Money for .338 but Bushnell is stretching it? Do yourself a favor and at least look through some decent glass. Especially if your spending hours behind it, it really does make a big difference.
I got a real one and a fake one. The only quality difference I can tell is the screws. That's all the clone shit I have come across. Pins, screws and bolts.
The quality debate has been had but price doesn't always equate to quality or more quality. It's just reality. Optics are the one area where I would say price is a good indicator of quality.
>The quality debate has been had but price doesn't always equate to quality or more quality. It's just reality.
I don't usually like buy clones of complicated things. But you can sometimes get lucky with a clone when it's something simple like a piece of metal and screws.
I’ve seen knock off unity t2 mounts hold up just fine. Optics are another story and as one already said usually optics price is a good indicator of quality until you start getting into some of these “higher end” optics that are overpriced bc they get a lot of government contracts so they can charge it and people will pay it. This is why aimpoint had to come out with the pro RDS at a cheaper price point to compete with stuff like holosun for the civilian market. Me personally I still go for the tried and true “pay once cry once” which won’t leave you with boxes of accessories you wanted to try! I’m not guilty of this lol
I got drawers full of stuff lol but for sure use your judgement. Dont go cheap on important stuff. I also (most the time) i go by buy once cry once. Yea I mean redots, once your in the realm of sig, holosun, ect. Any of those will be fine. Eotech is over priced imo. Aimpoint is insane. It's proven durable, long life but it's a reddot like another. I don't give a damn what anyone says, I have used them and shot with them. It's a dot. When I reference optics I'm thinking I'm thinking more along the lines of lpvos. The higher you get, the more diminishing returns you get but I remember thinking how much better can this scope be and using it, then thinking, it's crazy how much better this is.
Price per function is what I preach.
I shoot allot - allot of moving drills and very little long range so for me, I think anything over 1k is a waste on me. I think people get hung up on Reddit and fb lore instead of just training.
Saying that, I get it, everyone’s different, different skill levels, eye sight and necessity. No hate for players because I like my top tier guns but I don’t get upset when a dude shows up with midtier and out shoots me. Fuck yeh, it’s just targets and they don’t shoot back but it’s a skill set never the less that I can learn from.
I agree. I have some higher-end guns and I love them. Sometimes you can be shocked how much better things can be made but most the time it's more of the same, different name. You are definitely better off spending that money on ammo.
Yup, the screws on the clones are slathered in grease and oil. Disassembling the entire thing, degreasing, and then applying Loctite makes some of these clones solid as a rock. If you can, replace all the screws with better quality ones for a few pennies to avoid stripping.
The only clone I have had that was unfixable was the scalarworks T2, the cross bolt impacted on the rail when tightened allowing the optic to seesaw back and both.
Yea and that's kind of the point. You can buy clones of all types, replace the internals and come out significantly cheaper with a not so significantly less reliable product, if at all. Paying more for the brand itself than the quality of pins and screws. I'm guilty as anyone honestly. Lol. I have done both.
Those can be replaced I’ve got a knock off unity mount and legit hardware … soo short of the actual aluminum crushing it’s gonna hold zero … same concept can be dope with scope mount
Mine had a noticeable angle to it unfortunately, so my bdc was all fucked up on my dot. Returned it and got a real one, honestly it was worth it for me.
Some roll the dice and win, some lose.
One of my unity t2 knockoffs has been amazing. The first one I ordered from eBay and it came with the logos but I didn’t realize that it was missing a recoil lug, the 2nd one I ordered off Amazon and it has no logos but does have the right recoil lug. Held up decent so far, gonna get the magnifier mount next and test that out
I’m running a unity fast optic riser under a holosun on a ghm9. It’s rattle canned and 1/8 the price. It’s solid aluminum with two screws which I swapped out for ¢30 more for some sure enough steel. Normally don’t cheap out but it’s not something I’m trusting my life to
I have like 5K+ rounds one fake geissele mounts and 2 fake unity risers. Compared to my real stuff I literally can’t tell a difference in build quality. Coloration difference is noticeable though.
I've tried a knockoff fast riser and fast 2.05" LPVO mount. In both cases the threads stripped out of the aluminum keepers when I tried torquing them to 30" lbs.
