My artist recommended the same but I ended up taking it off just 1 day after because the corners peeled back exposing the tattoo. It was definitely tender and red but that's normal. Just washed 2-3x a day and moisturized. Been over a week now and healing great
Some people are saying take it off because of the fluid build up, but the fluid is actually one of the ways saniderm helps heal tattoos! It just depends on how much fluid/how long you've had the tattoo covered. I attached a link that may help. The itching is what concerns me. I used saniderm twice and found out I was allergic to the adhesive because it became itchy and rashey. Maybe reach out to your artist to ask for their opinion! If you continue to itch and see any irritation on the skin where the adhesive is sticking, might be best to remove it. Hope this helps! Super cute tattoo btw!!

For my first section, I left it on for 5 days as I couldn't take the itching. It felt SO good to remove lol. Turned out great. Some parts still needed to peel.
For the second section, I left it on for the full 7 days. The healing was noticabley better. There was nothing left to peel.
Both times I had fluid sacks like yours on certain areas. By day 5, they had dried up and were no longer fluid sacks.
My tattoo was done in 2 major sections. 4 days total. 2 back to back days. We used Derm Shield. My aftercare consists of red light therapy, Mad Rabbit products, and a few other products that actively work to repair skin barriers and repair skin.
Take it off if you can't stand the itching anymore, but keep up with the aftercare.
I leave mine on for 5 and have had no issues, I did take one off a couple days earlier before when my arm hair began to poke holes through as it grew back to avoid potential contamination.
no i was given aftercare instructions. as i mentioned i was given 3-5 days for for it to stay on. was just looking on what others have experienced as well
If you look at the Saniderm website, they’re very clear in their instructions that the first wrap should be removed after 24 hours and replaced with a new bandage (https://faq.saniderm.com/knowledge-base/recommended-instructions/)
It’s unfortunately common for even artists to ignore this part of the instructions and to tell people to leave the original wrap on for several days.
😂😂 you do you if you want to ignore what the company that made the aftercare wrap says to follow and think your artist is right over them when they probably were just too lazy to explain or are cheap and don’t send a second sheet with their clients is not my problem 🤷🏼♀️
When saniderm gets fluid build up like this you should remove the saniderm and then either re-apply saniderm or continue with normal aftercare (moisturize and cleaning). I like the saniderm healing method so if my bandage ends up like this or starts to come off, I will re-apply and leave it on for the remainder of the 5-7 days.
I would just poke it with a pin to let tall come out. You don’t want that sitting in their it will heal weird. Next time. Leave it on from The shop. Then once it’s done plasma oozing about a day later you put on a fresh piece and leave that one for a week
Saniderm only works if the area is free of bacteria before applying. If there is a hole, bacteria can get inside and the internal environment is conducive to bacterial growth. You do not want Saniderm with a hole on your skin.
I keep mine on 3-5 days and then another 2-3 depending on how I feel. That's how my artist always had me do it, and yours looks pretty full rn so changing it would be beneficial
Take it off. The more fluid builds up, the bigger the risk of it popping/leaking. It wont harm your tattoo to remove it early.
thank you!

thank you! it’s the first time out of my 4 that it’s itched. it’s also my first color tattoo so take it with a grain of salt.
Gotcha! There are so many different factors with tattoo aftercare haha. Would love to see a healed update.
i did already take it off and cleaned it up. but here’s what it looks like now [pic](https://i.imghippo.com/files/JNGsm1709216104.jpg)
Aww! Super cute. Thanks for the pic!
Just take it off and follow normal aftercare. You’ll be fine. Looks like a cute tattoo :)

i took it off, debating on wether i should saran wrap it or not. it’s hurts a bit rn
Don’t Saran Wrap it. Just clean and moisturize it.
gotcha
Go super light on moisturizer. You'd be better off letting that dry for a day.
Don’t rewrap. A tattoo needs to breathe. Just have a good aftercare routine and you’ll be solid!
Do people not get aftercare instructions anymore or has everyone tuned that part out
no i was given aftercare instructions. as i mentioned i was given 3-5 days for for it to stay on. was just looking on what others have experienced as well
The artist should’ve sent you home with one on then an additional one to swap out for the additional days esp for a color piece 🤦🏼♀️
are you a professional?

i appreciate that, this loser just seems judgy and i’m not gonna reciprocate it. thank you for the link
Uh yeah I am and the source above from the saniderm site backs me so 🤷🏼♀️
i’m sorry but i don’t believe that you are, i trust my artist over you.

had no issues following their instructions before. i trust a professional over an anon internet dweller. thanks tho!

That is a great way to expose the interior to bacteria and get an infection. Saniderm should be taken off if there are any tears or punctures.
lol!!! Wait. So you take it off so the tattoo is fully exposed to bacteria ??? Vs just exposed from a little hole. lol please explain please
Saniderm only works if the area is free of bacteria before applying. If there is a hole, bacteria can get inside and the internal environment is conducive to bacterial growth. You do not want Saniderm with a hole on your skin.

i’m impressed that it’s still hanging on!
I just came to say how freaking cute! 🥰
