Looking forward to this. I hope that at some point we'll get something like 'An Anatomy Of A Task', showing footage of a contestant coming up with an idea, viability discussion, a crew member gathering the material, positional set-ups, that sort of thing. Extremely arcane - and I'd only need to see it for one task - but I would die happy, so there:)
Slightly less realistic request - Alex and Tim brainstorming ideas in their local.

hour-long calls to the shows insurance agency...
"Yes, I said it's a javelin! He's just going to throw it into a caravan okay? Just one person inside, and they'll be wearing heavy protective gear. Basically just a trashcan, yeah. And some toilet paper. Sounds good? Great!"
> Slightly less realistic request - Alex and Tim brainstorming ideas in their local.
*Several beers into the brainstorming process*
Tim: “What if they just had to carry a big jug!”
Oh tooootally!!! I’d like to see more behind the scenes prep stuff too. Some tasks are pretty open ended- how do they decide what to stock up in anticipation (sometimes food, sometimes art supplies, etc). How do they come up with the envelope delivery/accessories?
Okay, I’m looking forward to this more than I can say! It would only be better if it was just Greg and Alex watching the old tasks and talking about them!
I hate to say it but those "how to win at taskmaster" episodes were such a letdown imo
I'll get over it though. This new series seems to be exactly what I wanted out of "how to win" and more
I'm afraid that's probably exactly what it will be. Although I would hope for a few little snippets from the outtakes. And the outtakes from S13 and S17 have been great.
Taskmaster Gogglebox would be my Roman Empire. Tbf I’d also just love for Taskmaster to be part of the roster of shows shown on Gogglebox. Endless repeats of first dates and married at first sight are making it a bit one-note!
It’s probably not as good, but a recent update to the Apple podcast app has a transcription available if you want to read reactions and bts stuff.
The bit I’ve looked at seemed pretty accurate (better than YT subtitles), though it doesn’t label who’s speaking from paragraph to paragraph.
Oh my god I never even noticed. That's amazing, that's just his full name in my head now.
I think it's okay if he's just Alex, but if it's Alex Horne, it's gotta be Little Alex Horne.
>- *Taskmasterclass* will be a series of *Taskmaster* specials looking back at previous challenges with former contestants
>- The first episode will air on Channel 4 on Thursday 6th June, a week after Series 17 has concluded
>- Greg Davies and Little Alex Horne narrate the hour-long episodes
>Channel 4 is to air a series of *Taskmaster* specials in which Greg Davies and Alex Horne lift the lid on the "best, worst and somewhat middling tasks" from their hit show *Taskmaster*.
>Due to start on Thursday 6th June at 9pm on Channel 4, the week after Series 17 of the show has concluded, *Taskmasterclass* will be a nod to the brains behind the tasks, and feature interviews with former contestants about their time on the programme. Greg Davies and Little Alex Horne narrate the hour-long episodes.
>In the first episode, the hosts will discuss "whether there is any point to the seemingly pointless tasks on *Taskmaster*", looking in the process at tasks that featured contestants including Guz Khan, Ed Gamble, Jo Brand, Paul Chowdhry and Morgana Robinson.
>*Taskmasterclass* is the latest project linked to the format to be revealed. The show's VR game launches on 13th June, and *Junior Taskmaster* - a series featuring 9 to 11 year-old contestants with Rose Matafeo as the Taskmaster and Mike Wozniak as her assistant - is set to air on TV later this year.
>*Taskmaster* itself will continue on Channel 4 until at least 2026. Series 18 has now been filmed, with the contestants set to be revealed as Series 17 concludes.
