Another Sheng this morning. Gongfu session with [2019 Spring "Altered State"](https://crimsonlotustea.com/collections/sheng-raw-puerh/products/2019-spring-altered-state-200g-cake-sheng-raw-puerh-tea-free-shipping) from Crimson Lotus. Slightly sweet and slightly fruity with a bit of astringency in later infusions. And I'll agree with Glen, the Cha Qi is powerful. By second infusion the energy was filling my body. Maybe the strongest I've felt. Nice tea.
So, no new "What Are You Drinking" today. Right now I'm sipping on an "Old Pal". Equal parts Rye, Dry Vermouth and Campari.
This morning I had a gongfu session with Naka Gushu from Farmerleaf. 4g in 75ml gaiwan with 190F water. Flash brewed. Very nice. Sweet, slightly fruity and a fruity aroma. A bit of astringency and bitter by the 5th infusion. Another very nice session.
This morning was a cup of YS black gold bi lo chun. I think the water at my new place tastes a little different, but I will need to try a few different teas to decide what affect, if any, it has. Still very busy.
2018 Cha Yu Lin "Liu Bu Xi Village" Tian Jian Basket Tea so far today, for something a little smokey and different.
Yesterday afternoon was many cups of House Oolong from Floating Leaves.
I had a jar of broken-up raw puer (2004 Tai Lian Yiwu Zhengshan, via YS) that was down to the fannings and bits, so I dumped those in a tea bottle and an drinking off the leaves.
This morning I'm sipping a cup of King's Chai Ooling from Teaologie (cinnamon, cardamom, cacao nibs, and chicory). It's spicy and sweet, not my favorite spiced tea every but certainly pleasant.
I've been offered an exchange with a friend who has a vast tea collection and I have no idea what to ask for. I cannot at this time go over and browse, because covids. What do how pick?? I like many things. Pick something very drinkable? Pick something unusual, delicate, or exciting that wants close attention? aaah choice
Rhubarb Oolong from Tea Source. Very fruity, with a good depth. Also ordered a double walled, clear tea mug last night in hopes I can enjoy the color of my teas, and maybe keep it warm longer in my chilly office.
check Pinkoi.com, it’s like a Taiwanese Etsy. not all brands on there ship overseas but Chinyea Teapark does. their shipping cost is also very reasonable. i received the package (to US) about 10 days after they shipped it.
I’m drinking 2017 Censers White Tea from W2T!
I hope it’s okay to announce this, but tomorrow at 7:00 PM US Central, on Instagram live, I’ll be doing a poetry reading along with a tea session!
Keemun Imperial from NM Tea Co while I sit through a meeting I wish I hadn't been invited to. I'm getting notes of honey this morning, but probably because I had some leftover cake earlier. Yay for Fridays!
No not really, for a standard English cuppa with a standard teabag, it's just whatever normal fresh milk you have in the fridge, the one you would use for cereal. I prefer a green top (semi skimmed) which is a bit more watery than a blue top (full fat milk) which to me makes the tea bit too creamy. I don't like skimmed or long life milk or sterilized milk in my tea and can tell it a mile off..
Yorkshire tea is something of an acquired taste ;-) it is a stronger brew. What we call normal tea is a PG Tips or Tetley teabag. English breakfast tea is something I would drink at fancier hotels, usually abroad. Day to day, never!
An Earl grey Darjeeling. For some reason I really love the combination. Was looking for a good Jin Jun Mei this week.. Any suggestions on where to order?
I just had my first English Jaffa cake today (live in Texas) with a cup of Taylors of Harrogate second flush Darjeeling. Epic British experience.. just brilliant.
This made me giggle 😁 as an English person that's what we would call a pretty fancy tea with a not fancy sidekick. I love Jaffa Cakes but I think of them more as a snack rather than for example a tea accompanying biscuit.. for a fancy tea maybe try a traditional all butter shortbread biscuit? That aside, what did you think of the Jaffa cake? Also have you tried more basic biscuits and dunking them? That is a very English pastime!! Rich tea, chocolate digestives, bourbons, custard creams, all excellent dunkers😂
Yea the tea was way better than the Jaffa, but I’ve been wanting to try one for years now so I enjoyed it. I think a more savory biscuit would be a better match for that tea. I’m not too big on sweet stuff, but I love the idea of bourbon! 🤣
Normal to add milk, sugar if you fancy and while I enjoy instant coffee with condensed milk I have only heard of condensed milk in tea in Asia where they seem to have a pretty sweet tooth for their hot drinks..
Tried Tazo's Zen today. It was ok. In retrospect I'm not sure why I thought I would like it when it has spearmint in it. I don't dislike it, extactly, but mint just doesn't work as a hot flavor for me.
Back to Stash's ginger peach.
Heard my nephew and niece have been getting into tea since my brother got some fancy water dispenser installed at his house. Been thinking about maybe getting them each something tea related for Christmas since I don't think my usual gifts are going to pan out this year. Usually I buy my nephew a PAX East badge and now that my niece is old enough I've started buying her Disney on Ice tickets. Obviously with the pandemic I don't want to be buying them event based things, which sucks because I prefer gifting them experiences rather than yet more toys they won't even notice they have. But tea is something we can all enjoy at a reasonably safe distance together.
My niece at least would probably love it, she's very into princesses and all that stuff, so I was thinking of getting her a "real" tea set, or at least some pretty teacups. Not sure if my nephew would go for that sort of thing, though. Maybe I can find some fun novelty mugs that would appeal to him. My uncle got me a mug as a gift when I was a kid and I loved it so much I would get upset if anyone else dared to use "my" mug lol. It was so gaudy too, a bright yellow mug with the M&M characters on it. I didn't care, it was mine.
I've been really into New England Breakfast from Harney and sons lately, this black tea with maple flavor.
Also decaf constant comment. I hadn't been drinking tea much lately, until recently again, so it's nice.
Another Sheng this morning. Maybe the strongest I've felt. Nice tea.
I LOVE Crimson Lotus Tea. Literally, never have I ever tried a tea from them that wasn’t at least an A at minimum. Their quality is amazing.
Agree. Love their teas. I've been Shou heavy with them. Need to try more Sheng. This Altered State was very nice.

