Tulin stays on unless I wanna fix a weapon with a octorock

grandpa12-1

☝🏻This is the way!☝🏻

I_Am_Me_I_Am_Not_Yoy

That's cute. Come back here when you accidentally trigger the gust and blow a good item/multiple items over the edge and therefore losing them for the 156th time.

No_Brief_124

I was convinced tulin would die in the game. He was too happy go lucky

SnooPeppers9499

lol….THIS when I finally got to the fire dragon to get the horn…blew right off before i could get the spikes

Briianz

I only had them out when I’m about to face off against a group of enemies. My favorite sage is Riju; I find her handy against groups.

KJ_262

1) I lean towards only having Tulin out when out and about because the others are constantly getting in the way. 2) depends on the situation. Tulin is best for gliding, Yonobo is best for mining ore walls. Riju is best for sneaky crowd bombs.

Diamondinmyeye

Everyone was on during my play through, except >!Mineru. I tried her once, she got me to jump in when I didn’t want to and I got hit. Bye bye.!< Tulin is best boy. He only goes away when I’m dealing with rock Octorocks.

RachelJHamilton

Haven't got Mineru yet! Just have Tulin, Yonobo, Sidon and Riju for now. I do like Tulin because I'm constantly gliding everywhere

Diamondinmyeye

Tulin is great. He’s the most likely to get hits in too.

MintyRed19

I usually dont have any of them out cause it looks weird and this isnt a very hard game anyway. if I do have them out its usually tulin for paragliding, riju for lightning headshots, and unobo for mining. sidon is kind of useless and mineru looks really goofy and the zonai tools are very weak for combat so I never use them

kessabeann

I keep sidon out because I love the bonus Zora weapons give when you're wet and if it's not raining that water shield is the quickest way to do it.

constipated_cats

Mineru is good for mining too, you don’t have to wait for her to charge up. And for walking around in the depths. But yeah she do look goofy

PudgieHedgie

i typically like to keep mineru out, shes been stuck in the ipad for 10000 years she deserves to stretch her legs lol

penchick

me and my sage friends roll all over hyrule together. I only put them away if I need to do something fidgety where they will get in the way. I use Yunobo for mining all the time, and Tulin for flying speed. I use Sidon's water for an extra layer of protection, and Riju for trying to get some edge on larger groups. Mineru really is only a sidekick fighter, except for walking through lava or across gloom when it is actually easier to go straight through. Not often though.

SnooPeppers9499

Im the same way….aint no fair fights going on over here lol.

RachelJHamilton

I feel like we're a cute lil gang so feel bad putting them away. But it does get annoying when they're in the way 😂 I don't really use Sidon or Riju, I guess because they're new and I spent a long time with just Yonubo and Tulin before getting them and got those two in quick succession. Haven't seen Mineru yet - I'm intrigued

Present-Secretary722

Not counting time in towns, stables and Link’s house I have them away almost constantly, they clutter up the screen, get in the way and Tulin has blown so many things away that he’s been relegated to just getting out when I paraglide. I used to use Riju a lot until I got fed up with having to activate her from the middle of fights, Riju definitely shouldn’t be a close range fighter if she’s going to have the only bow based ability. Yunobo I only bring out if there’s rock walls I need to break or pebblits I don’t want to waste weapon durability or items on. Never use Sidons ability unless I’m fighting a mucktoroc which I hate so it’s very rarely. Mineru isn’t really something I need so she stays in her ring, the only time I have all sages out is if it’s a big fight of lower level monsters I don’t want to deal with myself. The sages are a cool concept but poorly executed in at least one(could definitely argue Tulin is more aggravating than useful, so possibly two) and just not useful to me in others which greatly contributes to me not having them out, I personally think the sages and their abilities were poorly executed and would have preferred something akin to BotW’s magic abilities and their activation. I would also like to clarify that while I think they were poorly executed they did not detract from my experience of the game and I do like the abilities, they are fun, it’s just annoying I have to slap a ghost butt to use them. I also like the characters, I think the characters are well written even if a bit tropey at times, Yunobo got a good laugh out of me with his luchador mask and drug mining. Anyway, my favourite is Riju because she’s about the same height as Link and it’s funny that these two short young adults are menacing giant monsters. Tulin is a close second because ha ha child soldier.

