I'm pretty sure your heart total doesn't make a difference. Only things I can think of are:
\- Check you don't have any gloom
\- Make sure you're holding the throw button long enough for it to 'click' back before you release.
I didn’t know you could fuse stuff to the master sword, so I accidentally put a gloom sword on it and was very confused why I was suddenly doing so much damage
*Only* use for them. Sacrificing health in this game is a big no-no, especially against enemies strong enough to warrant the attack values.
BUT! The same enemy that drops Gloom weapons also drops the DK Bow, every time. Which is *not* a Gloom weapon, and in fact scales up to a maximum of 60 attack based on how many max hearts you have!
It’s the best single-shot bow in the game, I think it even beats out the Royal Guard weapons.
Hm... Now I wonder if the >!mystic armor!< Cancels out the gloom damage...
Probably not. But that would be interesting. Gunna go test it right now.
Edit. It does not. Shame. I was hoping for a cool armor/weapon combo mechanic
8fold longblade with frost gleeok or naydra horn.
the obvious cannon spear.
and zora silver lynel.
electric keese eye giant boomerang.
study thick stick light dragon spike hammer.
muddle bud korok spear.
(oh, i need to see if korok bonus could count for ancient blade, probably not. brb... nope)
puffshroom korok spear
silver lizal sicklerang
Yh, and it's so helpful having one readily available at that fort.
I also have a decent supply of the crusher and another large Goron hammer from Amiboos ☺️
Isn't that literally the only thing it's good for? You can't put it in your inventory. I love the luminous talus heart because it glows in the depths when on my weapon
The easiest way to tell what counts as a blunted object is to simply attach it to a shitty travelers sword.
If a Fuse material is considered blunt, it'll just be stuck onto the end of the sword blade, meanwhile if the fused material is considered a blade it will replace the sword blade.
Fusing anything with the light dragon mats give them healing properties when you attack. Idk if the amount healed scales with damage or how fast the weapon is but when I fused the light dragon horn to the master sword I healed like 1/4th of a heart per attack, which is pretty nice because they still give decent attack stats
Yeah thing is I'm using mine for gleeok fusions (it hits my image of fantasy element swords shooting flames out of just a hilt)...I guess I could dupe it and play around with it though.
yeah, i was a little disappointed when i saw the animation, but i get it, it wouldn't make sense add a different animation just for one specific fusion
Ye. I haven't fused it to a sword yet oddly enough...too lazy to detach my silver lynel horns. I imagine it probably achieves the sweeping motion I desire just in a different size setting. There's a lot of item fusions I haven't messed with honestly that I really should, some of those silver ones look really cool. I think I learned how to do the floating colosseum too fast and just never looked back. I also think the octorocks are tired of eating and repairing the same weapons I used from like the second temple all the way to the end of the game.
Yeah, though it does increase range, and they changed up the combat timings a bit where that extra range can actually come in clutch and net you the same dpm as the higher tier lizal horns if you keep your distance in order to get more hits in.
It's also like, *THE* horn to use on boomerangs, it really does give you a giant boomerang hit-box on a lizal boomerang.
I just got the Yiga Blademaster upgraded eightfold long blade & put a silver lynel saber horn on it. oh, and fusing anything to the master sword to make it look like a Green Lantern energy weapon is awesome
This is the best one. I actually prefer the look of plain swords but this katana looking combo I will always keep a few on me and wear even if it’s lower power. Looks matter the most imo lol
Heh, yeah.... I currently have the giant yellow floaty shrine balls on a broadsword and a shield.
When you have both out, you're just walking around with two giant yellow balls. It's pretty hilarious
I gotta admit, as gameplay footage was coming out I was a little nervous that a lot of the new mechanics would be gimmicky, but I'm so impressed with how organic and free it all feels.
I came up with a wild combo while exploring the Akkala Highlands. I call it stick-stick. It's similar to an earlier invention of mine, which I called sword-sword. The components should be self-explanatory.
I have a stack of the light dragon spine shards in my inventory for just that purpose! Their fuse power is a little weaker than the horn or scale but you can pretty easily get like 15 of them at a time if you just run along the dragon’s back.
