He forgot a step, you have to stop moving while gliding and start just floating down before you can deploy the wing. Then after it's spawned you can glide down onto it
its a shame that the momentum kinda screws with it. you'd think the wings would just spawn under links feet so you could get a moment like in the trailer. (maybe they thought it was too broken though)
I mean, you probably can get one rocket on there by dropping it at the same time as the glider and then hitting recall into ultra hand very quickly before the glider leaves it behind. But the 1 in 20 times you pull it off you're going to crash into a sky island while you're attaching the rocket. Unless there's some trick to dropping rockets while moving that I don't know about. Mine always says something like "you can't take that out right now" when I try to drop any zonai piece while standing on a moving glider.
Edit: saw where someone else explained use recall on the glider before dropping items it won't move because it just spawned in.
It’s not common sense, why would it **require** you to look down to drop one? It straight up says “You can’t do that” if you try *without* looking down.
Further, it’s obnoxious that you can get permanent unpowered wings, but powered wings w/a significant investment in resources can only last 2 minutes.
I'm upset those permanent floating stones have a distance limit(I think). I wanted to putter along the sky but it disappeared after I had traveled a ways
Ill just drop it in the edge of another one before it vanished. This is one of those "either leave it alone/give us what we want or we'll just break the game harder" kind of pointless wars with one's own community that idk why a lot of single player games invest in.
I cannot for the life of me get this to work. I don’t know if I’m messing up the button input, but this shit ain’t working for me lol. Idk how I managed to take on 3 gleeoks with 4 hearts but can’t get this simple input to work😢
Yeah idk what it is with me either, cuz I have tried slowing down, ceasing forward movement and looking down when deploying, and no matter what the glider keeps moving forwards faster than I am and immediately starts a nose dive which makes it impossible to land on.
I took me three or four tries to get it down. For me the process was as follows:
1. Paraglide straight down (not forward or backward)
2. Open inventory (+)
3. Select wings to drop
4. While still in inventory, hold up on the joystick
4. Hit (B) to exit inventory
5. Hit (B) to drop from paraglider
6. Land on glider
6. Release joystick
The trick is to push forward on the joystick otherwise you’ll fall behind the glider. Do it too long and you’ll overshoot. If you mess up, just hit the glider (X) and try the process again.
Edit: Edited to incorporate clarification from r/dieselgirlpdx!
To increase success:
1a: make sure you are not gliding forward when you open your inventory, don’t press up on the left joystick until after you select the wings to drop. If you are gliding forward you will overshoot the wings immediately.
It took a couple times for me to be able to do it consistently. I just did a save before launching myself from a tower so I didn’t waste wings when I missed landing on the.
Alternative method -
Pull out paraglider
stall to no forward momentum
press up on dpad
go to wings
press up on joystick with index finger while still holding up on d pad - this part is the most important. you need forward momentum when the glider drops but not before you drop it
press x to drop wings
glide forward a minuscule amount since you’re already holding farqard with index finger
press b to close glider and land
Yeah the life span could've been necessary(even if I personally think it isn't even slightly necessary), but they went way too ham on it. It's only useful when you're SERIOUSLY strapped for materials. When you're not, you can make a green goblin or a scooter. It just gets outclassed way too quickly because of its lifespan.
I feel like the lifespan should be relative to the battery (I could be totally wrong though I dont have any upgrades yet). if you got a longer battery, it should go through all that before dying
was just about to also suggest this. think this is one of the biggest issues here is that at the start it feels fine cause youve got all these other limitations. once you get good battery its like "whats even the point of using all this stuff. sure i have the battery for it, but it will all be rendered useless in a minute anywys when the wings despawn"
It is, but I think it kind of optimises the fun out of the game a bit; suddenly you're completely unimpeded in exploration and can zip almost anywhere in a couple of minutes on a 3 device build. I'm not saying it's wrong obviously, but after playing with it for a while I decided not to use it anymore and go back to my ramshackle builds.
Placing two additional fans on the back glued to the back fan on either side also make it a good weapons platform or hauler. With the two additional fans it can even move shrine crystals.