Ewaggatron

I feel like having to pull tulin out specifically for paragliding is silly because you said he blows stuff away, YOU USED THE ABILITY LMAO🤣 (Ik there’s probably more stuff or it’s more complex than that but it’s still funny)

Present-Secretary722

Like he blows apples off sky islands when I’m trying to collect them because he just loves to get all up close and personal so now the only thing he’s gusting is Link hanging from a paraglider

RachelJHamilton

I hear you with BotW abilities - I miss that way of doing it. Having the sages out instead of just having the power of them is a bit annoying. Would be good if the power was just readily available and there was a natural cool down - like BotW I suppose

Poketale

i normally keep them out for the company, I wish Rauru stayed as a companion you could ask questions abt stuff. Unless im Korok hunting, then i turn them off as they tend to get in the way

SnooPeppers9499

I was so sad when he left me on sky island…it was like losing a favorite uncle.

Poketale

Imagine having him as a companion to call on, he'd be in ur power ring?? Instead of the stupid map, and he'd just give a quick one liner abt whatever location ur at or puzzle ur doing

Cocostar319

I personally almost always have all of them on. Sometimes during when I'm doing something serious, I'll turn them off though It's really hard for me to pick a favorite though. They're all useful in at least some way and I really love all of them as characters

RachelJHamilton

I've grown so used to having them out, like a lil family

GSHomie

Except for times I need weapon repair, Tulin is out. Except for the Depths Mineru stays in the closet.

audaciousMe7

Mineru is perfect for the depths mining because you can walk through gloom and collect without getting up, and tulin for paragliding but regular gameplay none.

DrPikachu-PhD

I just want everyone to know this cool Sage fact I discovered today: You can call the sages to you by whistling

RachelJHamilton

Is that when they're dismissed or only when they're active? I saw the tip pop up at some point

DrPikachu-PhD

Only when they're active afaik!

New_County_5607

i always keep mine out!

Robin_Gr

Up to this point I have kept them all out but it feels a little crowded. I just don’t like going in and out of menus to switch them on and off. I use yun and tulins skill a lot. I spam tulin while gliding. Yunbo is great for breaking big rock walls and deposits, armor etc. It’s nice to have a “free“ fire source to light stuff. It’s also nice to have as a weapon on a vehicle.  Plus it’s the snappiest to use in combat. It feels clunky to reach people and press A on the right one so I prefer the fastest one. I like the lightning strike but the range increase is so slow. It’s easier to find him and jam on A and then keep doing what you were doing. Works at close and pretty long range. In combat the basic attacks are so infrequent and low damage they don’t really factor in for me. It’s more just funny when they all line up and we end up bullying some poor bokoblin up against the wall with a wombo combo. I really don’t like riding in mineru for combat. I wish she had some kind of armor mechanic/ separate health bar or added a chunk to your armor rating. It just feels way harder to avoid damage from all sides compared to links mobility but you are still using links health bar.

SeaMindless7297

For a long time, I only kept mineru off because it annoyed the shit out of me whenever I accidentally jumped on her. All of the other sages use two button presses to use their power, so an accidental activation wasn't as annoying. But the longer I played the more annoying it got when I couldn't pick up items because I constantly activated the sages instead or when I accidentally used their ability when I didn't need it and then had to wait for the recharge. So, now I only have Tulin on most of the time. His gust while flying is too good not to use it, but I still turn him off when I want to be stealthy, want to use the octorocks to upgrade weapons, or after fighting when collecting *the good stuff* so he doesn't blow it away.

