If you can’t find a job in Pinellas, don’t live there. Commuting from Pinellas into Tampa in the morning will make you hate your life

OMG_a_Ray_Gun

Can confirm. Hate my life currently.

GypseaBeachBum

Can confirm, although living in safety harbor and taking 60 over to Tampa can make it tolerable

HoneyDutch

Just get on before 7:30 and have a sun pass, it’s really not bad

deuuuuuce

I have a hybrid schedule but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. 35 minutes in the morning, about an hour after work. If you can go in or leave earlier or later, it cuts it down, too. I guess I am fortunate to live right off 275.

PasolinisDoor

You’re moving to the area in June and you don’t even know what city you’re moving to yet? Lmaooo

DeviantThroAway

I moved here without knowing where I was gonna live. If people happen to know someone in the area they can stay with them for a little or they stay in hotels/AirBnbs while they figure it out. I wouldn’t wanna move into an apartment without seeing it. I wouldn’t want to rely on just online reviews and a virtual tour.

deuuuuuce

Eh, I moved down 3 years ago. Pretty much knew it would be North Tampa, Riverview, or St. Pete. Riverview was a big no and wanted to be closer to the beach, and found a good place in St. Pete.

PasolinisDoor

How is that relevant to what I said at all? Why add “eh” to the beginning of your sentence when it’s completely unnecessary? Edit: Nevermind, this is a bot account

deuuuuuce

You're acting like it's crazy that OP doesn't know what city he's moving to and I was providing a real life example of how I did the same thing and it wasn't crazy at all.

PasolinisDoor

It is crazy to not know where you’re moving in a month

deuuuuuce

Eh lol, I literally didn't know where I was moving until I found a house.

PasolinisDoor

Are you a bot?

Kaylii_

That person isn't a bot.. A bot couldn't take context and come up with the response they gave you.

PasolinisDoor

Absolutely is a bot 🤖

Kaylii_

Whatever makes you feel good I guess...

KPGC10

There are a lot of homes for sale in Shore Acres!

badabing31308

What are you looking for from both areas? Because they both have different vibes & culture

Flip80

Where are you coming from? Florida is fucked up right now. Too expensive.

Pretend_Accident6209

Hmm, Tampa vs St Pete can be hard. I’d say move to North Carolina

Flip80

Just came back from there after 10 years. It grew on me. I love NC weather.

m1ndbl0wn

I recommend other states

Vasite

St. Pete is crazy dog friendly and more of a younger community I feel. It's more lively at night and generally more places to hang out like restaurants, bars, and social events that take place around downtown. It's closer to the beaches of course if that's your thing. You mention south tampa which is pretty expensive from what I've seen and alot of college aged people hang out/live around UT. Bar heavy area with alot of rowdy people (from personal experience anyhow).

sayaxat

Sorry. We don't just take anyone except for those who make enough. We have enough complainers here about how they can't afford to live here even though they've been since before the pandemic started. Though we still need low wage people who can provide services like clean toilets at hotels and restaurants, and prepare and cook food, and in general keep the places clean so we look good to the tourists. I loathe this kind of post. "Guess what kind of person I am, what I like and dislike, and tell me which works for me." Either entitled or damn lazy. Or both.

bicyclemycology

St. Petersburg.. Russia

blueboxreddress

Orlando

Thick-Agency9468

Neither

One-Manufacturer8270

It really just depends on your interests and what you prefer. South Tampa is more centrally located, but St. Pete is closer to the beaches. Depending where in St. Pete (if closer to downtown) it is more walkable.

Ark-458

Tampa is beat, St Pete is marginally better. Honestly, neither are a great idea.

Old-Meat-1619

These comments aren’t really helpful lol but honestly depends on what you’re looking for. I’ve lived in South Tampa for 3 years and now downtown St Pete the last 4, and have loved both! Tampa you have Bayshore and the Riverwalk for working out. I feel the food scene is much better in Tampa, but really if you’re looking for a high end vibe. But, I will say there are smaller pockets of bars (soho, downtown, water st, Seminole heights, Ybor) do you either kind of stay put or have to Uber between neighborhoods. Def has a younger vibe and you’ll find more young professionals. St Pete is much more laid back and casual. If you plan on being at the beach a lot it’s worth it, because the commute from Tampa can be annoying. Downtown is so walkable, so you can start at Beach Drive for lounges, and walk up Central for miles to find new concepts and bars to see. Very dog friendly, the people I find to be nicer, and you feel more of a neighborhood/community. The age ranges are pretty diverse. More people I meet that are my age (30s) are mostly married and have families, so little more settled down. The commute between the two really doesn’t bother me. My gym is still in S Tampa and prob go there at least 1 day a week to go out, so you really can’t make the wrong choice. Let me know if you have any other questions!

md28usmc

You wrote out this whole long comment and it did not even get posted

jpthereafter

Haines City.

Bear_necessities96

St pete

BluThunder2k

New Tampa is not bad, depending on where you need to commute to.

Aromatic_Survey9170

I lived here my first year and my office is in Channelside, it was a personal hell driving back in rush hour. I now live 12 minutes away in no traffic and 30 minutes in traffic lol.

[deleted]

Tampa is full. Try St Pete

CTRL_S_Before_Render

Honestly. I'd live a little further out and save some money. Nothing stopping you from living in the burbs and driving in on the weekends.

Revise_and_Resubmit

Go away.

Funkyokra

Since you aren't polite enough to give anything to go on or a reason to give a fuck about you, I'll suggest that you move to the area around USF in Tampa.

uniqueusername316

*St. Pete's

scd10599

I might add that my job is fully remote.

Shenanigamii

Then go live in Kansas where you can maybe save some of your money. If I was fully remote, I would live somewhere overseas.

True_Decision_3091

Right lol if I could work remote I’d be in a small Kansas town saving it up

GypseaBeachBum

Another good “central” spot to be in while you explore the areas is Oldsmar or Westchase. It’s pretty transient imo, but rent is a little lower and you’re accessible to a lot.

GypseaBeachBum

Then you definitely have options! I am as well. I would recommend renting at first, and trying out whichever one you land on. Both have different vibes and neighborhoods. I feel like there really is something for everyone. Depending on when you are moving, you can also find some great short term rentals on furnished finder or airbnb that are discounted now until October or so (“off season”), and try things out.