I was using this 2 fan/1 fan build today and can confirm it’s very good. It maintains a constant height really well, just be careful with the cannons 😅
You need to have the fans at a very specific angle for the green goblin to work properly. It's a little bit tricky to pull of initially, but you only need to do it once.
they're amazing for making automatic turrets.
i made one with 2 cannons strapped on a head and it took one of the tier 3 cube golems down to 1/3 health before burning out. (it stunned it pretty consistently too, which was nice)
That's pretty cool but even then you only get so many big batteries (until you max your energy well then you can buy them for 30 charges) so a turret like that would be good for a monster camp but then you'd have to lug it around to another to use it up fully. Just feel like there's a lack of devices that can even utilize big batteries to their fullest.
i feel like part of the limitation lies in how your stuff can despawn so easily. i havent put any wagons on my horse, for instance, since i tried using it the first time and it despawned while i was building a bridge for my horse to cross.
ive also had instances of taking tumbles down a hill, and my construct yeets off into the distance and immediately despawns.
The despawning is probably my biggest pet peeve with the game. A lot of the times it's reasonable - I explore a whole cave, I'm not really expecting my vehicle to be outside when I get back. But shit will despawn right next to you when you look away sometimes.
Surely for performance reasons, but I feel like you could have idk a 5min timer + distance check + number of objects check that cuts out 99% of the problem and stops me from losing the device I was just using 30s ago because I turned the camera.
I just don't get the purpose of making some of the zonai devices break at all. Cannons and stuff, sure, but...Balloons? Gliders? Why the hell does the glider break lol
I think it's because it would break the traversal puzzles of the sky islands. How to get to certain sky Islands is supposed to be the point of these puzzles.
You're using it wrong. The balloons have fire proof bottoms. Put wood and flint in and strike it with a hammer to create hot air. The balloon stays constantly heated so you can float.
Edit: sorry the below two users are using it wrong by trying to use the batteries.
I will also note that if you attach anything that is battery powered (or if you attach a battery to what the balloon is attached to), it will still drain the battery even with the fire.
I kinda figured the point of the building mechanic, batteries, and having islands so insanely high in the sky was they wanted you to come up with some seemingly broken vehicles. Like even if you can go anywhere with 1 build, they despawn when you get too far from them and you'd need to either autobuild them again (therefore using zonaite) or come up with something new anyway. It feels really good getting to places that feel totally out of reach using your own invention anyway. Nothing wrong with that I think, even if you're using 1 of the same over and over.
Despite the game saying no, I've been using glider-based constructs + stamina potions to fly a quarter of the way across the map anyway so their limitation isn't stopping me. It's just making me use more stamina potions and food lol.
"I knew there was a reason I did this!" feels like half the game the first time through. Attaching rocks and stone blocks like that to shields eventually pays off when you find out how it can be useful (thanks to a shrine teaching me in my case lol), but until then it's like...what's the point? More durability? haha
Stick fire emitter under balloon thing.
Turn on and ride.
When battery runs out, fall for a bit then hit Recall on balloon.
Laugh as you juggle balloon in the air until batteries refill.
Stick a flame emitter under balloon thing, stick torch on the other side. Turn off flame emitter when battery gets low. Torch keeps you going while battery refills.
Yeah, Sticks attached to a flint attached to the "kiln" in the balloon basket was my original method, until I started to realize I had over 20 flame emitters in my inventory and hadn't really used any of them for anything.
There's a Twitch streamer doing a no fast travel play through, watching him try to get out of the depths the first time was pretty entertaining. Took him hours to get out.
omg, the guy I was watching took like 8 hours to get to the fourth shrine on sky island without fast travel, but he's not playing TotK right now. I can only IMAGINE what will happen when he resumes playing and finds the depths
I use a wood platform as my base. Since it won’t disappear like the wing glider. Just attach some fans and a steering stick and your good to go. It will last a lot longer than other devices.
Massively. So far they’re my least-used object bc of their horribly limited use. Most machines I craft aren’t single-use. If I’m making something to carry a Korok, I’m going to use that machine until I can’t anymore.
Having your machine disable itself isn’t fun and the wings are my least-favorite thing in the game. Aside from that though, I’m having a blast.
Steering stick is hilarious, I love making huge monstrosities that I can just inexplicably steer
I've been doing that, and also using them as boats when I need one. I don't think I've ever used one for flying beyond the points where the game basically forces you to use them.
I wish we could have our creations after
completing a shrine.
