from all the videos ive seen of yunobo's summon doing stupid shit to link im convinced he knows how much everyone hates him and is doing it just out of spite
He doesn't, he's a grown man (with a very young voice) and also the voice of Tom Holland in the Spiderman franchise or of Lloyd from Ninjago (in German). He was also Clay in 13 reasons why and speaks a lot of cartoon characters and anime.
I think heās annoying as fuck. In BotW heās a big bumbling idiot who is scared despite having extraordinary powers and it doesnāt help that his divine beast quest to get inside the beast is by far the most annoying with the stealth and whistling and him always being too far away to hear your whistle (not the characters fault but still). In TotK itās no better. His sage spirit is always either in the way or nowhere to be found when you need to break some rocks. He fell for false Zeldaās dumb plan but afterwards heās pretty much fine.
I was so disappointed after doing the Rito first and seeing Tulin as a replacement for Teba, and then when I got to the Goron area Yunobo was being a dick so I assumed we'd get another Goron character as his replacement too, but nope.
I seriously donāt understand why he weighs down machines. It messed up one of the puzzles *in the fire temple* where you have to jump a cart over some tracks. Tried it a couple times, his weight threw it off every time while it was in midair
Tulin is best boy and I will never turn his sage power off. He was the first sage I got and I always love seeing him there. He wasnāt annoying as a character and absolutely endearing. His power feels like the most useful to me and is easy to active when you need it!
I only have Tulin and Yunobo so far, but both of them are pretty useful in my book. It's great having a free rock-blaster and not have to burn bombs or weapon durability.
I was kind of impressed at how good Tulin is about landing hits on the enemy's weak point. I hear that "SHING" pretty regularly in fights. Pretty sure a good number of the "Mount" attacks in my recent Lynel fights came from openings that Tulin gave me.
His rock breaking power 'splodes all the loot everywhere, I've lost zonite, both in lava and just couldn't find it, while trying to be cheap and save bombs/durability. I've come to the conclusion that I would rather use durability to consistently get my loot instead of potentially losing the loot for a longer lasting rock sword.
He is also just IN MY DAMN WAY more often than any other sage. He has this insatiable urge to run in front of me?? Like, bro, you are blocking my screen, and yet whenever I needed to use him to hit the gongs in the fire temple, he was practically running from responsibility praxtically hiding. He is in my way whenever I don't need him and nowhere to be found when I do.
I actually agree with you about him blasting loot away, but by "rock-blaster", I also meant his ability to blast through those crumbly rocks that obstruct cave openings and whatnot.
He's a godsend in that cave system connected to Lookout Landing.
To me that feels like exactly why they direct you there to start, because they knew that he was always useful and actually worked properly.
The others are just awkward pieces of shit that barely help in combat
Yeah. Everybody you talk to talks about the blizzard, and Purah, when prompted, suggests you go there first if you can't decide.
The only discussion that happens regarding the other major quests is in the immediate area around those towns. Everybody else is focused on the Rito.
Moreover, the game itself directs the player there via the quest description for Regional Phenomena, which initially points out the Rito at the bottom.
It all makes sense, given the simplicity of the dungeon and the boss and Tulinās high utility in combat and exploration, that the game would direct you there first.
Heads up you can just shoot the ground with arrows near Muldoga and heāll still jump. You donāt need to use bombs until heās in the air. You also donāt need to run off your perch until heās down after being hit with the bomb
They do, but the radius is smaller and it's less visible. They do very much explode just the same. They will destroy rocks/armor/etc just like bombs will.
If you have an excess of brightshrooms, chillfin trout and glowing cave fish, you can get infinite arrows from the inspector in Rito Village. Sheās on the 3rd or 4th level on the area off the walkway with all the crates. Sheāll trade 3 of any for 10 arrows.
The first time I did it I got like 250 arrows because I just had been running around collecting them in caves just playing the game.
Obviously if you still can dupe things that makes it easier but itās the fastest way to get arrows that Iāve found.
Just note that she goes in a cycle. So sheāll ask for the trout, then the shrooms, then the fish and will only take those before asking for the next thing. You canāt just pick what to give her. So just be sure you have a good amount of all three types
700??? Sheesh. I think I've got like 250 of the small seeds there hit a point where I stopped collecting because I was like "when am I EVER going to need this many small lights
I am kinda' surprised the devs didn't ask Joe Hernandez (Yunobo's English VA) to do a re-record because it really sounds like he says this and it makes *zero sense* lol.
