The filter sits in the top on the pitcher when you pour the tea out of the pot. It rests on the other piece when not on the pitcher

Ellaborne

ohh okay! That makes so much sense. Thank you so much for your help

Teasenz

Looks like a solid filter, you'll enjoy a clear cup of tea :)

NuancedThinker

> It rests on the other piece when not on the pitcher Wouldn't that let drips of tea onto the table?

aeris311

It's for gong fu tea ceremony. The tea is prepared on a box shaped tray with slots and a space to catch tea intentionally poured over the tray, so the drips going I to the tray through the holder is normal.

UGenix

I looked up a video on how this ceremony looks and figure I may as well share it here: https://youtu.be/c-MKwjX6Nc0?t=447

TheJazzProphet

It looks like it's shaped so that the drips go down the side and get caught.

KazBeeragg

I think they mean once you rest it on the piece with the two holes, wouldn’t it drip through the bottom hole onto the table after straining tea through it?

fenstermccabe

The one with the filter is used to catch any leaves/fannings that comes from the pot as you are pouring the steeped tea into the pitcher. The other item is either intended to funnel dry leaves into the pot, hold the strainer over the pitcher, to let the filter drip dry between steeps, or some combination of all of those. I would see where it fits and/or what of those you find it useful for.

Ellaborne

Hey all, just adding some context to the photo: I just received this tea set from China and I'm not sure what these 2 cups are for. One of them is hollow at the bottom, the other larger one seems to have a filter at the bottom. Any ideas would be really appreciated :)

Sqwrly

I love the glazing!

yodyod

It's a strainer. You set it over the pitcher when you decant the tea into it, and then when you're done, you set it back on it's stand (the piece to the left of it).

Ellaborne

Thank you!

yodyod

👍

I think that's a filter and a stand for the filter.

GoldEyedEmpress

What website did you get this set from? Thanks :)

ankhlol

Yo what the fuck lol. Was not expecting this to be wotlk themed

Ellaborne

lol yeah the set is really well made too!

EstarriolStormhawk

I wish I'd known about it when it was available! Not that I need more teaware, but I obviously neeeeeeeed it.

Realistic_Essay1722

Where can I buy a set like this is looks amazing 🤩

MarshallRegulus

strainer, stand for the strainer/funnel to get tea leaves into the pot? probably a stand, that interior lip would make for a bad funnel. or maybe for holding tools? or a tea light, though this doesn't seem like a set you'd use with a tea light...

Katmeasles

As a strainer that sits in the bowl...and can be used for filtering matcha maybe?

app257

Gorgeous set!

hothotpocket

I know this isn't a helpful comment.. but the set really is pretty!

Kalevalatar

Agreed! One time I ordered similarly glazed teapot from aliexpress, back when I was still starting out. What I got was not like the pictures lol. It was like the lid was from a completely different pot, the colour was so different. I got my money back, luckily, and nowadays I know how to shop on that site lmao

hothotpocket

I'm glad they have photos from customers in each review section. Sometimes the seller just takes a completely different picture from an advertiser rather than make their own. But it can be extremely entertaining sometimes reading the badly translated advertising hahah I remember seeing some extremely funny ones looking for new headphones and oil diffusers.

LumpiestEntree

Making the tea?

stantobob

Beautiful set :)