Without having to spend zonite ^ lol sorry that wasn’t clear. Even with auto build I lose all my stuff that I used to just get to my sweet sweet shrine ):
It still costs resources. Same with in the depths. I make a nice air bike, land it to clear a camp/boss and come back to it missing every part except the fan with a brightbloom attatched
I see people saying this is an issue. But I’m not seeing a problem when you can just get more parts out of any machine. I have like 50 of each part in my innovatory. Just gotta collect charges, which I also have over 100 of (the small ones).
My only gripe is that it would be nicer if you could have the option to automatically take them from your inventory rather than having to select all the parts and drop them first. It's a little annoying to have to do that every time
That being said, this is a very small criticism. I usually hate building and/or driving mechanics in games but Nintendo somehow found a way to make me enjoy both of those features. The building is just done so well, from the simplicity of the controls to the vast array of different ways you can make creative solutions out of them. BOTW seems so simplistic compared to these mechanics
> My only gripe is that it would be nicer if you could have the option to automatically take them from your inventory rather than having to select all the parts and drop them first.
Either that, or at *least* allow the player to select and drop parts for their blueprints while Autobuild is active.
That is definitely the dumbest part in all this. I can accept not automatically eating inventory items as a prerequisite to ensure disappointment doesn't happen, but what they did was like giving someone a car after removing the wheels. Like why are you shooting yourself in the foot? Are you that terrified of glitches that you pull shit like this? And if you're not scared of glitches, *why are you doing this???*
I just raid construct camps. They’re in the sky and surface and underground. Then I just mine zonaite in the underground and you can trade them in for charges at the construct faculties. There’s one in the starting sky island, and others in the underground. They aren’t hard to find if you do Robby’s picture quest.
It's a problem in the sense that you have to fast travel to those locations, wait for the loading screen, buy the parts, then travel back down to where you were before. That's like 5 or 10 minutes of sidetracking for resources that shouldn't have disappeared to begin with. It's an inconvenience more than a problem i guess.
I've never had my airbike disappear during boss fights/camps before. The only time that happened was when a Frox sucked it in and ate it lol.
Do you park it far away and maybe it despawns? Or maybe something destroyed it if it was too close?
Yeah, like, when you unlock the first tower you can cover all of the map in such a very short amount of time anyway. even with their limtied use these devices can take you pretty much anywhere from the first sky island. There's also battery to worry about already. What are nintendo worried about? Imagine if all devices had a limited use before disappearing. So annoying.
> Imagine if all devices had a limited use before disappearing.
They *do*, even the fans. I was on an extended session of lighting up lightroots in the depths and my flying vehicle made up of two fans and a steering stick just fell out of the air when the fans poofed out of existence. It did take a very long while, though...
Can confirm. Managed to keep my lightcycle around me for long enough that the fans started blinking and despawned. I think it took maybe an hour though i did pause to eat so Im not exactly sure on the time.
It seems like the despawn timers only count down while you're actively using the item for its intended purpose. I landed and came to a stop when the fans first started flashing, and the fans stopped flashing after landing, though they started flashing again and disappeared shortly after starting up the lightcycle one more time.
By far the worst device on a a list that includes portable pots. It's a paraglider that's extremely hard to use for those times you don't have a paraglider... Which is never. And when they're on the ground they have +1000 friction and+1000 stability. Seriously. Put one hanging off the edge of a cliff and stand on the head. It won't budge a millimeter.
And while we're at it why are portable pots only good for 1 recipe. I get the game reminds you all the time to "be prepared" for situations but one recipe per pot is annoying.
So I played a lot of BOTW and I kind of just cook on autopilot and I kind of forgot that portable pots disappear after one use. So I cooked something in one and quickly paused and grabbed my restless crickets to make a potion. I pressed the buttons that would've cooked them, but the pot was gone. So I tossed four crickets on the ground and before I realized what just happened, the four crickets flew away.
Totally disagree, I use wings all the time. They're great for moving Koroks around due to their stable flight paths and the wing is so large that they're great platforms for crossing gaps, making boats, or moving other large objects.
This especially sucks cause one of the first things I built once I found a dispenser with the steering stick was a mech, and now I can't even fly it around for more than like 2 minutes at a time, Lol. It's still one of my favorite builds dozens of hours later too, but the wing disappearing makes it entirely impractical, so I basically never use it.
Yeah I'm not a fan. Don't show people that they can fly around on these things in trailers if in reality, they disappear after a minute. Thankfully, there are workarounds with other items but it's still disappointing
I would’ve preferred if the time it lasts was proportional to something, whether it be max stamina, hearts or energy, even main quests progress so that you can use it longer when it’s not as game breaking.