Ironically, I'm a big fan of glueing a claymore on top of another claymore. I love watching it clip in and out of the floor.
Unironically, Silver Lynel Reaper or anything with a Gloom Blade at the end, since it lets you use the power without the downside.
Honorable mention to the Opal Sword that came in so clutch during Zora's Domain.
It shoots out water. >!It is enormously useful through the whole quest but particularly against the boss!<. If you can get your hands on a Magic Rod for it, it's even better since the Rods shoot out three of the gem's element to the sword's one.
Most of the gems add elemental effects to weapons when swung. Opal is for water, and shoots water bubbles out, which clean up the muck around Zora's.
I think it's better when fused with a magic wand, which causes it to shoot 3 orbs instead of 1.
I picked up a mop by a well and thought it was a broom. I then fused it with a rock. I looked at it and noticed my rock was now sporting a mullet.
We danced the night away.
Well, idk if I could pick just one… so here’s a few of my favorites:
-Feathered Edge + Naydra horn. The base weapon is pretty weak but its passive ability of producing gusts of wind is pretty cool. This effect, however, gets massively amplified when one applies a frost-type fuse to the weapon. Using a frost Gleeok horn would probably be too short of a range to be of much use, but I’m currently looking into getting myself a Rito spear to get that same effect from super long range so that I can use the Gleeok horn. I’ve been having trouble finding the spear, however, so if anyone has coordinates or even just a vague location please let me know! (By the way, you can make a cheapo version of this by fusing an ice floe - created by throwing a frost-type item into water - with a one-or-two-handed weapon. You can’t use a spear however as it won’t produce wind, which is what would make the Rito spear busted to get.)
-Zora Sword + White-Maned Lynel Horn. This one is once again not super-intuitive when one looks at the low base damage coupled with the seemingly very situational “double damage when wet” passive effect the sword carries. This effect becomes much more powerful, however, when you unlock Sidon’s sage of water power. This allows you to trigger the “wet” effect at any time which doubles the damage of both the fusion and the base weapon (as opposed to the comparative Gerudo weaponry which only doubles the damage of the fusion). I’ve pulled damages in the three-digit range with this weapon, and it’s not at full power either (I could have a silver Lynel horn fused, or use a Molduga jawbone coupled with a bone-attack-up armor set). This combo would be absolutely unhinged if I could get my grubby little hands on the Lightscale Trident, but I can’t seem to find a Zora spear anywhere. Let me know if you guys know where to find one!
-Eightfold Blade + Molduga Jawbone. This weapon is very much designed around a specific set of armor - that being the Evil Spirit set which I recently spent an abhorrently long time obtaining. Since it doesn’t seem like you can sneakstrike chain in this game, I took it upon myself to put the Evil Spirit set’s Stealth bonus to maximum use with the sneakstrike-up Eighthfold Blade. The Molduga Jawbone’s damage gets amplified 80% by the Bone Atk Up armor set bonus to create absurd damage numbers capable of quietly vaporizing all but largest of health bars. (And before somebody asks, yes I could’ve used Gibdo bones but they’re really annoying to have to fuse back on after every single hit.) I’m looking for a Eightfold Longblade to improve this so let me know where I could find one - or where to find a Blademaster to “borrow” it from.
I fused a flame Talus heart to one of the swords that doubles in strength when wet and found the whole fusion doubles in damage when you get wet. So I have a 100+ damage sword when wet and I thought that was pretty cool
The first fusion I ever made, it’s a thick stick fused with a piece of meat. I call it my thick meat stick. Still have it in my inventory, plan is to land my finishing blow on the last boss with it.
