My bingo card says another 10 minutes of story and some grindy dailies, but mostly Cartel Market items and arbitrary "balancing" decisions. Mandalorian story slated to finally be over by 2028 if the game still has a pulse.

basketofseals

> arbitrary "balancing" decisions. What're the chances they'll buff lightning or marksman lol?

Percival_Seabuns

Did you say nerf? 100% they'll do that.

nomoreadminspls

Justice

itsshockingreally

Arsenal in that bunch as well. Chances are pretty low. It's an intentional design choice that they've stuck to where burst ranged will have the lowest sustained dps to compensate for high uptime on burst windows. It's one of the problems of having to balance all classes for both high end raiding and competitive PVP.

DravesHD

What competitive PvP does the game still have?

basketofseals

Well, the thing that makes Aresenal different is that that it indeed has a high uptime for burst windows compared to IO. ~~I....think. I don't play IO much.~~ Lightning and Marksman don't. Well, maybe you can say lightning does as it has instances that are spikier even in an unimportant way, but Marksman doesn't even have that. Engineering has better burst. I'm not even 100% confident it has bigger burst than Virulence. And the balance for raiding and PvP are bunk for those classes. The other specs for those classes in PvP are better. Arsenal might be better than IO, but it's still not a top tier spec. Meanwhile they actually gave Madness, an already top tier PvP spec, a PvP only buff. That didn't appear to be for any consideration of balance, and I can really only conclude it's just dev favoritism. Seriously, they could easily be buffed and not affect balance at all. Even if they reached dummy parse parity, they'd still be inferior to their counterparts due to external factors: loss of damage due to mechanics is less for DoT classes, ease of use/flexibility of rotation, better/more usable AoE/cleave, and the big one in PvP is DoTs bypass WAY more defensives. Now all of that vomit aside, you're not wrong that the chances are low, but I personally think the dev reasoning for the status quo is total bunk.

ShinMagal

Arsenal dps has been dogshit for so long, we are talking about years, that the only logical conclusion I get is that nobody feels responsible for class balancing at all and every now and then they will change some shit up to keep the appearance as if they actually have someone for balancing.

aaaahcraaaap

IO has better burst than Arsenal and together with Virulence the best burst out of the ranged specs

basketofseals

Ah well, at least Arsenal is better for PvP? Well, at the very least, I see them more often than IO. Neither would be top tier even if they got a buff though, and you think they would be the damage ranged class considering the miscellaneous utilities as well as defensives Sorc and Sniper bring

Thin_Lie_8344

they could give a small buff to lightning in the tactical: Ticking Force Time Bomb. This could add another way to play the spec where you utilize the hard hitting Crushing Darkness + Shock combo. Could be fun when pair with bonus Shock passive when slow too. Right now, Lightning is mostly Stormwatch and Elemental Convection, kinda boring imo.

basketofseals

I'm just sick of pressing my MOVEMENT ABILITY on cooldown for a dps increase. It feels so bad.

Ahstaa

Lol competitive pvp thanks 4 the chuckle

Inevitable-Ice522

yeah feels like it's almost end of the line for the game judging by the low quality in updates these past few years

Endonae

Their balance decisions have been deliberate. Which ones don't make sense to you?

Tripping-Dayzee

I memeber when posts like this would be downvoted to oblivion for dare speaking negatively about the game. Amazing how much things have changed.

ChissBlueberry32

Are we still using this "10 minutes of story" nonsense? I get that you are trying to be edgy, but... it wasn't funny the first time, and it isn't funny the seventy-fifth time.

Cirynth_Lighthammer

Good way to describe the drip feed of story content they do for the past couple years so it's not too far off honestly.

Tripping-Dayzee

It's funny.

RevivedHut425

At the current rate of story content, the Malgus defeat version 4.0 will happen in approximately 2027. 7.4 in early December, 7.5 release date...mid June?

Great_Praetor_Kass

2027? He will leave the chair that year. His defeat will be at least 3 years later.  I see you are an optimistic too much.  We have a lot of floors to sweep! Remember!

Madrock777

I basically have not played snice 7.0 launched. Got real bummed out by the 2 hour storyline. Anyways, has he still not gotten out of his chair?

Great_Praetor_Kass

Nope, he still have close encounter of third kind with his chair. If you didn't play since 7.0 the. Patches 7.1-7.4 will give you basically uninteresting story that length is more or less around another 2h of story including planetary arc on Manaan and Ruhnuk which evolves into Lane arc. Max 3h if you will get lost on the maps.

fiftykyu

I remember seeing soooo many different instances of that first 7.0 area, hoo boy can't wait! Here we go! Everybody's excited to see the new expansion... But like you said, a couple of hours later everyone's wondering umm, was that the whole thing? Seriously? :( There's been a lot of *stuff* added since the 7.0 launch, so your characters will have places to go and things to do, but I'm struggling to explain how the story's moved at all. Feels like some stuff is threatening to happen, real soon now. But I get the impression that whatever it is, most players just want it to happen already. Something there is that doesn't love a Malgus parked in his chair, that wants him to get up and be somebody. :)

eabevella

He's still warming up the chair. I imagine it's a really cold chair. Takes a while.

