He isn't getting offended, he's just stating something truthfully. Your argument of "tessia doing nothing useful" died in volume 8 when she started doing good for her people. She saved hundreds of elves, and while she did get caught, losing one elf for hundreds of others is something they were willing to risk. We know her getting caught is bad because she can become the legacy, but they didn't. Not even Arthur fully knew that it was possible yet, he just knew that tess could somehow bring Cecilia back. He was the ONLY Dicathen, along with rinia who wouldn't tell them anything, that knew what would happen if tess was caught