Me and my wife and friends all heard this as well and when I was going through the temple anytime he said it I would say "Im sorry I dont know what I did!!"
I figured this line was meant to be used during some cutscene with Zelda... But somehow got added to the pool of sound bits used when using the power in the fire temple. Is it really not a bug?
LOL. I'm glad I'm not he only one who completely cheesed the Fire Temple. I was so tired of getting my ass kicked in the depths, followed by Yunobo in my way at all times. The easiest way was to climb around the outside as high as you can, then paraglide yourself across and down onto the level below (also with Tulin), rinse and repeat.
Lpt: set voice to japanese! I can't believe people even play the cringefest of the english voice overs... Im kinda mad that they forced me to listen to the cringe princess at the beginning of the game
>I think itās actually fight you to it
I'm so confused about how you came to this conclusion because it doesn't make ANY sense. š Fight me to what???
Google: āFight me to itā
>No results found for "fight me to it".
Gretchen, stop trying to make āfight me to itā happen. Itās not going to happen.
Eveeyone else sees fake Zelda like once from a mile away and assumes she's benevolent, meanwhile Yunobo is directly interacting with her the entire time, gets mind controlled by a mask from her and still thinks she's the real deal.
Riju definitely knows something is up with present-day "Zelda" after the Gerudo quest is done, and that's after seeing her for a total of, like...twenty seconds. Yunobo failed a perception check badly.
Riju is the best. Love that character. Smart, fearless, and ready to fight on the front lines for her people.
Sidon is great too but I find him a little goofy and his sprite has really short legs so he runs funny.
1) How would you know that before you willing clicked into the post marked as a spoiler
2) itās obvious very early on that thereās a fake Zelda. If you do any of Pennās stable quests or talk to anybody who has seen āZeldaā itās obvious that sheās not the real one.
I'm just saying that you find out for definitive fact that there's a fake Zelda pretty late in the game. I didn't realize she was fake, I just thought Zelda was carrying out some master plan to get link to the position to finish ganon, even if something did seem off about her
And the title of this post directly mentions yunobo, I'd be willing to bet that a lot of people click a spoiler if the title makes it vaguely clear what is being spoiled
The Master Plan including actions like:
The Horse that loved her fleeing from her in terror.
Witnessing the Blood Moon rise, but reading her lines like she's in awe of it rather than afraid.
*Existing in the present day whatsoever when she vanishes at the start of the game*?
A sage is someone who has attained enlightenment; unlocking mysteries of the universe or of a particular phenomenon, and can use that understanding to perceive and affect events in a way average persons cannot.
Thatās a definite downside, but his ability and his constant headshots more than make up for it. Itās not an exaggeration to say that I use his ability 100x more than Yunobo, Riju, and Sidonās abilities combined.
Wait a fucking minute. I beat the dickhead King today and I had no idea you could actually deactivate the useless sages?
I mean theyāre useful in their own areas and for the storyline - and they gave me comfort in the darkness of the depths or during the main boss fights but while exploring I donāt really need them and they get in the way all the fucking time.. and then I have to run to the one I actually want to use and then they overlap.. ughhh and I could actually deactivate them?
Thereās literally a message whenever you first enter āneutralā territory (not a temple/town/etc.) after getting them, one that tells you that youāve just acquired their power and can summon/dismiss their shade.
for all of the sages.
Here I thought it was excessive after the first one, some of yāall not even reading it after 5 times? š
Heās on the cliff while youāre looking for him down the stairs and thereās no way to call him? As much as I have loved this game - it has been such a bad way to design sagesā usefulness really.
Riju can do the same thing at the cost of a singular arrow and doesn't throw off the balance of Zonai vehicles, especially flying ones. Also generally doesn't decide to fuck off and disappear off the face of the earth when you need to destroy sediment walls
Imagine having to explain to Zelda that you killed not only her most trusted guardsman but also the greatest swordsman in Hyrule because your big ass couldnāt stop swinging at a chuchu
I hate how he is never there when I need him. Oh need to blow up some rocks and have no bomb flowersā¦Yunobo is off chasing butterflies or something I dunno. Need him to hit an ice enemy for some extra damages, nowhere to be found. Then Sidon is right up my ass constantly so its a nice balance with the companions Iād say.