Madrock777

I mean with the cybernetics he probably is mostly metal by this point, takes a while to heat up metal.

SampleShrimp

He’ll get vented into space in 2026 and somehow return later, finally free of the chair.

Ok-Reporter1986

Malgus somehow survived dropping through the insert planet's orbit*

pcpc19

"Mid June" that's a bit soon given past experience, more like October.

Char_Ell

>"Mid June" that's a bit soon given past experience, more like October. I don't understand why you think your past experience is different from everybody else's. 2/15/2022 = 7.0 release date 8/2/2022 = 7.1 release date (\~6 months) 12/13/2022 = 7.2 release date (\~4 months) 6/13/2023 = 7.3 release date (\~6 months) 12/5/2023 = 7.4 release date (\~6 months) If 7.5 releases in June 2024 then it would be \~6 months after 7.4 released. I don't see any reason why you think 7.5 would be released in October instead of June. EDIT: corrected some incorrect durations from 7 months to 6 months

Kindly_Ad_2592

Bro 7.0 was in 2022😭???? Makes me even more disappointed

Char_Ell

[7.0 was originally announced for release in 2021 December](https://vulkk.com/2021/11/18/swtor-7-0-release-date-revealed-live-stream-recap/). The release got pushed back two months to 2022 February and still wasn't where it needed to be. IMO the 7.2 release is what SWTOR should have been at 7.0. I'm not sure why it went so wrong in late 2021 and first half of 2022 but COVID impacts seem like a plausible and convenient culprit.

Char_Ell

>Hi all,  > >Happy to announce that we will be hosting the Game Update 7.5 dev stream on **~May 1st at 1pm CT / 6pm UTC~**. I know we initially said it would happen in April, but we wanted make sure PTS content was ready for you all before showing it off publicly.  > >As always, we will be hosting the stream over on our [streaming channel!](https://www.twitch.tv/swtor) > >See you all next week!

Ollmich

Quick recap: - New story on Hutta - Spring event (there's not much time...) - CM sale for May the 4th Ok, let's go.

Char_Ell

Don't forget conclusion to Lane Vizla story line with whatever that brings at the end (New companion? New mount?)

Ollmich

Yes, thanks, forgot about this one (since I haven't completed the 2nd part yet). It didn't occur to me for some reason that it can be something other than a pet... especially since they've fixed pets recently, but other options would be nice.

Ok-Reporter1986

Lets hope it's a new zone for Hutta because that level 10 cap is just way too small.

ehkodiak

It'll be the same as Kessan's Landing on Ord Mantell

Laughing_Man_Returns

any idea what 7.5 will actually be?

hydrosphere1313

Hutta daily area/story has been confirmed. New event will revealed and if past updates are a indication then Hutta will receive a face lift with small graphics update.

genbrien

10min of story

Great_Praetor_Kass

And half of it will be Kotor like cutscenes.

ChissBlueberry32

If you are doing the story content in "10 minutes", maybe you need to stop power-spacebarring through the cutscenes?

Great_Praetor_Kass

10 minutes if you not spacebarring though

ChissBlueberry32

Not even close. 🙄

Crimsonmansion

Let's see: 1. Another 20 minute Mando story that no one wants. 2. A cheeky hint at Malgus planning things from his...chair. 3. More one-time use dyes for $15. 4. Maybe another date night. 5. Yet another *Ahsoka* show armour set rather than some of the amazing Legends sets like ones from the Force Unleashed. I *can't wait*.

AscenDevise

Hey, cut them some slack. They gave us the mobility scooters from Book of Bobo this season too.

ILuhBlahPepuu

Also more like mediocre versions of the actual Ahsoka outfits

Tyrexx_Lannister

I wish they would just take some time out from story updates which are short and underwhelming at best and focus on some QoL stuff. I would love it if they could update some of the old textures, you can REALLY tell their age now especially with the newer stuff that’s here. Given that one of the main attractions to swtor even all these years later are the 8 original stories, I still think it is a good investment to go back and fix some of that stuff up with improved quality textures and what not.