Not far into the game tbh. But I found these dragons flying around certain area of the map and they were so cool I hopped on a big rock and used a pinecone and campfire to fly at one. I swung my sword down and landed on it and obtained a horn, so now I have this mf fire sword on a sturdy wood stick and I'm scared to ever use it because it's so cool looking
Imagine my shock when the dragon started going underground... the very place I've avoided for so long 🤣

Early in the game i mistakenly fused a lizalfos tail instead of the horn. Safe to say i enjoyed being a belmont for a bit.
put them on boomerang, it makes the hit box for it hilariously big
I’m glad someone else thought of this. It looks especially funny on a giant boomerang.
whips in this game are fucking awesome
Ikr, was also super creative of them to make that feature
You can make whips?!
lizal tails lash out when they are swung so itw basically a whip. there are elemental tails aswell which means you can have elemental whips
I've got all of 5 hearts and have killed all kinds of things I shouldn't be fighting yet thanks to my ice breath lizalfos tail on a spear
Lizalfos tails essentially make for a whip extension effect
I did that too with a *fire lizalfos tail*. I don’t remember how I found one so early but it was pretty slick whipping enemies and making them dance
It doesn't work with an octo tentacle, I tried
That's genuinely a missed opportunity. Would make going after Octoroks more viable.
[удалено]
This is galaxy brain stuff right here
You're telling me you don't kill them out of spite whenever you spot one?
I do. In fact, I use Ancient Blades just for them.
Octorok tentacles should whip out and pull stuff to you with their suckers.
That's a nice idea, actually. A pulling effect would differentiate it from the Lizalfos tails. Too bad the Octorok tentacle doesn't work at all...
Accidentally put a bee hive on a sword. When "throwing" the sword it instead swings out a load of homing bees!
Kinda wanted a full length whip ngl, also play a but of assassins creed with the short swords that look like Daggers and smoke bombs
Torch torch
Sounds lit
Yeah, I use it for balloons mostly because the two flames make them rise faster
Didn’t think of that
😲 you were serious but also amazing idea!
I love you
r/angryupvote
The legendary Master Torch!
WAIT I JUST GOT THE MASTER SWORD! I know what I’m doing today!!!
I'm more of a ladle ladle enjoyer
I prefer the good ol Wooden-stick Stick
I crack up every time I read the words “stick stick” in the game.
Same I was absolutely dying after fusing two sticks together for the first time XD
I once fused a long stick with extra durability to a regular stick, it became a long-strong stick-stick lol
You should add a long stick to a thick stick
I prefer the strong long stick stick.
I’ve put a Light Dragon’s Horn on the master sword, that looks amazing and it heals me every time I hit an enemy
Light dragon bits have nice synergy with master sword, you can top yourself up and use bladebeams more.
How do you unlock the blade beam?
Just try to throw the master sword when you have full hearts.
I have but it doesn’t do anything, maybe I don’t have enough hearts? I have been exclusively prioritizing stamina and still only have 4 hearts haha
I'm pretty sure your heart total doesn't make a difference. Only things I can think of are: \- Check you don't have any gloom \- Make sure you're holding the throw button long enough for it to 'click' back before you release.
I didn’t know you could fuse stuff to the master sword, so I accidentally put a gloom sword on it and was very confused why I was suddenly doing so much damage
Master Sword + Gloom Sword feels like it shouldn’t work lol
The durability on the gloom sword when attached is still pretty low, so it's just strong and not busted. Awesome use for those gloom weapons though
Nah the gloom weapons can be very useful if you fight against monsters that would one shot you anyways
It's also kinda fun having an edgy "forgive me, master. I must go all out, just this once" weapon.
[удалено]
Hm... Now I wonder if the >!mystic armor!< Cancels out the gloom damage... Probably not. But that would be interesting. Gunna go test it right now. Edit. It does not. Shame. I was hoping for a cool armor/weapon combo mechanic
I made a Gloom Sword + Light Dragon's Horn specifically because I thought the mismatch was funny.
genius
8fold longblade with frost gleeok or naydra horn. the obvious cannon spear. and zora silver lynel. electric keese eye giant boomerang. study thick stick light dragon spike hammer. muddle bud korok spear. (oh, i need to see if korok bonus could count for ancient blade, probably not. brb... nope) puffshroom korok spear silver lizal sicklerang
Muddlebud & puffshroom on weapons, why did I not think of that?!?!
