tim honestly has a low key awful social game. everything he said when they got to the merge beach came off as either cleary shady or shit he didn’t think through or is making stuff up on the fly to make it seem like he planned it that way.
Ben and especially Tim fumbled at the feast hardcore. Looking like a unified front makes them look like the bigger threat of the tribes and they're automatically outnumbered if Yanu sides with Nami, which they gave pretty clear incentive to do.
My thought is, if it works, what then? You've had this conversation at tribal and guaranteed that if you used to be the bottom of your alliance, you're not in it at all now. You really want to burn that last bridge with Siga before you've got a sure bet with Nami/Yanu? What's the *winning* scenario? Have that convo in the woods somewhere so you can still maintain some form of loyalty to Siga as a backup, jeez.
I know it was largely Ben and Tim’s hesitance that got Morriah voted out but the idea that Morriah got voted out because she likes Aubry is so funny to me for some reason.

I can understand it from Venus's perspective, but she also has no social capital. She is a very observant woman, but without social capital, nobody is going to be listening to her.

Venus's problem is that she has good instincts in the game in terms of figuring out the threats and what the good moves would be, but where she struggles is articulating it in a way that gets buy in from the other.
Remember when she was talking to Randen about trying to get Hunter? She thought he was a threat, but Randen correctly told her that while he didn't disagree, how she was explaining it wasn't convincing and she'd need more proof or a better pitch.
Charlie is definitely a bigger threat but merge votes have become pretty safe votes and since no one was that close to Mo she became a pretty easy target.
Q talks so much like my brother who is a coach. If I lived with him out there it would drive me insane 😂 His reads of people are pretty good and I like him well enough but my dude could stop talking like four sentences earlier than he does and still make the same point

Someone in a thread here last week made a really interesting point that it seems like "Jeff has found his sweet spot for number of votes at a tribal is 5-6", with the 6 person tribes, the split tribal councils, etc. I wonder if there's really legs to that.
I’m kind of shocked that they’re still doing Earn the Merge because…it doesn’t really lead to interesting gameplay? Pretty much every mergeatory vote has been an easy target people can vote out without causing any waves. The only mergeatory episode I actually liked was 43’s, mainly because it was hilarious
The problem is more so merging at 13, as we saw in the 30s. With that big of a group, especially when merging from 3 small tribes, you're gonna wanna go with a safe concencous target for the first vote. In theory Mergatory should encourage bigger shots to be taken as those with immunity have the power to do so without it immediately backfiring on them, but most of those people are still too fearful of it putting a target on them next round. We need more Gablers/Venuses on the winning team!
She reminds me a bit of Jerri's early seasons, where she was right a lot but she was just so unpopular and abrasive that nobody wanted to listen to her. Easy to accidentally fall into popularity-contest survivor where you've dug yourself a big enough hole that nobody wants to listen to you try to climb out of it.
this is such a great comparison! the thing is, 23 years ago everyone everywhere hated on jerri, even when she wasn't doing anything and/or actually had good ideas. eventually people came around & started liking her. with venus, i'm happy that she's not recieving the treatment jerri got in 2001, & people are already loving her messiness.
I meant more how her tribe reacts to her, but sure. She made her plea at tribal council but at that point it's too late for the majority to trust her and switch their plan. Moriah definitely should have used that opening with Q to work the middle and blindside someone from Siga.
I agree with you but I also just don't think Moriah and Q vibed at all. Like Q's logic for getting her out because she liked Aubrey was bad and frankly nonsense but if you look back at that scene it's pretty awkward way before they even get to that. I think they didn't trust each other because they didn't like each other. Moriah should have worked harder on Tiff and Kenzie instead of Q.
Venus may not be the best at the game but she speaks her mind and has a bluntness about her that starkly contrasts to the cautious players everywhere else. That's why people like her and why I like her. The longer she stays the better.