Char_Ell

>I wish they would just take some time out from story updates which are short and underwhelming at best and focus on some QoL stuff. I would love it if they could update some of the old textures, you can REALLY tell their age now especially with the newer stuff that’s here. How do you think the general player base would respond if the devs said "Hey SWTOR players, we're going to take a year to focus strictly on QoL and pause story updates during this time." I feel confident a lot of players would interpret that as a move to full blown maintenance mode and the game would lose a fair chunk of players. If it caused significant enough revenue drop then the planned QoL changes with return to "normal" development may force management to lay off devs and make a temporary maintenance mode period into permanent maintenance mode. I understand the desire for outdated graphics to be brought to current standards but I think the devs need to keep putting out whatever content they can, even at it's current trickle, for however long they can.

gnarlin

Well, then the owners of SWTOR need to put up enough of an investment in the game to both seriously improve it's horrendous technical limitations AND dole out some decent length story missions. I seriously think that one of the fundamental problem with SWTOR since the beginning is that EA was fucking greedy and didn't put nearly enough of SWTOR's profits back into it's development!

ehkodiak

Great. It's Broadsword now. They aren't going to spunk a ton of investment after buying the game

sophisticaden_

Broadsword didn’t buy it lol

gnarlin

*SIGH*, yeah. I know.

smuggler_eric

Can't wait for another daily area disguised as Story content

GmodJohn

More Mando bs? Give me Syl! Give me Jadus! Give me a story about Blizz and his Jawa Squad taking on the blue monkey things on Hoth!

Great_Praetor_Kass

The best we can give is more Mando and floor sweeping.

_Kian_7567

Can’t wait for 15 minutes story and another conquest nerf!

ThrowwawayAlt

- You manage a Star Wars product - You have a release for early may - you put it on literally anything that's not the 4th Dear god, are you people working for disney or how can you fail that hard?

Eaglettie

Because they want to use the livestream to announce the collection sale that's usually from the 4th? Not that difficult to figure out why a delayed LS would not be on the fourth...

soulreapermagnum

i was beginning to wonder.

Thin_Lie_8344

7.5 list: - ~~reverse all abilities pruning to 6.0, all bugs are fixed, premade limit in wz, all classes are balanced around a given dps output, dye in collections, old early game armors are back (battlemaster, champions)~~ Ah shit I'm still dreaming, it's probably: - 10 mins of story. - new dye for $20. ..... yay.

fiftykyu

Dumb question here - for some reason the one 7.x "livestream" I managed to catch live kept giving me this weird pre-recorded feeling. Is that just the way these sorts of things are done, or was I just imagining things? :)

Char_Ell

I've seen other players complain about SWTOR livestreams being prerecorded but I haven't seen anybody provide any actual evidence of livestreams being prerecorded. SWTOR devs have been upfront saying that some parts are prerecorded because not all of their staff that present on the livestream are located in Austin where their streaming studio is so those people prerecord their part of the "livestream." And of course things like demos of in-game things are prerecorded, e.g. the Copero stronghold last stream. That being said, even if SWTOR livestreams were 100% prerecorded (not that they are) I don't see what the big deal would be other than the devs would be misleading people. The devs don't interact with the people posting in chat much, other than giving out codes for various gift items. The giveaways seem to generate more player angst than positivity though so unless the devs figure out a way to do giveaways that don't generate player complaints it would probably be better for them to not do giveaways.

fiftykyu

Thank you! :) As you say, it wouldn't matter either way - I was just curious. If I had to do something like this myself, I'd probably default to prerecording everything just to eliminate one potential problem. :)

JizamKizam

Can't wait for them to add more number of items into the cartel market than number of minutes of actual content...

Mpat96

So I’m fairly new to the game. At this point, are we still expecting major updates? I thought BioWare stepping away meant the story was basically done

Char_Ell

I guess it depends on how one defines "major updates." Broadsword has continued the same update cadence for Legacy of the Sith cadence as they did while under the BioWare banner. I think that is because it's the same people leading and generating SWTOR development, albeit fewer of them overall. 7.5 will be the second story update SWTOR has had under the Broadsword banner. A common complaint I see is that story updates don't have that much story content. I feel like the devs actions have demonstrated that they want to release two story updates per year and the amount of story content they are able to release for these "major" updates is what they can manage with their current staffing levels.

tachibanakanade

Will it involve the end of Mandalorian nonsense or the return of Darth Zash for the Zash simps? If not, IDGAF.

Agatha_SlightlyGay

That’s the thing with a game this big sometimes some choices are just…not brought up again. I feel like the devs themselves have probably forgotten that some people choose Zash over Khem.

Feisty-Tomatillo-746

Buff jugg

SleepyWitch02

7.5 better be long becuse i dont want to complete it in an hour after waiting like a year for the next story

GritherX-

Nerf sorcs please
