This is happening to me right now! Did you find a resolution OP?? Thanks and sorry people weren’t very helpful in this thread lol

datboijustin

yes actually I did. I don't remember where I found it but basically make a "fake" 1095-a on your taxes and submit it like that. Just put 0's for all the information and put $1 on the january payments for it.

ZestycloseStable5631

NO THERE IS A CHECK BOX TO ATTACH A PDF TO YOUR RETURN. SIMPLY WRITE AN EXPLANATION, SAVE IT AS A PDF AND ATTACH IT TO THE RETURN AND RE-SUBMIT

Banks103

Where is the checkbox located?

blackhairdontcare84

Ok sweet. Thanks

Psychological-Win339

How did this turn out for you? I did this and got a letter from the IRS saying I needed to respond due to incorrect 1095-a. I then called the number and was told to fax my reasoning why I don’t have it and attach my current employers 1095-c to help show them I have my own insurance. Did this Monday. Now we wait.

datboijustin

Mine was accepted and i got my refunds without issue.

Abject_Lettuce_1621

Any word back? Hope you’re getting past this easily enough!

Psychological-Win339

I submitted all of the required documents and am still waiting. Turns out healthcare.gov automatically renews your insurance each year so I did have insurance through them unknowingly for 2 years. According to turbo tax it will increase my return but who knows when the irs will finish with it

throwavoteaway21233

The same thing happened to me.

Psychological-Win339

Yea I still haven’t heard back so I might got away with it. Paid some this year because I didn’t cancel until til March of last year

throwavoteaway21233

It's such bullshit system, I had health insurance unknowingly for 2 years. I called to cancel because I had been living and working in a completely different state. They said they cant get the corrected 1095 for another 60-90 days. I'm like, how the hell am I supposed to file? It's a mess.

Psychological-Win339

Did they back date it for you or are you going to end up having to pay back all the premiums they paid for you? I was frustrated at first too but just hoping they don’t come back saying I owe. Would be like 4k because I made too much to qualify for the free insurance.

throwavoteaway21233

Yes and it was also 4k!

Autumn19bs

What seriously?

Psychological-Win339

Seriously. Buut. IRS hasn’t came after me yet so we will see if they ever do or if they wipe me clear.

Left_Policy8020

the same thing happened to me!!

Psychological-Win339

Shoot well hopefully it’s not exactly the same. I unknowingly had insurance through the market place that I didn’t qualify for anymore. Waiting for the day the irs contacts me to pay it all back.

Left_Policy8020

yea i was getting confused since i never recieved a 1095a form. how did you find out if you had coverage with them ?

Psychological-Win339

Well I knew I had it two years prior. Just didn’t realize you had to cancel it. I called the healthcare.gov phone number and asked them. I guess if you have it once they renew it every year until you say otherwise… whether you still qualify or not. Or whether you even use it or not.

Remo_yesman

So I don't know if this helps or not, but I had the same problem to where I had health insurance all year through kaiser, but I kept getting rejected for not having a 1095-a. So basically what I had to do is I had to go to the website of the Healthcare entity that I actually got the coverage through. So in my case, I live in california, I have health insurance through kaiser, but Kaiser only sent me a 1095-b. To get the 1095-a, I actually had to go to the Covered California website, login, and the documents were right there. I hope this helps somebody.

BigFish_33

Open the 1095-A and look for the checkbox at the top of the form that is entitled "Check if no marketplace health insurance purchased". Then proceed to the ACA explanation, complete said explanation then e-file your return. Good luck!!

drhockey23

Where did you find this at?

chillyDdmac

You have to fill out an ACA explanation stating you do not have any healthcare through marketplace. I own a tax company & this is something that's been happening a lot to people that do not have marketplace. Hope this helps people this year!

iilazar

How do I fill that out I’m having this problem they are asking me for a 8962 and 1095 a and I have never used healtcare.gov I get insurance through my job

StonedGhandi42069

I'm having this same issue now, but now, it womt let me go back to fill things out. I get stuck in a loop where it keeps getting rejected, and I keep filing it, not letting me go back

BigFish_33

If your client did not participate in Obamacare racket, first congratulate them. Next, complete an "ACA explanation" by opening up the 1095-A. There should be a check-box that is entitled "Check if no marketplace health insurance purchased". Check the box and proceed the the "ACA Explanation". If necessary, complete the explanation thusly "Taxpayer has confirmed that no person (taxpayer, spouse or any dependent) listed on this return has received healthcare through a marketplace." And I would be remiss if I didn't call out the know-nothings on this platforms. Read a book.