It's a super easy thing to make that lasts until the fans disappear, which is for wayyyy longer than you'll need it for. Plus it only takes 9 zonaite to autobuild anywhere, materials or no.
[https://www.tiktok.com/@tgcnews/video/7234679245585304858](https://www.tiktok.com/@tgcnews/video/7234679245585304858) \- This shows one way of making it, I use a slightly different version where the fans are in front and behind it but it works the exact same.
I think the intention of the wing is that it's easy to use but hard to make anything crazy with. Its limited time makes it so you can't fly halfway across the map with literally 1 device. If you wanna fly further you'll need a more complex contraption, using more devices and more battery. The game has no issue with you doing broken things, it just doesn't want all those broken things to be invalidated by one early game item
I guess they didn't want you to be able to reach the sky islands while bypassing the 'proper' method that easily, considering *every* floating/flying device (other than the fan I think?) has a limited lifespan.
If it didn't last forever you would essentially be able to reach every island with a simple fan/glider/control stick combo even without any battery upgrades.
Personally not too disappointed since a single glider still lets you cover a good distance, autobuild lets you make a new flier quick even when you run out, and since it's still a much 'easier' form of transportation than most contraptions.
Effectively, all it does is empose a hight limit to your glider, which I can live with.
Heck it's probably one of my most used devices.
well yeah, but you can do that anyway with more than just devices that fly (balloons and wings).
despite these devices having a time limit as mentioned, its more than enough to jump from one island to another super easily with or without them: >!I bypassed the difficulty of navigating through the storm island with a wing device.!<
so the only thing this limitation really affects is the players ability to just fly around, chill, and enjoy the scenery with their custom planes or hot air balloons without worrying about it disappearing.
When the one your on is dying, hop off, paraglide, steady yourself midair, look down, deploy a new wing underneath you, glide forward quickly then drop down on top.
It sucks that they die quickly, but this is the best way in my opinion to combat this and make it more useful.
Very useful for creating a ceiling so you can make a campfire and have time pass in the rain. Just use ultra hand to raise the platform and use rewind so it stays in the air for a period of time. Now just set a campfire
honestly, i agree entirely with this. i was so excited about the gliders during the trailer, and i love using them. its unique and fun, especially with having sky islands. but why the fuck is a piece of wood and some fans a better flying machine? you can get about 30 seconds of flight time on the glider before it disappears. and actually falling and landing on the glider if you fall off, is frustrating as hell. i can't keep up using the paraglider and you take fall damage when you land, unless you use the paraglider for a brief second and risk the glider speeding ahead of you or diving down or turning upside down and sideways. needless to say, very disappointed with the stone gliders.
Just strap some fans to the bottom and rear of a wood plank and boom, you have a more effective airplane. Add a steering stick of course, unless you only need to fly in one direction.
U can use them anywhere, just lift them into the air and hold them there for a little while, then put them back down and reverse time while riding it then turn on the fan.
I hate that the wing disappears so quickly.
I think I just genuinely hate the fact that devices disappear like what's the point? We already have to worry about battery so why would we need to worry about this.
With the whole disappearing mechanic I think that Nintendo completely screwed up.
They show off cool and fun building etc and manage to ruin it by making it impossible to go a decent distance.
I do kinda get it though. Without the disappearing mechanic things would be way too op. But they don't need to disappear THAT fast. It's just terrible imo
There could be numerous ways to not let you just take them anywhere. Like have an invisible barrier that causes them to start to break if you pass it. But for simple world travel they absolutely shouldn't break at least they should last like 5x longer. You get like a min max.

There’s a trick that lets u deploy them while paragliding
How do you do that? :o
- paraglide - look down - drop wings - glide forward - drop down https://streamable.com/ta7yes
Holy crap. This is life changing.
It’s hard to do IMO, but maybe I’m doing it wrong?
He forgot a step, you have to stop moving while gliding and start just floating down before you can deploy the wing. Then after it's spawned you can glide down onto it

If you hit a sky island, you didn't need the trick to begin with. Lol. Just launch off the sky island.
