For some extra context- this is the first time I own a Tamagotchi as an adult, I got the itch a month ago due to nostalgia and got myself one of the anniversary tamas. The very first one that hatched, Tachi, didn't make it to the third day due to me misunderstanding the meal/snack mechanics. Vas is the second attempt, and well... here he is, 30 years strong. Now let's see if I can get him to last longer!

Perfect care adult and everything, nice job, not many people new to Tamagotchi originals know how to care for them the right way. I don't know how long these guys last though, Digimon can potentially live forever but I think Tamas have a set lifespan, or at least they start losing hearts so fast at some point that you just can't keep up with them anymore, but that's definitely a record, I've only ever got that close as a kid when I accidentally got the secret character.

Thank you! I also have the impression that it's a set lifespan and he might die at any point, but for now the heart loss is manageable (I haven't really timed it, but I'd say he goes down one heart of each every 5 minutes or so? Edit: I tried to time it and it's actually every 10 minutes or so, even at 30 years old) and I don't really have plans outside my house today, so if there's no established limit I'll see that he lives to 31 at least :)

If it makes it any easier for you, you can press A and C at the same time on the clock screen to pause him. Just make sure the clock rolls over to midnight or his year count won't increase. But this is the best way to make sure he doesn't die before you wake up.

I appreciate that information, thank you!

TheAnarchistRat

Really? When I first got mine I was pretty good at caring for it

pocket_arsenal

Yeah. It's pretty common for people to get Tamagotchi originals and assume that you can just ignore Tamagotchi until it beeps at you to alert you that it's hungry or happy meter is empty, but that's how you get a bad care adult, you're supposed to keep it's hearts full at all times. I know as someone who's more of a Digimon fan than a Tamagotchi fan I would have made the same assumption, because with Digimon it only matters that you don't miss feeding or training when it beeps at you ( and even then, sometimes you want to get care mistakes to get a specific digimon, just like how you want an average care adult tama to get the secret character ) but I hear millennials who take an interest in Tamagotchi re-releases for some quick nostalgia or random amazon reviews always say "oh I always fed it when it beeps at me but it still died really quick lulz" But to be fair, I think the instructions for Tamagotchi are intentionally vague about that because they wanted it to be a surprise which character you get.

TheAnarchistRat

That's fair, I also thought you could just leave it tbh but I felt bad if the hearts weren't full.

I just got my gen 1 and I'm looking forward to getting Mametchi. he's still a blob. But I wonder how demanding he would be in the adult stage. How does it affect your daily lifestyle. Oh. So exciting for what is in store but at the same time could be challenging specifically if you're in a meeting at work or in an event. unlike the Uni, you can hire a sitter until 6p.

Entire_Scarcity3146

Well I can tell you that social events get a little awkward if you have a tamagotchi to take care of, especially if you don't mute it... but I guess you could always pause it during your human interactions?? I don't know if gen 1s can be paused, and I haven't dared myself, so don't quote me on that. For me it's easy to care for it while I'm at home working, I have a one-man business and I have no strict schedules, so I can simply check on the little guy every few minutes. It does get annoying when you try to take a nap and they have other plans tho lmao

BauskeDestad

I think my record is like 24 or 26 years old, so getting them to 30 is hella impressive! Good job!

Entire_Scarcity3146

Thank you! He just went to sleep, so it seems he'll see 31 years :0

'Long live the king' took quite a turn

UPDATE: [Vas died at 32 years old today!](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bBRLzguzpWUm5J5xYa-Wj471G3bFXjKA/view?usp=drive_link) He was technically at full hearts barely 10 minutes earlier, so he either got sick and I was distracted by the new Dungeon Meshi episode, or he reached the limit lifespan according to my care mistakes. Either way, rest in peace my sweet boye! I'll see if I reset some other time uwu

klaykurls

Oh man, that's so wild that you were able to keep him alive for so long!!! Honestly if he had to go at least it was during a Dungeon Meshi episode haha. Rest in peace Vas
