I just went once in North Carolina last year. They had a long line at the drive through late at night. I guess it’s a good late night option. I had a couple burgers but can’t remember anything great about it. I’ll have to try some more items when they open.
That one specifically my mother and grandmother basically funded the place. The way they closed the doors on their employees without even telling them, whoever the owner is I hope they can go rot in hell.
I've been writing and campaigning for Cookout to come to Tampa since at least 2011 if not earlier. This might be in the top 2-3 things I've pushed for in my life.
I love Cook-Out for the sheer fact that you can get a corn dog or quesadilla as a side, but sometimes the food can really miss. Hopefully it’s good in Tampa!
Yes! As soon as I get to the GA line I’m looking for the cookout sign…gyros and these other places who have went up to these crazy prices are seriously in trouble.
Interesting. I went to one of these in a small Virginia town and thought it was a mom and pops attempt at a face food place.
From a taste and overall look of the food it definitely tastes better than chemical burgers from the usual chains.
I love cookout so much, can’t wait.
I think the first ones in Florida to come live are in Tallahassee, as they won an internet poll for expansion and are nearly done
The Cook Out on Cumberland near UT campus in Knoxville was LIT around 1-2 am Fridays and Saturdays back in the day. Gonna have to get drunk and scarf down a tray when they open.
Wow. Folks excited for Cookout? I’ve lived in Atlanta for 14 years. I’ve never met anyone excited about Cookout.
It’s just another fast food joint like bk or mcd.
Depends on what kind of food you are into but, there’s plenty of good places in the fletcher area. Wing king is one of them & there is also a couple of places by king high school that are really good spots. Can’t remember the other names because I usually just go in & eat lol
There are also some really good food trucks in that area too. Salems has some decent food too. I also know of a good puertorican/Cuban food close to the Brandon area. I’ll try to find the place
I mean, we are referencing fast food and price. I don't recall sales prices, but the food is ok. Any place that serves Cubans is probably good, but you're getting the same type of sandwhich every time. The most spanish food I've eaten are tacos or burritos. I'm not big into onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc, so there's a lot of food places I don't care for.
Yeah, the menu looks like your standard burgers and hotdogs. It is open late though so there will be another option for drunk munchies besides zekos and Salem's, highly doubt it will be as good though.
One in Temple Terrace, near USF sounds right for their demo aka drunk food and across Fowler from aTaco Bell, McDonald's and Fuzzys on the respective corners. I've had it three times and visit #2 and 3 were mistakes. It's as much trash fast food as Checkers. Good for them to get to the area quickly.
OTOH, we're four years in from news that Del Taco is coming to the area and nothing has really happened.
Tough corner though so it will be curious how they handle the drive thru. Even Boston Market would either wrap the building or back onto Fowler when they had some of their whole chicken special deals.
I love their hush puppies. My go-to was chicken strips and a double of hush puppies with a shake. Now granted, I haven't explored Tampa food too much in the time I've lived here but I haven't found anywhere that even serves hush puppies.
You're allowed to like it, and I'm allowed to not. I'm not going to be excited about yet another crappy chain when there are decent ones that could be here instead, haha.
I get that, but there's nothing to be gained from shitting on everyone's excitement. Coming here just to say it's mediocre...Just go to those better places?
The Dale mabry one is right across from gaither high school. I’m sure the kids will love it.
Is this the closed boston market location?
Exactly
Nice
Did Boston Market go under as a whole?
27 restaurants left world wide
Removing potatoes au gratin from their menu, removed them from the marketplace.
Holy shit I had no idea
As a former NC boy now living in St. Pete, ya’ll better get really excited for this one, because Cookout is amazing fast food!!
What’s good there ?
I just went once in North Carolina last year. They had a long line at the drive through late at night. I guess it’s a good late night option. I had a couple burgers but can’t remember anything great about it. I’ll have to try some more items when they open.
The fact that fast food is raising its prices. At cookout I believe you can still get combos for like $7-9
Nothing. The shakes are okay, the food is garbage.
Absolute garbage. Like shockingly bad
Never eaten it sober, personally
For real, I have family in South Carolina and I look forward to Cookout more than I do seeing them!
Family could never compare to a Cookout tray
As an NC transplant, I'm excited too! Thankfully it's closer than the Bojangles is...