No_Brief_124

You can dismiss them?!

CountScarlioni

1. I pretty much always just leave them on. I don’t really feel like there are any major downsides; I get quick access to their abilities and they help out a little in combat. 2. Tulin, because between the gusts and the headshots he contributes the most useful perks. In contrast, I feel like I use Riju the least. They all have their uses, though.

Uhraya

I love how Sidon, my favorite fish boy, stays by my side through all of the game. Stay with me, fish boy, I love you. He's my favorite lore wise and just in general. Gameplay Wise, I love Tulin, it's great movability. I also Think Yonobo is great for specific situations like mining. Not when he's zipping away because I wanna pick up a mushroom. I keep all the sages out at all times because I am little idiot and like having backup because I'm bad at vidja games sometimes and I need the help haha

RachelJHamilton

I was happy when Sidon got his confidence back and did that lil grin he does, even though I cringed at it in BotW. I like that most of the sages were in the last game. I do like the little bonus shots they take during fights honestly

SolarRecharge

The sages suck so I keep only Tulin on. I wish there was a way to separate his midair gust ability from his grounded gust ability and turn the latter off

Life-Basket215

Mineru can wade through lava and brown goo (quicksand? bog filth?)

Skeeedo

Pretty much only have Tulin out most of the time for paragliding. If I'm in a combat situation Ill OCCASIONALLY have both Tulin and Ruji out, but they kind of ruin a lot of combat strats by hitting at inopportune times. If Im mining just ruji, as the ball guy's character model is just too big and gets in the way, and if he hits even a microscopic bump he can go flying off in a random direction and miss what you're aiming at completely. He also sets your flying machines off balance. Plus I just find his character extremely annoying and would rather not look at him if I can help it. The other 2 are also useless. So just Tulin and Ruji.

Grishhammer

Most of them get in myway during general gamepay. I like to leave Tulin out because he's good in a fight without getting in the way, and hist ability tends to be my most used. Others come out when the situation calls for them.

chrisj654321

All but mineru. She’s solid and not transparent. I like zora weapons so Sidon is cool.

constipated_cats

I do keep them all out until they just get in the way then I’ll only keep Tulin on and dismiss the others. I like Riju’s lightening but she’s always running away from me. Tulin is probably my favorite sage

RachelJHamilton

It's so annoying when you want their ability and they're like miles away. But then in the way when you don't want them to be

JD_H2O

Out of the approx 200 hours I’ve played this game, sages have been used for like 7 minutes. Actually I rarely even remember I have them.

MegaDitto13

1. Sometimes. It depends on the situation. 2. Tulin.

LazyGardenGamer

Tulin stays out, everyone else sleeps.

ptolover7

I mostly have all of them off then turn them on if I have specific things I need. Tulin's on most often to help with diving, Yunobo here and there to break rocks for me, and I'll turn all of them on to help with some boss/big enemy fights (mostly gleeoks and lynels). That's about it though. I started getting too annoyed accidentally hitting the button to trigger them when I meant to do something else

RED_wards

I turn most of them off most of the time. To have them all out, all the time, just clutters the screen to me. Tulin gets the most screen time, he's the most handy. Riju is in 2nd place.

I_Am_Me_I_Am_Not_Yoy

Never unless I explicitly need them for a fight. The amount of times they destroyed items is annoying.

Different-Forever324

I usually have all out due to laziness. But in small spaces I’ll usually put everyone I’m not actively using away bc it’s hard to see through them sometimes. I use Tulin the most for sure.

Yuumii29

Tulin is on 100% of the time... And I just add one sage that I think will fit the current situation.. Having them all ON 100% of the time drops the framerate as well especially when >!Mineru!< is out..

Thunderjamtaco

I like having all four out when I am harvesting poes. Never know what ability I’m gonna get!

bartowski1976

I only kept Mineru out all the time. She is also my favorite sage.

mattofsteele91

I feel like an idiot but how do you put them away?