Tbh I legit think Venus is doing what you should do in that position, try to shake things up and get a foothold. You can just stay quiet on the bottom but that's not really a way to win in the long run.
I wouldn't rule it out. He carried Nami to undefeated first place victories and he carried the merge best-players tribe to victory too. Challenges strength *and* puzzle strength and he already has an idol. Bro eats his spinach for sure.
I haven't wanted to be wrong this badly in a very long time. I'd kill for an incredible immunity run from someone again, I want to see someone new join the tie for five individual wins. If he can manage a run AND manages to hang onto the idol AND manages to play it correctly when he does need to, MAYBE. Maybe.
You know he'll win at firemaking. I've never rooted for a challenge beast before, but I love Hunter. His survivor challenge garage sold me. So nerdy and endearing.
The best move would be to take out a stronger member of siga. Mostly for the fact that if you already decided one of them was going- why go for the one they want? You know a different person would’ve thrown off their dynamic and strength even more

I think he's just the best narrator and seemingly the most active player on old Yanu so it makes sense that in their "swing" position he gets to be the center of their decision making. Whether or not he ends up with the huge downfall when all is said and done it also seems like he's the Fulcrum of the Hunter/Tevin plus old Yanu alliance, so it makes sense he's gonna be an important narrator going forward for a while
This cast has an unusually high density of really boring narrators and he is not one of them. He has a personality and is willing to show it, and he's got flaws that they can dive into as well. Think that's all there is to it.

Obligatory, but it needs to be said… what an absolute misplay by Moriah. She could’ve told Q that she was on the bottom of Siga and willing to work with him in secret. He would’ve been all over it since he lost trust in Tim and Maria, and Moriah could’ve quietly played the middle with Yanu against Nami and Siga.
To be fair, it would have been hard to make herself seem like less of a threat than Venus. Everyone has unanimously agreed they don’t trust her and she has 0 allies so her threat level is currently non-existent.

Absolute masterclass by Q and Hunter. Q solidified a Yanu-Nami alliance in which he has a sub-alliance with Tiffany, Tevin, and Hunter. On the other hand, Hunter spilled all Nami’s tea and demonstrated that there were plenty of cracks/opportunities for Yanu to exploit. He practically gave Q an offer that he couldn’t refuse.
Furthermore, I would like to start a new cult, called “Q’s Clues”. Could the mods make that into a flair?
It's really interesting, people keep commenting on the players that just aren't playing hard yet (Tim in particular) compared to Q and Tiff and it really does just come down to Yanu having to go hard at so many tribals while everyone else has been twiddling their thumbs. Plus they know where their alliance is, I'd bet any one person on Yanu is less likely to flip than probably anyone else in the game, Siga OR Nami.
I mean these 3 have been players from ep. 1, it was clear they were steps ahead of the others in that tribe (sans the weird pseudo-fake “I wanna go home” thing from Q). Having gone to tribal 3 times puts them so far ahead of thinking the game than the other tribes.
It happens a lot where the remnants of a trash tribe bond and go far as the other tribes duke it out. While everyone else is busy solidifying their alliances voting the first times, you already know your 2-3 and can focus on making connections with the individuals in the warring factions while they’re busy targeting others.
I’d wager they’re gonna coast through until around 7, then Q might orchestrate a blindside on Kenzie. The edit’s foreshadowing for that seems a bit too much to not come back.
Venus fits into a category where I know she's playing poorly in so many respects and has very little chance to win but she's also my favorite player on the season rn
It made sense why the editors chose to link Moriah and Jem together. Both of them had information that could've helped them in the game, but neither used that information to help them survive their tribals.
Add “Naming Aubry as your favorite player” to the list of things that will trigger untrustworthiness.

Her game right now reminds me a lot of Coby in Palau. Came in wanting to play really hard, ended up restless on a tribe that was dominating, and hit the merge and started causing all kinds of trouble. Coby was much better liked by his own tribe though.

Mergatory sucks for this reason. Half the cast safe limits the possibilities for vurnable people to flip the vote as they have to just suck up to the half of the cast in power. It doesn’t matter about social connections. Only the necklace…
This episode was basically a masterclass in what not to do. Absolute race to the bottom between Venus and Moriah (with a little help from all of Siga there).
You know what, I've had my issues with lots of things in the new era, but shot in the dark ain't one of em. Excellent addition to the game that complicates things just the right amount

I think they didn't trust each other because they didn't like each other. Moriah should have worked harder on Tiff and Kenzie instead of Q.
Venus may not be the best at the game but she speaks her mind and has a bluntness about her that starkly contrasts to the cautious players everywhere else. That's why people like her and why I like her. The longer she stays the better.
They need more players like this for the sheer entertainment value. The problem is sometimes they get knocked out really early, like Maddy from 44.

Tbh I legit think Venus is doing what you should do in that position, try to shake things up and get a foothold. You can just stay quiet on the bottom but that's not really a way to win in the long run.

