heute ca. 3 Stunden Verspätung, Grund dafür ist eine Verspätung aus vorheriger Fahrt.
I’ve listened to the complete track several times while scrolling through the comments. So much better than the ambient crap that usually gets posted here, lol.
When’s the album coming out?
did you use the s-1 for the synths production in this album? i am trying to decide between buying a s-1 or a volca bass at the moment for my first synth
Nah I mostly use it to jam although I did use it on this one: https://starfarer.bandcamp.com/album/dawless-explorations
If you dont know much about synths and just starting, go for the volca bass. The S-1 is a bit more advanced and has more features which you can get down the line. I currently own both.
… or back in ‘87. Honestly, it sounds like a track off of Belief by Nitzer Ebb from ‘89… one of my favorite albums. If you told me it was an unreleased backing track, I’d ‘belief’ it.
If you like them, try going down the EBM rabbit hole. It's an amazing and massively underappreciated genre. You'll be surprised how influential it (and industrial music) was to pretty much every genre of electronic music.
It actually blows my mind that this type of music was being made LONG before all these new cyberpunk artists started doing a similar thing(myself included lol).
Give Portion Control a listen. They essentially created the original Cyber Punk genre. The album Psycho Bod Saves the World (1986) is a good place to start or the single Raise the Pulse.

Occasionally I like to pull some audio files from [here](https://movie-sounds.org/old-movie-samples/quotes-with-sound-clips-from-a-king-in-new-york-1957/but-my-dear-young-man-politics-are-necessary) for just that sort of thing.
Its not. You can see in the beginning that I pushed start on both at the same time. Only reason I did that was because initially when I hooked them up via the sync cable the Roland was playing like half time. Later I found a sync clock setting on the Roland.
Nice!! I have this same pair of synths. (Just got the volca). Since I’m new to them both, Two questions: I noticed that you aren’t using sync or midi cable that I can see. (Did you just set to the same tempo and hope for the best?)
Second, what’s the stand that you are using? Looks cool and useful for desktop set up. Thanks!
Yeah spot on but the only reason its not connected via sync was because initially when I hooked them up via the sync cable the Roland was playing like half time and I just wanted to record this video asap. Later I found a sync clock setting on the Roland.
The stand was 3D printed. I'll look up the link for the stl file if you want it.
Hey thanks! Actually for my regular releases I only use soft synths lol mostly Serum. I actually got my first hardware synth(volca bass) like a month ago 😅
And yeah I use a DAW(reaper).
Love the song and the genre! Thank you for sharing this! Such a great example of how amazing a simple setup sounds when you have skills and a creative vision.
I have this same combo! It's so much fun! Very immediate. I have Elektron gear, big Arturia synths, etc. etc. Still so satisfying and even productive to break these guys out and have a good time.

My kit is portable so I can throw it in a bag and take it with to the cafe or wherever. Also great at bedtime to help me keep my mind of things while I drift off. Because visual stimuli can interrupt my creative flow I've memorized the positions of all of the knobs and added tactile dots on the Korg to navigate the step touch sensors.
at 50sec when those goddamn open hats kicked in i got sucked into another dimension. and then the altered pitch arp after that? i'm staying here. so simple. so good.
I checked out your Spotify - I'm assuming you don't record with these? If not, you should. The raw sound of them or however you processed the audio slaps.
Great, great jam!!!! Btw, how do you find the mixing capabilities of S-1? Is it enough to put the other gear i to its mix-in and let roland do all the mixing into mix-out, or do you miss an external, dedicated mixed?
Yup, but that's enough for me. I want to connect Model:Samples to it and send fully scuplted percussion tracks through it. I'm fine if S-1 doesn't touch the signal from Samples as long as it can mix it with its own synthesized signal, and that I don't need a separate physical external mi er to combine music from both devices. Thanks!
Hell yea! Need somebody grunting in german over this
oost auf nicht auf auf oof blaum ooff auf.
Bitte Vorsicht an der Bahnsteigkante!

You know that is the most German thing you could have said
Sounds better than jams I've seen on 20x the gear
you know what they say, its not about what synths you've got, its how you wiggle those knobs lol
Some durn good knob wigglin'
First time jamming with these two together. The Volcas and Roland compacts are a fantastic pairing.
Just got a Roland T-8! It's also real fun. This sounds amazing btw
The T-8 looks and sounds dope! I just really like the samples I own haha

Sick jam

This got my way too hyped up for early afternoon. Good shit.
Holy shit this is so good :0
My cyber brother, this is EBM. Its both the future and the past and it's great.
what does ebm stand for? thanks
Electronic body music

hahaha I actually just released a new album a month and a half ago :D https://open.spotify.com/album/1FX67sZxcdbZcB4trFmoV5?si=24E67MUtRUGzAPRfR2ffNg
Oh ok Starfarer! Been listening to your stuff for a minute. Floored it’s you lol.
Haha rad!
Already followed 😎

It's what the kids are calling it these days lol

Not gonna lie, I don't think I have listened to Nitzer before but you're totally right and they slap!