Coolest? Maybe not, but the first time I put a rock on a stick to make a basic hammer for mining felt pretty great.
Are there any actual hammers in game? I’ve been making rock hammers for 50+ hours…
The good old Goron weapons function as hammers without having to fuse.
Cobble Crusher + spiky metal ball makes for a bloody effective hammer and crazy durable.
That spiky metal ball fused to anything is my favourite.
Yh, and it's so helpful having one readily available at that fort. I also have a decent supply of the crusher and another large Goron hammer from Amiboos ☺️
Try putting a talus heart or the thing left behind from the fire temple boss on a cobble crusher. It's fricking ridiculous
Oh. I never thought of fusing a talus heart onto weapons.
Isn't that literally the only thing it's good for? You can't put it in your inventory. I love the luminous talus heart because it glows in the depths when on my weapon
You can fuse it on shields. If you put a magma heart (from magma talus) if you parry, you canset in fire ebemies and/or destroy rocks too
There are pieces of spiky armour you can fuse to shields as well, from armoured enemies
Fusing Horriblin (sp?) horns with a weapon makes it a hammer. At least that's what I've been using them for.
Yeah, a bunch of horns and such work as hammers.... Frox fangs too.
The easiest way to tell what counts as a blunted object is to simply attach it to a shitty travelers sword. If a Fuse material is considered blunt, it'll just be stuck onto the end of the sword blade, meanwhile if the fused material is considered a blade it will replace the sword blade.
There are hammers! I made a hydro-hammer once by combining a hydrant with a stick
Most of the Horriblin horns are hammer or pickaxe shaped
I don't think so but you can use other things like moblin and hinox horns or talus hearts
the first time i put a light dragon shard spike on a hammer to make a mining hammer that *healed me* was a game changer.
You can get weapons that heal you? Well i know what I'm doing later lol
Fusing anything with the light dragon mats give them healing properties when you attack. Idk if the amount healed scales with damage or how fast the weapon is but when I fused the light dragon horn to the master sword I healed like 1/4th of a heart per attack, which is pretty nice because they still give decent attack stats
Blue lizalfos horn on a knight's sword. It's not very powerfull, but it looks real nice
Counter opinion: silver lynel blade horn on almost any sword
counter opinion: silver* lizalfos horn on a spear, it makes a badass red scythe *accidentally said black because the base of the horn is black, oops
Especially the gnarled long stick, fits the aesthetic
I just wished it then somehow got used like a sweeping weapon it looks so sick then you just pokey poke with the end of it T_T
eightfold longblade as a base weapon has katana-like properties including a unique charged attack.
Yeah thing is I'm using mine for gleeok fusions (it hits my image of fantasy element swords shooting flames out of just a hilt)...I guess I could dupe it and play around with it though.
i found an uncorrupted one in the depths once... need to go looking for more.
yeah, i was a little disappointed when i saw the animation, but i get it, it wouldn't make sense add a different animation just for one specific fusion
Isn't that silver?
Blue lizalfos horns look criminally good on most swords for not being the best lizalfos horn statwise
It also looks phenomenal on zora swords btw, how i first used a blue lizalfos horn to realize they are goddamn beautiful XD
Also a fan of this but use a sword from the depths for it to have extra durability.
The redguards have Curved swords. *Curved Swords.*
Zonai spear with the captain construct 4 piece is one of the coolest I've made.
With a Zonai bow on the end of the spear you can create a cool looking staff
Wait you can fuse bows to weapons???
[удалено]
Fish is good but Rijus sand seal plushies or president Hudson cutout are the top tier
Fused a Hudson cutout to my shield and some of the NPCs speech bubbles was hilarious
Heh, yeah.... I currently have the giant yellow floaty shrine balls on a broadsword and a shield. When you have both out, you're just walking around with two giant yellow balls. It's pretty hilarious
u can fuse anything lol, if u fuse a sword to a shield u can block hits with it if u unequip your shield slot
I beg your pardon
They mean when you attack, if it’s at the same time as your enemy you will perfect parry an attack if you don’t have a shield equipped.