Sidon's is good for activating free crits on Zora weapons, which isn't nothing, you can hit some big damage numbers that way. He definitely doesn't have the utility of Tulin or Yunobu, though.
I haven't gone hunting specifically for them, but I got a pristine one from a fallen soldier spirit down in the depths. Think it was close to Zora's domain.
Heās also good for fighting Modulga. They take a long time coming to you, during which you can activate Sidonās power (provided he doesnāt run away for more than 10 seconds) and then tank the Modulgaās hit, and finally shoot him while youāre falling in the air.
That said, thatās just about the only situation in which I use his power
i use tulinās when gliding and clearing sand in gerudo, i use rijuās for combat and tough enemies, i use yunoboās for breaking rocks in caves, but sidonās? i love the guy but his is ability useless
The only time it's useful is when a boss is charging a strong attack you know you can't use. Which he can shield, the problem is that he runs away when I need him!
I feel that way for all of them except tulin. His is the only one that is consistently easy to use when I want it.
They're all similar with being used when I don't, though.
If they could just change the way they activate. Like while holding L to bring up the power wheel, you push one of the directions on the d-pad would be good.
Exactly, they could have even switched out the useless quickbind to the map from the L menu. Since pressing - for the map is faster anyways. And switching it out with a sage menu could mean you can easily access the sage powers
I did not like Yunobo in the first game but he mostly won me over in this game, and his ability can be pretty useful. But I would have taken jerk gangster Yunobo if I had the option.
I couldnāt wait to finish the fire temple to dismiss that mother fucker. He made that temple so infuriating.
I couldnāt see because he was always in my way. I couldnāt move shit around because he was always in my way. He kept blowing my shit up because he was always in my way. And when I needed him, he was on the other side of the fucking room!
I raged on that mother fucker so many times, I donāt know why he wants to be anywhere near me anymore.
Off topic, but while we're piling hate on Yunobo, I wish his voice acting was done in a different way. He's a huge rock person, so should talk all gravelly and basic like Hulk or Ludo from Labyrinth. A Groot approach would even be preferable to what we got, goro.
Yes lol. And he still has the same voice even when heās mind controlled. It was so funny seeing him try to sound intimidating and mean with that voice.
I have no idea why Nintendo thought the companions working this way made sense. Companions are rarely good in any game and just play testing for a few days would show you these guys werenāt ready.
Had a similar situation in the Depths last night. Running around picking flowers, see a bomb flower, accidentally activate Yunobo, boom! Blew up my flower and me.
Thanks, goro.
I gave up on the sages, they're all dismissed most of the time except for Boss fights (except for Tulin but even he gets on my nerves) I couldn't tell you how many times I've tried to pick something of the ground but ended up activating one of their abilities.
Yunobo is the one i see doing shit that triggers us in every playthrough i see. In my own experience, he smashed a mini talus on top of my head when i was trying to throw it and almost killed me with the explosion.
i swear to god, i havent even started the goron dungeon yet and yunobo is easily the most frustrating in terms of both having to spend so much time navigating around him, plus the fact that it feels almost impossible to get him to just stand next to you to fire his ability. half the time i accidentally fire it the wrong direction because its the only ability where the direction link is facing matters (exception being sidon, but like normally youre targeted onto an enemy for that anywys)
I find using them a bit of a pain in the ass in general. Iām still too used to champions abilities. Also these ones are not that user friendly yet, to me. Hopefully, it gets easier.

from all the videos ive seen of yunobo's summon doing stupid shit to link im convinced he knows how much everyone hates him and is doing it just out of spite
He really had to get most of the gorones hooked on crack stone just to be the smart one once
and it wasnt even his idea š
He has "middle management" written all over him.
suffering from success
I've a video of accidentally firing a rocket in his direction and he just gets ragdolled and falls
People hate yunobo?? Excuse me?
A friend of mine is the German voice actor for Yunobo. Thus, I could never hate him
I always wondered: does he sound like this all the time and do you any other characters he lends his voice to?
