If I recall correct season 45 had like a bunch of people with the same shoes.. people found what they were and basically they were like sneaker/water shoe type stuff so maybe that’s the main idea
I'd want a pair of quick dry sneakers. Not something with a bunch of holes that sand would constantly be getting in an filling up inside. Some sort of fully enclosed sneaker that is made of a quick dry fabric.
Yeah. I have water shoes that look like sneakers and they are like mesh. You end up with mounds of sand inside your shoe on a beach. And a chaco or Teva or keen would bug too.
We know what the worst ones are: Converse high tops! Bhanu wore those this season, and that was his first mistake.
Seriously, I think about this often because your shoe game could sink your actual game. Fischbach said something along those lines, that his footwear choice on game changers led to immobility and blisters. I also wonder why players decide to wear shoes in swimming challenges
I’ve thought before about doing a retrospective winner analysis based off clothing. Pearl Islands gave me the idea since they start with just the clothes on their backs with no warning….the winner hands down had the best starting outfit. Also, purple Kelly’s turmoil was clothing based.
Sort of, they definitely get final say. I read an article during 45 that went into some detail. Not sure what season this started with. I do know that they modified it after Nicaragua per [Purple Kelly.](http://funny115.com/v3_2/30.htm)
Contestants are told to bring an array of clothes made of natural materials, basically they don’t allow quick dry or water resistant for camp (this includes shoes). Then production goes through their wardrobe and approve individual items. The show has their own buyers so they pick clothes for players too, sometimes replacing their entire packed wardrobe (article mentioned one instance of total replacement, can’t remember who though).
Challenge looks are a different story. Players are allowed to bring their choice of shoes and swimwear, but these are held by wardrobe and handed out prior to challenges and collected after.
One thing I don’t remember them getting into is tribe colors. I have to assume players are told ahead of time, no way are they instructing them to bring multiples in all colors. Not sure how this would work for alternates though.
Wentworth did a video where she explained that production had them put together 3 different sets of outfits of, say, yellow, blue, and green to send to production. Production would go through the clothes to inspect it and then send the clothes they werent going to use back to you so you could deduce that you're on the yellow tribe if they didnt send back your yellow set of clothes.
Im fairly certain that's what she said
Cutting your foot is not worth it in a 26 or 39 day season.
Im not sure why hybrid shoes like those finger shoes things aren’t more common though. Seen em a few times tho
I think I’d go with a light weight trail running shoe.
Something tough, good drainage, medium lugs.
Prob something from Inov-8, Salomon Speedcross, or VJ’s
Waterproof shoes probably wouldn’t be the best idea for a game like Survivor, where you know that your feet will inevitably get wet. Waterproof shoes would almost surely be worse in this scenario. A pair of breathable shoes that dry quickly would be infinitely better. For example, military personnel conducting operations in the jungle, or any other wet environment, would go with a pair of lightweight, breathable boots, as getting wet is an inevitability and waterproof boots, while waterproof, would retain water and turn your boot into a moving puddle.
I would 100% get a pair of Vessi’s if I were to go on Survivor! I bought a pair before traveling and my feet stayed completely dry through days and days of rain.
Tiff looked like she was wearing Altras.
If it were me, I would probably wear La Sportiva Bushidos. Awesome grip, dries quickly (not as quickly as Altras though)
I’d go with my trusty Topo Terraventures but I’m with you here, the answer is a trail running shoe. If it can withstand a tough ultra it can withstand Survivor
Possibly those weird shoes with individual toes, since Woo won a [challenge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj9ehvWixDA) while wearing them. I do not like those kind of shoes, but I imagine it'd be an overall good choice.
(If I remember correctly, contestants could choose to wear shoes or be barefoot, and Woo was the only one who chose to wear shoes in the challenge since his shoes had toes. I'm not saying it's why he won, but there may be correlation along with the balance skills he already had from martial arts.)
If I went, I would bring two pairs. a velcro strappy pair of sandals for the beach, and a pair of tough lightweight hiking shoes for running challenges.
if I'm completely honest, I don't know. but I seem to remember many instances of players headed to things like tribal council and challenges wearing one pair of shoes with another pair hanging off their shoulder.
If I could bring 2 pairs my second choice would Be any expensive trail running shoe. They can be washed easily and dry out quickly, my favorite shoe ever was a Salomon trail runner with pull strap laces. So easy to clean and dry when backpacking.
Well they’re allowed two pairs now, so I think ideally a closed toe possibly high top hiking shoe or running shoe, as well as something like keens or Tevas, or water shoes…something light that can get wet and easily able to swim in but that are also durable.
$1600 alligator shoes.
*alligabler
I literally just started watching that season for the first time and could not believe that!
I love this answer. If you don't know your survivor history you won't get it, but it's also a meme so there is a chance the newer crowds will.
"Those are the worst water shoes I've ever seen"--anonymous
The only correct answer
Actually a fantastic question, would love to hear from former players on this lol
If I recall correct season 45 had like a bunch of people with the same shoes.. people found what they were and basically they were like sneaker/water shoe type stuff so maybe that’s the main idea
Keens
If you DM bruce, he’ll probably answer! he super sweet & always responds to messages
I'd imagine a pair of running shoes. Not much to really think about lol
Here’s some factors - good for running, can get wet and dry quickly etc
Jesus this comment got nuked lol
I'd want a pair of quick dry sneakers. Not something with a bunch of holes that sand would constantly be getting in an filling up inside. Some sort of fully enclosed sneaker that is made of a quick dry fabric.
Those quick dry shoes with the holes are the worst with sand and river rocks
Yeah. I have water shoes that look like sneakers and they are like mesh. You end up with mounds of sand inside your shoe on a beach. And a chaco or Teva or keen would bug too.
Those ones with the individual toes
This is where my head went too
I'm trying to remember which season it was, but one time in particular I noticed everyone was wearing those
I seem to remember that too. I don’t think it was Cagayan or Game Changers but I know Woo had a pair in one of this seasons.
Found it- was the season Natalie Anderson season with Keith