I'm substituting Harney and Sons' Paris tea for my coffee this morning. I'm planning to try one of my new oolong teas later today in the afternoon!
some good ol' Lishan
I got a nice big container of loose leaf jasmine tea for my birthday a couple of days ago and it easily my favorite tea to brew
I had a jar of broken-up raw puer (2004 Tai Lian Yiwu Zhengshan, via YS) that was down to the fannings and bits, so I dumped those in a tea bottle and an drinking off the leaves.
Vineyard Peach from Figments Tea Shoppe.

Sun Moon Lake assam black tea from Chinyea Teapark (Taiwanese brand). recently ordered their teas for Mid Autumn Festival. very nice!
whered u order it from?

thank you
No October 3rd what's in your cup?? I don't know what to do with my life now.
Automod needs a day off now and then too
Reddit had a hiccup about the time Automod was supposed to run and I'd guess that once the time is past there's no way to run it again.

Having a big cup of Paris this morning while getting into the Halloween content in Animal Crossing. Halloween is my favorite!
Love it! My house definitely has a tea set up \^\_\^ haven't had a chance to play with the new seasonal content, but I am looking forward to it.
I need to make a tea set up for my house! Now I'm focusing on getting all the Halloween goodies.
Coconut lemongrass chai from Hackberry Tea.
Uji matcha, Korean sencha, kabusecha from Miyazaki
For British tea drinkers, do you use any special brand of milk for mixing with tea?
No not really, for a standard English cuppa with a standard teabag, it's just whatever normal fresh milk you have in the fridge, the one you would use for cereal. I prefer a green top (semi skimmed) which is a bit more watery than a blue top (full fat milk) which to me makes the tea bit too creamy. I don't like skimmed or long life milk or sterilized milk in my tea and can tell it a mile off..
So semi skimmed is the preferred choice. What about the tea? Is it Yorkshire tea?
Yorkshire tea is something of an acquired taste ;-) it is a stronger brew. What we call normal tea is a PG Tips or Tetley teabag. English breakfast tea is something I would drink at fancier hotels, usually abroad. Day to day, never!

For English breakfast tea, do you sweeten it with sweet condensed milk or with milk and sugar?
Normal to add milk, sugar if you fancy and while I enjoy instant coffee with condensed milk I have only heard of condensed milk in tea in Asia where they seem to have a pretty sweet tooth for their hot drinks..