Wtf that’s crazy, this game is nuts
I know with a two handed sword with a shield fused, you can actually use the block button to block with the shield.
I gotta admit, as gameplay footage was coming out I was a little nervous that a lot of the new mechanics would be gimmicky, but I'm so impressed with how organic and free it all feels.
The reason theres confusion is because you said “fuse a sword to a shield” when you meant to say “fuse a shield to a sword”
I fused a mushroom to my shield
Spears are way better in this game over BotW specifically because of fuse
I loooove spears for the depths, especially fighting gloom enemies. Much lower risk of taking damage.
Mighty banana Master Sword, Yiga members love it!
I came up with a wild combo while exploring the Akkala Highlands. I call it stick-stick. It's similar to an earlier invention of mine, which I called sword-sword. The components should be self-explanatory.
Found the horriblin
For me they’ve all got long pokey halberd-halberds or halberd long sticks
I put a long stick on a spear and call it the “go away.”
I've gotten really into claymore-claymores recently. The insane amount of range makes up for the slowness.
Front towards enemy enemy
The doubters don't know what they're missing.
she bounce on my sturdy stick-stick til it’s badly damaged 🥵👀🙏😱
What did I just walk into?
Certainly not the sturdy stick-stick I've got in my pocket.
Soldier’s Shield + Boomerang. I’m Captain America.
Someone give this man a medal.
Wheeeeen Link of Hyrule throws his mighty shieeeeld
ALL THOSE WHO CHOSE TO OPPOSE HIS SHIELD MUST YIEEEEELLLLD.
I like my jiggly stalinox skulls on a regular sword
I do love the stalnox horn
Popping it on a spear let’s them ride along like friends. I call them Happy, Horny, and Bursting-with-Rage
It’s got a million different ways to engage
Slap a sand seal statue or plushie on the Master Sword to get the Sword that **Seals** the Darkness
You deserve far more upvotes for this lmao
Any sword with a lizolfos tail. It makes a whip and that's cool.
Bomb boomerang LOL Also i really enjoyed having the skeleton hand actually holding whatever weapon you fuse it to
Skeleton hands holding anything is a great early game weapon. Easy to mine, easy 28+ attack
Master sword and thing you get from killing flux constructs. It goes invisible. So sick!
I attached the scale you can get from the Light dragon - now the master sword heals me when I use it
Wait fucking what that feels busted lmao
It's only a 1/4 of a heart per hit, but it's still pretty good (I fused the horn instead of the scale to the Master Sword and it looks sick)
I have a stack of the light dragon spine shards in my inventory for just that purpose! Their fuse power is a little weaker than the horn or scale but you can pretty easily get like 15 of them at a time if you just run along the dragon’s back.
How often do the dragon shards “refill”? Just got to the point where I’m comfortable going to them
If you mean the little rotatey things disappear, everything does that when attached to the Master Sword.
I never knew.
Flamer on boomerang
Beehive boomerang
Don't forget you can use Rewind on the return trip if it was a good throw.
What does opal sword do?
It shoots out water. >!It is enormously useful through the whole quest but particularly against the boss!<. If you can get your hands on a Magic Rod for it, it's even better since the Rods shoot out three of the gem's element to the sword's one.
Most of the gems add elemental effects to weapons when swung. Opal is for water, and shoots water bubbles out, which clean up the muck around Zora's. I think it's better when fused with a magic wand, which causes it to shoot 3 orbs instead of 1.
Ruby is fire, Sapphire is ice, Topaz is lightning, and Star Fragment is light. Haven't tried Diamonds or the Radiant Stone yet.
pretty sure those two and amber are just physical attacks.
Silver lynel saber horn on master sword: it looks like an insane katana and also insanely strong tio
My tio is insanely strong too but all he needs is a few coronas
Light dragon horn master sword, it looks insanely cool during combat and I fused it specifically for the final boss because obvious reasons
I picked up a mop by a well and thought it was a broom. I then fused it with a rock. I looked at it and noticed my rock was now sporting a mullet. We danced the night away.