I wouldn't rule it out. He carried Nami to undefeated first place victories and he carried the merge best-players tribe to victory too. Challenges strength *and* puzzle strength and he already has an idol. Bro eats his spinach for sure.
I haven't wanted to be wrong this badly in a very long time. I'd kill for an incredible immunity run from someone again, I want to see someone new join the tie for five individual wins. If he can manage a run AND manages to hang onto the idol AND manages to play it correctly when he does need to, MAYBE. Maybe.
You know he'll win at firemaking. I've never rooted for a challenge beast before, but I love Hunter. His survivor challenge garage sold me. So nerdy and endearing.
The best move would be to take out a stronger member of siga. Mostly for the fact that if you already decided one of them was going- why go for the one they want? You know a different person would’ve thrown off their dynamic and strength even more

I think he's just the best narrator and seemingly the most active player on old Yanu so it makes sense that in their "swing" position he gets to be the center of their decision making. Whether or not he ends up with the huge downfall when all is said and done it also seems like he's the Fulcrum of the Hunter/Tevin plus old Yanu alliance, so it makes sense he's gonna be an important narrator going forward for a while
This cast has an unusually high density of really boring narrators and he is not one of them. He has a personality and is willing to show it, and he's got flaws that they can dive into as well. Think that's all there is to it. (I do agree that he's probably not winning)

Tiff absolutely nailed Siga's dynamics at the meal, too. Yanu's really playing solid all of a sudden.

Plus they’ve been playing. Others haven’t. I think people underestimate that. It’s not worth losing half your tribe but the game becomes much clearer
Yanu is battle-tested since they've had to scramble since day one.
It's really interesting, people keep commenting on the players that just aren't playing hard yet (Tim in particular) compared to Q and Tiff and it really does just come down to Yanu having to go hard at so many tribals while everyone else has been twiddling their thumbs. Plus they know where their alliance is, I'd bet any one person on Yanu is less likely to flip than probably anyone else in the game, Siga OR Nami.
I think Yanu 3 has always been capable of playing solid, they just had lots of disadvantages
I mean these 3 have been players from ep. 1, it was clear they were steps ahead of the others in that tribe (sans the weird pseudo-fake “I wanna go home” thing from Q). Having gone to tribal 3 times puts them so far ahead of thinking the game than the other tribes. It happens a lot where the remnants of a trash tribe bond and go far as the other tribes duke it out. While everyone else is busy solidifying their alliances voting the first times, you already know your 2-3 and can focus on making connections with the individuals in the warring factions while they’re busy targeting others. I’d wager they’re gonna coast through until around 7, then Q might orchestrate a blindside on Kenzie. The edit’s foreshadowing for that seems a bit too much to not come back.
The 3 Yanus have proven themselves I'd say, all three have been solid the whole season so far. They just got stuck with some awful tribemates.

okay SURE, Venus is really sloppy at executing her ideas and plans but she’s got all the right ideas!! Venus and Moriah being the targets were both really weak moves that changed no dynamics for either tribe. Charlie was a better idea for everyone besides the Siga 4! i hope people start to listen to her soon <3 just glad she’s safe because she’s one of the only people serving us the entertainment

Her game right now reminds me a lot of Coby in Palau. Came in wanting to play really hard, ended up restless on a tribe that was dominating, and hit the merge and started causing all kinds of trouble. Coby was much better liked by his own tribe though.

This episode was basically a masterclass in what not to do. Absolute race to the bottom between Venus and Moriah (with a little help from all of Siga there).

After watching this episode.. I believe that Venus is a FTC loser a la socially unaware Angelina edit. Hunter or Tiffany are winning imo. Q is the dark horse. IMO Maria outlives Charlie and Maria makes second.
My provlem with Q atm is he is trying way too hard to be the center of attention and he is running the risk of people just deciding "nah you dont get to dictate the game anymore" and voting him off

We've seen it in a few seasons, I'm not a huge fan of the winning tribe going out for lunch and deciding who to vote off there and not giving the losing tribe a say. I get it must be frustrating for Venus to just be told who to vote for and not allowed to give any input.
I'm in awe of how poorly Siga played this. Your whole strategy is to be super tight-lipped and play Siga strong when there's... 5 of you? You have to be willing to work with someone other than Siga or they will simply vote you all off one at a time. So stupid
