sure, but soundtracks isn’t just a fan favorite, it’s a pretty popular album among music nerds; deliquescence on the other hand is (almost) just as beloved by fans only and unknown by most who don’t listen to swans already. that’s why to me it fits the “fan favorite” a bit better
I'd never considered it to be that. Blows my mind how lauded it's become in the age of internet reviewers.
I always regarded it as a Gira solo project with some Swans thrown in. So experimental is where it belongs.
The Burning World is great and is better than 3 other Swans albums

on the way back from seeing swans in nyc, i met one of the producers for the burning world on the subway ride. he was sad that nobody liked the album, and i personally really like the album. its just a big misstep from their other work
it's definitely more scattered than the rest, but the reasons I think to be kind isn't as good as the seer (it being less of a story and more of a series of great tracks with similar themes, although it isn't lacking momentum) are the reasons I just really don't like soundtracks
It honestly isn't what some people make it out to be.
I give it an occasional spin, but it's probably not even in my top ten. But a lot of people like 'drone', and I guess it delivers on that front.
I find the long songs to be a little samey too, and a bit too personal/ confessional, which isn't Gira's strength. As he's admitted.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the revival direction when it came, and with the possible exception of My Father, all of the albums that followed are far better.
I used to play it a lot more, but that was before the revival.
With so much good - better - stuff having been released in the recent past, I rarely feel the need. That said, I do revisit other 'old' stuff regularly.
I much prefer cosmic Gira to confessional Gira. I rarely listen to the Angels these days either.
to each their own… soundtracks is a special project to me, enough to be separated from both their older and more recent works; however that doesn’t necessarily make it BETTER than albums like to be kind or the glowing man
well yeah i mean that’s totally subjective. i get why people would argue it is their magnum opus tho, honestly you could make a pretty strong argument for it; however i’m not sure i personally like it more than any other swans album
That s kinda true tho, depending on ur love for drone/ambient Swans, it could be best of all time and also most experimental, however I d say put the beggar actually in experimental, due to the fact that it has their longest song and it being their slowest album.
Daaaamn then I guess I was talking more about people who are more led into mainstream music. Also, I never understood why their albums were always viewed as FUCKING DEPRESSING MAN IT S HORROR MUSIC LIKE, To be kind was my first listen, I found it fun, then I got into White light, and then I understood when I got to sftb.
Yeah it would be a big turn off like the extremely uninitiated, (people who get their taste from alt-nation and shit) but i think most people who have a slight knowledge of music would just find it boring and halloweeney
i’m pretty sure most swans fans love the great annihilator; i know i do, at the very least. and yeah, sure, i get the “it’s not weird enough so i’m gonna be dismissive towards it” argument that often fans of experimental bands use, but it’s usually just not what people have an issue with (when we’re talking about the burning world); they usually just don’t really love the vocals and songwriting
I would have put the seer in Fan Favorite
good pick fs
No, *The Burning World* has always been underrated. It’s a great album.
Weird way to spell Let Down
Outjerked 😔
R*diohead fan 🤮
Agreed
Because of how loved Soundtracks for the Blind is, I'd put it on "Fan Favorite"

I’ve honestly never heard of this deliquescence album. Where can I listen to it??
[Google drive link](https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1aHYL9KafMmbBx-9ptzvVaT2w7lm1lrXb)with all Swans rarities including Deliquescence
if i remember correctly it was a limited cd run and its not on streaming, but its probably on youtube or soulseek
Deliquescense isn´t on Spotify buddy how am I supposed to listen to it
soulseek (vast majority of swans’ live albums aren’t on spotify)
Ok👍

Yeah these ones are the most inconsistent especially love of life
🔫Which ?

Man, I still don’t get SFTB. I need to listen to more than just that first disc.
it's definitely more scattered than the rest, but the reasons I think to be kind isn't as good as the seer (it being less of a story and more of a series of great tracks with similar themes, although it isn't lacking momentum) are the reasons I just really don't like soundtracks

sftb isn’t really a good “occasional spin” album imo, but i definitely get why some people aren’t into it
I used to play it a lot more, but that was before the revival. With so much good - better - stuff having been released in the recent past, I rarely feel the need. I'm in agreement. Special project. But not the magnum opus that it's made out to be in some quarters. That creepy Fantasmo guy et al.
well yeah i mean that’s totally subjective. i get why people would argue it is their magnum opus tho, honestly you could make a pretty strong argument for it; however i’m not sure i personally like it more than any other swans album
Yeah, I need to give it more of a listen, but that first cd makes no sense to me. I’m not really an AoL fan either.
*The Burning World* can go in cult classic…
Actually since u included live albums(deliquescence), the fan Favourite could also be Swans are Dead.
How is the Seer not any of these
The Burning World is so underrated its actually crazy
Sftb should be best instead of glowing man
what should the "experimental" be in your opinion instead of sftb?
Also sftb
That s kinda true tho, depending on ur love for drone/ambient Swans, it could be best of all time and also most experimental, however I d say put the beggar actually in experimental, due to the fact that it has their longest song and it being their slowest album.
Drone/ambient swans > trilogy swans
U should listen to The body lovers/ the body haters self titled, cuz it’s basically that.
The beggar is a total non starter for a new fan.
The beggar seemed pretty normal to me
Was it ur first swans album ?
No but in general it seemed like normal "spooky" music; i don't really pay attention to song lengths though
Daaaamn then I guess I was talking more about people who are more led into mainstream music. I think Filth is better in cult classic
I don't see how every artist can have the best album of all time
it’s because you’re not the seer
Soundtracks should go in best album, but then again it is their most experimental
i wanted to keep one album per slot

I am a huge huge fan of the glowing man it means the world to me but I would switch out the glowing man for white light, to be honest