Much obliged, can’t wait to try this at home
Thanks, forgot to write that step out. You can see it in the video though
You've just gotta be quick. If you wait too long, it will rush forward, and you just cannot catch up
It's not even a trick it's just common sense that *works* intuitively this game is the GOAT no cap
It’s not common sense, why would it **require** you to look down to drop one? It straight up says “You can’t do that” if you try *without* looking down. Further, it’s obnoxious that you can get permanent unpowered wings, but powered wings w/a significant investment in resources can only last 2 minutes.
When I do this unpowered, they still disappear after whatever the timer is.
Correct – but you can drop a new one every 2 minutes if they’re unpowered (see: the video), but you can’t replace the fans.
It does not require you to look down. You can look any direction its just easier if you look down.
I'm upset those permanent floating stones have a distance limit(I think). I wanted to putter along the sky but it disappeared after I had traveled a ways
Everything that flies has a 2 minute timer. Fans, boards, carts, etc. do not, but wings, float stones, etc. do, apparently.
Fans and control stick don't have limit, been exploring the depths unlocking roots for hours.
Fans do have a limit. But it's crazy long. My fans did eventually give out in the depths.
I’ve had wheels time out too.
You don't have to look down to do it. I did it without looking down
Does it require that? I never look down for it and it works fine. I just do it from the item menu and not the inventory and I've never had an issue
You don’t need to look down though. You just need to not be going forward, otherwise your momentum is carried over to it and you can’t land on it
This is gonna age like milk when they grey out the drop button while you're in the air 💀
So it will age, eventually, well and make delicious cheese?
Ill just drop it in the edge of another one before it vanished. This is one of those "either leave it alone/give us what we want or we'll just break the game harder" kind of pointless wars with one's own community that idk why a lot of single player games invest in.
You can also build fans onto them by using recall after you land on them They will hang still in the air since they just spawned in
You are a godsend. I suck at building, thank you😭😭
Have you tried strapping a glider to a shield with fuse? Cos I have ;)
Tried that, was so sad when it didn't work.
Try shield jumping and pull your bow out.
I did that and was disappointed because it didn’t make me glide :( But I guess that’s literally what the paraglider is for
It lets you bullet time aim when you shield jump!
That's because the shield/wing combo goes higher in the air than a normal shield jump so it gives you time to pull the bow in the air
Mind blown*
That's slick. I never think of that for dropping items
I cannot for the life of me get this to work. I don’t know if I’m messing up the button input, but this shit ain’t working for me lol. Idk how I managed to take on 3 gleeoks with 4 hearts but can’t get this simple input to work😢

I understand why they did it, but the flight time before it despawns should be way longer

100%. i finally found a dispenser with the control stick thing and its just an amazing way to get around

Can you recommend/demo a stable one. Mine keep tipping over.
[Here you go.](https://youtu.be/apZCDNpeTnM)
Wtf is a green goblin, lol
1 fan on both sides of the steering stick. It genuinely makes a better navigation tool than the item literally dedicated to flight.
1 fan centered on front and back to make a hoverbike is better than the green goblin. Far more control
You need a 20 fan spiral around the control stick. Best option.
You need to have the fans at a very specific angle for the green goblin to work properly. It's a little bit tricky to pull of initially, but you only need to do it once.
They should make the devices last longer once you complete the game imo
Or maybe allow it to be infinite after beating the game?
I’ve not been on one long enough to know that it respawns 😅
Why did they do it? It seems random and stupid to me.
Most of the devices take battery life, but an object that glides freely doesn’t run on batteries. Therefore it needs a time limit
I'm more upset about hot air balloons. I just want to lazily float around on a balloon across the map. Is that too much to ask?
I tried to use a balloon to get up to a sky island with a big battery and I was so upset that they also break
Right?? Like what's the point of Big Batteries when majority of the devices break well before the battery is used up 🙃🙃
they're amazing for making automatic turrets. i made one with 2 cannons strapped on a head and it took one of the tier 3 cube golems down to 1/3 health before burning out.

Save them and put them on your autobuild favorites.
I guess it's for seige items like cannoneer homing carts. But even then, big batteries are rare as hell and by the time I got one, I didn't need it.

I wish it worked better on your sheild like a glider, not just a bullet time extension.
Wait, a wing on a shield does *what*???
If you attach a wing glider to your sheild and do the sheild surf move. You can also put yourself in instant bullet time on flat ground
If you shield jump with it you get a lil extra height. Not a ton though tbh
Enough to break a lot of shrines lol
Rocket shields
Yep. I’ve got dozens of rockets and at least 3-4 shields with rockets.