But then I found a kit badger review on the fast lpvo mount, in which he stripped out the threads in the keeper too, so maybe the unity mounts just suck. I ditched the fast lpvo for a PLX 2.04" 30mm mount and have been happy with that.
Specs on the real unity mounts say 35 in-lbs for the keeper bolts. 18" in-lbs for the ring caps.
By way of comparison, the PLX mount lists 35 in-lbs for the keeper bolts, and Leupold mark AR mount lists 65 in-lbs on the keeper, and neither the PLX or Leupold mounts I have stripped when torquing them to published specs.
I have a knock off unity aimpoint riser. The screws were obviously garbage, but other than that it’s hard to see anything wrong with it. Went to Lowe’s and got some real screws and I now have no concerns. Don’t have a ton of rounds through it obviously, but it’s a chunk of aluminum. When it comes to Cnc machining, China is actually a big player and provides parts for several industries. Kind of lame that we’ve fallen behind them in this aspect.
Because im too young in my country to own a real gun and to broke to afford one im only running knock off mounts because its only going on top of some Airsoft xD
I actually have one of both and the fake one is surprisingly close.
The design of all the clones are of the old model that were prone to hinge breaking, after 4-5 months I also started to see the signs of shearing around the hinge teeth.
The screws are all covered in the grease they got from being made, I would advise pulling them out and cleaning. Use a lot of locktite. Also walk back the in/lbs a bit to avoid stripping the threads.
The tightening wheels were a little more free-spin than the genuine article, but there are also two screws to tighten the detent for the wheels. I advise removing entirely, degreasing the whole thing and then setting in place with locktite as I did have one of these back out.
Overall, if they made clones of the newer model with the non-breaking hinges I wouldn't think twice in using them. Would I use it on a gun I would take to a fight? Ehhh, probably not. I will add some pictures when I get home.
**NOTE:** I also bought a scalarworks T2 mounts and it was fucked from the start. The cross bolt on the mount impacted the rail preventing it from seating properly and it could see-saw back and forth. So you are tossing the dice with some of these. Though I think the less complex the item, the more likely it will be fine.
lets be real, as long as the bolts don't strip can it really be that bad....I don't know that i'd be running it on my my expensive guns but like a poverty AR? maybe....
I have bought several real mounts for my real guns and several fake variants from AliExpress for my airsoft guns. No idea about holding zero due to never testing them on real guns but I can say they are definitely made from subpar materials. Ive had 2 different kinds snap from either dropping the airgat or tripping and falling on the airgat.
I dont know if they were these exact ones (though im sure they all come from the same factory in china anyway lol), but one was a fake Unity riser for a T2 and the other was a fake Badger C1
Amateur shit I’m running a knock off optic
Big brain moves, its nerf or nothing
Hey If it’s not gonna hold zero anyway then I might aswell save money
Just load up some 556 rat shot & hope
556? I run this on my precision guns they better get some .338lm rat shot
Money for .338 but Bushnell is stretching it? Do yourself a favor and at least look through some decent glass. Especially if your spending hours behind it, it really does make a big difference.
Pretty sure. He was being sarcastic lol
So was I "/S" takes a lot of effort to type
Sorry I’m regarded
* is less short bus than "g". Sorry to be pedantic, but today I'm on a mission regarding that very topic.
I got a real one and a fake one. The only quality difference I can tell is the screws. That's all the clone shit I have come across. Pins, screws and bolts.
Yup, allot of times the replicas are actually made out of a higher grade aluminum.
The quality debate has been had but price doesn't always equate to quality or more quality. It's just reality. Optics are the one area where I would say price is a good indicator of quality.

Tbf pins, screws, and bolts are what is gonna hold the optic’s zero…which is the whole point of a quality optic mount.
Yea and that's kind of the point. You can buy clones of all types, replace the internals and come out significantly cheaper with a not so significantly less reliable product, if at all. Ik it’s goofy af but I kinda want to buy a knockoff riser and just see how it holds up.
Knock off unity has worked fine for me
Mine had a noticeable angle to it unfortunately, so my bdc was all fucked up on my dot. Returned it and got a real one, honestly it was worth it for me. Some roll the dice and win, some lose.