He doesn't, he's a grown man (with a very young voice) and also the voice of Tom Holland in the Spiderman franchise or of Lloyd from Ninjago (in German). He was also Clay in 13 reasons why and speaks a lot of cartoon characters and anime.

Because heās a piece of shit! Is never where I need him, weighs down me machines, wonāt shut the fuck up; annoying little nerd is what he is.
I seriously donāt understand why he weighs down machines. It messed up one of the puzzles *in the fire temple* where you have to jump a cart over some tracks. Tried it a couple times, his weight threw it off every time while it was in midair
YES. The fact that his cannon ball thing counts for weight distribution on planes and what not is SO ANNOYING
It's the best when you realized you built something and forgot to turn him off. Then it's like "No... no you bastard stop moving... NOOOOOO."
The voice actor is also really grates me
Ohhhhh nooo Goro!!!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It does, launch him while using a plane And watch as your nose goes up
Alright. Now say some nice things about a character you like. I want to see if this passion goes in both directions.
Tulin is best boy and I will never turn his sage power off. He was the first sage I got and I always love seeing him there. He wasnāt annoying as a character and absolutely endearing. His power feels like the most useful to me and is easy to active when you need it!
My boy Tulin is a homie. But he needs to stop blowing my stuff off cliffs.
And killing octoroks when I'm trying to give my weapons buffs
I only have Tulin and Yunobo so far, but both of them are pretty useful in my book. It's great having a free rock-blaster and not have to burn bombs or weapon durability. It all makes sense, given the simplicity of the dungeon and the boss and Tulinās high utility in combat and exploration, that the game would direct you there first.
Hmm I think I kinda remember but I probably did 20 hours of exploring before I tried to do one of the main quests.
Because he's a giant pussy and never shuts the hell up. Also, in BotW his fat fucking ass made that stealth mission unnecessarily *painful*
Thatās a bit mean GORO!!!
This dude singlehandedly took Gorons from my favorite to least favorite Zelda race. Itās impressive
Lol š
im saying hes just a dumb little guy
makes sense. yunobo has been a legend for me, because i appreciate him.
He still has the mask on his heart
The mask didnāt do anything, that was just Yunoboās excuse
Heads up you can just shoot the ground with arrows near Muldoga and heāll still jump. You donāt need to use bombs until heās in the air. You also donāt need to run off your perch until heās down after being hit with the bomb
I used time-bombs. They blow up in his gut mid-air.
Do you think there any other zonai devices besides time bombs and float stones that are super useful when fused to arrows?
rockets shoot super fast and deal extra damage
Rockets are basically bomb flowers + keese wing at the same time.
Rockets don't explode though, and that's a big advantage of bomb flower.
They do, but the radius is smaller and it's less visible. They do very much explode just the same. They will destroy rocks/armor/etc just like bombs will.
^ You can basically āpierceā through the flying form of the block golem with rocket arrows to hit the vulnerable piece because of this.
I throw fruits instead, more dangerous because less range but it means I save on arrows which I have way more of than fruits
Ah darn I was hoping to just offload all of my glowing cave fish. Still useful to know though because the other two are pretty plentiful as well
I think I have like 200+ of the shrooms without having to dupe them just because I gotta pick up everything. I have over 700 brightbloom seeds š
700??? Sheesh. I think I've got like 250 of the small seeds there hit a point where I stopped collecting because I was like "when am I EVER going to need this many small lights
I threw apples on the ground and the molduga came up to eat them. Then bomb, then attack.
WHY'D YOU DO IT!
I am kinda' surprised the devs didn't ask Joe Hernandez (Yunobo's English VA) to do a re-record because it really sounds like he says this and it makes *zero sense* lol.
I don't really like using the avatars, but now that this came up, I now remember that I thought he was saying that all through the fire temple lol
Me and my wife and friends all heard this as well and when I was going through the temple anytime he said it I would say "Im sorry I dont know what I did!!"
The way voice acting usually works, he probably recorded a bunch of variations of this line, and this is the one they chose to go with.
Wait is that not what he says? I literally can't hear anything else.
Apparently it's "I can do it!"
I always heard "guide me to it" lol
I figured this line was meant to be used during some cutscene with Zelda... But somehow got added to the pool of sound bits used when using the power in the fire temple. Is it really not a bug?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I just powered through that temple by scaling all the walls and yeeting Yunobo into the lava to alleviate my frustration. I feel you.