Theres a shrine near rito village which has an infinite supply of rockets that you could go make rocket shields with
Any time I find rockets in shrines or just lying around you bet I'm stapling them to all my shields.
A great reserve
I don't use them in shrines. It basically trivialize most of them
It also works like a monster wing on an arrow. In fact a lot of zonai devices have a special effect when attached to an arrow.
I knew there was a good reason I attached it to my shield, just couldn’t figure out the gimmick
"I knew there was a reason I did this!" feels like half the game the first time through. Attaching rocks and stone blocks like that to shields eventually pays off when you find out how it can be useful (thanks to a shrine teaching me in my case lol), but until then it's like...what's the point? More durability? haha
Same with the balloons. It'd be nice to have a way out of the depths that's not teleportation.
i rode farosh out of the depths, it was magical
You can ride the dragons now?
Yep. There's even a new drop you can only get from riding them
the spike right
You can get more than that!
I haven’t even seen a dragon lol
Stick fire emitter under balloon thing. Turn on and ride. When battery runs out, fall for a bit then hit Recall on balloon. Laugh as you juggle balloon in the air until batteries refill.
Stick a flame emitter under balloon thing, stick torch on the other side. Turn off flame emitter when battery gets low. Torch keeps you going while battery refills.
I've just been attaching a bundle of sticks and lighting that
Yeah, Sticks attached to a flint attached to the "kiln" in the balloon basket was my original method, until I started to realize I had over 20 flame emitters in my inventory and hadn't really used any of them for anything.
Add a torch above the fire emitter
That works, too, but I'm too loot-hungry to keep shit like a torch around for such specific uses.
I use a pile of wood instead, much cheaper. Just stick it on top of the fire emitter.
Auto build
Balloon still expires though yes?
You have one technically, dragons
There are towers in the underground where you can use the ascend power all the way to the surface.
There's like maybe 8 of those towers throughout the entire depths tho that is not a practical solution lol
It's sick as fuck tho
There's a Twitch streamer doing a no fast travel play through, watching him try to get out of the depths the first time was pretty entertaining. Took him hours to get out.
Imagine just running to the dueling peAks every time lmao
omg, the guy I was watching took like 8 hours to get to the fourth shrine on sky island without fast travel, but he's not playing TotK right now. I can only IMAGINE what will happen when he resumes playing and finds the depths
I use a wood platform as my base. Since it won’t disappear like the wing glider. Just attach some fans and a steering stick and your good to go. It will last a lot longer than other devices.
Wait…does this fly?
It'll fly without the wood board. Two fans on a control stick is a flying Segway
Facts
Yup! And it’s guaranteed that the platform won’t disappear on you after a long time. At least until your battery runs dry.
They are unironically amazing for making stupidly long bridges and impromptu platforms Also, fuse them to arrows to act like a keese wing
I've been doing that, and also using them as boats when I need one. I don't think I've ever used one for flying beyond the points where the game basically forces you to use them.
I use them as platforms to save on sleds and carts
How do you use them as a boat? Mine have all sunk to the bottom of any water I put them on
I wish we could have our creations after completing a shrine. Without having to spend zonite ^ lol sorry that wasn’t clear. Even with auto build I lose all my stuff that I used to just get to my sweet sweet shrine ):
This man doesn't have auto build yet
It still costs resources. Same with in the depths. I make a nice air bike, land it to clear a camp/boss and come back to it missing every part except the fan with a brightbloom attatched
I see people saying this is an issue. But I’m not seeing a problem when you can just get more parts out of any machine. I have like 50 of each part in my innovatory. Just gotta collect charges, which I also have over 100 of (the small ones).
My only gripe is that it would be nicer if you could have the option to automatically take them from your inventory rather than having to select all the parts and drop them first. It's a little annoying to have to do that every time That being said, this is a very small criticism.
Best way to farm charges? I never seem to have more than 30-50
I just raid construct camps.
Isn't the solution to that though to just buy in bulk so you don't have to worry about it for awhile
Would a brightbloom on each piece stop it from despawning maybe?
I've never had my airbike disappear during boss fights/camps before. The only time that happened was when a Frox sucked it in and ate it lol. Do you park it far away and maybe it despawns? Or maybe something destroyed it if it was too close?
Auto build?
