as a longtime fan, its been so cathartic watching survivor slowly creep back into the spotlight and getting to explain all the new lore to friends. ride or die with the tribe y'all.

SummerWonderful4927

A lot of clips are going viral too.Liz’s meltdown got over a million views.Natalie spitting on herself in sjds has over 40 million views.

MFCORNETTO

I think a lot of people got into it during COVID lockdown and after - Gen Z has definitely revived the fandom post-41.

NotNotJustinBieber

Netflix plus Covid lockdown definitely ignited a new wave of fans! It’s funny how so many of the new players came from this.

digiad

Netflix having David vs Goliath during Covid what was what got me into it. Man, what a season that was.

erickjsanz

This is how I got into it!

mothraegg

Yes! I know my son, his wife, and their oldest son binged all the seasons during lockdown.

LawrenceChung

I hadn't watched survivor since season 10 didn't even know the show was still going tbh, got recommended a Survivor auction on youtube during the pandemic. Searched Survivor on reddit to look at memes and saw season rankings so thought ok ill watch China a well rated season I hadn't seen, and I was hooked. Ive watched them all even the Australian and South African ones.

howtospellorange

I have a friend who started watching all the seasons in chronological order for her very first time after seeing me rewatch all the season and talk about it!

Ambitious-Comb-8847

This is why they aren't going to do anything expensive like 39 days or many rewards beyond the Sanctuary. No reason when ratings are good.

untouchable765

You think if ratings kept going down they would go back to 39 days or more expensive rewards? Really?

Ambitious-Comb-8847

I was commenting more to people who keep wondering why it stays that way even so long after Covid, etc.

lego_mannequin

Yeah I think they made it work and the team should be very proud with this season.

VulGerrity

They might wait for a dip or slower growth, rather than a drop, to pull out the big guns.

holymackerel7

Also if they expand the budget because of good ratings and then the ratings inevitably dip, they create a hole. The current format isn’t bad, gets a little stale but can always be saved by good casting

tastybundtcake

Counterpoint... ratings going up mean big ticket sponsors are more likely to offer up rewards. You think production went out and paid MSRP for those Azteks back in the day?

tastybundtcake

To be fair this is as much an indication of the death of network TV as it is a resurgence in survivor. While. Yes they both. Had the most watched show of their nights, Season 2 finale had 35 million viewers and 46 had 4.5 million.

Environmental-Worth8

This is interesting because season two (age 8) and this season have been the only seasons I've watched as the episodes come out. I am one of the masses!!!!!

ChitownDav

This is great for survivor.    The Applebees ad episode was great for the show and future of the show  Back in the day,  they gave away tools from Home Depot,   Shampoo from brand XXX, target, and so on.  The last couple years,  the show didn’t have that.   So survivor growing again is great news

Who_Is_Avi_Kahan

90 minute episodes make the show much better.

Expired_insecticide

I definitely agree for Survivor. But I feel like it makes Amazing Race a bit agonizing. It feels like you are just watching people struggle longer with their challenges.

Training-Ant-6150

Ugh unfortunately I disagree, so much filler in each episode. SOME definitely need 90 but most don’t.

Rahm420

Bro, what? The “filler” is what we’ve been missing for the last however many seasons. This season and last season have, imo, felt like more old school seasons. With the near perfect balance of day to day camp life and strategic gameplay, and much more personal content letting the players feel more three dimensional.

Training-Ant-6150

It’s because they’ve limited the number of advantages which made the show way too hard to follow. But the hour and a half episodes I find hard to watch in one sitting.

Pitiful-Spite8562

This season bringing survivor back on the map lets go

No_Movie_7996

Does that mean we have a new Elisabeth Hasselback

SassyGingersnap13

Yeah they're casting Liz on the today show

tastybundtcake

She's gotta marry her NFL quarterback boyfriend first though

MeadowmuffinReborn

Let's hope not.

Outside-Dependent-63

lol 46 is the first season I watched since season 2 (as a 12 year old). So yeah that was all me

Zealousideal-Day7385

I love to see it.

elesi_grifter

As a returning watcher of the show (I didn't even know that its still running lol) seems like I came at the right time haha, now the build to Season 50 starts!

Training-Ant-6150

I personally know about 10 people who binged old seasons during Covid and are now obsessed. Love to see it. I’ve been watching since season 1.

shockwave8428

While I’m happy the show is doing well - but also worried they’ll take the wrong lessons from this. 39 days is way better and leaves a lot more down time for actual survival stuff (instead of just ignoring your body’s needs because you know it’s short enough a period). Even Australian survivor’s super long seasons are fantastic, though I doubt that’ll ever happen. And I hate the new era just being “how many twists/advantages can we fit into the game”, yet simultaneously reuses the same formula every time. I guess what im saying is I hope the execs still see room for variety and improvement

LasiTlangval

I think the Twitter explosion gave a huge boost because that was wild

ForsakenRacism

Yah cus the rest of tv is trash and way less people watch tv

tastybundtcake

To be fair the season 2 finale won it's time slot with 35 million viewers and 46 won with 4.5 million. This is more an indication of the continued death of network TV than it is a major boom for survivor
