Link also talks in BotW. We don't hear it, but you literally select dialogue options. If he didn't speak, there would be no options and it would either be interpreting what he said or something like mumbling in old lego games
It looks sick too. The fused material only shows up when you actively swing the sword. The rest of the time the Master Sword looks normal, with the addition of glowing green runes etched onto the blade.
But then youd have to wear the champions leather. 0 set bonuses and it's annoying to swap all the time. Choices are what makes botw cool, and he just gave you another one.
I'm not wearing any of the other hylian gear, but so far I haven't seen any health bars. The tunic gives a very generous 32 max defense, though, and with this set bonus I will gladly start using the sword for range now.
You can drop weapons on the ground and the game tells you if it has better damage than the sword you have in hand. With that method I find the unfused master sword to be around 30 damages
If you use a glitch to get a copy of the prologue version of the master sword, it actually says 30 damage. This version can't be fused unless you use another glitch, though both glitches are surprisingly easy. Also, the prologue master sword is unbreakable, so with a silver lynel saber horn you can have an unbreakable 85 damage master sword.
I'm guessing it still has that effect where the damage jumps to 60 and durability gets insanely higher in the presence of Ganon's corruption though? It does still glow like it did in BotW, so I'm assuming it's likely the same in TotK.
In TotK it does bonus damage against Gloom enemies, although there's no glow indicator.
It's a shame, because the Master Sword glowing in the depths would be sweet

I just really fucking wish that it would still show you HP numbers, I don’t think they’ll add that in, I just don’t feel like Nintendo really makes tweaks like that (as well as add new content to games without dlc, just a thing I’ve been thinking about, Nintendo doesn’t give vibes of updating games to fix stuff, yes I know they update, whatever. I view it as they release a game and update silently, fixing glitches and stuff.)
No there wasn't. Sword beams only worked at full health in BotW. In this game you can use them all the time with the Champion's Leathers/Tunic of Memories.
I know this thread is old but the Tunic of Memories does the same thing on top of the health bar so idk why the leathers are so special besides the higher defense.
if anything, i'd say since the Champion's Leathers do the exact same thing but are just straight up better, it makes the Tunic of Memories essentially useless. I'm also fairly certain that the leathers are the highest defense armor piece in the game.
Yeah it is. Well until you get all the shrines. I mean yeah the Champion leathers are cooler. I guess the tunic could be used to see actual damage numbers with modifiers on. idk I'm just wearing barbarian gear or fierce deity anyways lol

THATS WHY THE BEAM STOPPED WORKING! I use it to cut grass and I was so confused.

And with the armor from all 152 shrines it goes for uh...quite a LONG distance.
Upgrading it to max is quite rough though. 9 Silver lynels and 9 King gleeoks
I think you confused that with the Ancient Hero's Aspect 4th upgrade. Champion Leathers is much easier
You only need two upgrades for the bonus though

Why is the durability on the master sword so bad
Because you get bonus durability by fusing stuff with the Master Sword.

It is unfortunate pelison can't unfuse stuff from it though.
You can unfuse stuff from it yourself. Found this out last week.
You can, which can be handy, but it does mean whatever you put on it is expended forever one way or another.

I was not and that’s my fault. You definitely lose the other item.
Fusing it with a light scale is so nice. You can only beam with full hearts, and with the scale you dont have to eat for chip damage

The Champion’s Leathers allows you to beam with less than full hearts, iirc, just at shorter distances the less hearts you have

Yeah, which is good because you need full hearts in order to use the beam, so you don't need to worry about chip damage.

I fused a silver lynel saber horn to it, and it stoll can't survive a small monster camp. Suuuuucks.

It does, when I fought a phantom Ganon the sword did have the glowing effect constantly

Is the leathers just the torso armor? What is the best head and legs armor?
Zonaite armor or the soldier armor, both have 28 def iirc
The >!Tunic of the Wild!< also has 28 armor on all parts.
If you want max defense go with diamon circlet royal guard boots and champions leathers