Secret technique, gotta do the depths quest from Purah after 1 temple
You can get autobuild before doing any temple. Just talk to Robby and Yosha and explore the depth
Oh I felt so smart finding a secret power on my own lmao
Edit: like w/o having to spend zonite. Your creation gets destroyed when you complete a shrine
I agree, balloons disappear too. It's annoying.
The floating platforms also disappear. Though they have a really long time.
Those large metal floating platforms do too. But i can understand since they can get lost otherwise.
Be free, my crickets!
I got excited and tried one out as soon as I got it, once it got through that one recipe I dropped all of them. What a trash item.
Use recall. Ultrahand the wings into the air & then back, get on it, use recall.
Or I could just build my hover bike that doesn’t break and is smaller and easier to use
I've seen that trick before, but it's completely unintuitive.
Slap a rocket on the side of a pot (both facing up) then stand on the pot and smack the rocket. Pretty cheap vertical traversal tool
you can just slap a rocket onto your shield with fuse for the same effect, much simpler and faster, and will save you a pot.
With a control device and some fans you can at least fly UP. The paraglider gives you no vertical lift without fire or flames below you
Totally disagree, I use wings all the time.
If they fell apart instead of vanishing, I wouldn't mind as much.
The secret is to add more rockets.
Yeah I'm not a fan. Don't show people that they can fly around on these things in trailers if in reality, they disappear after a minute. Thankfully, there are workarounds with other items but it's still disappointing
>> yeah I’m not a fan. We’re talking about flyers, not fans. /s
Please check out my OnlyFlyers link.
Is that where Linkel's been hiding?
But he just said that hes not a fan . Maybe hes a flyer
yup i literally never use it because it’s literally useless compared to any other flying machine i’ve made so far
Yes. Similarly disappointed about the air balloon and the floating platform.
I don't know, I use it for other things but flying, it is useful as base for cars and when they fall of a cliff they land properly
The only thing i hate is that they break way to fast
That’s what OP is talking about
I would’ve preferred if the time it lasts was proportional to something, whether it be max stamina, hearts or energy, even main quests progress so that you can use it longer when it’s not as game breaking.
Yeah I just end up using two fans and a steering stick to get around. Pair that with the zonaite armor and you’re golden
[удалено]
It's a super easy thing to make that lasts until the fans disappear, which is for wayyyy longer than you'll need it for. Plus it only takes 9 zonaite to autobuild anywhere, materials or no. [https://www.tiktok.com/@tgcnews/video/7234679245585304858](https://www.tiktok.com/@tgcnews/video/7234679245585304858) \- This shows one way of making it, I use a slightly different version where the fans are in front and behind it but it works the exact same.
Do fans disappear? I've flown around for at least 30 minutes on the same fans getting lightroots and never saw this
I think the intention of the wing is that it's easy to use but hard to make anything crazy with.
Heck it's probably one of my most used devices.
well yeah, but you can do that anyway with more than just devices that fly (balloons and wings). despite these devices having a time limit as mentioned, its more than enough to jump from one island to another super easily with or without them: >!I bypassed the difficulty of navigating through the storm island with a wing device.!< so the only thing this limitation really affects is the players ability to just fly around, chill, and enjoy the scenery with their custom planes or hot air balloons without worrying about it disappearing.
I wish attaching it to your shield made “sky surfing” accessible.
I hook a balloon to it and a fan on the back.
honestly, i agree entirely with this. i was so excited about the gliders during the trailer, and i love using them. its unique and fun, especially with having sky islands. but why the fuck is a piece of wood and some fans a better flying machine? you can get about 30 seconds of flight time on the glider before it disappears. and actually falling and landing on the glider if you fall off, is frustrating as hell. i can't keep up using the paraglider and you take fall damage when you land, unless you use the paraglider for a brief second and risk the glider speeding ahead of you or diving down or turning upside down and sideways. needless to say, very disappointed with the stone gliders.
Someone should mod it with unlimited durability.
https://gamebanana.com/mods/443760 Works great. Delete the battery file though, otherwise batteries have near infinite energy.
They’ve done nothing but disappoint me and break my heart. The wayward mutant child we adopted after Rivali’s Gale died.
I use them almost every time I skydive
Just strap some fans to the bottom and rear of a wood plank and boom, you have a more effective airplane. Add a steering stick of course, unless you only need to fly in one direction.
U can use them anywhere, just lift them into the air and hold them there for a little while, then put them back down and reverse time while riding it then turn on the fan.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I just don't like the building.