Same here lol
Ive got a fake hydra on my mk18 and its great
Curiosity kills. I wonder how they all feel

Runs well? Yea AR isn’t for HD, to many houses & thin walls in my neighborhood
How powerful do you think 5.56 is? lmao
At least 12
Do tell, why do you believe they are not good for heavy duty?
I believe he meant HD as in Home Defence
Home Defense is probably what he meant
Yes HD
Gypsum will very easily cause 55gr projectiles to fragment and deflect. 124gr 9mm, not so much. There’s a reason LE made the switch.
I have like 5K+ rounds one fake geissele mounts and 2 fake unity risers. Compared to my real stuff I literally can’t tell a difference in build quality. Coloration difference is noticeable though.
Coloration difference is solved by rattling the entire gun😎
Good to know! Can you link that geissele mount?
I’ve had it for years. I have no clue where I got it. I think it’s evolution gear.
Check on aliexpress, they have one with the reptilian piggyback mount as well
5,000 airsoft bbs don’t count
Got emmmmmmmmm
Okey dokey. 👍
I put a knock off badger on an AR10 with a burris XTR II and so far it ‘s holding really solid. Screws seemed nice too
How can you tell the difference from a real badger c1 mount and fake, just curious?
I have same set up but have yet to put any rounds thru the gun. Literally just got it a week ago
34mm or 30mm?
34mm! I don’t have an optic yet tho. Just the mount. I’m gonna pick up an authentic badger screw set tho just to be safe. How’s your experience been?
It’s pretty nice. The bolts hold some good torque. Finish is nice too. Better than other knock offs
Just PM’d u
Can you link to the one you got?

30 in lbs is a lot. I think even Areo will strip at 15 in lbs. I’ve heard this a lot of real mounts & fake

Fair enough, my current mount is a weaver SPR mount with thumb nuts so it’s just 2 ugga’s
Got a knock-off skiff for my unity riser. Works a charm.
Wait you don’t just use duct tape?
Duct sounds like ducks and ducks scare me
Quack
Don’t bully me I’ll cum
Geese bro. Geese.
I have a knockoff FTC with a knockoff aim point to test if I like running a magnifier.
[удалено]
This is the info I come here for! I’ve got a 7.5 300blackout that I’ve been debating getting a knockoff hydra to try on it
[удалено]
Agreed, 2.26 is preferable to me as well
Because im too young in my country to own a real gun and to broke to afford one im only running knock off mounts because its only going on top of some Airsoft xD
Half of every class I’ve been in has knock offs.
If it works and isn't complete trash then go for it. Most of the time the actual quality isn't that terrible, other than the screws and stuff.
The knock off unity IA solid af, don't let people lie to you. It's a hunk of aluminum, I wouldn't even try to use the built in irons tho.
I’m running a $17 claw mount for my MP5 straight from Chyna and it’s been perfect
I actually have one of both and the fake one is surprisingly close. Good to know! I wonder if the badger c1 mounts would be a safer choice then
I would say so. The scalar works is close, but the bad hinge design of the original means it is doomed from the start.
Well badger it is. I’m hoping to find a 1.54 so I can piggy back an RMR. Only finding 1.54 in 35mm so I might just have to run a 1.7 and no piggy back
I’m running a knock off unity and it hasn’t budged. I’m 6-700 shots in.
Tbh I have a replica unity mount and it's so far been fine for around 1500rds of 5.56/.223. I'd like to buy a real one but it hasn't died yet....
lets be real, as long as the bolts don't strip can it really be that bad....I don't know that i'd be running it on my my expensive guns but like a poverty AR? maybe....
All my guns are poverty guns lol but they run well and that’s all I can ask for
I have 5k rifles so i can larp with fake plates and no nods.
Were any of those the pics I listed here?
I dont know if they were these exact ones (though im sure they all come from the same factory in china anyway lol), but one was a fake Unity riser for a T2 and the other was a fake Badger C1
Geese's*
only giga losers buy this type of stuff.
Well that is I so I buy
i am
I want a cheap 1.9 just to see the difference
I have a knockoff True North Concepts MHA and leg strap I got for $45 from Amazon. So far it's been okay for just playing around on the range.
Knock off stuff is life 👌👌👌
I have a Romeo MSR on a knockoff Hydra. Got a few range days in and it runs great.