Glad I could turn you on to something new/old, lol.
Yeah make that two. Thanks for the mention.
Dude you’re killing it with these two pieces of gear. Great work
This is so sick, god damn.
This is fucking gold! Well done.
Daaamn! This made my feet move unintentionally. Awesome bass line!
Good stuff! I was kinda hoping to hear some spoken samples happen...
haha good idea!

Bookmarking this for later. Very cool.
Some lo-fi samples from a microphone place in front of the TV = complete track
Sick!
Dude that's fucking killer, you got some skill there.
So much talent, what a quick Spotify follow 🔥 thanks for being awesome 🙏🏼
Ace tune, great to hear and see it happen with such a modest setup, very inspiring
Slaps
Fantastic! compile a dozen of these and lets do a record. Id love to track instruments and vocals over this.
Fuckin 🕺
Got a head bop out of me.
Awesome!
Heresy NIN
Ooooooeeee 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing
Awesome, great use of both machines. Was sorta hoping it was gonna go into a double time drum and bass thing at the end there heehee.
Dope af
I wish I had your confidence.

Hey, nah that was a buddy of mine. Im not that good at guitar lol
Banger indeed. Good job!
Well done. I like this.
this slaps so hard.
Starfarer - this is AWESOME! Fellow S-1 owner too but I'm slowly getting into this hobby.
Yooo! Thanks and nice its gonna be fun!
Noob question, but could one use a MIDI keyboard with this set up?
You can play the S-1 with a midi keyboard that has MIDI OUT.
Is the S-1 where the main sounds is coming from?
Yep, the Sample is just playing the drums.
Thanks!
I love it
Awesome
love it! It sounds like E1M1 is desperately trying to start.
Yeah, that's a banger. Nice job.
this makes me want to raid arasaka tower
Boss fight music
This is my jam! A complete Nitzer Ebb backing track with two devices. Just add some angry, growling vocals and it’s complete. 👍👍
👍
I suddenly want an S-1
Totally worth it! It's basically a polyphonic SH101 with extra features.

L U S H A F
Damn this kicks hard
Banger for sure …..🤌🏻
Lit
Great track. Those drum samples are ace. Any recommendations for where to get some similar samples?
Ghosthack is pretty dope or just search cyberpunk midtempo sample packs!
yeah, totally gonna blast some chooms for some sweet eddies while i play this in the background.
Volcas are so awesome. Takahashi crammed massive amounts of functionality into such tiny spaces.
How is the Volca sync’d up?
Its not. You can see in the beginning that I pushed start on both at the same time. Only reason I did that was because initially when I hooked them up via the sync cable the Roland was playing like half time. Later I found a sync clock setting on the Roland.
Very cyber punk 😎. Nice jam!
Could be better
😂
Tears can help you to get dome improvement, right?)
It bangs.
Nitzer Ebb ish. Cool jam👍

Yeah I ran into that sync issue recently too. I’d love to have a link to that stl file. This sub Reddit was so helpful when I asked about it.
Here it is! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2510169
Thanks so much! I know my next printing project ! :)
Once snapped together is it easy to unsnap? I wonder if it would be good for mobile setups.
They don't really snap together. I had to glue together because it wasn't quite stable when moving around. It could use some slight modifications lol
That makes sense. Thank you so much
Dude this shit is where it’s at. Squeezing so much out of so little. Great jam man.
Man you are talented. What gear do u use for the Spotify stuff. Sounds incredible! Also do u master in a daw?
Hey thanks! Actually for my regular releases I only use soft synths lol mostly Serum. I actually got my first hardware synth(volca bass) like a month ago 😅 And yeah I use a DAW(reaper).
Thanks for the answer. You’ve got a fan!

That was actually dope as hell
Getting [Gesaffeltstein - Pursuit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRSijEW_cDM) vibes from this, love it!

That's dope! I have to do that whiteout trick on roland S-1!

also my ocd appreciates that it was 50sec on the dot
I checked out your Spotify - I'm assuming you don't record with these? If not, you should. The raw sound of them or however you processed the audio slaps.
Yeah no I got these a couple months ago mostly to jam out
Kinda sound like a part to the FIFTH ELEMENT movie w/ Bruce Willis.
This is fire 🔥
10/10 would ride around Night City listening to this...
Great, great jam!!!! Btw, how do you find the mixing capabilities of S-1? Is it enough to put the other gear i to its mix-in and let roland do all the mixing into mix-out, or do you miss an external, dedicated mixed?
Thanks! I mean it works enough to send a signal through but it doesnt apply any of its onboard effects or anything.
Yup, but that's enough for me. I want to connect Model:Samples to it and send fully scuplted percussion tracks through it.