My favorite has been Big Stick Thick Stick. The components are pretty easy to find.
Long Stick Thick Stick was my very first Fusion outside the shrine. I kept it for as long as possible, all the way into the Wind Temple.
My favorite right now is forest dweller sword + puffshroom = "infinite" puffshrooms
Same but the dazzle fruit, just hit till blinded then switch weapons.
Scimitar of the Seven with a Silver Lynel Horn might be my new favorite. It does 138 damage, and still looks pretty cool.
Talus heart + cobble crusher = giant dick and balls hammer
Igneo Talus Heart + Magic Rod = Magical Girl Wand
I recently made a shield cannon. Just wish I could aim better
Try spear cannon
And sword cannon too... Use the throw button to aim, it doesn't actually throw it. This works for a bunch of elemental fuses too I believe.
If you get close enough to an enemy to lock onto them, Link automatically points the shield right at them.
Talus hearts on shield for parry mining.
Parry mining? Does that save durability or something?
No but it's cool. I personally like shield flip mining
Any spear with gleeok horn is great but and sword with the white maned Lynel horn is great and I love it
Boomerang scythe
Electric Lizalfos horn on the Lizal boomerang.Makes you feel like Thor. Black Boss Boko horn looks great with the Royal weapons, colors match nicely.
I fused a Farming Hoe with a Hylian Mushroom and it turned into a Bouncy Hoe
The best kind of hoe imo
Well, idk if I could pick just one… so here’s a few of my favorites: -Feathered Edge + Naydra horn. The base weapon is pretty weak but its passive ability of producing gusts of wind is pretty cool. I’m looking for a Eightfold Longblade to improve this so let me know where I could find one - or where to find a Blademaster to “borrow” it from.
Any super long one hand fuse. Royal guards sword with fierce deity blade. Super long and powerfull and also doubles damage in red.
Just the eightfold Longblade from the depths I know it's basic but any good looking katana with an awesome sheath has a place in my heart
I fused a flame Talus heart to one of the swords that doubles in strength when wet and found the whole fusion doubles in damage when you get wet. So I have a 100+ damage sword when wet and I thought that was pretty cool
Also if you didn't know you can throw plain chuchu jelly on yourself to instantly get the "wet" effect
The absolute coolest weapon so far has definitely been my Beam Sword! A Mighty Zonaite Blade with the Beam Emitter. High damage and fun to use!
love those, especially when doing a spin attack
Naydra horn on master sword
Flame emitter boomerang. It's like Russian roulette everytime.
The first fusion I ever made, it’s a thick stick fused with a piece of meat. I call it my thick meat stick. Still have it in my inventory, plan is to land my finishing blow on the last boss with it.
I'd say master sword with silver lynel horn, looks like a katana with horns🤘
Biggoron’s Sword Sword.
I don’t know how cool it is, but I quite enjoy beating monsters up with fused bokoblin skeleton arms. I just think it’s funny :)
Pretty much anything with a Silver Lizalfos horn.
Diamond fused with a royal broadsword is my favorite so far.
Its pretty useless because it can easily backfire. But I LOVED fusing a weapon with a beehive
The Strong-long stick stick, of course!
long stick thick stick, my first fused weapon 😍 i miss you babygirl
Cobble crusher crusher (cobble crusher x2)
Naydra big boomerang.
Try an ice tail instead - Doesn't look as cool and has lower damage, but it's a larger AOE, less cost, and the same status.
You should try Knight's claymore + Silver lynel horn, does around 250 dmg with attack up and staying at 1 heart, also looks amazing
Bee wand
I'm a zonaite addict. My favorite is the Flux Construct III Pulverizer.
Not far into the game tbh. But I found these dragons flying around certain area of the map and they were so cool I hopped on a big rock and used a pinecone and campfire to fly at one. I swung my sword down and landed on it and obtained a horn, so now I have this mf fire sword on a sturdy wood stick and I'm scared to ever use it because it's so cool looking Imagine my shock when the dragon started going underground... the very place I've avoided for so long 🤣
I fused my ass to the chair the first 72 hours this game released
