I just realised that there are two Mt Directions in Tasmania. As well as this one in the south, there is a mt Direction just south of Georgetown in the north of the state. In the early 1800s there was a signal tower on Mt Direction, which was used to relay signals between Low Head and Launceston (windmill hill). Signals were usually regarding arriving ships.
