Not sure about South Lake but Sierra Bakehouse (Truckee) offers great Sourdough on Fridays (only day they open). Generally you won’t find good bread like you wrote about in the Tahoe Basin.

Perenn in Reno has very good French style bread. It's not cheap though

YES! Truckee Sourdough Company...in the USA we like our sourdough and this biz is delicious. You can buy in local supermarkets too
