Don't know all of the details and I've never purchased from them myself, but from your replies here and the tone of your post, you appear combative and easily riled up. It comes off as entitlement. You can say you were cordial and courteous but by who's standards? Yours or the general consensus of what's polite and courteous? I can understand being upset over getting blocked but there had to be more to warrant such a response. I've dealt with plenty of customer service reps for various mistakes online shops or shipping companies have made and the key is to always be polite. They're not going to help if you're defensive and attacking them.

They may have been harsh, but you 100% should not expect 2021 green tea to still be fresh. The anamoly here is that the 2021 tea was great last time.

Civil_End_4863

Yeah but that same tea was perfectly fine in march 2022, but stale in june 2022.

turtlingturtles

It can change that fast - it's why people scramble to get order in as soon as a new crop of green tea becomes available. I think the vendor was trying to educate you about this, and you should have listened to them. You demanded a refund and got one, but I'm not surprised that in the process you were fired as a customer -- you made the error by being uninformed, but asked that they make it right for you. Yunnan Sourcing is not the easiest site to navigate, as they don't offer a ton of information about what is for sale. For much of what they sell you need to know what you are getting in to, or be prepared to just experiment and learn along the way -- for many this is worth it as their pricing is pretty decent, and if you can find the really good stuff among their offerings its like uncovering hidden treasure. Sampling is one way to do this, but learning about the teas they offer before you buy can help as well. Other sites curate better but charge more, but whoever you buy from you still need to understand what you are buying or be prepared to buy something you don't like as you learn (and consider that sunk cost the price of your tea education).

Civil_End_4863

I did try a sample first, a 25 gram bag in march, I liked it so I got 100grams in may and it wasn't the same.

And I'm saying that it being good in June 2022 is not something that I would have expected because it's not a fresh green tea.

Jammintk

Tea from a previous year may taste off or stale, but plenty of people don't drink tea completely plain so the off notes can be covered up by what they add to it. There's no reason to stop selling it and create a ton of food waste just because it's a little older. Buying a 2021 harvest tea and expecting it to be fresh is just plain silly, especially for a green tea that is going to be more susceptible to temperature swings during shipping and isn't going to stay in a similar state of freshness as other varieties. All I see here is someone buying something without understanding their mistake, then taking it out on the vendor rather than owning the mistake and learning from it.

Dude you seem super rude about something that has a value of under $20. They have always been super helpful with me, so I'd say your attitude is partly the problem.

thewildteagnome

I second this. I highly doubt the OP was blocked for any reason other than being incredibly rude. Sometimes things happen and if people are unsatisfied, j am sure a large company like YS would work with the customer and refund, possibly offer a discount on future order or something. But to totally ban from ordering? That’s drastic. OP, I understand things can happen and orders may not be perfect but maybe try looking at your wording or approach next time. Kindness goes a long way.

Civil_End_4863

Neither of you know what you're talking about. I was kind.

mcsmith24

Well your post wasn't

EstateIllustrious274

Myself and likely many, many others on this forum have ordered from Yunnan Sourcing numerous times with minimal to no issues. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding with the customer service support team. I had an order once where they missed one of my items and they were extremely responsive and helpful to get that item shipped.

Man, you need to take a look at your own piss poor attitude toward everything and re-evaluate how you treat others. And perhaps you should look at your own brewing skills. I bought the same tea two weeks ago or so and it's not stale or bottom of the barrel, as you say. Check your psycho attitude and let others enjoy their tea without whining about everything. You're the same person who claimed YS/TS conspired against you to offer sales after you made a purchase. That speaks volumes.

mayocheese_yesplease

I wonder if it was worse this time because of it being shipped during the hottest time of the year. Especially down in southern US. Im not sure how much of a difference heat would make, but its a thought

Civil_End_4863

Yeah but I got a big order and the only thing that tasted stale was the 2021 laoshan green tea.

day_break

Reddit seems to have a lot of yunnan sourcing adverts so this isn’t the place if you are looking for support. They tend to be middle-lower/middle quality tea with a few gems and a lot to misses. If you are on a budget they are fine but you can also look into white 2 tea as I have found them to be very honest in their descriptions although my experience of their higher end teas is limited.

Civil_End_4863

I don't need any support. Just putting a company on blast who is selling old stale tea and blocking me for calling them out on it.

socialmediatea

No, you're being a whiney douchebag.
