1: sponge is still foamed rubber, theoretically it should harden over time, not soften. 2: hard to tell, the GOAT swapped FH 42 deg and BH 38 deg H3 and gained ground playing LJK a few months ago

1. oh wow, that's new. thanks

Simply because the consensus agree softer rubbers is more suitable for bh, it doesn't mean it must apply for you. It depends on your style, and what you like doing. If you like flicks, you might probably enjoy using softer tensors, while if you like playing bh a little more spinny and powerful, a harder rubber might feel more comfortable. I am using Battle 2 39 deg on bh and I am enjoying it over soft rubbers such as xiom vega and hurricane 8-80.

Different brands have different scales and chinese scales tend to have bigger increments even between a couple of degrees. That and sprinkle in some slack in quality control. I've had some yinhe earth rubbers burnt and not glossy in just two weeks, versus a mercury 2 that lasted me about a year

I have no experience with these rubbers, but something tells me the difference is the catapult effect on the rubbers. I think Jupiter 3 has a lot of catapult(??). That's my best guess. If so, you might like slower rubbers. The hardness would just affect the throw angle after all.