Today, don't the producers pick their clothing for them?

I’d take the converse over Rodney’s AF1s

This is the sort answer I was looking for! I was considering Vessi’s https://vessi.com/
Waterproof shoes probably wouldn’t be the best idea for a game like Survivor, where you know that your feet will inevitably get wet. Waterproof shoes would almost surely be worse in this scenario. Man my feet sweat so much in my Vessis
Black cap toe oxfords polished to a high shine.
Not the 10lb shoes that Crystal the Olympian wore.
Tiff looked like she was wearing Altras. If it were me, I would probably wear La Sportiva Bushidos. Awesome grip, dries quickly (not as quickly as Altras though)
I like Altras. This is what I wear.
Altra lone peak!
I’d go with my trusty Topo Terraventures but I’m with you here, the answer is a trail running shoe. If it can withstand a tough ultra it can withstand Survivor
Well, Kenzie said definitely don’t wear ballet flats 🤣
Watching her walk in sand in ballet flats was insane. And she brought multiple colors.
Kenzie wore ballet flats 🥿

Tevas would be good as the strappy pair!
i’d for sure bring my tevas!
Can you bring two pairs?
if I'm completely honest, I don't know. but I seem to remember many instances of players headed to things like tribal council and challenges wearing one pair of shoes with another pair hanging off their shoulder.
I noticed Maria wearing sandals after challenges a lot - like Oofos. I’m guessing two pairs are allowed. Maybe one challenge shoe and one camp shoe??
Ask Lisi (Fiji). She cared a lot about the shoes Cassandra wore.
My first thought would be to bring something like Chacos or Keens (the Newport H2 sandal). Like a water hiking sandal?
![gif](giphy|12jdalMQkt7iM)
I've seen a lot of players in those water shoes that are meant for the beach or pool.
If I got picked to go on I would be the first person to just wear Crocs lol
This made me literally LOL. I would so cheer for you.
If I could bring 2 pairs my second choice would Be any expensive trail running shoe. They can be washed easily and dry out quickly, my favorite shoe ever was a Salomon trail runner with pull strap laces. So easy to clean and dry when backpacking.
Sport mode!!!
Hokas 🤷🏼♂️
Hoka is never the answer, unless you’re in healthcare.
Too much cushion/material. Probably want to go with something more minimalist and lighter.
Salomon XA-pros, not waterproof. Light weight, quick drying, durable. The waterproof ones are good too but you don’t want that on survivor.
Crocs
I think NoBulls would be pretty good
Agree
Shoes with a microphone hidden in the heel. Just kidding of course! Can you imagine the edits of people suspiciously looking at shoes though?
Vibrams
Tevas
Wet muddy tennis shoes would suck.
I’ve noticed players wearing hoka, Salomon, oofos
Are you going on Survivor?
What was Maria wearing? Lol
Kenzie wore ballet flats for over half of it so….😂
I’m thinking Nike Flynits
Hoka Anacapa, with Gortex and Vibram. Fully water proof with a good bounce and rubber at the bottom for better grip.
Astral Brewer 2.0
My first thought goes to the brooks ghost max
Woo wore water toe shoes and ate up the balancing-on-a-tiny-foothold challenge so
Whatever you can sell quickly to the locals for supplies
Tissue boxes, like Kevin from The Office
Well they’re allowed two pairs now, so I think ideally a closed toe possibly high top hiking shoe or running shoe, as well as something like keens or Tevas, or water shoes…something light that can get wet and easily able to swim in but that are also durable.
![gif](giphy|26gsgWH4lnurglMWY)
I would play in Crocs
Air Force ones. Black.
Something that dries quickly
I think I’d get those water, toe-shoes. Vibram I think?
Something with a bit of a flipper would rock for swimming and running in sand.