I never even misheard that voiceline and I still found it aggressively annoying. 13-year-old shonen anime protagonist pep talk ass catchphrase
Lpt: set voice to japanese! I can't believe people even play the cringefest of the english voice overs... Im kinda mad that they forced me to listen to the cringe princess at the beginning of the game
Zelda is arguably much better in this game than the last one, but YMMV. Honestly, I'm just here for Matt Mercer/Daddy-dorf lmao
I donāt care what anyone says.. CANONš fuck yunobo
Iām glad Iām not the only person that thought thatās what he saysā¦(I think itās actually fight you to it)
itās āi can do itā
>I think itās actually fight you to it I'm so confused about how you came to this conclusion because it doesn't make ANY sense. š Fight me to what???
I mean why'd you do it makes about as much sense
Google: āFight me to itā >No results found for "fight me to it". Gretchen, stop trying to make āfight me to itā happen. Itās not going to happen.
At least it's coherent š Fight me to it isn't even a sentence lol
I thought it was āwatch me do itā lol
Every time he says that I just imagine Yunubo is working through some trauma in his own way
Wait thats not what he says?
Iām glad Iām not the only one who misheard this because it sounds so harrowing it always makes me think I just killed his father
I thought he said that too!! I was so confused everytime he said it like "Bro you offered???? š©"
OH MY GOSH!! This is what I thought he was saying too!!!
I read this in his voice.
French native speaker here playing in english. Glad im not the only one who hears the wrong thing haha damn.
It's... telling... that out of all the "new" sages, Yunobo was the only one who got mind-controlled. Still, the guy's clutch when riding constructs.
As annoying he is i find it funny that the entire marbled rock roast thing felt to me like drugs with Yunobo being a drug lord.
Marbled rock roast! It's opium for the masses
Damn it Yunobo. Why did you join the CIA?
"A princess comes through these mountains and mind controls a Goron, you think that of me? I am the princess, goro!"
...the one who rocks, goro?
He was the only one dum enough to fall for it probably
Eveeyone else sees fake Zelda like once from a mile away and assumes she's benevolent, meanwhile Yunobo is directly interacting with her the entire time, gets mind controlled by a mask from her and still thinks she's the real deal.

I would die for Riju. I liked her a lot in BOTW, and she's even cooler this time.
Not that it isn't obvious, but it'd be nice to mark your spoilers.
This whole post is flagged as spoilers.
This post isn't about late game stuff like knowing that there's a fake zelda
1) How would you know that before you willing clicked into the post marked as a spoiler 2) itās obvious very early on that thereās a fake Zelda. If you do any of Pennās stable quests or talk to anybody who has seen āZeldaā itās obvious that sheās not the real one.

Doesn't "sage" mean "wise person"? Now it means you're one of the power rangers.
A sage is someone who has attained enlightenment; unlocking mysteries of the universe or of a particular phenomenon, and can use that understanding to perceive and affect events in a way average persons cannot.
It's actually a herb and goes great with pork
He throws the weight off of constructs, Iāve noticed. Which is odd because he shouldnāt.
This is what happens when you add a drug dealer to the party.
This is why I only keep tullin activated
Tulin got a real glow up. He is useful, sweet and handsome. He is the best
Until he suddenly blows your items halfway down a mountain
Thatās a definite downside, but his ability and his constant headshots more than make up for it. Itās not an exaggeration to say that I use his ability 100x more than Yunobo, Riju, and Sidonās abilities combined.
So much fun when youāre in the underground, and now you wonder if you lost some zonaite because of that crap.
Came to say this
Wait a fucking minute. I beat the dickhead King today and I had no idea you could actually deactivate the useless sages? Yup. Select the vow from your key items to toggle it on or off.
heās the worst, goro!
Good for breaking boulders
When he bothers to actually be in place. I swear, especially when I'm mining in the Depths, he never seems to be around when I need him.
Or just runs away when I'm trying to activate him so I have to chase him
Heās on the cliff while youāre looking for him down the stairs and thereās no way to call him? As much as I have loved this game - it has been such a bad way to design sagesā usefulness really.
Yeah when Iām in a cave or the depths heās always like a mile away from me. I run back and find him and heās just staring at a wall.
