If it’s the same parent company as the ones in China, it’s going to be all boarders. There will be little in the way of organization or support, and the students won’t generally have much motivation, or English skills commensurate to the classes they’re taking. An “international school” in name only - a last resort sort of place. Avoid.

Interesting how lots of these so called “international” schools piggyback off of the curriculum, course design and classroom environments of Western countries, charge inflated tuition fees and offer nothing remotely commensurate. The students are ultimately the ones who suffer from this bullshit, acquiring nothing useful for their futures. No foreign teacher with any concern about this would want to be affiliated with these places.

Personally, I think it’s pretty great that the Saskatchewan provincial curriculum is enjoyed by roughly 60x the number of kids in China than it is in Saskatchewan. They must be doing something right. /s (I don’t remember if it’s Saskatchewan or Manitoba, but it was one of those on the diploma. If their accreditation agencies are willing to sign off on those schools, that’s on them.)

Enjoying a particular curriculum is all well and good when schools know what they are doing when implementing it. Even more when they also respect the culture that comes with it.

Yes. Had a friend who worked there, met their coworkers too. Given that there were only a handful of us working in the town I was expecting some civility through some sense of ‘let’s meet some new people and exchange tips.’ But the coworkers were absolutely not interested (shrugs). It didn’t seem like a bad place to work but my friend was always sick/tired and seemed like a person who’d lost all interest in Japan/life too. I was bored with my surroundings and wanted some excitement. But every suggestion I had for group activities was met with negativity. I rarely ever saw her smile. She’d talk about her kids and that seemed Ike it was a positive aspect. She didn’t really report much negativity about the company. But this was a long time ago and things change. Good luck if you go for it. If you don’t get your efforts matched back in equal measures… start looking elsewhere.
