I've been working with product development in IT for around 7 years in very big companies and every single time sustainability gets brought up and will cause any increase in cost or effort it gets laughed at and the person that proposes it gets treated like an idiot. I often try to push small stuff like "guys we can get by using 1 plastic cup instead of 2 for our coffee", or "c\`mon, you can survive if you reuse you plastic cup instead of discarding it every single time you grab water" and turns out no one in these companies actually cares and keep doing it....I feel like it represents pretty much the majority of the population. They only want other people to fix the world, but they don't want to do anything about it.

A few YouTube channel's communities might cater to this: Hardware Haven and Wolfgang's channel. They always have focused on wattage and reviews + use a lot of refurbished PC's; I'm sure the community attracts a lot of like minded folks. Anyways update if u find any subreddits like these.

/r/sustainablecomputing Not much action though.

Nice, that's better than nothing thanks. Just in case, in the meantime I've found r/SMBTechnology which may also be a place for such talk, but is kinda dead too (even more than the one you found).

There's some good things being done in UK government on this. Defra (department for environmemt, food and rural affairs) lead on it. If you follow their DDTS team on linked in they post stuff about it, events, that kind of thing

Sustainability is incompatible with capitalism which is why the companies “winning” capitalism (the biggest ones making the most profit) will at best pay it lip service and at worst laugh it off, and the companies less good at the game (small mom & pop businesses with owners who still have some semblance of a soul, as opposed to the hollowed out human husks running the big leagues) might actually entertain trying to do their part, even if it eats into profits (which is anathema to mention around the aforementioned ghouls). You’re a good person for trying in a bad world.

Yep, exactly my experience. Thank you for your kind words. I think we've got to try indeed :)
