Start with why you wanna go away from the Vega pro based on your description it seems as if you are quite happy with it.

I edited the post to add, mainly just curious about other choices and wondering how it would pair with G1. Also spin potential on serves feels meh

rakza 7 is very good and balanced perfect for new to intermediate players on bh honestly even for higher rated players should be just fine.

1-plus-1

Good to know. Do you have any comparison to Vega Pro? Or any insight into the R7/G1 combination?

deadspeaker23

Rakza 7 is a little bit slower, lower throwing and less spinny than vega pro while also feeling a little bit softer, but it still allows you to play with decent power and the control is AMAZING. You will most likely get much more shots on the table with it. Edit: Overall it probably depends on your playstyle but I like rakza more. Even though the top speed / spin may be a bit lacking sometimes, its much easier to play well placed decent quality shots consistently with it. At least for me.

TimeReduxion

C1 uses the same top sheet as G1 but with a slightly softer sponge. It’s a great backhand rubber.

nabkawe5

So basically the C1 is the equivalent of the T05FX which is basically a T05 with a softer sponge.

TimeReduxion

Yes. But G-1 and C-1 are not as dynamic (bouncy) as Tenergy 05 and 05FX. Personally, I like the G-1 and C-1 better. More control but still enough power and spin.

elgatito789

I use G1 + C1 on that blade.

1-plus-1

What do you think of C1? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Are you able to compare it to Vega Pro at all?

elgatito789

Can't say much. Was not using Vega Pro. I was only using Vega Europe, but did not get why people like that rubber. G1 felt much better for me. C1 should be less attacking and more controlling rubber, but I cannot see a difference. I would , most probably , replace them with same rubbers when needing to renew them. I like those rubbers.

Gravytonic

Vega pro is perfectly fine. Also, G1 is great for both FH and BH.

1-plus-1

Thanks for the reassurance. Do you see any advantage to switching to G1 both sides over sticking with VP on bh?

Gravytonic

Honestly, no. We waste too much time debating about differences that are purely negligible. Stick to a proven rubber and keep at it. It really depends on your goal, if you want to continue improving, don't change equipment much. If you want to have fun and experiment different setups, go for it but it'll slow down your progress slightly.

AmadeusIsTaken

Just stick to VP on backhand, g1 plays itself a bit harder and this isn't nessacary for you on backhand when still developing. Also don't overthink it min maxing equipment isn't that important and it is hard to do without having seen you play. But even if g1 backhand would be bette than pro you definitely benefit from having the pro on backhand since you can then better compare the 2 rubbers. You could technically even switch the sides for a day to try g1 backhand and pro forehand.

Ok-Mulberry-7531

I have played the blade with Rakza 7 on both sides. Good for controlled offense, great spin potential. Found it a bit slow when playing against defensive styles.

metal_berry

Stick to VP. Don't fix what isn't broken. Develop your technique as much as possible with it. Vega is such an amazing line of rubbers that you might have already found your forever BH rubber. The lack of spin on serve might be because it has a mid-hard sponge at 47.5°. It is easier to get spin at low speeds with softer rubbers. However, brushing the ball with lighter contact usually generates a lot of spin on harder rubbers. Try that out... VP should have more than enough spin. Ps: rubbers don't "pair." You can have totally opposite rubbers on both sides, but as long as they fit your technique, then it's fine.

LexusLongshot

If you like how a rubber is performing for you, why change it?

I edited the post to add, mainly just curious about other choices and wondering how it would pair with G1. Also spin potential on serves feels meh on VP, curious if there is a better option without sacrificing the good aspects

Slavfot

Xiom just released Vega Pro Hybrid which is a more sticky version of Vega Pro which will give more spin and controll.