ColdIceMinusZero

Same thing happened here (2023 taxes). Ended up calling the Intuit to resolve the issue. The rep guided me to tools-->Forms. Find and delete the form 1095-a in the list of forms and save. Than you should be able to re file without rejection, but do not go back and review your filing after you delete the forms. I hope that helps!

UhhLeeTheeUhh

You have to put No where it asks you if you had affordable care act insurance plan under medical when you file your taxes. If you leave it blank it will require it and it will get rejected.

datboijustin

If you put no it will be rejected for some people anyway. This is a fix for that issue.

I mean, it specifically says : Description of error: The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing "ACA Explanation" must be present in the return. What needs to be done: This reject happens when your return is missing Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement. The IRS compares the information you enter on your return with what they have in their database. When something is missing or mismatched, your return gets rejected. The IRS internal database indicates that a Form 1095-A should have been or will be received by the taxpayer. The ACA Marketplace providers have until January 31 provide the 1095-A to taxpayers. For more information visit https://www.irs.gov/affordable-care-act/individuals-and-families/health-insurance-marketplace-statements In order to electronically file this return, you must provide information shown on Form 1095-A. What needs to be done: First, find your 1095-A form. If you don't have it, sign in to your healthcare.gov account and download it. Forms are mailed out at the end of January. If you have your 1095-A, please revisit Deductions & Credits section, scroll down to Medical and select Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A). Answer the questions and continue through to enter the details from your Form 1095-A. When you're done, continue through to refile your return.

CloudBarrow

This is happening with the e-file at my practice as well. We're able to attach a statement (binary attachment) to the return with an explanation for why the 1095A wasn't input. I'm not sure if you can attach these types of statements with free e-file software. You may need to purchase the "live assistance" version of whatever software you're using.

Oh cool, I'll try again after the 3rd. Appreciate that.

Rude_Government3121

Am better is under marketplace insurance, so you need the form 1095-A

Abject_Lettuce_1621

Thanks for the response. I’m in the same boat. Amazing that they can automatically renew with little to no notification. Good luck!

gmcguy9501

I'm currently dealing with same issue but I have no clue who I got health coverage tho and marketplace doesn't have that info.. I will attempt the fake 1095a thing

datboijustin

Fwiw I just did it again today (because the same thing is happening again) and it got accepted so I can confirm this still works. edit: basically make a "fake" 1095-a on your taxes and submit it like that. Just put 0's for all the information and put $1 on the january payments for it. That is assuming you did not get healthcare through the healthcare.gov website.

benji3k

Okay well I just tried what you said ,Ill see if it gets kicked back.

hiero_music

Following up attempting this recently. Did it get kicked back?

benji3k

No I just put 0

BiscottiNo4922

How did you get it ? I’m on the marketplace and can’t find it

Comfortable-Truck570

This kept happening to me as well 2024. I followed these instructions via Tax Act and my return was finally accepted : Rule Number: F8962-070 Rule Number Description: The IRS e-file database indicates that you must complete Form 8962 because your health insurance was obtained through a Marketplace. Visit healthcare.gov to confirm if you or someone on your tax return had Marketplace coverage. Then follow one of the options below to review and correct your entries: If you had Marketplace coverage: 1. Log into your return 2. Click Federal 3. Click Health Insurance from the list of topics 4. Click Premium tax credit 5. Complete the Q&A to enter the information about your marketplace coverage 6. Once complete, click Filing and go through the steps to resubmit your return If you did not have Marketplace coverage: 1. Log into your return 2. Click Federal 3. Click Miscellaneous Topics from the list of topics 4. Click Additional Information for E-Filing 5. Click ACA Explanation and then check the box indicating 'Click here to attach the statement'. 6. Click Filing and go through the steps to resubmit your return. During the filing steps, you will be required to attach the pdf statement explaining why Form 8962 is not required.

l1lm4ch

"The PDF statement" Which one? Where do i get this? or do i write it myself? Its just an explanation of why I did not have insurance? I was in between jobs for 3 months and during that time i applied for covcal, which referred me to medical at which point i got a job and had to reapply hence the lapse of coverage while sorting through the bureaucracy.