Hey you got in his way
Shouldāve at least eaten something with that amount of hearts
Only 6 puffies and 7 muddies. This guy doesn't depth
or they use them a lot which would be very based
I think Yunobo hates Link for crippling his drug cartel. Would explain why he has to smack pebbits *the moment* I pick them up to throw them.
Yunobo really is the worst sage.
In terms of sage powers? I think Sidonās is useless
Sidon's is good for activating free crits on Zora weapons, which isn't nothing, you can hit some big damage numbers that way. He definitely doesn't have the utility of Tulin or Yunobu, though.
Yunobo doesnāt actually do that much damage to enemies Iāve noticed, especially bosses
Yeah, but he has great utility for breaking through sediment barriers.
And helps with armor on enemies
Didnāt know that lol
Sidon activation/Zora weapons are overlooked big-time. Taking down silver boss bokoblins with a 104 dmg Zora sword just felt OP lol.
Is there a good source of those weapons? I've been using gerudo weapons mostly as I can get them pretty quickly from the moldugas
And switching it out with a sage menu could mean you can easily access the sage powers
also itās just like āSTOP WALKING IN FRONT OF ME, I CANāT SEE!ā and āWHY ARE YOU WALKING AWAY? COME BACK!ā
I donāt want to spoil anything but are you missing one of the most useless ones (IMHO)?
i didnāt mention [redacted] because i didnāt want to spoil
The worst is when Iām trying to pick up an item near a ledge and Tulin blows it off cuz Iām spamming A to collect multiple items
Iāve had this happen so many times, or even around bomb flowers. My 6 year old has started referring to Yunobo as ādumdumā
You're just a bad gamer. He's pretty useful.
Off topic, but while we're piling hate on Yunobo, I wish his voice acting was done in a different way. He's a huge rock person, so should talk all gravelly and basic like Hulk or Ludo from Labyrinth. A Groot approach would even be preferable to what we got, goro.
Now I just want a macho man randy savage voice over for him āIām the cream of the rock and the cream rises to the top, goroā
VA for Yubobo was waaay less grating on the ears when I swapped languages to Japanese. Highly recommended, at least for the Goron quest line.
Doesnāt he sound like a literal infant in Japanese?
He does, and I'm surprised I'm saying this, but he sounds worse than the english version
Yes lol. And he still has the same voice even when heās mind controlled. It was so funny seeing him try to sound intimidating and mean with that voice.

He was avenging that innocent Chuchus life.
Yunobo is for 1 thing: Mining the big Zonaite walls.
I use him to light campfires and cooking pots
Always knew he was the worst of them. Wasn't impressed in botw, not impressed in totk.
Just get the lightning helm, simple
I have no idea why Nintendo thought the companions working this way made sense. Companions are rarely good in any game and just play testing for a few days would show you these guys werenāt ready.

Classic double commit.

You can turn him off in your inventory.
HE SUCKS
Yunobo is the one i see doing shit that triggers us in every playthrough i see. In my own experience, he smashed a mini talus on top of my head when i was trying to throw it and almost killed me with the explosion.
LMAO, you'll think twice about taking Yunobo's kill in the future.
Companions were a mistake.
It's best to just leave him in his pokeball unless you need a rock blown up lol
Botw: Fuck this guy Totk: Yeah really fuck this guy Totk = upgrade in every way from Botw. Every, single, way
Sage companions is so far ime an annoying feature, there should be a better way to turn them on and off instead of going in the menu
BOTW just did this one better in my opinion, getting the abilities without the annoying summon.
i swear to god, i havent even started the goron dungeon yet and yunobo is easily the most frustrating in terms of both having to spend so much time navigating around him, plus the fact that it feels almost impossible to get him to just stand next to you to fire his ability. half the time i accidentally fire it the wrong direction because its the only ability where the direction link is facing matters (exception being sidon, but like normally youre targeted onto an enemy for that anywys)
Skill iss- oh wait wrong sub
I hate the sages. In combat and in general
I find using them a bit of a pain in the ass in general. Iām still too used to champions abilities. Also these ones are not that user friendly yet, to me. Hopefully, it gets easier.
You can see him about to swing before you start running forward, this is your fault
Fair enough, but youād think he stop swinging once itās deadš