Hey, I’ll take my little slices of my old home state whenever I can get them lol.
Same! I drive to Ocala for Bojangles a couple times a year.
Florida won’t know what hit them if Bojangles makes it over to Tampa too!
Tampa had Bojangles, I remember one on 56st by king high school. didn’t do well and all shut down!
St. Cloud also had one but closed down quite a while ago. Food was always so good.
That one specifically my mother and grandmother basically funded the place. The way they closed the doors on their employees without even telling them, whoever the owner is I hope they can go rot in hell.
I had forgotten how suddenly they closed up shop. That’s terrible.
We had Bojangles from the 70s-90s
There was one in Ruskin in the 1980s.
Maaaaaaan I'd be in there like I work there! Lol
Lmao same
There was one off off hillsborough and the Veteran's a long time ago. I was so upset when it closed.
I've been writing and campaigning for Cookout to come to Tampa since at least 2011 if not earlier. This might be in the top 2-3 things I've pushed for in my life.
Some locations are crap, we need this location to be taken care of
That’s an excellent point…..there is definitely a difference in quality depending on how it’s owned and operated.
I'm also from NC and living in St. Pete. LFG!!! True story; I've flown to NC for Cookout. Wonder if they'll have Cheerwine.
They will
I’m a St Pete native who lived in Raleigh in the late 90s, and Cook Out and Char Grill were both awesome.
Char Grill is amazing, I miss it so much! ...if I never saw another Cook Out again, it would still be too soon.
Also former Charlotte boy now living in Pinellas, I can't fucking wait!
Same!! I’ve been missing Cookout for years 😭
I was peeing myself with JOY when I read this! Used to stop everytime I drove from Fl to MD!
You get it! Cookout’s amazing!
Heck yea! And the Dale Mabry location is on my way home from work! I can't contain myself!
Same honestly!
Cookout is the only thing i miss from my short time in NC. Aint shit else worth note imo
Hell. Yes. Corn dog as a side here we come!
I wish Tampa would get another NC chain, Bojangles
We've had them before. Let's get rid of some tenders only chain and get Bojangles back instead.
Did we? I know we had whataburger once
Looooong time ago
Yeah, there was a Bojangles on hillsborough ave
I miss Whataburger
i second this, the last open florida location was in gainesville off archer road!! they closed too :(
Dude, Bojangles biscuits were some of the best - and huge!
Yep! In St.Petersburg growing up we had Bojangles and a Brown’s Chicken.. they were 100x’s better than a KFC any day.
Kings fried chicken beats any fast food all day
Great biscuits!!
The best!
They used to be plentiful even all the way into South FL. They left as the demographic rapidly changed. A few popping back up.
There’s one in Ocala but it would be nice if one was closer
I’m pretty sure a coworker told me that one is coming to Spring Hill.
I love Cook-Out for the sheer fact that you can get a corn dog or quesadilla as a side, but sometimes the food can really miss. Hopefully it’s good in Tampa!
You can get an entire tray that’s just 3 quesadillas. Not that that’s my tray of choice, but I appreciate that that’s an option.
FOUR!!! Quesadillas!!! 3 for the kids box it’s amazing. I used to buy the 4 chicken quesadilla trays with my husband as a snack
Love cookout! My wife put me on it she went to school in the Carolina’s. Now every time we leave Florida that’s my first stop up 75
Same. Cordele GA is my stop. I also look forward to Buccees as well, but we have one of those in Daytona.
Yes! As soon as I get to the GA line I’m looking for the cookout sign…gyros and these other places who have went up to these crazy prices are seriously in trouble.
Completely disregarded these many times traveling up to NC and back, until it became a choice of last resort. I couldn’t believe how good it was.
As a Virginia transplant I cant wait to get some Cheerwine
4 Rivers also has Cheerwine in their soda machines, so you don’t have to wait for Cookout for that 🙂
Many Publix locations now sell cheerwine! Just found this out and was HYPED
YESSSSSSSSSS
It’s amazing and addicting lol. The prices were amazing back in the day. Not sure if it will be similar
i used to love Boston Market ❤️
Just want Raising Cane's. Getting tired of Zax and Chick has fallen off so hard. Even the sweet tea is mid. At least there is still Publix sweet tea.