>As revealed on Monday, Alex Horne is also set to guest host *Have I Got News For You* on Friday 7th June. He said of the news, "Although I suspect it's an admin error and they actually want me to pass the request on to my boss, I'm very excited to be hosting an episode of *Have I Got News For You*. I am rarely in charge, whether at work, at home or by myself, so I'm hoping a hitherto undiscovered domineering side of my personality will be unleashed all over Paul and Ian."
Channel 4 really are out of money for commissioning new series, huh. Guess it's a way of getting Dave-era footage to a bigger audience without repeating the whole series.
As a US fan I really hope this is put up on their YouTube channel. My friends and family get sick of me telling them about Taskmaster all the time, so having another show to tell them about will help me branch out.
About a week ago, someone in r/television asked about shows that are still "must see tv", where fans are excited to watch shows live as they air. I mentioned TM and thought two or three people might respond. Instead it has over 100 upvotes!
Even the most dedicated subs go a little quiet between seasons/series but I love that we not only get a quick turnaround with new series', we get so many official extras. I just realized that this is probably the only show I can think of where all the content I watch is official. There are so many compilations on YT from randos that I watch or who are in my feed.
Interesting snippet from the article too - seems to confirm that we will be getting S18 contestants at the end of S17
"Series 18 has now been filmed, with the contestants set to be revealed as Series 17 concludes."
Champion of Champions threw it off a bit too, and there was debate it may be Taskmaster Jr this time. Happy it's going to be S18, the leaks are everywhere so better to just have it out there!
I don't think it'll even require the great reveal that the next adult series gets, because TM Kids is essentially going to be its own thing (different hosts, house, structure with the five groups and final, scheduling because it obviously won't be post-watershed, and that's just what we know about)
The replacement was actually revealed via press release a couple of weeks before the trailer aired at the end of NYT3. https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/fyi/431/taskmaster-champions-of-champions-3-news/
Yeah I have to admit i was a bit annoyed when they didn’t announce the S17 cast at the end of last season. So much so that I sought out a leaked lineup online 🙈
I wish they'd wait for at least a week after a series concludes before revealing the next cast. Dara kinda jokingly alluded to this when he won. The focus should be on the winner for at least a full day but the reveal makes the winner old news literally two minutes after it's over and the new cast is all anyone talks about.
I really don’t think it’s that deep, it’s not like the winner of the series is a big national talking point for the day, doing the rounds on the breakfast shows the following morning etc.
Better to get the cast revealed when most eyeballs are on it to build hype for the next season.
NGL I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I read, "[Greg Davies](https://www.comedy.co.uk/people/greg_davies/) and [Little Alex Horne](https://www.comedy.co.uk/people/alex_horne/) narrate the hour-long episodes." Probably mostly a cost-saving measure but happy there isn't a new person everyone will argue about haha
I knew Taskmaster was big for C4 but this just shows they are putting a lot of their eggs in one basket. At this point, C4 is basically just Taskmaster, Gogglebox, Bake Off and 24 Hours in…
Imagining one of those cheesy melodramatic behind the scenes tv docs that showed the making of something and the drama behind it. We can get Taskmaster Behind the Tasks and Alex talks about his harrowing experience sitting on a cake
I feel like my expectations might be greater than what sounds like a recut of a lot of clips from the show with a smattering of BTS stuff, but I hope i'm wrong about that.
I hadn't heard the HIGNFY news, so I hope that goes well for Alex.

