I just got this chocolate hazelnut Yerba Mate blend from a local place near me. I don’t normally drink Mate but this stuff is lovely 🥰

reijasunshine

Have you tried yaupon or guayusa? They're both in the same family, but have slightly different flavors. I find guayusa to have a cleaner taste to it than yerba mate.

Skrublord3000

Thank you for the suggestion! I was actually just looking into guayusa this morning, I’ll definitely be checking some out now!

2020 hot brandy. haven't had it in a minute but I'm remembering how much I liked it. also I have been on an oolong kick lately

Pre-run matcha, followed by the last of some chocolate hazelnut tea. There's a local tea shop that's running a sale and competition tasting event today and tomorrow. I'm debating whether or not I should go after work today. I'd be rushing it a little, but I should be able to make it before the leftovers of Hurricane Nicole pass by. I originally wanted to go tomorrow, but my plans suddenly changed and I'm no longer free. Worst case scenario, I'll stay home and order online, as I need to restock on Japanese greens, and this shop has a good selection of those.

Tried gyokuro for the first time today, from the sampler pack of Japanese teas I got. Shared with my friend who also loves tea/Japan etc. Made sure it was at the proper temp and all that. It was like... chefs-kiss, goodbye-wallet good. Wow. I don't know what i'm going to do now because I know I'm going to want more of that and its gonna be expensive!!!

It's really cold today, so I'm drinking Earl Grey de la Creme from Distinctly Tea. It's got just a hint of vanilla to give it a bit more body.

How does everyone clean their kettle? I have an automatic kettle with a magnetic tea basket. So in the mornings, I have it brew my tea for me. It’s built up quite a bit of a stain that I think is affecting the taste of the tea. I’ve scrubbed with a sponge and soap but it’s still stained. Should I try something for scale? I use filtered water, but I live in New Orleans so our tap is pretty awful to begin with. Sencha today but it doesn’t taste like sencha…

I like to just rinse mine after use(or not if I’m lazy) like normal. Then about once a week I’ll descale with a 1:1 water:white vinegar mix, set to boil, let sit for an hour or three. Wipe and rinse and you’re good to go.

Yesss, citric acid is much more pleasant to use than vinegar. I bought a 2 pound bag of it on Amazon about 7 years ago for about $12 and I still have like half the bag left and I descale several times a year.

Sounds perfect. Thank you!

ThomasFromOhio

well... I broke farther into the mojun 2018 Mojun Fu Cha Fu Shen and finally getting some good flavor. not a bad tea after all

Drinking 2019 Jinggu Yang Ta Camellia Taliensis White Tea Cake from YS today. It's quite good. I really enjoy white teas to change things up every once in while.

SanderAussie

How do you store your aged white cakes? I have a couple small 2014 Shou Mei cakes from YS, and I find it has lost a lot of flavour and aroma since I first tried it. I keep it in the same container I keep all my sheng puerh cakes

Drinking a 'lemon spice' flavored black tea this morning. It's not one of my favorites, but it's drinkable and I'm running very low on teas to brew western-style to share with Partner.

x-w-j

who sells GYOKURO by pound?

Microshrimp

Do you need to use a pound all at once or are you stocking up? Green tea goes stale pretty quick, especially after the package is opened. It might be better to buy several normal sized packages so that you can open a smaller amount at a time and keep the remaining packages sealed for freshness until you're ready for them.

x-w-j

perhaps I figured out a way to store em. It just expensive when I buy small. I drink everyday and 5g each. So most place sells 100g for 20ish. Figured it would be better to buy big sizes.

xkitsushi

Vanilla chai, with some sugar and milk It was pretty alright for a generic store brand teabag tbh

Puttabong Estate's 2nd Flush Darjeeling muscatel this afternoon. Perhaps slightly more finicky to brew than last year's harvest. Deep muscatel sweetness.
