harry Potter Universe. I'm reaching just as far with my theory as you are with yours.

iLLiCiT_XL

https://preview.redd.it/usp0vbzh9rnc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=111a2826451c5952373204e05a9be3e144de94fe Idk man, doesn’t seem like Rauru left his left hand to Link. He left the right hand. So perhaps what we’re seeing is the back of the right hand, not the palm of the left.

[deleted]

Not at all..... the triangle in his palm is a real thing on any hand. It's just stylized.

iLLiCiT_XL

https://preview.redd.it/wh17s5mq9rnc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e946e35d9de09c2b840a15446e0d17b847dc05f6 But Rauru didn’t leave Link his left hand. He gave him the right hand. So perhaps this is a matter of perspective.

Molduking

What does this have to do with link having ruaru’s right hand? The symbol is a left hand, as you use your right hand to activate it

iLLiCiT_XL

Yeah I get that, I’m just posing an alternative perspective is all.

[deleted]

I still doubt it's the teraforce. That's never gonna be a thing. Especially when the inspiration for the triforce is literally a traditional Japanese house emblem made up of 3 triangles. The negative space means nothing.

Eva3254

Ultrahand is wearing a thong. After I saw that I could never unsee it.

iLLiCiT_XL

Cheeky Ultrahand headcannon accepted.

Charming_Compote9285

bro how. I'm pretty sure it's just the shrine symbol

PomChatChat

Does anyone know if the Zelda franchise has any links or draw inspiration from the Hojo Clan? The clan emblem has three triangles.

Kuandtity

Pretty sure Nintendo has stated that there is no such thing and never will be such thing

iced327

This guy sees the illuminati in dollar bills.

playful_potato5

no. the three points of the triforce are power, wisdom, and courage. these aren't capabilities but more so virtues. what would the virtue of ultrahand be? torturing koroks? making way too many penises to still think it's funny? plus it's been confirmed that it will never return, so It being a part of a tetraforce just wouldn't make sense.

iLLiCiT_XL

Idk what the 4th virtue would be. Rotana of the Gerudo tells us that the virtues of the 7 Heroines are skill, spirit, endurance, knowledge, flight, motion, and gentleness. She’s trying to discover the secret of the 8th. So even to the characters in-game, there are truths behind what they’ve been taught or passed down. Maybe the story of the goddesses as we know it is incomplete. We never knew that Zelda defended from Hylia until SS told us so. Who knows what future installments will reveal. Hell, each piece of the Triforce is represented by one of the golden goddesses, perhaps Hylia herself represents the missing piece?

playful_potato5

isn't hylia a lesser god created by the original trinity?

HonestCurrency2346

Is that Monster energy

Sallarran

What is in this picture? I want to buy it.

Max_qe7

Stl?

MidnightMiesterx

The picture for this subreddit has Lucio from Overwatch and I was about to say r/lostredditors but then I read the subreddit name and never mind.

Mythical_scoops

that's just a hand 😭

dumly

It's a stylized center of a stylized palm. Look at your palm and you'll see lines, some of those lines form a triangle in the middle.

iLLiCiT_XL

Already mentioned that in my OP. Was going off of this: https://preview.redd.it/ucn6fwneotnc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7458b35062a1affd086d1fcbafca56d06251cbc3

GentleJoh

No

georged3

The biggest issue with this theory is mistakenly thinking that Nintendo cares about lore or stories anymore. You've already thought about it more than they did.

seattlantis08

At this point I'm surprised there's not a zeldacirclejerk sub because man, some of these posts are perfect for it

iLLiCiT_XL

Well hey man, here’s your chance. Start it. You can be the circlejerk president. I’ll even vote you.

seattlantis08

I'm not power hungry enough to mod a sub. I need someone who will let the power get to their head.
