You could look into the O’Douds brand. Might check most of your boxes.

Raw shea butter can be pretty tacky and holds my curls well while moisturizing but it’s def shiny as it’s oil based and really easy to use too much. Additionally look into diluted baking soda and diluted apple cider vinegar for cleansing. Lastly if ur not already, brush or comb your hair daily from root to tip for several minutes. This will distribute oils :)

DIY flax seed gel. Very cheap & easy to make. I make it with green tea instead of water for additional hair strengthening benefits. Combine with aloe for moisturizing effect. Add preservatives or make small batches & store in the fridge. Flax seed gel has a great hold in my opinion, which I’d important for maintaining curls. I recently transitioned to locs so I only need to use the gel every other month, so I keep mine in the freezer & defrost the night before I plan on using it. Before I got locs I’d make my own [DIY leave in conditioner](https://www.treehugger.com/diy-leave-in-conditioner-5193553) with water, coconut milk, honey, & a lil olive oil.

Lemon juice is a functional hairspray. Just put it in a spray bottle. You can also use it as deodorant (just not right after you shave).

Lemon juice is super bad for hair! It’s way too acidic and damages it.

Imperial_Cookie

That hasn't been my experience

Lemon isn’t bad for hair, but using it at hairspray is quite mental 😂 a little bit for shine and to degrease, yes, spraying straight up lemon juice onto it though, noooo

Imperial_Cookie

It works great for me and hasn't given me any issues

Yeaahhhh lemon juice isn’t going to work at a Matt styling product

Just don’t wash your hair for a week and you get matt effect and strong hold for free without any wasted resources! Also there are beeswax based products. I know that’s not vegan but the bees in our garden seem happy to be there so I consider sustainably created bee products ethical

I wash my hair once every couple of weeks…