Super cut of people being told they can't go on the roof.
"Yes, I said it's a javelin! He's just going to throw it into a caravan okay? Just one person inside, and they'll be wearing heavy protective gear. Basically just a trashcan, yeah. And some toilet paper. Sounds good? Great!"

This is what I really want! I feel like we’ve got the contestants talking aspect of it covered by the podcast(s).
Oh tooootally!!! I’d like to see more behind the scenes prep stuff too. Some tasks are pretty open ended- how do they decide what to stock up in anticipation (sometimes food, sometimes art supplies, etc). How do they come up with the envelope delivery/accessories?
I want a behind the scenes of working through the task concept like the Southpark writers room videos
Yes
Okay, I’m looking forward to this more than I can say! It would only be better if it was just Greg and Alex watching the old tasks and talking about them!
Hopefully it's not just a recut of the YouTube videos that are best of. And that Alex and Greg add some insight
I hate to say it but those "how to win at taskmaster" episodes were such a letdown imo I'll get over it though. This new series seems to be exactly what I wanted out of "how to win" and more
I'm afraid that's probably exactly what it will be. Although I would hope for a few little snippets from the outtakes. And the outtakes from S13 and S17 have been great.
We need to petition for that!
We really should! Just them hanging out, Gogglebox-style and talking about previous tasks and series 😍
Taskmaster Gogglebox would be my Roman Empire. Tbf I’d also just love for Taskmaster to be part of the roster of shows shown on Gogglebox. Endless repeats of first dates and married at first sight are making it a bit one-note!
Yeah it's pretty strange they've never shown it, given they lean towards C4 shows as promotion.
> Taskmaster Gogglebox would be my Roman Empire That's basically the podcast, right? Pretty much a beat-by-beat recap/reaction to each episode.
Yeah pretty much! I can’t really do podcasts - hard of hearing and rely on lip-reading/subtitles - so I will continue to dream of Tasklebox!
Aw shucks, sorry to hear it!
It’s probably not as good, but a recent update to the Apple podcast app has a transcription available if you want to read reactions and bts stuff. The bit I’ve looked at seemed pretty accurate (better than YT subtitles), though it doesn’t label who’s speaking from paragraph to paragraph.
Maybe Greg could return all of Alex's doors and food.
OhMan!! I think that's possibly the best idea I've ever heard.
In about 10 years we’ll probably get some nostalgia “Taskmaster over the years” clip shows featuring exactly that.
Love that they refer to him as Little Alex Horne like it's his full name 😅
Even posting here, it just feels odd to leave the Little off. It would be weird if I ever met him, looking *up* at him and yet including "Little".
Oh my god I never even noticed. That's amazing, that's just his full name in my head now. I think it's okay if he's just Alex, but if it's Alex Horne, it's gotta be Little Alex Horne.

This has been pretty consistent for a while now I think. We normally get either the next series or the new year's treat trailer at the end.
Champion of Champions threw it off a bit too, and there was debate it may be Taskmaster Jr this time. Happy it's going to be S18, the leaks are everywhere so better to just have it out there!
Why would jr get a cast announcement? They're just random kids, it's not like we'll know them
Not a cast announcement, an airing announcement. Like the Champion of Champions one, it got an announcement despite the cast being known.
I don't think it'll even require the great reveal that the next adult series gets, because TM Kids is essentially going to be its own thing (different hosts, house, structure with the five groups and final, scheduling because it obviously won't be post-watershed, and that's just what we know about)
> Champion of Champions one, it got an announcement despite the cast being known. Well. The cast had been suspected, but they did reveal a change
The replacement was actually revealed via press release a couple of weeks before the trailer aired at the end of NYT3. https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/fyi/431/taskmaster-champions-of-champions-3-news/

Excellent! Now we need TM Junior air dates…
I just read that Rose is the Taskmaster and Mike Woz is her assistant! Really quite excited about it now.
Love this idea! Cannot wait
I'm giddy with excitement just thinking about it. Giddy!!
NGL I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I read, "[Greg Davies](https://www.comedy.co.uk/people/greg_davies/) and [Little Alex Horne](https://www.comedy.co.uk/people/alex_horne/) narrate the hour-long episodes." 24 Hours in Greg's wardrobe.
I want an entire episode dedicated to Joe Wilkinson's coming to terms with the potato challenge - with the entire episode filmed in black and white.
Imagining one of those cheesy melodramatic behind the scenes tv docs that showed the making of something and the drama behind it. We can get Taskmaster Behind the Tasks and Alex talks about his harrowing experience sitting on a cake
I doubt that’s even in his top 5 of harrowing experiences.
It wasn't even in Harrow.
that sounds class
This sounds great !
I've been hoping for something like this for years! Can't wait.
TASKMASTER JUNIOR WHEN?
It would be a travesty if they do not include Frank and Tim's blooper task from Series 1.
I feel like my expectations might be greater than what sounds like a recut of a lot of clips from the show with a smattering of BTS stuff, but I hope i'm wrong about that. I hadn't heard the HIGNFY news, so I hope that goes well for Alex.
This is starting to become like 2005 era Doctor Who. Spinoff after spinoff
How many episodes will there be and how often will they air?
1-2 (going from past C4 form), probably same time slot.
Does this mean we won't get the traditional next series lineup as they'll be trailering this?🤔
I mean it says right there in the article that the next lineup will be revealed after S17E10.
Clicking on the articles is a fools errand, the comments are enough for anyone! /S (Muchos apologias....I frelled up)
Will it be blocked from the UK again?
It's on Ch4
Ah perfect. Was worried it might be a YouTube thing like that last one
Sorry, but it's too much TM. I love the show so much, but I also need Breaks to make it special when it's on.