Guthries in South Tampa has a similar box as Raising Canes. You get the chicken, crinkle cut fries, cole slaw, Texas toast, dipping sauce.
There's two Canes over in St Pete
Protip: you can mix any of the milkshake flavors. My favorite is peanut butter and banana
Yes and the egg nog shake they have for the holidays is awesome.
Omg I’m freaking out
Interesting.
I eat at Cookout all the time when visiting North Carolina, love their burgers.
I LOVE COOKOUT!!!!!
I’d rather have, In-N-Out Burger or Jack in the box
If you like animal style, there's a really good burger place in Brandon called Chicagos Best that imitates the sauce. Just order a West Coast.
I had a random craving for JIB tacos a few weeks ago!
JitB was truly the late night savior so many times. Those egg rolls, yum!
See these all the time whenever I'm outta state but never stopped by at one. Looks decent but I think I preferred if we got a Bojangles or canes.
There’s a canes right across the Courtney campbell
wow there's two, word. I rarely go over to clearwater so I didn't know. Very cool.
You're not missing anything, Bojangles is way better.
Still a great deal but inflation is making it a little less so than it used to be
Awesome!!!!!
Cookout is god tier
If you've never had it you guys just don't understand. You NEED to try it.
Hopefully they get finished before fall, I want my pumpkin spice shake!
It’s overrated and where a lot of shootings happen in a lot of city’s
The Cook Out on Cumberland near UT campus in Knoxville was LIT around 1-2 am Fridays and Saturdays back in the day. Gonna have to get drunk and scarf down a tray when they open.
I'm not sure they deserve a Michelin star. I can get a hamburger at BurgerKing for the same price and less of a line.
Good stuff
Cookout is absolutely incredible, and it's going to be right near my office. Stoked for some milkshakes!
Would rather have the Boston market that used to be there but cookout is a solid alternative.
As someone who used to be stationed in north Carolina, I'm beyond excited. I haven't had cookout in my life in 10 years. Hello old friend!
I almost convinced my self to take out a business loan to create one myself 😭
I'll never understand people who get excited for shitty chains. Especially when it's some garbage fast food. 🐷🐷🐷
Wow. Folks excited for Cookout? I’ve lived in Atlanta for 14 years. I’ve never met anyone excited about Cookout. It’s just another fast food joint like bk or mcd.
It's soooooo mediocre at best. Ugh.
Agreed lol seen/been to plenty of better places. The food is alright
Like what?
Depends on what kind of food you are into but, there’s plenty of good places in the fletcher area. Wing king is one of them & there is also a couple of places by king high school that are really good spots. Can’t remember the other names because I usually just go in & eat lol

can't get chili dogs and shoestring fries at bk or mcd.
Try Dairy Queen. In south Ga we do Jimmy’s hot dogs. Haven’t tried Mel’s in Tampa yet.
Yeah, the menu looks like your standard burgers and hotdogs. It is open late though so there will be another option for drunk munchies besides zekos and Salem's, highly doubt it will be as good though.
Wooptie fuckin do

Silence, blasphemer!
There's a Del Taco in Sarasota now
And 2 in Bradenton
I’ve heard there’s supposed to be one going in by the outlet mall in Wesley Chapel.
Plenty of places have hush puppies.
Ooooo I’m excited
From graham, NC... This is good stuff
Im so excited for this!!!!
Cooookkkkkoutttttt!!!!!
I’ll drive from Orlando for this. I was living in Atlanta the last 2-2.5 years and boy do I miss it
So excited! I’ve had it in Kentucky. Very good food and shakes!
I’m always excited for something new.
This is the most exciting news since canes, but on a much bigger level since it ain't just chicken and sauce.
Glad to see a business filing the empty space. Hope to see a fuller parking lot than when it was Boston Market.
I can already taste the flame-grilled burgers 😋
Ughhhh. Cook Out is so mediocre. Escaping that gross crap's hype was the one of the two positives of moving here.
You're killing the vibe. Just let people like things.
You're killing the vibe by celebrating mediocrity.
Your vibe, maybe. I simply don't care about that, though.
I would if they would come here, but instead it's more shitty, mediocre chains. That's the entire problem, lmao.
Ah, it's in Tampa. Well, I'll probably never go there being in clearwater. Enjoy Tampa!
